Summary:

Ray breaks down after the death of Gregory Edgeworth.

Work Text:

Raymond has always hated hospitals, but never more than he does right now. Because standing in this hospital means acknowledging that something awful has happened… that someone has died.

He just saw a dead body. Not a crime scene photo or a string outline of where a corpse one lay, but a real dead body. And as he stands outside the morgue, Raymond wonders if he might be sick.

Because… because…

He had to identify Mr Edgeworth’s body.

His boss is dead. He just saw him, dead in the morgue with a bullet hole in his chest. Because someone murdered him. at the courthouse.

Ray barely remembers what happened. He was in the gallery and took the stairs, and was already on the groundfloor when the earthquake started. But Mr Edgeworth… he was trapped in an elevator for hours with his son and a bailiff. And when the door finally opened…

Mr Edgeworth was dead. Murdered. A bullet through his chest.

They arrested the bailiff and rushed young Miles to hospital (thankfully he’s not hurt, but he’s totally traumatised), but Gregory was pronounced dead at the scene.

And that was when Raymond was called to identify the body.

Oh God.

His boss is dead.

Raymond’s hands go up to the sides of his head, the image of his dead boss flashing in front of his eyes. He’s going to be sick. He’s going to be sick.

He dashes through the crowded hallways, finally finding a bathroom. Ray dashes inside and shuts himself in a stall. He falls to the ground and hacks up vomit into the toilet.

Mr Edgeworth, his boss, the man he loved so much, is dead. And as he is sick, tears spill down Raymond’s face. Tears of loss, tears of anger and tears of total agony.
