Chapter Text
“So, you come here often?”
Hope looked over at the girl sitting on the toilet seat in their shared cubicle.
The girl had a slight Korean accent, gentle and calming in the otherwise silent stall.
She had a short, black bob, dark eyes and vibrant blue and yellow eyeliner, vaguely reminding Hope of that one fish from The Little Mermaid.
She also had a vast assortment of rings adorning her slender fingers, Hope noticed as the raven played with one of the many piercings in her ears.
She was pretty.
Her round face and plush lips looked soft and warm, her long eyelashes batting sweetly in Hope’s direction.
“It’s not a first and I doubt it’ll be the last,” Hope mumbled with a quiet sniffle, drying her tear-stained cheeks with the sleeve of her jumper as she glanced away from the girl.
“Not a favourite of the groundskeeper then I guess. Hey, are those guys outside for you?” The girl continued, nodding her head backwards towards the window where a lot of inaudible shouting and yelling was coming from outside, bringing her knees up to her chest and resting her heels on the toilet seat. Hope managed to avoid looking up her skirt.
She nodded her head and the girl laughed, leaning forwards as if to get a better look at the pitiful girl sitting on the floor with her back against the cubicle door.
“What do kids as disgusting as them want with someone as pretty as you?” The raven questioned, placing one foot back on the floor with a soft huff.
“To call me a snake for acting differently around different people. They think I’m a nasty, many-faced bitch.”
“What’s wrong with being able to adapt to certain people? They’re just annoyed because you probably get along well with loads of people. ” The raven put her other foot down and slowly slid down to crouch in front of Hope. “You don’t have to talk about it but since we’re here I don’t mind.”
Hope looked up into the brown eyes and something instantly made her trust the other girl.
The raven seemed to notice her relax slightly, because she carefully slipped herself in between Hope and the wall, leaning against the door and ignoring the threatening creak of the plastic as she put an arm around Hope’s shoulders and nudged her head to rest on the raven's shoulder.
“This okay?” She asked quietly, almost a whisper.
Hope nodded, closing her eyes and breathing in heavily.
“What’s your name, little one?”
“Hosook. You- you can just call me Hope if you want to .”
“Cute.”
Hope felt the heat rise to her cheeks and she opened her eyes again to glance up at the girl, who was staring off into space, a sweet smile on her lips.
“Who are you?”
Hope winced a little at the accidental harsh phrasing and accusing tone which had slipped out but the girl didn’t seem to mind.
“Min Yoonji, Junior year and student in photography. Oh and I’m trans, does that bother you?” Yoonji looked down quickly, biting her lip.
Hope shook her head quickly. “Nah, not at all. I’m gay.”
“Sweet! Me too!” Yoonji grinned, looking back up at the window above the toilet.
“Thank you.”
“Hmm?”
“For staying and talking with me.”
“Honey, you rushed in here crying your eyes out, there was no way I was gonna kick you out. Basic Human decency.” Yoonji shrugged, squeezing Hope’s shoulder.
“Thank you anyways.”
“You’re welcome, Sunshine.”
