Chapter Text
Izuku had forgotten exactly how loud their get-togethers were. He’s sure they are usually less noisy. Actually Izuku isn’t too sure about that. See, he is slightly tipsy. Just a little. That’s not a problem though, since the get-together is at their place today.
Izuku looks over to Katsuki, who is in a heated argument with Ochaco over their last shared mission. Katsuki has been going hard on the liquid and Ochaco hasn’t held back either. At least Iida is the designated driver for the day.
“What are you spacing out for, Midoriya?”
Izuku turns to Mina and gives a small smile. “I’m keeping an eye on these two. They don’t have the best track record with alcohol.” To prove his point, he gestures towards Katsuki who is trying to fetch his glass out of the air.
A few seconds later Ochaco is cackling evilly and brings the glass down into her hands. “What, too drunk to get your drink?” And to underline her victory, she downs Katsuki’s glass in one go.
“I keep telling everyone you are an evil witch, but no one believes me!” Now there are small explosions going off in Katsuki’s hands and Izuku makes to stand up, but Mina holds his arm.
“It’s all right. Everyone is keeping a close eye on them.” She nods her head towards Kirishima and Iida who slowly inch closer to the drunk pair. Toru is cheering for a fight while Shouto tells them to settle down and be quiet. Momo is half asleep, head on his shoulder.
“So, how is living with Katsuki going? I keep asking him, but he’s strangely reserved when it comes to you. Even more so then before you two decided to share the rent by living together.”
Ah, and isn’t that an interesting subject. Izuku doesn’t know what to say either. If he tells her, he will probably end up giving too much away, since their relationship is still a secret to everyone.
Izuku glances towards Katsuki who’s trying to climb over Sero and Kaminari, to get to Ochaco. “Nothing unusual.” He shrugs. He’s a bad liar and he really hates lying to his friends.
It’s not that they don’t want to tell their friends. It’s just, when they started going out, they wanted to keep it a secret so that they could see where their relationship is going first. And since, they didn’t really have an opportunity to tell them.
Izuku reaches for his glass and takes a sip.
“So, you, too? Then it’s not just Katsuki. Something is going on here but you both don’t want to share.”
Mina has always been strangely perspective, Izuku thinks. She’s a great hero and her understanding of people is uncanny. “I’ll let it go for now,” she says and smiles at him.
Suddenly Izuku feels bad. Mina is like a younger sister to Katsuki. But her understanding smile makes him think she already knows and wants to give them the time to come to her. He finishes his drink just in time to see Katsuki walk past him. “Where are you going?” he asks.
Katsuki glares at him, hand in his pockets as he walks out of the living room. “Taking a piss. Don’t follow me, Deku.”
Mina pulls a face and calls, “Gross!”
Katsuki sticks his tongue out. Well, that one is drunk for sure.
“He’s a horrible drunk. How do you deal with him?”
That’s something Izuku can talk about. “Usually he just screams a lot and tells me exactly what I can do with my stupid face, and then he falls into bed face-first. Come to think of it, that might be because I treat him like a child when he’s drunk, though,” Izuku muses.
“He and Monoma are in a league of their own, when drunk,” Mina adds and then takes a drink of her own.
Just then Katsuki comes back in, face flushed and obviously past his limit for the night. Izuku smiles at him. Ever since they acknowledged this thing between them, he’s hardly been able to take his eyes off Katsuki, especially when he looks this ruffled.
“What you looking at, Nerd?”
“Maybe you should go to bed, Kacchan.”
“Shut up! No one asked you!” Katsuki looks at Mina and then back at Izuku. “Why is she giving me creepy smiles?”
Mina immediately rises to the occasion. No better time to tease Katsuki than when he’s drunk. “Deku here has been giving me dirt on you.”
“Don’t call him that,” Katsuki snarls and walks towards them. He plops down right between them. “Deku wouldn’t snitch me out. This idiot loves me too much for that.”
Mina eyes Izuku and raises a brow. “Does he now?”
Izuku shakes his head at her but Katsuki keeps talking. “Of course,” he says and stretches out on the ground, pushing Mina away. He plops his head into Izuku’s lap and hugs Izuku’s torso. “You got no chance, Pinky. Just back off.”
Izuku buries his face in his hands as Katsuki buries his face in the fabric covering Izuku’s belly. Mina laughs at the statement. So much for being subtle.
“Well...,” he hears Mina say once she has calmed down, but he’s not ready to face her. He just keeps shaking his head no. This is not how he planned to come out to his friends.
Katsuki, disturbed by his shaking, squeezes him tighter. “Stop moving!” He must have looked up because then he asks, “what are you hiding your face for, Deku?”
“And he won’t even remember this in the morning,” Izuku mumbles into his hands. Mina laughs again and now Izuku can hear the distinct silence in the room. He’s too nervous to look up. “Stupid Kacchan.”
Katsuki pulls on his hands, moving them away from Izuku’s face. “The hell are you mumbling in your hands for? Say it to my face, Deku!”
Izuku pulls his hands out of Katsuki’s grip and glares. “This is why I tell you to go to bed when you drink too much! You always do stuff you forget!”
Katsuki’s reaction to Izuku’s outburst is to smile. Izuku freezes. This is not good.
“That’s it. Just keep looking at me, Izuku.” He leans up to give Izuku a kiss. It’s nothing special, just another kiss like the many they have shared before. But Izuku feels the heat in his face intensify. “Wake me for breakfast,” Katsuki says and lays back down in Izuku’s lap.
Then he’s out like a light.
Izuku looks at everyone and keeps shaking his head. If he shakes his head no hard enough, he might be able to deny the happenings. “Nothing to see here,” he says resolutely.
Mina gives him a soft smile while the rest are still too shocked to really react. “Don’t worry, Izuku. I’ll make him regret leaving you alone to explain all this.” She pats his shoulder.
As if that’s signal enough, everyone is suddenly on him, asking all kinds of questions and poking the sleeping Katsuki. Izuku, hands in Katsuki’s hair to draw strength, smiles and answers what he feels comfortable answering.
At one point he might have pulled a bit too hard and gotten a growl in reply, but Katsuki deserved it, so...
