"Be careful."

Summary:

Hoseok has an emergency. Yoongi tries to be the hero.

Notes:

Sometimes, it's really hard to say those three little words: I love you. So we tip-toe around it, we show our love through gestures, other phrases...
Basically, this is a series of one shots on how the boys care about each other. And we all know how hard it is for boys to actually talk about their feelings. So, cue angst, fluff and love. Lots of love.
Notice: some of these might be romantic relationships, others more platonic. I guess it will depend on the prompt and my inspiration~

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Yoongi knew Hoseok was working on a new song in his studio. And he also knew how neither of them liked to show their works to others. At least not when they were just getting started.

So when he got a text from Hoseok saying: Hyung, please, I need help. It's an emergency, he dropped what he was doing and rushed out of his studio, almost faceplanting against the hallway wall. He threw the door of Hoseok's studio open, running inside and feeling completely out of breath. So much for being an active and still relatively young idol.

“Seokie, what's wrong??” he asked immediately, hands on his knees as he tried to catch his breath. He looked over at him and Hoseok was just standing in the middle of the room, staring at the wall. “Seokie?” he called, stepping closer to him and touching his shoulder.

Hoseok held out his arm and pointed to the wall right above his computer with his index finger. “There's a spider, hyung.”

“What?”

“A spider!” repeated Hoseok, glancing to Yoongi before turning his eyes to the spider again.

Yoongi just stared at him, his mouth open in shock. “Hoseok, fuck, I thought something happened!” he swore under his breath. He wasn't actually mad at Hoseok, but he had actually started to panic on his way to his studio. “You called me for a fucking spider?”

“If I look away, it could disappear and then I would panic even more, hyung.” whined Hoseok, pouting his lips.

Yoongi sighed, rolling his eyes and putting his hands on his hips. “And what am I supposed to do here?”

“Catch it???” explained Hoseok, as if it was the most obvious thing on earth.

Yoongi just looked at him for a few more seconds, his brow furrowing and his lips pursed into a contemplative pout. “It's too high on the wall. I can't reach it...”

“But, hyung, what if it falls on my head while I'm working??” whined again Hoseok. He took a quick glance at Yoongi, his eyes almost pleading him.

“Okay, but do I look like fucking spiderman to you? How do I get it?” he asked, looking up at the spider.

“Oh.” Hoseok pursed his lips and looked like he hadn't thought about that part of the plan yet. “I don't know.” he admitted.

Yoongi sighed again. He didn't like to admit it, but he was a little bit scared of spiders himself. But he also knew how truly scared Hoseok was and he couldn't really just leave him. He looked at the spider on the wall and then at Hoseok's desk. It was risky, but maybe he could climb on it and reach the annoying animal.

“Hyung, please.” whined Hoseok.

And Yoongi didn't need more convincing. Not when it was Hoseok asking. Not when his irrational fears were involved. There was nothing he wouldn't do for him. “Okay, okay.” he sighed, trying to hide the small smile tugging at his lips.

“My hero!!” Hoseok hugged him sideways and was probably about to also kiss him when he remembered the spider. “Oh, right. Gotta keep an eye on the buddy up there before he runs away.”

Yoongi just shook his head and chuckled. He used the chair to help himself up on the desk. He grabbed the first blank piece of paper he could find and stood up. He was right: he could reach the spider like that.

But.

The spider was bigger, up-close. And it was looking down on him. Threateningly. He swallowed hard, trying to figure out how to catch it.

“Hyung, please, be careful.” said Hoseok. And he had stepped closer to the desk as well, his hand reaching out to hold Yoongi's leg.

“Don't worry. I won't drop it.” muttered Yoongi.

“No, I mean... please, be careful not to fall and hurt yourself...”

And that's when Yoongi realised he was about to fuck up. He was already nervous, but knowing Hoseok was worried about him, it just made him weaker. Hoseok's gentle hold on his calf didn't help. He tried to catch the spider with the paper, but his hands were shaking so much that he accidentally dropped it.

“Shitshitshitshitshit” he chanted, jumping back and almost falling if it hadn't been for Hoseok. The younger boy caught him and then they were both screaming and running out of the studio. They slammed the door closed and just stood in front of it, holding each other while they tried to catch their breaths.

“What the hell is going on?” asked Namjoon, appearing from around the corner. He had a fresh cup of coffee in his right hand and the maknaes at his heels.

“Spider.” mumbled Yoongi, pointing to Hoseok's studio.

“What?”

“There's a huuuuge spider in my studio.” explained Hoseok, his grip on Yoongi's hand getting tighter.

Jimin and Jeongguk started giggling, not even trying to hide it, while Namjoon just looked completely confused.

“But why are you yelling?”

“I tried to catch it but it fell down and it almost landed on me and fuck that was a very traumatic experience.” Yoongi could still feel his heart beating fast in his ribcage.

“Did it bite you??” asked Taehyung with too much enthusiasm.

“No. Thank fuck it didn't.” muttered Yoongi, shivering at the thought and feeling Hoseok tense up right next to him.

“Ha, too bad. Maybe you could have turned into spiderman!” chirped Taehyung.

