Work Text:

Jeongguk has a secret. A secret that comes in the form of a tall, sparkling beauty with short, rolled hair, long legs, and an endless supply of pastel skirts. A secret named Taehyung.

See, in a town where following the norm is the only way to go, Jeongguk is a the prize model in all his James Dean roguish features and star athlete persona. The ace of his class, the one to look out for. With the head cheerleader, Joy, on his arm and a full ride to Princeton in his future.

In a town where following the norm is the only way to go, Taehyung Kim is the rare exception.

All 5 feet and 11 inches of stunning beauty, wrapped up in silky blouses and heavy skirts that swish around dainty ankles, Taehyung Kim is a force to be reckoned with, Jeongguk thinks. In a town ruled by social norms, Taehyung is the exception, breaking down every barrier and looking flawless as he does it. No one is quite sure what to do with Taehyung, knows that they can’t stop him but scared that his ideals will spread, so they do their best to keep him as tightly contained as they can. But he’s got a flair for the dramatic and the unstoppable persona of a hurricane, blowing into Jeongguk’s life without a thought.

Jeongguk is sure Taehyung doesn’t remember their first meeting, but the moment is ingrained in Jeongguk’s mind, forever taunting him.

He’d been late to football practice, rushing through the halls and throwing his bag over his shoulder when it catches on someone going the opposite direction. Before he truly registered what was happening, Taehyung’s books had gone crashing to the ground, and so did Taehyung.

Jeongguk had dropped to the floor instantly to help recover the fallen literature, when he looked up and met Taehyung’s eyes for the first time and froze. In that moment he’s sure the heavens parted and shone down on Taehyung, who sat there dazed and beautiful. His hair was awry, falling into his face, lips parted in a confused ‘o’, heavy skirt pooling around him. Jeongguk scrambled to stand and help the other boy up, and the resulting smile he got in return for his actions nearly sent Jeongguk right back to the floor. The upperclassman had thanked him softly and gathered his books before carrying on his way, but Jeongguk stood stock still for another minute before he could continue on to practice.

It was from that first moment that Jeongguk fell for the enigma that was Taehyung Kim, and never went back.

Jeongguk tugs on his roller skates and ties them up as tight as he can, but his mind is elsewhere. Specifically, on the boy with a squared off smile that’s currently spinning circles around the rink, perfectly rolled hair floating around him like a halo. Jeongguk’s not quite sure he believes in angels, but he does believe in Taehyung Kim.

“Come on,” And there’s a tug at his arm, small hands dragging him upright. He smiles at Joy, allowing himself to be pulled into a standing position so they can roll towards the rink.

It’s something they do every Friday after school lets out for the weekend, have been doing since they were in grade school. Joy had grown up next door to him, and when they’d both aged into their current selves, Jeongguk well built and well mannered, Joy a willowy princess with the energy of a tiger, it seemed only natural for them to get together. They suit each other well, and get on even better, the golden high school sweethearts everyone expects to stay together for years to come. Jeongguk doesn’t mind being with Joy, enjoys it immensely in fact, but there’s something in him that tugs at his stomach and suggests this isn’t where he’s meant to be. He ignores it for both their sakes, and glides alongside Joy with hands intertwined, just like they always do.

They’ve made it around at least a dozen times and taken a break twice when Joy lets out a gasp.

“Oh! I forgot I’ve got to get home early today, Yeri needs help with something.”

“Do you need a ride?” Jeongguk asks.

Joy flashes him a sweet smile. “It’s okay, pops is coming to pick me up. Will you be alright on your own?”

Jeongguk’s never been at the rink on his own before, but he supposes he will be. There aren’t too many people who are here without their other half and it makes Jeongguk feel a bit awkward, but he’s not quite ready to head home yet so once Joy skates out of the rink, Jeongguk continues around, eyes focused on his feet.

Which is why, he supposes, he promptly runs into someone and sends them both into the nearest wall.

And of course, because Jeongguk has the best of luck, when he looks up to see who was his unfortunate victim in the accident, he finds it to be none other than Taehyung Kim.

The boy is clutching at his ankle, wincing in pain, and Jeongguk feels his stomach lurch.

“Oh gosh, are you okay?” He asks, helping Taehyung up and out of the rink. Taehyung nods, but his face is pale, and once they manage to get the skate off his foot his ankle is already turning purple.

