Chapter 1: shigaraki tomura x reader

Chapter Text

At first, you were honestly terrified of "handman". Not only was he was always ridiculously cold to you, (and everyone else, for that matter) but for a long time you didn't even know what he looked like. Was it ridiculous for a member of the League of Villains to be so scared of a guy who just wasn't that nice to you? Yeah, probably. Definitely. You never pictured you would ever really be..close to him, given your fear, but oddly enough he seemed to maybe, ever-so-slightly warm up to you after the one time he heard you talking with Himiko about your favorite video games.

"I love RPGs! Games like Persona, Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts completely stole my heart!" The blue haired boy reading a magazine suddenly turned his head in your direction when he heard you.
"Though really I could play anything and find some sorta entertainment in it!" Your (E/C) eyes seemed to almost dazzle as you gushed about this passion of yours, he noted.
"Oh!! Oh!! (F/N)! You should play a video game with me! What do you have??" The excitable blonde, Himiko Toga, bounced up and down as she spoke with you.
You lifted your index finger to your chin, "We could always play Smash Bros, or Street Fighter, or maybe Mario Party? We should probably wait on Mario Party though. Our friendship could end in the span of a single game." You both laughed at that last remark before skipping into one of the side rooms to play together. Tomura never said anything, but he listened to the whole conversation and was secretly somewhat...glad? Well, no, not glad, but he did somewhat like the fact that he now had another member in the League who enjoyed the same pasttime as him. Though he would never say it himself, he would've liked to play with you too.

It became a pretty common occurrence to play games with Himiko after that. You knew that Tomura liked games too, but again, he terrified you and you didn't exactly wanna ask him to play with you or even really talk to him about them. That is, until one day you asked Kurogiri to give you "the most caffeine-and-sugar-filled drink ever to face mankind." You were practically bouncing off the walls the second you even took a sip, but you continued until you finished the cup out of courtesy, inevitably leading to your downfall.

You got up from your seat and waltzed over behind Tomura, who was still sitting at the table playing a game.
"Shigaraki!" You shouted and placed your hands on his shoulders, which no sane person would nor should ever do. Oddly enough, he didn't even really budge or get startled at all from the contact.
"Do you wanna play a game with me?" He gave no response verbally or physically, just continued playing his own game.
"Please??" You begged, causing his revealed eyebrow to furrow a bit, not moving your hands off of him even then. A moment passed before he took one hand off the console to scratch his neck a bit.
"If I say yes, will you leave me alone?" His response to you was in the typical dry, unkind tone.
"Umm..yeah, okay! So you'll do it?" Following this, he promptly saved his game and put the handheld console into sleep mode, turning to you. You took this moment to direct your gaze to the small portion of his face you could actually see - which, to be frank, wasn't much: just his intensely colored red eye with quite visible bags under it, a tiny bit of his dry, pale skin, and his complimentary lightly dusted blue locks - surprisingly soft looking hair, you thought.
"...Stop staring and get on with it." He roughly commanded before getting up from his seat and continuing on into the hideout's sideroom you had your game consoles in. As you briskly followed him, you realized that you actually had been staring at him, and for a second you thought 'hey- isn't it sorta weird that he didn't get more pissed off than he did?' However, you didn't have too much time to ponder over it given you were both now sitting on the floor in front of the TV and the case of games you had.
"Is there anything specific you would wanna play, Shigaraki? Or do you want me to pick?" You looked over at him, noticing he still had "father" on his face - how was he playing that game from earlier like that?
"Just put in whatever. I don't care." With that being answered you went over to the case, examining your options; you ultimately decided on Smash Bros Melee because you can never go wrong with that. You opened the case, slid the disk inside the Wii, and plugged in the GameCube controllers you had laying around close to it.
"I'm sure you've played this before, right?" Your attempt at small talk was shut down with no delay by Tomura immediately responding with a blank "No." That kinda surprised you, to be honest, but that didn't matter. You handed the blue controller to him and he gripped it with all fingers except his pinky to be sure it didn't decay.

