Chapter Text

This was only the beginning, the beginning of everything he was and the end of another and to say the least, beginning hurt.

It hurt a lot, as the cosmos twisted to become his fingers and his heart formed from ash but he was human as human could ever get in this part of the universe. Which in other words just meant he looked the part.

Humans, did they even exist this far from Earth? What about time and energy? Had humans even been conceived yet or had they been extinct for millennia already? How was he supposed to know here, alone.

Alone, that hurt the most. Even as the gasses that formed the light in his eyes scorched the skin and flesh of carbon he could not help but ponder at the ill existence of everything around him and for the first time in what seemed like forever he felt his first emotion, sorrow.

He didn’t even know what he was yet, he couldn’t comprehend what the light around him symbolized and yet his core midbrain functions had finally started setting into place. His brain was working as his emotional frontal lobe started kicking into action. The sadness that permeated the air around him seeped through his flesh and bones into his core. Not all of the emotions he was feeling right now were entirely his.

But he finally started to remember a wisp, blue eyes and blond hair, a man with sunken eyes and a mirthful smile, Toshinori. Where was he? Where had he gone? Did he leave me? The questions poured from his head and radiated with the surrounding matter around him bursting into colors of fear and abandonment. Had he been any stronger as a new form of matter he might have inadvertently created a black hole with the crushing despairing clenching in his gut.

The elements of his head started to fill more into place. His memory became clearer. Toshinori, he was not here anymore. He was him, he was no longer and now he was forever. His form had dissipated into ash and cosmic dust and in the center of gravity Izuku was now forming anew.

He remembered this now. He was Izuku Midoriya, son of Inko and Hisashi Midoriya and the ninth star birthing from the ashes of All Might. He was now Toshinori, All Might was now him and yet Izuku had now become his own person again after falling away from the confines of human mortality.

He still had yet to figure how long he’d been gone from his world. In the span of the Milky Way two seconds for him could’ve been two decades. He had to return to his world.

But why? He felt the pull, gravity casting his eyes in the night sky. He had to return, there he had something unfinished. The dust, gas and energy around him filled his head with fog as the last bits of his cerebellum drew into place. He hadn’t realized how much he had been spinning  out of hand before then.

He felt his brain spin and felt the sorrow dissipate into laughter. It bubbled through his chest and a plume of space dust of orange and greens released from his gut. He was still on fire from the process of creation but the freedom of space gave way to satisfaction. Even the aches could not tear his mind now while he had his consciousness again.

And his eyes were working now, two orbs of wonder gazing upon the vast wasteland of beauty. He gazed ahead of himself and stared until the light in his eyes finally caught the light of a cosmic cloud so distant and large that it must have been over twice the size of his original solar system. It twisted and turned and he found himself inadvertently copying the motions himself.

Twisting, kicking, he swept the plumes of space dust around him. It melded around his fingers like womb water, nurturing his new form into his image. What did he look like now?

Light, he was light. Green dustings of copper melting together with oxygen, bursting forth into myriads of more extensive compounds and sparks of orange red. His hair was now wisps of dust that looked so soft to the touch but were actually strands of energy and compounds, gritty and rough. He didn’t truly have a need for hair but he remembered that Toshinori has kept that aspect in his image from before. It was a part of his humanity that he decided to keep, besides nobody else would be touching his head other than him.

He reached his hand towards the mop of new hair and found it to be smooth as if it were freshly washed although he was sure it was due to the fact that the particles were small enough that his hands brushed over the inconsistencies.

How large had he become? He may have been a speck in the universe before but now he wasn’t the human he once was. He was something bigger, much bigger and much more volatile.

There was nothing around his plume of space dust to reference from so for now the question would remain unknown to him. There was a reason he was all alone out here and as he watched the cloud particles around his molten hands fuse with him he figured that it was probably for the best that he was far far away from any planet or star.

Even if he wasn’t able to even touch another form of matter without fusing with it he knew that Toshinori was able to revert into a more human form, more contained. As to how it was possible was unknown to him.

However he didn’t have to worry so much in the cosmos here far from Earth. He could bid his time and take a moment to rest his weary head and aching body but unfortunately for him rest would have to wait as the image of a boy came to mind before he could close his eyes.

“Deku.”

He gasped as nostalgia and the familiar twinge of missing something hit his heart hard. Cosmic dust flowed into his mouth and filled his lungs with fire, scorching his insides with life. He was more awake and aware now.

Who? A boy, dusty blond hair tinged with orange from the setting sun. Who is he? Someone he knew, someone who rallied ahead towards victory and valor. Someone he watched run ahead towards a valiant future.

Someone who he couldn’t follow then. He, the boy, was someone he took and held so dearly in his heart as an image of victory, Katsuki Bakugou.

“Kacchan?”

And his goal became clear.

The lasts of the cosmic cloud settled into place, smoothing the grindstone and carbon compounds that meshed into his new flesh molten and forever changing. He completed himself, swaying in the empty space languidly. He had a better feel for himself now and his sense of direction was now set. He could feel the pull of the voids from all around, gravity from the masses of distant solar systems were drawing him in. He would soon have to move if he wanted to make it back to Earth as he was still drifting far, far away from it.

He closed his eyes and took in the sensations and pulls of inertia and energy. Numbers and figures were of no real significance to him now but he felt the understanding of the forces in motion pour into his head like a torrent of salt water. Concepts he could never truly understand in fifty minutes with a science class tore open and every nook of understanding revealed itself to him like a blooming flower.

He waded through the sensations, pushing the gravities of distant suns and water planets away, he wasn’t looking for them. The strands, the forces felt like a soft form and he sifted through them until he seized it. Earth, his home.

“Kacchan.”

And he was off, homebound. A surge of light joy filled his gut.

He was going to make it, this was the beginning.
