Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

Pheonix stood in front of the Khrua’in Courthouse. He hadn’t predicted he’d return here so soon after the events that last lead him here, but after a confusing phone call with Apollo here, he found himself on the next flight to Khruain, now standing outside the eloquent building.

It towered over him as he gulped nervously, steeling himself before going inside, preparing himself for the worst. The bailiff took him to the detention center, where he waited to see Apollo.

Instead, the bailiff brought out a young woman. She was dressed professionally, her long brown hair was tied back into a ponytail as she took the seat in front of him. Her eyes, however, were intense dark brown with a fire in them that reminded him of his young partner.

Pheonix rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly a goofy smile plastered to his face as he tried to make light of the situation,” I’m sorry ma’am there must be some sort of mistake I’m here to see Apollo Justice.” The woman’s face lighting up with shock as she flushed pink.

“Oh.” She said, “I guess Apollo meant it when he said he didn’t really get a chance to explain things over the phone.” She told him, “Let me introduce myself, I’m Artemis Law, we agreed that it would be better for you to see me first considering the circumstances.”

“Circumstances?” Phoenix asked, already seeing that this case was going to be more complicated than he expected.

Artemis sighed, rubbing her temples, “Okay, Apollo didn’t explain anything…” She said, sounding a little frustrated, “That’s fine. I’ll explain things.” Her voice perked up a little.

“Please do.” Pheonix said, a bit exasperated.

“I’ll catch you up by telling you about what happened in the trial.” Artemis said, starting her story, hoping that she could clear things up for the confused Defense Attorney.
