Chapter Text
“Hideyoshi Toyotomi, I swear I’m going to murder you once I get my hands on you.”
Hell hath no wrath like a woman scorned, or in this case like a woman who hasn’t seen her boyfriend properly for almost a month and a half. Your movements are precise and scarily determined as you walk down the busy street towards the Oda Corporation. You are a woman on a mission and nothing will stand in your way.
Let’s get some clarification for why you’re about to launch a one woman army on your boyfriend’s work place.
You’re a relatively well-renowned fashion designer, your company and personal brand having picked up enough traction to start releasing in overseas markets. As such, you had to travel as the spokesperson for the company for the official release and were gone for a month. Your boyfriend Hideyoshi was understandably nervous about you traveling without him, but you reassured him that you’d be fine and that he can’t afford to take time off of his own work to come with you and that you’ll be home before he knows it.
However, you weren’t expecting to come home to Hideyoshi being practically buried in his work 24/7, leaving him completely exhausted when he came home and that was when we wasn’t staying late at the company so you couldn’t be awake for him to come home. It was so bad that he couldn’t even come collect you from the airport when you came home, having to ask Mitsunari instead.
It’s been a solid 2 weeks of him being too busy or too tired to spend time with you, and the text he sent you not an hour earlier regarding your plans to go out for dinner tonight was the last straw.
[Sorry ___. We’ll have to rain check our date tonight, I have some really important documents that Nobunaga has entrusted me with. I promise I’ll make it up to you. Oh, also, I’ll probably be home late again tonight. Don’t wait up for me.]
(That asshole. I know he’s the CEO and everything, but this is just getting ridiculous. I saw him more over video chat when I was abroad than I have since coming home!)
The revolving door spins you from the busy Kyoto streets into the lavish Oda Corporation offices, the arguably largest company in Japan. Your heels click across the pristine marble floor as you make a beeline straight for the reception desk. Most of the staff here are familiar with you due to your relationship with the company’s CEO as well as your unusual friendship with the boss. Because of this, you’re given relative free reign of the company having no need for appointments. The receptionist looks up from her papers, registers the intense look on your face and immediately nods before handing you a visitor’s pass. You swiftly take it, turning on her heels and heading for the elevator.
You all but stomp into the elevator and hit the button for the highest floor with much more force than necessary. The modern infrastructure responds immediately, closing its doors with you inside as it ascends smoothly towards the penthouse offices. As the elevator makes its way up the building, you stand directly in front of the doors impatiently, foot tapping and arms crossed tightly over your chest. You’re wearing a black blouse with the sleeves rolled up neatly just above your elbows, the tie at the front tied into a loose yet perfect bow. Your blouse is tucked into your beige business pants, not too shapely to draw unwanted attention but fitted enough to accentuate your slim legs, with a simple black belt looped around to hold the waist in place. Tucking a couple of rogue strands of your hair that flew loose from your impassioned march here behind your ear, you quickly readjust your loose yet secure braid, a casual addition to your otherwise formal business wear.
The elevator finally signals its arrival to its floor with a soft ding! and you exit and turn directly towards the main offices, not even needing to think about where to go. The employees cast you dubious looks as you walk briskly, the air around you electric with determination.
You’re a woman on a mission and with one goal in mind.
The man you’ve barely seen at all for the last almost two months appears in your line of sight, your eyes narrowing and lips thinning when you see him. He’s holding a large stack of documents and doesn’t notice you at all as he multitasks reading the reports while walking back to his office. He looks up briefly, sees you then immediately does a double take when he registers that you’re here. His eyes widen as you approach him, your pace quickening.
“___! W-What are you--?”
You hold up your hand, a clear gesture for him to stop talking as you walk straight past him. You turn your head as you walk past so he can clearly hear the words you utter through almost clenched teeth.
“I’ll deal with you in a minute. I’ve got business with your boss first.”
You don’t even wait for a response as you keep walking, leaving Hideyoshi stunned and unable to move as he stares after you completely lost for words.
You reach the boss’ office and knock twice on the door before opening it, not bothering to wait for a response. The head of the Oda Corporation, Nobunaga Oda, is sitting at his desk and his eyes look up from his papers to meet yours. His eyebrow quirks up seeing that it’s you interrupting his work but doesn’t seem angry at all.
“___. It’s been a while. How can I help you?”
Folding your arms across your chest, your demeanour very much demands respect as you glare heatedly at your boyfriend’s boss. “I’m taking Hideyoshi out of the office for an extended lunch. I don’t care how busy you guys are, I haven’t seen him properly for almost two months. I’ll organise my company to gift you a new tailored suit as payment.”
Nobunaga can’t keep the huge grin off his face as he chuckles deeply, his eyes narrowing at you. “I have no qualms with this. He’s more than earned an extra break so do what you wish.”
You simply nod in response and turn back to exit the room as quickly as you came, Nobunaga’s laughter following you out into the hallway.
You march back to Hideyoshi, who has since moved to place the papers he was holding on his desk. When he sees you and attempts to ask again why you’re here, you grab his arm and pull him surprisingly forcefully for a woman of your stature, heading straight for the exit.
“Wait! ___, stop! I still need to work!”
“Not on my watch. You don’t get to cancel dinner plans on me last minute so we’re having a lunch date instead.”
“But Nobunaga—”
“Already gave his permission. He says you’ve earned an extra break, so stop working so much and let me do this. It’s been too long since we’ve done something that didn’t involve asking about each other’s work, so we’re going.”
