Work Text:

“Is it happening? Is it happening???”

“No sweetie, I’m- I’m just having a little pain because of where he’s sitting.”

“Booooo, I want him to come out already!! Come out, come out, come out!!!”

You sighed as your daughter continued to chant, hopping around in a crescent shape behind you as you leaned over the dresser. The baby was seriously pressing on a nerve or something and it was killing you- a hyperactive and yelling 4 year old was not what you needed added to the equation right now.

“What’s this I hear about the baby coming??” A breathless Taehyung wheezed from the doorway as he practically body slammed into the frame in his haste to get to the bedroom.

You rolled your eyes, pressing your hands a little harder into the soft wood of the dresser as you leaned over it. “No, the baby isn’t coming, I’m only 7 months along, jesus christ... “

“But he SHOULD come, don’t you think daddy? It’s been so LONG already!!” your daughter pouted as she skipped up to your husband.

Grinning wide, Taehyung wrapped his large hands around her little waist and flung her up into the air with a “waaah~~!” as she let out a shout of giggles. “I think so too!! He’s been keeping us waiting for so long! Hey, maybe if we call out to him reeeeeal loudly, he’ll hear us and hurry up!”

Your eyes shot open, crazy and a little bloodshot. Tilting your head slightly towards him, you gave a menacing growl. “Taehyung… don’t even th-”

“COME OUT BABY!!! COME OUT COME OUT COME OUT AND PLAAAAAAY!!”

“YEAH!! COME OUT BABY!!! COME AND BE MY BROTHER!! YAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY!!!”

The devil and his little hellspawn danced around the room with hands clasped together and they skipped and sang their screams between giggling and short screeches.

With an annoyed sigh and growing headache, you turned and straightened, arm raised and mouth dropping open to scold the two. A strict scolding was not the noise that left your mouth, however, and the room that was once filled with happy screeches and singing went quiet. All at once, warm hands pressed against your back as you doubled over, the pain from how the baby was sitting leaving you unable to stand up straight.

“Sweetheart--!!! Are you ok? What’s wrong, what can I do?” Taehyung’s low baritone soothed over your frayed nerves as he gently rubbed circles into your back. You attempted to give him a weak smile, stopping short as little hands gripped the sides of your pant leg.

Sighing a little, you weaved a hand through your daughter’s fluffy hair, shushing away her tears as she looked up at you.

“I’m sorry, momma…”

“Sorry? Oh, my sweet little dumpling, you didn’t do anything. Shhhh, don’t cry now, it’s alright. You know what? I think you just made your little brother so excited he was ready to come out and meet you!”

Little brown eyes perked up at that, brightening as she gasped at you. “R-really?!”

You nodded, smiling. “Yup! But, the thing is, momma isn’t quite ready for him. I still need time to get my body ready so he can come out, and that’s not going to happen for a few months still, ok? Can you be patient and wait till then so that momma can be ready too?” You daughter nodded, firm determination in her squishy face. “That’s my girl~”

Taehyung chuckled lightly. “Alright then, little princess, how about you go clean up your toys in the living room and I’ll start making dinner? We’ll get the house all set up so momma doesn’t have to worry about anything except getting ready for your little brother!!”

Your daughter let out a cheer and raced from the room, the quick pitter-patter of her feet on the wood bringing a smile to your face. Taehyung’s face suddenly filled your vision as he knelt beside you, concern and worry laced into his features.

“Are you really ok…? I didn’t mean to, make you overexert yourself or anything…”

Sighing, you softly patted your husband on the shoulder. “It’s alright Tae, but maybe don’t start a screaming contest in the bedroom when I’m bloated and constantly in pain?”

He chuckled and kissed your wrist. “Of course, I’ll keep the screaming to a minimum. Now, tell me what I can do to help ease you of this pain our little brat is causing you.”

“The doctor said massage can help move the baby if it’s in an uncomfortable position.”

Taehyung nodded and stood, placing his hands on your back and waist to help maneuver you onto the bed. You let out soft groans of discomfort as you tried to find a position to lie down in that wouldn’t cause you as much pain, finally settling on your side with Taehyung kneeling behind you. Gently, he began pressing on your side, his lithe fingers working into the nerves and muscles along the side of your belly to try and coax the baby into moving. Gradually, you felt the pain lessen and it became easier to breathe and relax. Taehyung’s warm hands slid over your thighs and back before he pressed a kiss to your shoulder.

“Is that better?” You huffed out an affirmation, too blissed out on being rid of the pain to form a complete answer. “Good~ Then stay here, my beautiful world, and I’ll come get you later for dinner.” He whispered the words softly to you as he pressed a kiss to your temple before the bed dipped and lightened as he climbed off of it. Deciding a nap was the right course of action, you settled down into the pillows with only vague thoughts of Tae burning the house down with the stove drifting through your mind.

*****************************

“It wasn’t that bad.”

“There was so much salt in it that it’s become a viral meme.”

“Rude. I’m going to tell Jin- I followed his recipe perfectly so really, you’re hating on him.”

You rolled your eyes at your husband. “You and I both know that Jin can do no wrong when it comes to the kitchen, this one was all on you.”

Taehyung scoffed and pulled you closer as you cuddled on the bed together. “It’s the pregnancy making you say crazy things, that pork was perfect and your taste buds are just wrong.”

You giggled and turned a bit in your husband’s solid hold. He grinned back at you and placed a kiss on your nose. Gently, you rubbed a thumb over his bicep as he nuzzled into your hair, a soft sigh escaping him before the creak of the bedroom door had him glancing over his shoulder.

“Well hello there, my sweet bean paste biscuit roll!! What brings you to our cozy little room?”

Your daughter giggled at her father’s weird pet name and climbed up on the bed with his help. “I wanted to see how momma was doing. Are you ok? Is my little brother still hurting you?”

“No sweetie, he’s just fine right now.” You reassured her and rolled over to sit against the headboard. Taehyung quickly rearranged some pillows to sit you slightly upright and more comfortable. You daughter nodded and went silent for a few minutes before fidgeting with the bottom of her night shirt. “What is, love?”

“I was just wondering… does it really have to still be months before he comes out? He can’t come out any sooner? Are you sure?”

You sighed, unsure what to say at the doe eyed little girl in front of you. Damn those puppy-dog eyes… But before you even had a chance to say anything, Taehyung was leaning over and pulling her close, like a conspirator about to reveal information he had gathered.

“Hey.. I bet if he ask him to, he’ll come out and play sooner, what do you think? But this time we have to be really quiet so we don’t make him too excited and hurt momma. Ok? Think you can do that?”

Your daughter nodded emphatically and they both leaned over your stomach. You let out a noise of disbelief as they began their chant, your daughter's little hands fisted into your shirt and Taehyung’s large ones rubbing soft patterns on your waist. Weirdly, it was all pretty soothing, and you sank back into the pillows, the soft chants of the two loves of your life asking the soon to be third one to come out and play, lulling you to sleep.