“I’m so, so sorry.” Jeongguk blurts out, hands fluttering over the injured ankle without any clue what to do.

“It’s okay.” Taehyung says weakly, “I know it was an accident.”

“Can I get you anything? Ice? Medicine? A call home?”

Taehyung waves him off. “You don’t need to do any of that, honest. I’ll be alright.”

But Jeongguk still feels guilty, so he presses on. “Please, let me treat you to something at least. A burger? Shakes?”

Taehyung chances a smile. “I could always go for a shake from Mindy’s.”

So that’s how they end up across the street at the 24/7 diner, sat across from one another with Taehyung’s leg propped up and ankle iced. Jeongguk fidgets in his seat, unsure where to go from here. If he’s being honest, he’s not quite sure where he got the title of charming football quarterback because while the second was easy, the first couldn’t be further from the truth. Jeongguk is shy. Jeongguk is awkward. Jeongguk is the furthest thing from charming and right now it’s painfully obvious. Taehyung doesn’t seem to mind though, humming quietly as he stares out the window, playing with the napkin dispenser.

The waitress sets two shakes down in front of the pair, vanilla for Jeongguk and strawberry for Taehyung.

Taehyung wrinkles his nose at that.

“Plain ol’ vanilla?”

“It’s good!” Jeongguk protests. “Vanilla is classic!”

“But have you tried strawberry?” Taehyung urges. “You haven’t lived until you’ve had Mindy’s strawberry malt.”

Jeongguk has not, in fact, ever had a strawberry malt. He’d had vanilla the first time he came and stuck with it ever since, the way he did most things. Taehyung isn’t having it though, and he shoves the glass towards Jeongguk, urging him to try it.

So Jeongguk does, taking a tentative sip and then another one, because wow, that sure is delicious.

He tells Taehyung as much, awe in his voice, and Taehyung giggles.

“Told ya so.”

Jeongguk almost turns and asks for a strawberry malt right then and there. But then, he could always just do so next time, right?

“We should do this again sometime, Jeon.”

Jeongguk flushes. “A-again?”

Taehyung nods, swirling his straw around the glass to mix in the whipped cream. “You’re interesting, Jeongguk Jeon. I want to get to know you.”

Something has changed. Jeongguk isn’t quite sure what, exactly, but he’s certain it has to do with Taehyung. When he walks through the halls, their eyes meet and Taehyung levels him with a smile so bright it puts the sun to shame. They don’t talk in school— Jeongguk has a reputation to keep and Taehyung is kind to that fact— but they find other ways to talk instead.

That lit presentation was incredible, Tae

Good luck at the game!

You looked cute in that polka dot skirt

Meet at Mindy’s tonight?

Little notes, shoved through locker door grates, that send Jeongguk’s heart a-flutter every time he gives or receives one. They aren’t much, little more than single sentence questions or compliments, but they make Jeongguk feel some typa way.

He’s not sure if these feelings mean anything, but he does know that whenever Taehyung is in his peripherals he gets the urge to hold his hand. Fear takes him by the hand instead, dragging him away every time he’s tempted to do so. He lets Joy hang onto his arm through the halls instead, chatting animatedly with her and trying to ignore the way he yearns to include Taehyung in their conversations.

“Hey,” Joy elbows Jeongguk, looking concerned. “You good there? You seem out of it.”

Jeongguk smiles and wraps an arm around her slim waist. “I’m all good. We still on for skate tonight?”

Joy snorts, un-ladylike. But then maybe that’s what Jeongguk likes so much about his girlfriend— she’s not afraid to show herself, even if herself isn’t always what people want, and still manages to hold her social status. Jeongguk wonders what would happen if he ever let loose the way she does. “Of course we are, when are we not?” They reach Jeongguk’s locker, and he can see the corner of a note sticking through the grates.

“I’ll see you tonight then. Pick you up at 6?”

Joy grins and leans in to press a kiss to Jeongguk’s cheek. “See you then.”

When she’s out of sight, Jeongguk shimmies the note out and opens it up, a bit too eagerly, maybe. There, in Taehyung’s tight script, is a simple request.

Mindy’s after Skate?

Jeongguk grins and folds the note back up, tucking it into his pocket.

When he passes Taehyung in the hallway ten minutes later, he whispers as he passes by, “see you then.”

He misses the way Taehyung grins and blushes at the floor.

