Bakugou grit his teeth after spitting out blood, allowing venom-riddled curses to spill from his blood glossed lips. The villain stares down at him with a condescending smirk and it causes anger to bubble in Katsuki’s blood.
How the fuck was he supposed to know that the asshole had a fire-controlling quirk, that could also control fire-quirk users, and with explosions comes fire. Unable to move, Bakugou watches the villain quickly begin to tower over him and lower the metal pole in its hand to smash his brain in.
Bakugou Katsuki might be emotionally constipated, slight unstable and have anger issues, but his momma didn’t raise a bitch, and he refused to avert his glare. There is only one thing that he wishes he could do before he dies, and that is to say goodbye to Deku, Izuku. His Izuku.
The pole makes contact and a sharp thud of metal meeting flesh and bone rings out. Bakugou blinks rapidly before realizing that he doesn’t feel any pain.
“Ka-ka-katsu-suki.”
The soft, broken whisper shakes him from his stupor.
He finds himself looking into beautiful, but light-fading, emerald green, doe-wide eyes. Izuku’s body then drops down on top of him, unmoving and possibly unbreathing.
Bakugou is unaware of what happens next, of the yelling around him. Other pro heroes have arrived and have apprehended the villain, but Bakugou only has eyes for Izuku. Katsuki doesn’t realize he is no longer paralyzed by the villain until some touches his shoulder, and Katsuki screams and screams loud. It’s Todoroki that calms him, and that’s because he trusts that half-n-half.
Izuku.
Danger.
Save.
Help.
Fault.
FUCK.
Those are the only things circulating Bakugou’s brain. He cradles Izuku’s body in his arms and runs. Runs away from the screams of his name, the noise, and the pain. When he looks up, he finds himself in front of the hospital.
He’s screaming again. Why is he screaming?
Doctors and nurses gather around and Katsuki watches helplessly as Deku, Izuku, is taken away on a gurney. Another nurse gently guides Katsuki into his own hospital room to be treated.
The nurse asks him his name and he responds “Bakugou, Katsuki. Pro-Hero Ground Zero”.
And that is the last time Ground Zero would speak a word until he received news about or Midoriya Izuku awoke.
