Work Text:
It was a late Wednesday afternoon, the sun setting peacefully and gradually as it radiated a honeyed glow across the expanse of woodland Hiroomi searched through. Leaves crunched under his feet in a rhythmic concordance with birds chirping throughout the canopy, but the boy payed no attention to the gradual and scattered movement of his feet- rather the setting sky, and golden skies above.
The colour gold reminded him of Akihito. It's his favourite colour for that- his favourite colour became many things ever since Akihito became a prominent presence in his life. The ruddy red of his familiar laugh was the colour of home, the soft browns of his eyes warm and welcoming, hair in radiant gold the colour of sky in its last dance.
The gleam of the sun becomes much too bright much too quickly for Hiroomi, who much preferred the darkness, and he ducked right into the covered area with the swaths of tall reaching trees concealing him from the glare. Taking a short look around, strangely on edge from the feelings, he took a nervous breath and dipped nimble fingers into his pockets in search of his phone. With each press of a button on the cold keypad, his breath became more uneven and ragged in anticipation- before he hit send on the message with trembling, sweaty palms and fingers. "Akkey. Meet me in the forest, near main path. You can look for me, and once you find me, it's a date. Me and you."
