Work Text:

Dabi woke soundlessly, eyes fluttering open as sunlight flitted across his face. He could hear the sounds of the city streets far below, and could feel the breaths that Hawks let out, puffing soft and warm against Dabi’s purpling skin. He let out a soft grunt, body stiffening in a motionless stretch, feeling his joints pop softly, before moving to pull away from the warm body next to him.

Hawks rustled, one of his wings moving to hover over Dabi, who had frozen the second he had felt the other move.

“Dabi?” Hawks murmured, hand moving to rest on Dabi’s clothed chest, making the man let out a soft hum.

“I sure hope so,” Dabi teased, voice raspy from sleep. He chuckled when he heard Hawks grunt curt shut up . His gaze moved to watch Hawks shifting, the other man’s eyes still closed as sleep drifted over him like warm water, but even watching the winged man as peaceful as this, Dabi couldn’t help the next words that left his lips, trying to keep the same teasing tone he had used earlier. “Do you get other men in your bed enough that you’d have to ask if it’s me?”

Hawks opened one eye lazily, but the gaze he settled on Dabi was still intense. Dabi blanched, knowing he hadn’t hidden his insecurity as well as he had hoped.

It wasn’t something they talked about: the unofficialness of this. And, of course it was unofficial. Hawks was a hero, and Dabi… well, Dabi lived with the weight of many deaths on his shoulders. Yet…

Yet he couldn’t stand the thought of Hawks being with someone else. Got immensely jealous when he saw the blonde walking around town with others. Dabi knew there was much he and Hawks would never get the chance of doing, but that didn’t make it hurt less. He knew the only time they’d be able to spend together was here, at the top of one of the tallest buildings Musutafu had. That this was the only place Dabi could hold Hawks in his lap, gently petting the soft crimson feathers that adorned his wings. Knew that this small room was the only place he could look at Hawks without having to hide a single thing.

Hawks shifted, snapping Dabi out of his thoughts. Dabi watched as the hero moved to sit on the scarred flesh of his thighs, resting his head on the smoother skin of Dabi’s chest.

“Do you think I do?” Hawks asked softly, his wings stretching wide and shaking out. Dabi scoffed, trying to turn his face away, only to be stopped by the gentle feeling of Hawks’ fingers against his jaw. Dabi took a deep breath and looked into the golden eyes that were locked on his. Dabi felt his fears creeping into his head, but the gentle look on Hawks’ face, a worried crease in his brow, the smallest hints of a frown on his lips, made the fears slow to a crawl. Dabi took in the hero’s appearance, hair bed-ruffled, face puffy and tinged red from sleep, the piercings in his ears switched to a pair Dabi had brought over for himself, but Hawks had stolen the second Dabi put them down, looking so utterly comfortable in the villains presence, that he couldn’t help but think, maybe there shouldn’t be any fears in his brain at all.

“No,” Dabi whispered finally, watching the crease in Hawks’ brow smooth out and his lips twitch into a small smile.

“Good,” Hawks replied, moving to press his lips against Dabi’s, neither of them caring about morning breath.

Dabi could feel his chest constrict and tighten, hands moving to Hawks’ thighs, fingers digging into the supple flesh. Hawks let out a low hum, letting Dabi play with the smooth skin, nipping at Dabi’s rough lower lip with a smirk. The burned man grinned into the kiss, feeling his skin stretch as his piercings struggle to keep his skin together. When Hawks started to pull away, Dabi removed his hands from the other’s thighs, letting them drift up the ash haired hero’s arms as Hawks moved to caress Dabi’s pinched jaw, his fingers brushing softly under the split of smooth to burnt skin, wiping a small droplet of blood that had formed. He leaned forward and captured Dabi’s lips again, coaxing the anxiety out of the dark haired man’s bones with each meeting of their lips.

Dabi is a villain, and Hawks is a hero, but in these moments, the softness of Hawks’ kisses against his skin, feeling more comfortable in his skin than he could ever remember feeling, Dabi isn’t a villain. Dabi isn’t even Dabi… He’s--

“C’mon Touya,” Hawks whispered, pulling back and dragging the burned man out of bed with him. “Let’s eat something.”

Touya smiled, and followed.