It’s late one night, half till Jeongguk’s curfew when he finds himself in Mindy’s with Taehyung, sipping on matching strawberry malts. There’s not as many people here so late at night, just an elderly pair of men sitting in the back talking quietly, and a woman in her late 20s sipping away at a coffee with a romance novel in hand.

Taheyung’s feet kick underneath the table, toes brushes Jeongguk’s legs every once in a while, chattering happily about the past week. He’s got a way of talking about the world around them that always draws Jeongguk in. Even the most mundane things, like Mr. Peters 3rd hour English class.

Good Golly, Miss Molly starts up on the jukebox, Little Richard’s voice filling the room, and Taehyung all but shrieks. “I love this song! Oh, Jeongguk, come and dance with me.”

Jeongguk shakes his head, staying resolutely in the booth. “Oh no, no no no.”

Taehyung pouts. “You're no fun!” And spins, skirt billowing around him. He looks a bit ridiculous, dancing without a care in the middle of a diner at 10pm, but he looks so happy, like the world’s problems have fallen away. His feet shuffle across the floor, clad in white sneakers and socks rolled right above his ankles. He uses his skirt to his advantage, swishing it back and forth as he kicks up his feet, laughing uncontrollably. The song ends much too soon, and Taehyung sets himself back into the booth, breathing heavy.

“You’re ridiculous.” Jeongguk laughs.

“You love it.” Taehyung quips, sucking down his shake. Jeongguk chuckles as a reply.

They finish ten minutes later, glasses empty and tip on the table.

“You head out to the car, I’ll be there in a moment.”

Taehyung nods and slips out the front while Jeongguk heads into the bathroom.

Five minutes later, as Jeongguk goes to leave, he passes by the table with the two old men and is stopped by a short, “Hey, kid.”

“Hmm?” Jeongguk turns around, slightly nervous. They’d surely seen him and Taehyung, especially Taehyung dancing, and he worries they’re about to say something awful. It wouldn’t be the first time.

“Your friend there sure knows how to let loose.” One of the men comments, smiling a soft, heart shaped smile. His face is lined with the wrinkles of someone who smiles often, and he’s clasping the hand of the man beside him. Jeongguk’s heart thumps unevenly at the sight, and it takes a lot to pull his eyes away, but not before he’s imagined him and Taehyung like that, old and weathered and clinging to each other like they were each other’s universes.

“Thank-thank you.” Jeongguk stutters. “Have a good night.” And he scurries out into the night. Taehyung is waiting for him by the car just as Jeongguk asked him to, leaning against the door with ankles crossed and hands folded in front of him.

“What was that about?” He motions towards the window, where the two men can be seen clearly.

“They just told me how good a dancer you are.”

Taehyung bites his lip and grins. “Really?”

“Mmhmm.” Jeongguk hums.

“And what did you think?”

Jeongguk can’t help it— he takes Taehyung’s hands in his. “You’re always incredible, Taehyung.”

Taehyung laughs. “Alright casanova, lets get home.”

Jeongguk parks the car at the edge of the cliff, overlooking the entire city.

“Is this your secret make out spot?” Taehyung teases, though his voice is shaky. Part of Jeongguk trills at the idea that he could make the great Taehyung Kim nervous.

“Why, do you want it to be?” He teases Taehyung, shooting him a half-smirk as he gets out.

“In your dreams.” Taehyung scoffs, hopping out of the car. Jeongguk retrieves a blanket from the backseat and flattens it across the ground, straightening out the edges before sitting down and patting the space beside him for Taehyung.

The two lay out across the blanket, staring up at the night sky for what feels like an eternity and nothing at the same time.

“You know, you remind me of the stars.” Jeongguk says at some point, voice hushed.

“That’s sad, I don’t want to be a star.” Jeongguk turns to look at Taehyung, and what he finds is the elder boy frowning as his eyes contemplate the sky.

“Why not?”

“It’s awful lonely up there, don’t you think? Millions of miles apart from each other, shining on their own.”

“But that’s what you do, isn’t it? Shine on your own.”

Taehyung sighs, and when he turns to look at Jeongguk his eyes are glistening ever so slightly. “Maybe. But don’t you think it would be nicer to have someone who shines with you?”