It's safe to say you had no idea what you were getting into. Your first thought was to go easy on him since he said he'd never played, but that was the worst decision of your life. In the first round, you played your usual main, and Tomura played Mr. Game & Watch.
You swear to god you would be having nightmares of the world's most horrid, indestructible Mr. Game & Watch for the rest of your life. The combos this evil villain was pulling off were inhumane. You didn't even know this was possible. It felt like you were being plummeted into the ground before the match even started sometimes.
"...You sure you haven't played this before, Shigaraki?"
"Yes."
This was unbelievable.
At one point, you had attempted to use Roy's ultimate move, in which he countered it perfectly and you went flying off the screen so far that the damage counter was glitching out. In another round, you were feeling pretty confident in the reverse falcon punch you were about to execute, but no surprises here - he countered that too and instakilled you. As mad as you were, that all went away when you actually heard Tomura chuckle. It was a great feeling to know he was actually having fun with you, though he may not admit to that. After many, many rounds, you both decided to take a break for the time being.
"You're terrible at this game." He looked at you blankly.
"I'm not terrible! You're just inhumanly good! I haven't even seen tournament players play the way you did!" You heard him quietly chuckle again after your remark, which brought a very visible smile to your face you couldn't wipe off. "And you were only using one eye the whole time! I was using both and couldn't get a single hit on you most of the time! Literally, how?" You threw yourself onto the floor, now laying on your back, continuing to listen to him quietly laugh.
'...his laugh is cute," You thought.
"Is all that caffeine and sugar making you braindead, (L/N)? All you did was button mash the whole time." Remarked Tomura.
"Yeah, that's gotta be it, I swear I'm good at this game," you laughed as you tried to excuse your terrible skills, "you gotta believe me!"
"All that junk affecting your brain is the only reason you talked to me, too." This intimidating tone you had somehow forgotten about caught you off guard.
"What? No, It's definitely not. I just wanted to spend time with you. Promise." You quickly retorted, trying your best to avoid making him feel bad or, worst case scenario, make him angry.
"You never talked to me before. Not that I minded. I knew you were afraid of me already, so don't lie." His eyebrow furrowed and he gazed straight at you for a second before lifting his head to scratch his neck again. Now that you were less jittery, you recognized that he scratched his neck whenever he was uncomfortable or wasn't getting his way, so that wasn't a good sign per say.
"Well, yeah, pretty much everyone in the League intimidates me, which is probably pathetic, but..." You trailed off. "I had no actual bad feelings and I figured we could maybe get closer with something we both really enjoyed?" The nervousness in your voice was still slightly showing through despite your attempts. Then came a few moments of awkward silence, though you did notice the scratching on his neck had stopped.
"...Thanks." The tone in his voice and his expression were as flavorless and bland as always, but the words themselves could be described otherwise - you'd never heard him tell anyone that besides Kurogiri.
"And, for what it's worth, I had a lot of fun, even if you totally annihilated me! We should play more. If you want." You suggested, feeling a bit more comfortable.
"Alright." Again, a simple tasteless response, but you appreciated it nonetheless.

Now, like with Himiko, these gaming sessions with you and Tomura became quite consistent. You didn't always play multiplayer games, but would sometimes give him one of your favorite RPGs and just watch him play instead. You found it enjoyable to sit by him and watch his expressions change during certain scenes or learn what kind of characters he liked.
"Who's your favorite character so far, Shigaraki?"
"Sephiroth."
But it also kind of infuriated you to watch him quickly defeat all the bosses you had a lot of trouble with. Anytime you told him "Ugh! I hated this boss!", it was usually defeated before you could even finish the sentence. In addition, he always got to level 99 without fail. After swiftly finishing FFVII, you gave him a Persona game. You sat back and watched the TV which lit up the otherwise completely dark room - currently, the protagonist was spending time with his friends and levelling up their "Social Links". Basically, the closer the characters became emotionally, the higher rank the Social Link is.
Feeling confident, you perked up and asked him, "Shigaraki?"
"What?"
"What rank are we at by now in our Social Link?"
For quite a while, he didn't respond at all, but he stopped continuing the games dialogue too; he just sat there ildly.
"..We're still on a last name basis. I don't know. Don't ask me stuff like that," he countered and continued on with the game. Not the answer you wanted, but he had a decent point, you admit.
"Well...would you mind if I called you Tomura instead?" You awkwardly interrogated, this being the first time you had said his first name outloud.
The masked boy responded without much hesitation for once. "No, I guess not. Do what you want." Those words instantly pasted a huge smile onto your face.
"Yay!" You couldn't help but giggle. "I'd like it if you called me (F/N), too, then, Tomura." It was easy for you to express your joy in that assertion. Calling him by his first name made you feel a strange kind of warmth inside, which may or may not have slightly flushed your cheeks too.
"Okay."
You couldn't see it with his back turned on you and "father" covering his face, but hearing that slight endearment made him smile in such a soft way. Which he hated.

