Work Text:
DAY 1
Class ended three hours ago, but Aizawa dragged the group who failed their practical exam into the teacher’s lounge to review their mistakes as an “early extra lessons”. Sato was excused to leave early, but Ashido, Kirishima, Sero, and Kaminari were forced to endure Aizawa’s long lecture.
The four of them decided to get dinner together in celebration of surviving more lessons. Ashido had to lean against the bike rack from laughing too hard as Kaminari kept getting a static shock from his bike keys. Kirishima was talking to Sero before he spotted Bakugou in the distance and waved. Bakugou only glanced before walking away, but that didn’t dampen Kirishima’s enthusiasm, “Bakugou! See you tomorrow!”
“Man, I never know what to say to that guy,” Sero lamented as he rubbed his chin, “I thought it would be easier after the Sports Festival, but he still calls me Flat Face or extra.”
“I like Flat Face better,” Kaminari said.
“Right? It’s somewhat personal,” Sero sighed.
“Yeah, he used to call me Weird Hair too,” Kirishima chimed in, putting his hand on Sero’s shoulder as a comforting gesture. Kirishima’s innocent comment suddenly triggered the other three into a yelling session.
“HUH? WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!”
“WEIRD HAIR ISN’T EVEN THAT BAD”
“I DON’T THINK HE EVEN KNOWS MY NAME.”
After that night’s walk back home, Kirishima tried his best to never bring up the name issue again.
DAY 8
Kirishima and Bakugou were having another study session at the cafe after they were kicked out of the library for being too loud. Bakugou was in the middle of hitting Kirishima’s head with his book when Kirishima’s phone lit up with a text message from Sero.
[Sero]: Still studying with Explosion Boy?
[Kirishima]: Explosion Boy?
[Sero]: If I’m known as Flat Face, I might as well be petty about it.
[Kirishima]: Bakugou just saw my phone and said he’s going to kill you. But, you’re still welcome to join us!
[Sero]: ...I’d rather fail
[Kirishima]: As men, sacrifices must be made for good grades
[Sero]: Damn it. That made no sense, but I’m still coming
[Sero]: Second thought, I should bring Ashido as a shield
[Kirishima]: Leave my horn buddy out of this
The table at the cafe eventually became crowded as Ashido, Kirishima, Sero, and Kaminari squished together to see Bakugou’s surprisingly neat and small handwriting.
DAY 11
“Kirishima!” Ashido yelled from behind, running up the hill to catch up to her red-haired friend. Bakugou looked over his shoulder as a greeting. It didn’t seem much, but it was a lot coming from Bakugou.
Ashido grinned at this development and smacked his back as a hello, “Morning!”
“What the hell?” Bakugou angrily yelled at Ashido while she ran to catch up to Uraraka up ahead.
DAY 19
“20 bucks says Bakugou is at the library again,” Kaminari grinned at Sero. Sero was too busy with squirming in his shirt because his large elbows were stuck in the armhole, but he managed to stick his thumb up as a reply.
“What? You’re only saying that because you saw him go in,” Kirishima pointed out.
“Be quiet!” Kaminari covered Kirishima’s mouth, but it was too late.
“I take it back!” Sero said, popping his head out of the shirt.
“Too late! We shook on it!” Kaminari yelled as he ran out of the boy’s locker room.
“NO, WE DIDN’T!”
A few minutes later, Kaminari, Sero, and Kirishima tried to discreetly peek through the library windows to see if they could spot Bakugou’s poofy ash-blonde hair.
“I don’t see him,” Kirishima said a little too loud.
“I do! He’s at the same table again. Hand over the money.”
“What? No way that’s him, Bakugou’s hair is worse,” Sero refuted.
Bakugou snapped the pencil’s lead on the paper as the trio continued to loudly squabble about who was right or not. “I’m going to kill those bastards,” Bakugou thought.
DAY 25
“Seriously? Seriously?!” Kirishima and Sero howled with laughter at Kaminari’s dumb statement.
“What? I think the spot Bakugou sits at is special! He gets into this magical zone or something when he looks out the window,” Kaminari explained.
“....That’s just concentrating,” Ashido said.
“It’s like when Bakugou looks up into the air and suddenly finds the answer to a math problem.”
Sero fell off his chair at this point while Kirishima was banging the table with his fist.
“I’m just thinking!” Bakugou growled, thoroughly frustrated at his friend’s antics. “This is fucking stupid, I’m going to bed.”
“Fine. I’ll just take the seat before you do!” Kaminari called after Bakugou.
“Don’t you dare. I’ll kill you!”
DAY 27
The library was filled with the sound of scratching pencils, the ticking clock, and Kaminari’s “Ow” as he got shocked for the fifth time.
“Ow,” Kaminari sucked on his finger after getting shocked again. Bakugou abruptly stood up, causing his chair to scrape across the floor and grumpily walked towards the bathroom.
Kaminari gawked at Bakugou’s moody behavior and looked at Uraraka who was sitting at the table behind Bakugou. Kaminari gave Uraraka a confused shrug after seeing her worried appearance. Kaminari returned to his notes to read, but he got scared when Bakugou suddenly threw a damp towel at him.
“How the fuck are you supposed to study if you keep getting shocked?” Bakugou complained as he sat back in his chair.
Kaminari stared at the towel and then back at Bakugou with his infamous lost expression. “Just use it!” Bakugou barked.
DAY 40
“Alright, that’s it. Something’s going on with Bakugou,” Kaminari whispered to the group, “I saw him stare out the window.”
“So?” Kirishima and Ashido asked at the same time.
“He looked very peaceful,” Kaminari continued as if he was sharing a grave secret.
“Why didn’t you say anything sooner, man?!” Sero grabbed Kaminari by the neck.
Ashido and Kirishima left the strangling to Sero as they quickly gathered their belongings to spy on their hot-headed friend.
“Get this, when he’s alone it’s always that same specific seat. I don’t know why though,” Kaminari gasped, wriggling himself from Sero’s grip.
“Well, it’s time for us to find out!” Ashido jumped and cheered, excited to discover a different aspect of Bakugou.
Meanwhile, Bakugou was at his usual spot, facing Uraraka and Tsuyu who were seated at the next table. Bakugou only looked up from his notes when he noticed Tsuyu packing up to leave. He returned to his notes, only to become frustrated with a formula so he stared at the window to calm his nerves. His irritation grew when he heard his “friends” talking outside the window.
“You should keep walking by, but don’t be obvious,” Kaminari said, giving unwanted advice to Ashido.
“You should do it! I never go to the library!” Ashido argued back.
“Seems like someone’s scared,” Sero teased before Ashido punched him in the arm.
“Guys, be quiet! Bakugou might hear us!” Kirishima shushed the group.
The trio jolted when the window suddenly opened, looking up to find Bakugou death glaring them from above.
“Shut up! People are trying to study! Bakugou yelled and closed the window shut.
“They really love you, you know?” Uraraka spoke up after Bakugou settled back into his seat.
“Hah?”
“The class calls you guys the Bakusquad! Isn’t that cute?” Uraraka grinned.
“Hmph, sounds stupid,” Bakugou faced towards the window again, smirking behind his hand at the reflected view of Uraraka’s annoyed face from the window.
