Work Text:
A steaming, black cup of coffee was nice; enjoyable and savory to the very bottom of the cup. You may even add some sugar or spice; it’s still as tastiful. Serve with a bun and call it a meal! Coffee was an amazing stimulus, one of great taste and desire.
However, coffee was only good when prepared specially, with care and in a way that kept the taste to such bountiful amounts. It took special care to create the heaping mug that sat before him, and all due precautions would be taken to secure the dish of splendid joy.
Yes; Enjoying a cup of coffee was satisfactory unless done wrong; However, following the strict rules would ensure a perfect cup to drink with glee and stay right and in order, ensuring nothing to go wrong.
It was satisfying, a cup of coffee. Tecchou loved coffee, and he loves working selling what he loves, which was why his teenage job at a downtown coffee shop was a dream come true; an ensurement to satisfy his raging obsessions in one and lets him feel the true joy of a good cup of coffee and a love sick heart.
Working at a coffee shop was fun, yes; just as any job, strange hearts may wander from time, and you may stumble through a bit of difficulty when the odder duos pull through, but it was enjoyable, and he would soon learn, the odder the people, the more interesting they would be.
Would would exactly explain a regular customer, Jouno, almost perfectly.
From his many days and hours spent at work, he knew almost everything about all the regulars, and in the short amount of time during his newcomer days, he would give in to his will and chat with all that came in, bringing him a reputation of being the nicest barista in the shop. However, Jouno was the one customer who never talked, always staying mute and only ever speaking in a sort of code like talk, keeping all personal information out of Tecchou’s ears and allowing the stoic man to stay mysterious, even though they see each other every weekday, every morning; the man remained a mystery, and of course, it would drive him to dig further and uncover all the mans secrets for his own desire.
This would grow into an obsession with the man, and a desire to know more , more , more; Which, of course, would lead to a build up pinning, and soon the man would stumble across his feelings and realize the small need for knowledge would lead to an immense love sickness and a pining that he couldn't deny. So it pained his heart over and over again when he would meet with the man and start up conversation, only to be shot down with a snarky remark and an order for a straight black coffee ( Who even drinks straight black?!).
However, he would still keep trying and would feed his obsession, because without it, it was meaningless, and a hunger he couldn't quench grew beyond his words, leading to a chase of some sorts, and it was victory or death; nothing in between.
So, of course, subtle flirting works out best.
“Same thing as yesterday?” Tecchou raises his eyebrows as the blind man walks through the glass door, no problem navigating on his own with a sly smile placed upon his lips as he leans forward onto the counter and twirls a straw between his fingers in manner to which seems undeniable flirtatious, and sends Tecchou flying to the stars, sky high.
“Of course,” Jouno smirks, “Still no sweetener.”
“Oh come on!” He pouts, “Sweetener is what makes coffee good. Just a ‘lil spice? I know the perfect way to level out the coffee to create the perfect balance of sweet and bitterness.”
Jouno glances backwards, a sigh escaping his mouth as he finally pushes the words from his still smirking mouth, “Fine, fine; Just this once!”
Tecchou stops, his hands freezing as he glances up at Jouno, confusion covering his face until it morphs to a knowing smile, “Really? You sure? I mean, I was just kidding around, you don’t have to actu-”
“Yes—I am sure,” Jouno starts slowly, “However, I cannot promise I will enjoy it…”
“No problem at all!” Tecchou pronounces, excitement capping his lips, “You’ll love it, I’m amazing at sweets—This one’s on me, Jouno, go sit down and I’ll join you at the table, ‘Kay?”
“Are- Are you sure? It’s no problem-”
“Yes, of course! I’m the one getting you to change your order, so I’ll pay—but to pay me back you have to talk to me~!”
“Yes, that is fine,” Jouno smiles, a rare sight even for the jokester, “Thank you.”
And with that, he moves his body to a table near the back, sitting silent as ever, his face as stoic as ever which pulls a laugh from Tecchou’s lips as he moves towards the back to prepare two latte’s, a drink not too sweetened to really pull one away, but still an enjoyable drink for a minor sweet tooth.
It doesn’t take long for him to finish the drink, and soon he's pulling up the two person table and pulling out a chair, sitting himself down and placing the cups onto the table with a smile as he glances at the frowning man and says with ecstacy, “Enjoy~!”
“Thank you.” His face lights with a smile as his hand grasps the cup and he pulls it closer with curiosity, finally giving in to his taste and pressing the lid against his mouth where he takes a swift swug and gremices, but contorts his face back to a smile and says with a sweetened tone, “It’s good.”
“Don’t lie!”
“Your right, lying is bad; I still prefer black,” Jouno snorts, “But it’s actually not bad.”
“So your glad I spiced it up?”
“Yeah—change is good, sometimes.” He smiles again, this time with a comforting gaze falling upon Tecchou as his face falls back into a stoicism and it melts back to his normal gaze, but happiness still swarming his aura as he waits for the next remark from Tecchou.
“Y’know,” Tecchou starts, a smirk playing across his face, “One day I’m going to keep you smiling. It’s my new mission.”
“I’ll be waiting.” He laughs again, but no smile places upon his lips, and Tecchou swears there's no mission better than to light the man's face with joy.
It's even obbsession worthy.