Many beaten games and losses for you later, you two became quite comfortable around each other. You never really anticipated to be friends with any of the League members besides Himiko, but especially not Tomura. What you really didn't anticipate, however, was that warm, fuzzy feeling that wouldn't leave you when you were near him or even thinking about him. You weren't dumb, so you knew what that meant, but that doesn't mean you didn't try to forget about it and avoid it still. But you did a pretty bad job.

"Hey, Tomura?"
"Mm?"
"Can I see your face?"

You had seen him when he wasn't wearing "father" before, but it was from afar, and wasn't very often. You hadn't really taken a close look at his features at all. You knew why you actually wanted to see his face so badly, but you mentally excused it with 'why wouldn't I wanna know what my friend looks like?'
"Why do you want to?" He interrogated, no anger or anything of the sort necessarily in his tone.
"Well, if I always had on a mask or something, wouldn't you wanna know what I looked like too?"
"Probably not."
"Okay...well...thanks...but anyways, I'd just like to see your face. Just curious is all."
With no other remarks, he placed four fingers onto the hand covering his face and gently removed it. As he placed "father" onto the bar's counter, he turned his head to face you with an unexpressionative look. Moments passed as you looked at him, not speaking any words. Your attention was quite quickly brought to his lips - they were very dry, which you figured was because of his quirk, somehow. In addition, he had a scar of some sort on the left side of his mouth as well. His fluffy, light blue bangs still obstructed some of his eyes, but your immediate thought was that they were pretty. Not many people had such striking eyes, so you liked them quite a lot. And of course, the undereye bags were present on the other side as well, as you expected. You didn't really think about what you were doing as you lifted your hand to brush the hair off of his face a little; but he didn't stop you. You took notice of the fact that he also had long, pretty eyelashes to accompany his already beautiful irises. He had a rather cutely shaped nose, with a skinny bridge and slight upturn, alongside a more softly curvatured chin. His appearance was beautiful to you, in its own unique way. The warmth inside your chest in that moment made you feel like you were going to overheat and die.
"Are you disgusted by me now?" You watched his lips form those words in a saddening timbre. You had expected he wouldn't like his appearance, given he always hides it, but it still hurt to hear it anyways.
"No, not at all. You may think I'm lying when I say this, but..." You saw his eyebrows slightly lift as you began, "I think you're really pretty. Sorry if that's weird to say..." Tomura was quiet at hearing that and directed his eyes solely to the ground as to not look at you.
"Don't lie to me. It makes me angry." He began to scratch at his neck quite heftly, with more pressure than usual, which worried you.
"It's no lie, really! I love your eyes, hair, cheeks, nose, eyelashes...wowsorrythatssoundscreepyIdidn'tmeantobesoweirdimreallysor-"
"Shut up." You were taken aback by the harshness and felt your stomach sink in when you noticed his neck was bleeding now - and he was showing no signs of stopping his scratching. "Lies piss me off. You...piss me off."
"I don't know why you would say that." You responded, attempting not to show the hurt you felt from his words. Just how terrible of a life has he actually had to make him this way? "Well...it's what I think..." Things began to spiral downwards as he lifted his hand towards you and his eyes narrowed in anger.
"I...told you to shut u-"

You pulled Tomura into a hug.

It was sudden, and you were certain he hadn't been given much or any sort of affection throughout his life, so you weren't surprised when it visibly startled him. But he didn't push you away, nor did he tell you to stop. His arm fell back to his side, and you sat there with your arms around him as he gradually became more stable.
"Are you okay, Tomura?" You made utmost sure that you whispered that in the softest way possible. Not that anyone else would hear you, though, as all the other members had been out for quite a while. He lifted his head up and gazed at you directly, with at least a less angered expression. You almost didn't realize you still had your arms around him as he rather abruptly pushed you off of him. Tomura stood up from his seat and walked off into his room, not saying another word to you. You had a strong feeling of worry in you that you had made the situation so much worse, but you tried not to overthink it too much more than you already were.