He hesitates, unsure how to respond, then sighs and complies with your wishes seeing how pointless it is to argue you when you’re this fired up. You don’t let go of his arm as you keep pulling him towards the elevator, ignoring the surprised looks of the onlookers surrounding you.
Pressing the button to call the elevator back, you turn to get a good look at Hideyoshi. He’s wearing a white collared long-sleeved shirt and a black tie with a buttoned up black waistcoat, perfectly tailored to emphasise his broad chest. His well fitted grey trousers and black dress shoes complete his suave, sexy business attire and you can’t help but let your eyes wander over his body, both in appreciation of his fashion sense and because…well damn, he looks good.
The elevator doors open and you step inside, Hideyoshi following closely behind. You press the button to close the doors but make no move to press the button for the ground floor. As the automated doors shut with a subtle hiss, you lift your gaze to your boyfriend, placing your hands on your hips. His lips curl into a frown seeing your displeased expression.
“I’m sorry that I’ve been so busy with work lately, but I really don’t think it called for you coming in and kidnapping me. Don’t get me wrong, I love seeing you but I need to do my job to help the company.”
Your lips purse in slight agitation. “You help the company so much already. Surely you can offload some of your work to some of the other employees just so you actually get a chance to breathe. I’d like you to be able to come home without you immediately passing out from exhaustion. You really worry me sometimes.”
You hold his gaze, his amber hues shifting slightly. Finally, he sighs as he steps forward to pull you into his arms. He wraps his arms around your waist, pulling you closer in his embrace.
“I didn’t mean to worry you. I just took on as much extra work as I could while you were gone to fill the void of you not being there when I got home, and just kept at it even after you came home.”
You rest your head against his chest, nestling into it as your hands reach up to wrap around his neck. The familiar smell of his cologne fills your nostrils, calming your not-actually-angry anger. “Yeah, I had a feeling that was the reason. You’ve always been a workaholic.”
A gentle chuckle, the vibrations of it rumbling against your head as it emerges. “You’re right, I am. I need to remember to dedicate more of my time to the wonderful woman in my life though. I’ll talk to Nobunaga after this break about reducing my workload. Sound good?”
You lift your head to meet his loving gaze, smiling brightly with him. “That sounds perfect.”
He leans down to rest his forehead against yours, your noses almost touching as you stare into each other’s eyes, enjoying the rare moment of blissful calm around you both.
Hideyoshi’s fingertips graze lazily along your waist, massaging your hips with gentle yet stimulating force. Your cheeks flush pink and you respond by easing your hands away from his neck to trail slowly down to his chest, grabbing at his waistcoat’s collar to pull him even closer.
You surprise yourself with how forward you’re being in wanting his touch. In your defense, it has been a while since you two had a calm moment of intimacy so it seems natural for your body to gravitate to his, craving his touch and his warmth.
Hideyoshi seems to be thinking the same thing as his hands circle your hips more forcefully, one hand moving down to graze his fingertips teasingly over your thigh. A strained, barely audible moan catches in your throat and Hideyoshi’s eyes darken, transitioning from cool amber to molten gold.
“It really has been a long time since I’ve held you. I forget how easily you do me in sometimes.” He breathes out the words hotly against your ear, wracking your body with shivers of anticipation.
“It’s the same for me. It’s been so long since I’ve touched you like this that I almost can’t hold back.”
His breathing catches slightly at your words, a sultry, almost defeated sigh escaping his lips. He removes his hand from your thigh and reaches up to gently cradle your face. You nuzzle into his palm, the movement almost second nature to you.
“Well, we do have a little bit of time. I can at least begin making it up to you for not giving my princess the attention and love that she deserves.”
He strokes his thumb lovingly over your burning cheek, reaching behind you with his other hand to press the button to take you both to the ground floor. When the elevator starts moving, so you do.
You’re suddenly pushed against the wall, one hand grasping your shoulder while the other still holds your face as Hideyoshi’s lips find yours. The kisses are heated and passionate, your lips parting and reuniting quickly, breathlessly, as if your life depends on the sweet taste of his lips on yours. Hideyoshi’s hand on your shoulder slinks down your body, finding your waist and wrapping around it tightly, pulling you flush against him whilst simultaneously pushing you against the cold metal wall. His leg slips between your thighs, your back arching in response and your hands grabbing tightly at his biceps through his shirt, the muscle still obvious even through the material.
His tongue slips into your mouth and you meet it with your own, twining them together in blessed and heated caresses. His hand on your cheek slides to your nape, tilting your head back as you moan into the kiss. You feel Hideyoshi’s arms tense under your hands and he releases your lips, albeit reluctantly. You’re gasping for breath, your cheeks beautifully flushed with desire as you stare at him.
Before you can ask him why he stopped, you feel the elevator slow its descent around you before stopping entirely, the sound of its arrival at your destination ringing out as Hideyoshi releases his hold on you. The doors open but you don’t move, instead holding your gaze on the man before you, hands still gripping his upper arms. His cheeks are slightly flushed, his eyes still holding a hint of heat and you’d like nothing more than to close the doors and continue what was abruptly cut short.
Hideyoshi smiles and takes your hand, linking his fingers through yours and squeezing. He leans forward to whisper in your ear, “We’ll finish this tonight. That’s a promise I have no intention of postponing.”
You smile and squeeze his hand back, turning your head to meet his lips with yours in a brief yet loving kiss. “I’ll hold you to that.”
With that, you walk out of the elevator hand in hand with Hideyoshi, making your way out to the streets to find a place to get some lunch and enjoy each other’s company in utter bliss.
