Taehyung grinned at Jimin, who smiled back. The video was grainy, and there were some audio problems, but they sorted it out the best they could. He wished his brother was there, Namjoon was always better at all this technical stuff. He did major in the field and is an employee in a robotics firm in Seoul after all, of course he would be better at this.
"I told you I would figure something out, didn't I?"
Jimin laughed in that cute little way of his that never failed to make Taehyung smile in return. "Tae, you just opened up a website that lets you stream a video while video calling."
"Ah ah ah, but who do you think found the website in the first place?"
"I am pretty sure you asked your brother."
"Yeah, but whose brother do you think it is? Mine."
Taehyung felt his smile widen as Jimin's laughter rang out through the screen. He hasn't had much of a chance to hear it yet, with them preferring texting as a better mean of communication, but he decided he really liked it. If there was something that could top his love for Jimin, it was a happy Jimin ( and ddosun, and his hyung, and his grandma, and his parents- he decided to stop there ).
"Hey," Jimin said, finally selecting a movie, "How about Grave of The Fireflies? I haven't seen it yet."
Taehyung scrunched his nose. "I just finished crying over finals, choose something happier.''
"The Wind Rises then?"
''Try again.''
''When Marnie was There? That's not too sad, I have seen that one before."
The Daegu boy sighed and brought his laptop closer. "Remind me to never let you choose again. We're watching Princess Mononoke."
"Haven't you seen that one before?"
"Yes and I would rather rewatch that rather than get my heart stabbed a million times from your choices."
Jimin spluttered and tried to convince him that the movies weren't that bad, they're a beautiful piece of storyline Tae! , but Taehyung quickly shushed him and pressed play. He knew he would give in if the other boy requested him to watch his choices, so it was better to stop him before it came to that.
Halfway through the film, Jimin pouted and declared that they would have to watch Grave of The Fireflies next, he was curious to see just why it was lauded as a masterpiece.
So much for his plan.
Tae predictable grew teary eyed from the first fifteen minutes alone, and he was pretty sure Jimin spent most of the remaining time consoling him and tearing up himself. The reviews were not kidding when they said it was heart wrenching.
They decided to go for one more round, rewatching Spirited Away to cheer up. Jimin ended up falling asleep near the end, and Taehyung had to force himself to tear his eyes away from the frankly adorable sight. But it was lowkey creepy to stare at your sleeping friend, and he did not do creepy, thank you very much.
Not wanting to wake Chimchim, he closed the website, knowing that it would automatically close on the other side too. He debated watching another film on his own, but then discarded the idea. It wouldn't be as much fun, he would rather wait for the next movie night with Jimin ( he planned to make it happen at least once a month, and he had a feeling the other boy had similar ideas ).
He worried his bottom lip, wondering if he should just turn in for the night. It seemed inviting, and even though it was nowhere near the usual time he went to sleep, he wouldn't mind waking up early enough to watch the sunrise. It was something he rarely did nowadays, with his less than healthy sleep schedule.
Maybe he'll begin his second year of high school with better habits. Maybe .
