Work Text:

“When are we gonna get married?”

Your hand pauses half-way towards your mouth, a piece of pizza grasped between your fingers. You fix your eyes on the man reclining in his seat next to you, a laptop resting in his lap. Yoongi -- in his baggy shirt and basketball shorts, his raven hair laying unkempt on his forehead -- looks absolutely too nonchalant. You don't know why you're surprised.

“Is now really a good time to bring this up?” You set your pizza down on the coffee table before you, dusting off your hands before pulling your legs up onto the couch.

“What's wrong with discussing marriage while we're snuggling on the couch eating pizza, having a casual night in?” He shrugs, shifting to face you as well.

Incredulity fills your gaze. “We're sitting on the couch . . . eating pizza. What about this situation sparks wedding bells in your head?”

“You sitting there looking adorable in sweatpants and a t-shirt with your hair all messed up, gorging on junk food.”

“I hate you.”

“You love me.”

“I do.”

“And you want to marry me.”

“Of course.”

“So?”

You sigh, drumming my fingers against your thigh. “Okay. Let's get married.”

His eyebrows raise, and before you can process any movement, he has you tackled into a bear hug. “You mean that?” Yoongi whispers into the crown of your head. He sounds about on the verge of tears, the type of happy that manifests in tears and his uncontrollable smiles. If your face weren't smashed into his chest, you know you would see his eyes glazed and his face red and his lips curved into a ridiculous, blinding smile. The image brings tears and smiles of your own that you bury into the material of his shirt.

“Of course I mean it, you idiot.”

He chuckles a breathy chuckle. “You kept me waiting long enough.”

You pull away from his embrace, keeping your hands on his sides. He is currently the brightest object in an a million mile radius, all grinning and rounded cheeks. There is, in fact, a stray tear trailing down his cheek. You bring your hand up to cup his cheek, wiping it away with a thumb. “I'm sorry. You know me, I'm indecisive and stupid and have a problem with change, but I mean it. Let's do it.”

A sigh escapes his lips, his expression turning soft and fond and heart-squeezing. “You don't need to apologize, okay? I would've waited until the sun stopped shining to marry you. Hell, even if we never got married, I would love you beyond then. You're the greatest. I want to keep eating pizza with you and watching you work in your sweatpants and being in your company. For as long as I can.”

His eyes are full of a sincerity you feel unworthy of, the weight of utter shock hitting you at the prospect that someone so amazing could love you as much as he does.

You're the one crying now, tears streaking down your cheeks in a constant flow. You lean forward, wrapping your arms around his torso once again. “Are you sure you're ready for a lifetime of dealing with me?”

He laughs, the sound reverberating through his chest. It is the most precious sound in all of human recollection. “You bet. You?"

"Definitely."