It’s a loaded question, one Jeongguk doesn’t quite have the answer to yet. He swallows hard and averts his gaze back to the stars. He’d never thought about how lonely it must be for Taehyung, being the only one so unapologetically themselves in a town that fought so hard against doing so. He’d always admired Taehyung for the guts he had to do such a thing, but he’d never guessed that someone who seemed to take everything in stride could be suffering too.

“You’re the strongest person I’ve ever met.” Jeongguk announces in the end.

Taehyung snorts. “Sure.”

“I mean it.” And Jeongguk is rolling back over, eyes capturing Taehyung’s. “You walk through life as if none of it can touch you, and even if it does, you keep going. You’re not afraid to be you. I’ve always wished I could be even half as strong as you.”

“You underestimate yourself.” Taehyung says, voice soft. “I think you’re stronger than you could ever believe.”

When Jeongguk breaks up with Joy, she takes it much better than the rest of the school does. In fact, she seems quite content with going back to being just friends while the rest of the school riots at the golden couple breaking apart. It’s big news for a solid week, before the student body finally manages to move onto the next drama and leave them be.

“So who’s the lucky guy or gal that stole your heart?” Joy asks as they tie up their laces. Despite breaking up, they’d both agreed to continue their tradition of Friday night rollerblading, so here they are at the rink, same as always.

Except not.

Jeongguk splutters, face going red. “What makes you think it’s a guy?”

Joy grins. “So it is a guy. I always knew it.”

Jeongguk swallows hard. “You aren’t... you aren’t freaked out by that?”

Joy shrugs. “This town may be obsessed with following what societies of the past proclaim to be right, but that doesn’t mean we have to stand by that. Don’t be afraid to be who you are, Jeongguk. There’s more out there beyond us, and the future is ours for the taking. Now come on,” Joy huffs as she stands up, brushing off her skirt, “lets skate.”

When Jeongguk pulls into the drive-in theater that night, parking amongst the rows that are already there, Taehyung lets out an excited gasp.

“I’ve always wanted to go to the drive-in.” He admits, smiling wide. “Thank you Gguk.” His voice drops low then, conspiratory. “Though, isn’t this where people go for dates? It’s called the passion pit for a reason.”

Jeongguk raises an eyebrow. “I did ask to take you out, didn’t I?”

“Oh. Oh!” And there’s a bright pink flush on Taehyung’s cheeks, a silly grin across his face.

“You’re a regular James Dean, Gguk.” Taehyung laughs.

“How so? Last I checked I was the furthest thing from a rebel.”

Something flashes in Taehyung’s eyes, and he leans in close.

“Then what do ya call this, Gguk?” Jeongguk swallows hard; Taehyung laughs and pulls back. “You don’t give yourself enough credit, Jeon. Maybe you put on the front of the perfect, socially acceptable star of the school, but I’ve seen past that. You’re a rebel without a cause just waiting to break free.”

Jeongguk brushes back a piece of Taheyung’s hair that had fallen free from the rest and leaves his hand to gently caress Taehyung’s cheek.

“Who says I don’t have a cause?”

The movie plays on in the background as Jeongguk leans over the armrest, twisting his body to face Taehyung's better.

“You look beautiful tonight, you know that?” He whispers, a hand coming up to caress Taehyung’s cheek. “You always do, honest, but you’ve really outdone yourself.”

He really has. He’s got on a pale pink blouse and a soft blue skirt matched with a pair of kitten heels, hair done up in a soft swoop that just brushes his forehead. Jeongguk thinks he sees the faintest hint of black around Taehyung’s eyes, widening them ever so slightly. He looks like a model, or a movie star. Prettier than the ones currently on screen.

“Jeongguk...” Taehyung trails off, biting at his lip.

“Yes?”

Taehyung takes a deep breath, one that he holds as he stares into Jeongguk’s eyes. The both of them are breathing shallowly and holding ever so still, afraid to break the moment. “Can I kiss you?”

A nervous smile blooms across Jeongguk’s face and he nods. Taehyung leans in, covering the little distance that had been left between them, and presses his lips to Jeongguk’s. It’s little more than a peck, but when he draws away Jeongguk stares at him in awe.

“I’ve wanted to do that since the first day we met.” Jeongguk confesses.

“At the roller rink?”

“No, when I crashed into you in the hall and made you drop your books.”

“That was you!” And Taehyung’s laughing, a deep, throaty sound that resonates in his chest and makes Jeongguk feel warm all over. “Gosh, you’re so adorable. Kiss me again.”

