melt away

Summary:

Ochako was careful. She’d taken measures to be sure no one knew about her crush. Of course, it would be a game of truth or dare that would bring it into the spotlight.

Work Text:

“Truth or dare?”

Ochako considered her options. On the one hand, choosing truth would inevitably lead to the dreaded question. On the other, Mina would be the one coming up with her dare and the pink girl had absolutely no shame. This really was a lose-lose situation. Finally, she gave a sigh and sealed her fate.

“Truth.”

“Yes! Finally, I can know the answer!! Is your crush on Iida or Midoriya?!” Mina yelled excitedly, squealing with anticipation. Ochako’s relief was palpable; Mina had asked the wrong question.

“Neither,” She answered with a grin.

“What?! But I was so sure it was one of them!” Mina pouted. “Who is it then?”

“Nope, it’s my turn now! Momo, truth or dare?”

As the game continued, Mina and Hagakure put their heads together. They needed to know who Uraraka was crushing on! It was obvious that she wasn’t going to choose truth again if one of them were the ones asking, but they had ways of getting around that. They’d find out if it was the last thing they did!

Finally, their time had come. Hagakure had just completed what surely would’ve been an embarrassing dare if she wasn’t invisible. While no one could actually see her, it was obvious to everyone that she had her devious face on. “Uraraka! Truth or dare?”

Ochako wore a smug smile as she answered. “Dare.”

The smile dropped when the other girl laughed. Ochako had been driven into a trap and there was no backing out now. “I dare you...to go kiss your crush!”

Despite being dared, she made no move to get up. Her face was turning dark red at a startling pace and she was muttering incomprehensibly, something she must have picked up from all the time spent with Midoriya.

Jirou interrupted, “You seem a little too concerned about this. It’s a game, you’re allowed to chicken out.” Booing and disagreements came from the girls responsible for Uraraka’s state.

Ochako took a calming breath, her face still reminiscent of a fire truck. “No, I-I’ll do it.” She was determined. If this was going to ruin everything, she’d at least get to have this one moment. She stood and took a step into the middle of the circle.

“Hey, Jirou?”

“Yeah?”

“Sorry about this.” She leaned down and smashed their lips together. It wasn’t the best kiss in the world, one person too shocked to respond and the other too nervous and inexperienced, but it was more than Ochako ever thought she’d have. She pulled back quickly and, ignoring the whoops and hollers from the other girls, turned to leave the room.

Jirou’s hand on her arm stopped her. Turning, she kept her eyes down to avoid the gaze of the girl she’d just kissed.

“Uraraka,” Jirou started calmly. “Ochako.”

Ochako’s head snapped up, eyes wide.

“I really want to kiss you now. Are you okay with that?” She answered Jirou’s question with a slow nod, still shocked. “Good.”

The room, their audience, it all melted away as their lips met once more.
