Chapter 1: Myth

Chapter Text

Myth

Everyone in the small village knew the tale, the myth, the love story. It was told to children as a bedtime story. It was made to be the standard in love lives, the hopes and dreams of every single person.

This is the tale of two creatures, two guardians, two lovers; the sun and the moon.

As the guardian was preparing to make the moon go down again, to make the night end, he saw something. Something he felt was important, important to him.

He decided to stay a bit longer that time, to find out what - or who - would become his lover in this lifetime and every single lifetime after that.

The moon, also known by the name the gods above gave him, Shouta, didn't know that yet, of course. He only knew that this thing was calling him, calling out to him.

Shouta finished his task and followed his heart. He walked in the direction his body seemed to gravitate towards and ended up at a lake. Just at the edge of the water there was a person crouched down, watching the sun rise ever so slowly. Apparently they had heard Shouta approaching and turned their body towards him, letting Shouta see the absolute beauty in front of him.

This person, who seemed to be male, had unruly curls, eyes that shined as bright as the sun itself, and robes, much like his own but gold and red in colour compared to his black and dark blue ones. The thing that drew him in however, was this man’s smile. So carefree and open. It made him give a slight smile of his own in return.

Thinking that his appearance was the most beautiful part of this man, was a huge mistake on Shouta’s part. That thought came to him when he heard the man speak, his voice as soft as the feeling you get from being outside early in the morning, all alone and peaceful, calm.

“Hello, may I help you?” The man looked to be 16 or 17, but looks could be deceiving, after all.

“Good morning, that won’t be necessary, I just felt compelled to come here.” Shouta also felt the need to be completely true and honest to this angel, he found he didn’t mind.

“Oh, it’s good to follow your heart, it always seems to know best. My name is Izuku. May I ask who you are?” The man now identified as Izuku stood up and reached out a hand for the moon guardian to shake.

“Izuku” He tried the name unconsciously, only noticing when he saw the blush spreading over Izuku’s face. “My name is Shouta, I am the moon guardian.” He took the hand offered to him and marveled at the softness of it, savouring every touch without exactly knowing why.

“The moon guardian!” Izuku sprung up at the revelation, seemingly unable to hold still. “I am the sun guardian! Maybe that’s why you felt you had to come here, it must be destiny!” He gave a huge grin and appeared incredibly happy, something that the humans didn’t often associate with Shouta.

That would certainly explain why Shouta wanted to hold and possibly cherish Izuku for as long as he could. “Destiny… That may very well be, Izuku. I am glad it is you, and not someone else that is my future.”

“Wha-what? Future? I don’t fully understand, Shouta.” He nervously muttered to himself, not seeing how badly Shouta was affected by him saying his name.

“Do you not feel the same connection I do? From the moment I saw you, I knew.” Shouta prided himself in not stuttering and keeping down his blush under the gaze of the pure beauty he was certain was his soulmate.

“Connection? I must admit I felt something click when you arrived, but does that mean… you are… No, nevermind, what did you know?” For the first time since meeting him, Izuku was bashful, timid. It looked wrong on him, like he was supposed to be confident and in the spotlight. Like the sun.

“It is like you said, Izuku. Destiny. I am fairly sure we are soulmates. You are the first person to make me feel anything. In the name of the gods, we are both guardians of the same world, working together and I just know that this is how the gods intended it.”

He seemed conflicted, like  he had something to say but didn’t know how. Until, finally, he spoke. “As I said, I felt a click as well, but I am not comfortable with jumping into this without actually knowing you, Shouta. Let us talk more, when you are free, come to this place and I will do the same. Consider them… dates.” with a small smile he strode up to Shouta, getting on his toes and landing a small kiss on his cheek. “I look forward to talking again, Shouta. Have a good day, I will see you soon.”

Shouta could only nod, not trusting his voice to cooperate. When he was sure Izuku left, he reached up to touch his cheek, replaying the small act of affection over and over again in his mind. He’d make sure to spend all of his free time in this exact spot, already knowing that this quickly became his favourite place.

Arriving at the place where he met the most handsome man he ever saw, Izuku noticed Shouta sitting in the place he sat the day before. He stayed quiet and observed the guardian he couldn’t get out of his mind.

After watching him for a good ten minutes, Izuku decided to do something, it would not end how he expected, but he didn’t mind.

He slowly crept up to Shouta, putting his hands just above his shoulders and the-

Of course Shouta had noticed him, his angel. Shouta turned around at the last second which Izuku certainly hadn’t expected. Izuku jumped and because his hands actually had made contact with his shoulders, fell right on top of Shouta, both tumbling to the ground.

When all movement stopped, so did sound. Izuku was mortified, Shouta was enjoying the view. They had landed in a suggestive position, Shouta on his back with his angel on his chest.

“A-ah, I’m sorry! I didn’t-” Izuku’s words were cut off as his handsome guardian wrapped his arms around him.

“Don’t worry, I quite like it this way, to be honest. We can stay this way if you want to.” Shouta’s words were innocent, but his tone was not.

“Uhm… We can, uhm, cuddle? If that’s what you want. Yeah, that’d be really nice... “ Nearing the end of the sentence he had started muttering again, completely unaware of Shouta’s gaze.

He couldn’t help it, the boy was just so cute. He felt the need to pinch his cheeks and without thinking, did just that. It sort of worked in his favour as Izuku stopped short and looked at him with those incredibly wide eyes. “Di-did I start rambling again?” He turned his head away and wiggled around, trying to get free.

Shouta was having none of that, however, and sat up, bringing Izuku into his lap. “My sun, I would love to do all those things with you. Nothing to be ashamed of, I like seeing this side of you.” Taking Izuku’s face in one hand with his thumb on his chin, touching his bottom lip slightly, he turned Izuku towards him again.

Clueless on Clueless on what to do, Izuku placed his hands on Shouta’s chest, gripping the robes that covered it. “I… I don’t… I’ve never… had this before. But I want to. With you.” His voice started out meekly but quickly shifted into confidence and determination as he made up his mind.

“Izuku, I promise you, you’ll never have to do anything you don’t want to. I’ll protect you to the best of my abilities and take care of you.” Every word seemed to draw both closer to each other. With Shouta’s hands on Izuku’s hips and Izuku’s on his shoulders, their lips touched for the first time of what would be many.

That night the first ever solar eclipse occured. A phenomenon where the moon passes between the earth and the sun, masking it completely. People say that if you listened really closely, you could hear the guardians.

“I love you, my moon.”

“I love you as well, my sun.”