So they do.

“So when are you going to introduce me to this mystery guy?” Joy blows a bright pink bubble, popping it and chewing obnoxiously. The two are sat outside on the roof of Jeongguk’s car, parked out on the cliff Jeongguk visits so often. Joy and Taehyung are the only two who have ever been privy to knowing about this place, and he wonders what that means for him. For them.

Dating Taehyung is a strange experience, and not at the same time. Little has truly changed between them— they still go to Mindy’s every other night, still pass each other notes through their lockers, still dance around each other during the day and make up for it at night. Sometimes now though, Jeongguk finds himself fighting the urge to wrap his arm around Taehyung’s waist in the halls of the school, to drape his letterman jacket across Taehyung’s shoulders to declare to the entire student body yes, he’s mine. I’m his.

It comes with its perks though. Instead of sitting there, imagining what it’s like to hold Taehyung’s hand in his, to kiss him, to be able to let loose the feelings that have built up in him over the recent months, he can actually experience all those things. Underneath the bleachers, late at night at Mindy’s, in the darkness of Jeongguk’s car. They tell each other through soft touches and sweet smiles, and Jeongguk has never felt happier.

Jeongguk blushes, coughs to ignore the awkwardness creeping up in him.

“You uh, probably know him, actually.”

“Ooh, tell me.” Joy leans towards Jeongguk, eyes wide and hands clasped in excitement.

“It’s... Taehyung. Taehyung Kim.” Joy’s brow furrows.

“The boy who always wears skirts?”

Jeongguk nods, nervous, but it proves unnecessary to be as Joy breaks out into a brilliant grin.

“I can picture it already. You two must look adorable together.”

Jeongguk doesn’t know because no one has ever seen them together to tell them as much, but he hopes so. He imagines their love alone must count for something, that the way he feels when he looks at Taehyung shines bright and honest to those around him. It’s something he both wants and fears, and he tells Joy as much.

She hums, still chewing on her gum. She blows another bubble, letting it reach near the size of her face before it pops and she answers.

“If you love someone, you shouldn’t be afraid to show it. The only people’s opinions who matter are those who love you, and you already know I’ll stand by your side no matter what.”

Jeongguk lets the words sink in, rolls them through his mind gently. Joy is right, she always is, but it’s not as easy as she says. He’s spent his whole life living up to society’s expectations, being the perfect student, the perfect athlete, the perfect son. He’s not quite sure what to do now that he’s straying from that path so wildly.

“Don’t thinks so hard about it.” Joy places a hand over Jeongguk’s. “Just. Be happy, Jeongguk. You deserve it.”

Jeongguk hesitates halfway up the school steps, his hand starting to slip from Taehyung’s. He clenches his jaw, eyes tight, and just before they step inside, Taehyung slips his hand completely out of Jeongguk’s. When Jeongguk shoots him a confused look, Taehyung just sighs.

“I understand if you don’t want to hold my hand in school. It’s okay Jeongguk, really. You have a reputation to uphold in this town.”

With every word, Jeongguk feels worse and worse, and it is with renewed vigor that he takes Taehyung’s hand in his, squeezing tightly and shoving open the school doors.

“Jeongguk, what-“

“Hello, yes, this is my boyfriend, Taehyung Kim. He’s beautiful, don’t you think?” Jeongguk marches through the doors of the school, ignoring the gaping looks he receives from everyone as they enter, the football star hand in hand with the resident outcast.

Taehyung is blushing a furious red and tugging on Jeongguk’s hand. It feels like they’ve switched places- the ever so shy Jeongguk shouting his love to the world while the notoriously outgoing and unapologetic Taehyung quivers under the eyes of the high school crowd. Someone shouts an insult, but Jeongguk continues on as if he’s heard nothing.

“He’s truly astonishing right? I’m so lucky to have him, thank you.” And he barrels his way through the crowded hallway, Taehyung’s hand firmly clasped in his, all the way to the empty chemistry classroom.

Where he promptly shuts the door and drops to the floor, hyperventilating. Taehyung drops down to his knees beside him, worrying his bottom lip.

“Jeongguk? Baby, are you okay?”

“That was the single most terrifying thing I’ve ever done in my life, oh lord.”

“Then why did you do that, you ridiculous buffoon?”

