Work Text:
Kazu is amazing. Ever since they first met, when Sakuma fell and Kazu offered him a hand, he has been totally in awe of him. He’s just so kind and strong and amazing at cheerleading, and as Sakuma thinks he’s just… amazing.
So of course it’s all because of Kazu that he decided to join the Breakers. He learns that he is a flier just like Kazu, and he grins some more; they have so much in common! And so he talks to Kazu all the time when they aren’t pratising, chats to him on the group chat, and generally acts like Kazu’s shadow.
But after a few weeks of cheerleading practise, Sakuma starts to wonder just what his feelings towards Kazu are. He blushes when he sees Kazu all sweaty in the locker room after practise, his chest toned. Does… does he have a crush on Kazu?
Yes, he does. And with Valentine’s Day coming up, he gets an idea. He’ll make Kazu some chocolates to show him just how much he cares for him. And so Sakuma ropes Haruki into helping him make the chocolates and he walks up to Kazu in practise that morning and holds the box out to him and grins.
“Here you are, Kazu,” he says. “A present to say how grateful I am for making this team, and…” He starts to go red. “A way to show you how I really feel about you.”
He stares down at his feet, blushing. Kazu takes the box and the rest of the team babble about what he just said.
“Uh, Sakuma,” Kazu says awkwardly. “I’m really, really flattered, but I’m straight.”
“Oh… okay. Sorry.”
“It’s okay. And thanks for the chocolate.” Kazu smiles.
Still, it takes him weeks to look Kazu in the eye again.