“But with great power, comes great responsibility.” recited Jeongguk, a wide grin plastered on his face.

“By the way, did you guys know that Tolkien was kind of attacked by a big tarantula and got so scared that he decided to write about a giant, scary spider in his books as well and that's probably why lots of sci-fi movies involve scary and giant spiders?”

“I didn't particularly care about knowing this piece of information, but thanks, Joon.” replied Yoongi, scrunching up his nose and glaring at their leader.

“Why isn't any of you helping, though???” whined Hoseok, stomping his foot. He looked like a little kid. A cute little kid. With his lips pursed into a cute pout.

The other four boys looked at him, confused.

“Go get it for us??” he asked, almost pleading. “Please?” he added some aegyo. Something he knew the others couldn't really resist.

They all shared a look, until Jeongguk sighed heavily, rolling his eyes. “Fine. I'll catch the huuuuuge spider!” he announced, mocking Hoseok previous statement.

He went inside the studio, followed by Taehyung and Jimin, who were just curious.

“Maybe we can dedicate the next Cypher to this spider...” said Namjoon.

Both Yoongi and Hoseok's heads snapped towards Namjoon, who looked serious as he rubbed his chin and contemplated his idea.

“Ya, cut it.” mumbled Yoongi, shoving at his shoulder.

Namjoon looked at them and started chuckling. “Alright, alright.”

Not even ten minutes later, the three younger boys came out triumphant. Jeongguk was holding a piece of paper and a glass on top of it. The spider was trapped inside. “Got it!”

“Isn't that my glass??” asked horrified Hoseok.

“It was on your desk, so, yeah. I guess?” replied Jeongguk.

“Don't worry, we'll wash it afterwards, hyung.” added Jimin, noticing Hoseok's expression.

“Oh, nope. You can burn that glass.” Hoseok shook his head, taking a step back as the maknae got closer to him.

Taehyung got between them, tapping on the glass and admiring the poor creature. “Hyung, can we keep it?”

“I don't think you can keep a spider?” mumbled Namjoon, scratching the back of his head. “How are you gonna feed it?”

“He can feed himself, hyung.” explained Taehyung, taking the glass from Jeongguk. “I'll just let Peter live in our room. He'll find his own food. Right?”

“Peter?” asked Hoseok.

“You named the fucking spider??” snorted Yoongi.

Namjoon rested a hand over Taehyung's shoulder and looked him in the eyes. “Tae. I know you've been considering getting a pet, but wouldn't a puppy be better?”

Taehyung sighed, rolling his eyes. “I knooooow. But Peter is so cute.”

“Maybe we can set Peter free outside?” proposed Jimin with a shrug of his shoulders. He wasn't a big fan of spiders either.

“Okay, fine.” conceded Taehyung. He walked past Hoseok and Yoongi and looked confused at them. “I still don't understand how can hyungs be scared of something so cute.” he mumbled, pouting his lips adorably.

“It's called irrational fear for a reason, Tae.” replied Yoongi with a scoff.

“Um, okay.” Taehyung shrugged his shoulders, holding the glass up and smiling at the spider through the transparent material. “Wanna say bye to him?” he asked his hyungs.

“Nope.” squealed Hoseok, almost hiding behind Yoongi. “Get that thing out of my sight. Please.”

“Okay, okay.”

“AND BURN THE GLASS!”

The maknaes just giggled, turning around the corner with their precious spider.

“I'll go back to work, then.” announced Namjoon, sipping his coffee as he started to walk away.

Only Yoongi and Hoseok were left, still standing in front of the studio. They shared a look. And then Yoongi glanced down to their hands. Without realising it, they hadn't let go. He caressed Hoseok's knuckles with his thumb, glancing back up at his eyes.

“Hyung.” whispered Hoseok.

“Yeah?”

“Do you have work to do?”

Yoongi hesitated before answering. He had work to do. He had been working on a song when Hoseok had texted him. But Hoseok was looking at him with his big, puppy eyes that Yoongi could never say no to. He felt his ears heat up with a blush as he half-lied. “Not really.” he let go of Hoseok's hand and took a step towards his own studio. “I'll go save what I did earlier and grab a notebook so I can work on lyrics in your studio.”

Hoseok's face lit up. “Really?”

“Yeah. What if another scary spider tries to attack you? Gotta defend you.” he winked at him, getting a delighted chuckle out of Hoseok.

“You're the best!” he cooed, kissing Yoongi's cheek. “My hero!”

Yoongi was fully blushing by then and he bashfully looked down. “Yeah, yeah. I'll be right back.”

He had always hated having to share a studio. Not because he didn't like the others, he just preferred to be on his own. But Hoseok was different, of course. And there was nothing he wouldn't do for Hoseok.

Notes:

This might or might not be based on personal experience... lol, you'll never know...
But, anyway, I just have this idea that Yoongi would literally do anything for his precious Hoseok, even climb on a damn table to catch a spider. And then there's Gukie that would personally fight anything and anyone that tries to scare his hyungs. The one true hero!
I hope you guys enjoyed this and I'm sorry for taking so long to update!! Hopefully, I'll write more often! uwu