Jeongguk smiles shakily. “Because the world deserves to know how much I love you.”

Taehyung can’t hold back at that, and that’s how they find themselves kissing on the floor of the chemistry lab up until the bell rings for class to begin.

“Oh my god, Jeongguk Jeon, what are you doing?” Taehyung is laughing loudly, face pink and hands clasped over his mouth.

Jeongguk shuffle-dances over to Taehyung, takes a hand gently and pulls him upright so they’re standing chest to chest.

“Dancing.”

And he spins away from Taehyung, hips shaking left and right.

Oh, well my hand is shaky

and my knees are weak

I can’t seem to stand on my own two feet

Who do you thank when you have such luck?
I'm in love

Jeongguk strikes a pose, hips jutted out and eyes on Taehyung, smoldering. He mouths the next

line, sliding up into Taehyung’s personal space.

I’m all shook up

He spins Taehyung in a circle, pulling him into his chest.

“ I’m in love.” He whispers in Taehyung’s ear, before spinning away.

The school dance takes place in the gym the way it does every year, streamers and balloons hung up across the walls and ceiling. A big, hand painted banner announcing the 1957 Montgomery High School Prom stretches across the back wall, and a photo booth is set up along the east side with a line of couples waiting their turn already.

Jeongguk is clad in a simple suit, flowers tucked into the breast pocket and hair swept back elegantly, and Taehyung...

Taehyung looks like a god. His soft brown hair was set in large rollers earlier that day and holds up and back from his face, revealing soft eye makeup and pearls dangling from his ears and neck, and his dress is a soft blue chiffon piece that holds tight to his bodice and floats delicately around his legs. He’s got heels on, black and shiny and just high enough that he’s officially taller than Jeongguk in them, enough that Jeongguk has to tilt his head upward to kiss Taehyung’s cheek.

“You look stunning.” Jeongguk whispers into Taehyung’s ear, wrapping an arm around Taehyung’s waist.

“I know.” Taehyung whispers back, but his cheeks are just the slightest pink from the compliment. He tugs Jeongguk onto the dance floor, smiling wide. “Now come on and show me your moves.”

The two dance in the middle of the crowd without a care, spinning around each other, laughing, singing along. A few glares and odd looks catch his eye here or there, but he pays them no mind, choosing to focus on the way the skirt of Taehyung’s dress twirls around his legs and his eyes light up the sky.

“Ya know, I’ve never been to a school dance before.” Taehyung breathes out, crashing into Jeongguk and dragging them over to a table to catch a breath.

Jeongguk is surprised at that. “You haven’t? But they seem like just your thing.”

Taehyung smiles wryly. “Guess I just never had someone who gave me the strength to.”

And oh. Oh, Jeongguk’s heart isn’t fluttering, it’s not. “Do I do that?”

Taehyung grins and leans into Jeongguk’s side, resting his head on his shoulder. “Everyday, James Dean, everyday.”

Taehyung goes with Jeongguk to Friday Night Skate now. Sometimes they see Joy there, laughing with all friends, and say hi. Joy had taken an instant liking to Taehyung, had gushed about being jealous of his impeccable style and fearlessness in being himself. Taehyung has blushed, uncharacteristically shy, and thanked her softly. But mostly, they stick to themselves, skating ‘round the rink hand in hand.

It had taken months, but none of that time matters, because Jeongguk is living in the now, and the now is Taehyung in his arms, laughing loudly as they skate circles around the other couples, bopping and singing along to the music that plays from the jukebox in the far corner. The now is taking Taehyung out on dates where anyone can see, unabashed and unashamed. The now is getting caught in the rain 20 minutes past curfew and kissing as drops soak through their clothes and skin. The now is Taehyung, Taehyung, Taehyung, and Jeongguk has never been happier in his life.

They’ve added something to the Friday Night Skate tradition, which is how they find themselves at Mindy’s as the sun is going down, legs sore from skating for hours.

When the waitress sets down a single strawberry malt in front of them, two straws poking out through the mountain of whipped cream, Taehyung snorts.

“You’re the cheesiest, you know that Jeongguk Jeon?”

Jeongguk just flashes Taehyung a smile and intertwines their hands. “You wouldn’t have me any other way, Taehyung Kim.”

Taehyung leans across the table and presses a light kiss to Jeongguk’s cheek.

“You’re right. I wouldn’t.”