You went on a brief trip to go out to eat and shop shortly after the whole scene with Tomura - in hopes to ease your nerves a bit. Now being dusk, you arrived back at the bar and noticed that "father" was still placed on the bar countertop, where Tomura had placed him earlier. He probably would freak out if the other members came back and messed with it...You placed your new belongings on the floor and grabbed the hand, turning your direction towards Tomura's room. This was probably a terrible idea, but hey, it wouldn't be your first.
"Hey, Tomura?" You called out into the, as per usual, almost pitch black room minus the light eminating from the Vita you lended him. "You left your hand on the table, I figured you would want it back," you explained. However, the unstable boy evidently made no steps towards getting up or acknowledging your presence, so you just decided to leave it on the bed next to him.
"By the way, sorry if I did something I shouldn't have earlier..." You softly apologized whilst taking in the bits of his appearance you could see from the Vita's light. You wanted to be sure to commit his face to memory, since you didn't see it often. To your surprise, Tomura moments later placed the console onto the bed, starting to stand up and walk towards you. As he approached you, he stared into your (E/C) irises. You were afraid, admittedly, but he then surpised you by wrapping his arms around you in an awkward hug. Given he was quite a bit taller than you, didn't have a tight grip around you, and wasn't moving at all, you could tell this was the first time he's done this. Your arms wrapped around his torso as well, slightly leaning your face into his chest and rubbing his back.
"I just wanted to touch you again." Abruptly gushed the taller boy as he left your embrace.
"I-I'm really glad I didn't make you uncomfortab-"
*FLASH*
The bright light completely shocked both of you; as your eyes adjusted back to normal, you peeked through the doorway.
Dabi, sneering and laughing to himself while holding his phone up.
"What a shame, I was really hoping to go for you myself, (F/N)," he smirked, "though I see you're already taken." No time had passed before Tomura's hands ravished his neck, obviously angered and walking over towards the doorway where Dabi still stood. Before Tomura had made his complete way to the doorway, Himiko ran up to Dabi from behind, seeing the photo that had just been taken.
"Oh my gosh!! (F/N)!! I told you! I knew your crush liked you back~!!" She flashed her typical toothy grin. "You make such a cute couple!! Come on, Dabi, we should leave them alone!" The blood-obsessed girl swiftly grabbed Dabi's wrist and tugged him away. As they both strutted off, you heard their ever-increasingly distant chuckles.

Tomura regretted that one of the only times he wasn't wearing "father" was when his face was so warm. It was a conflicted feeling, too - he was angry, but he felt like there were butterflies inside of him too. He stood there ildly as he thought back to you willingly touching him moments before he was going to use his quirk on you - killing you - out of a fit of anger. You didn't run...you embraced him. He didn't know what to do with these feelings, he didn't know what he could or should say to you now, he didn't know anything. This poor, neglected boy was too confused to do anything but watch you stand in front of him.
"...(F/N)."
"...Yes, Tomura?"
"What are you doing to me?"
You had no idea what he meant by that.
"Um...D-did I do something wrong? I'm sorry." That was all you could muster up to even think to say. His sad eyes darted at yours, "You're making me feel. I hate it. I can't even look at you without this feeling eating away at me." Again, his nails ate away at the skin on his neck.
You didn't know what to do and you knew that he didn't either. You only sat on the bed, and merely gestured him to do the same - next to you. As this broken boy was so close to you, you closed the distance further and pulled him into another hug from the side.
"How does this make you feel, Tomura?" You spoke as if your volume would break him if you weren't careful.
"Terrible. But wonderful too. I want to kill you. But I never want you to leave." He had one arm around you and the other by his neck, continuing to scratch away. You lifted your face to the left side of his neck, the side he wasn't scratching, and kissed it in the softest way possible.
"Nnghh...Stop it. I hate you." He was nearly trembling at your touch. You knew he didn't mean his words, as he could easily kill you in an instant if he just placed one more finger on you..So you kissed his neck again. A few more times, specifically on the areas most red and torn. And he never stopped you. You readjusted your position in order to place a kiss onto his face, but he countered you by gripping onto your wrists and pushing you to lay on your back. Now, he hovered over you as he pinned down, slowly lowering himself. He brought his lips to your neck, ever-so-slightly pressing them against your skin. As he placed these light, tiny kisses on your neck, you brought your hands to the top of his hair and ran your fingers through it. As you thought - it was soft. You both melted under each other's touch.
"Dabi is so stupid..so, so stupid.." the boy uttered under his breath, "you're mine, mine, only mine." The kisses against your neck continued with hints of more pressure. "Only I can touch you..." He bit the skin, causing you to flinch. "I can do whatever I want with you because you're mine." Tomura's breathless words were burning into your chest, until suddenly, he pulled himself off of you. "Say you're mine, (F/N)."
"I'm yours, Tomura," his burning, fire-red eyes were staring deeply into yours, "only yours." His smile was so beautiful to you, you couldn't help but smile back. As much as you didn't want this moment to end, Tomura killed the moment in an urgent, sitting back up. "As you saw earlier...everyone else in the League is here now," He informed you, "and we have a mission tonight. So go prepare yourself." With that, he stood up, grabbed "father", placed it on his face again, and left.

Who would've thought getting your ass kicked in Smash would lead to this?
