Work Text:
Jungkook had met Taehyung the first time at a small jazz bar downtown.
It was a cheesy start of a romance, he had to admit.
He was on his last nerve that night. A client which had requested an illustration for their new upcoming business, has been his most fussy client yet.
The client had wanted the design to be picture perfect, even the slightest stray from his original ideals had lead him to request Jungkook to scrape the previous logo and advertisement design.
As if his day couldn't get any worse, it had started raining on his walk back home.
With a curse, he ran towards the nearest shade, the front of a classy bistro.
Jungkook grimaced at his drenched trench coat and dress shoes. His previously styled black hair now stuck to his skin as if he just came out from a shower.
The artist takes a few seconds to observe the heavy rain patter against the concrete ground before sighing.
He squinted as he took a look at the name of the bistro.
Serendipity.
It's odd how Jungkook had never stumbled upon this bistro before, considering how often he visits them to meet up with clients at night.
He took one last look at the rain, before stepping in. He wouldn't be able to reach the train station without walking another 15 minutes anyway. Plus, he's not keen on getting further soaked.
The small bell above the door rang softly, signalling his entry.
The interior was beautiful. Amber lights complimented the vintage aesthetics.
Little Black round tables were arranged around the bar which held bottles of booze and beverages.
It's dim interior and low chatter gave the bar class. Jungkook felt oddly out of place with his drenched attire.
“Hello. Welcome to Serendipity, may I help you to a seat. ” A shorter man came up to him with a smile. He was dressed in a neat vest, and had nicely parted silvery blonde hair.
“Ah, yes please.” The man ‘Jimin’, Jungkook noted from his name tag; led him to one of the small round tables.
He gently placed a menu right in front of him, showing the many drinks and dinner food they had available.
“I'll give you time to go through the menu.” He smiled once more before leaving Jungkook alone.
Jungkook however, was too distracted on something else to notice Jimin leaving.
On the small jazz stage in front of all the tables, he saw several men move up to stand by their respective instruments; the saxophones, the piano and trumpets.
What had caught his eye though, was the man standing in centre stage.
He had blonde hair which is softly curled to frame the side of his face.
A long silver earring hung from one side of his ear. The loose white button up he wore which was tucked into his brown slacks, showed off his slim frame.
When the music started to play, the blonde swayed his body slowly to the music whilst grasping onto the silver mic in front of him.
As if that didn't make Jungkook drool enough, he had started to sing.
“Hold me close and hold me fast, the magic spell you cast. This is La Vie En Rose”
The song was La Vie En Rose by Louis Armstrong, a familiar tune to Jungkook through his Spotify Jazz playlist.
However, the way Taehyung sang it had Jungkook mesmerised. He gaped at the singer, eyes transfixed on his beautiful eyes which were downcast as he swayed.
Then, their eyes met.
Jungkook flinched and looked away shyly, embarrassed that he was caught staring like some kind of twelve year old schoolboy sporting a crush.
The other just smiled, amused by his reaction.
“That is Kim Taehyung, our best singer.” A voice suddenly said, making Jungkook jump in his seat.
Jimin smiled down at him mischievously.
“Ready to take your order?” His grin grew wider as Jungkook called for a bourbon almost immediately after the question was asked.
***
The third song had ended, leaving Jungkook disappointed by the loss of the smooth deep voice of Kim Taehyung.
The rain had stopped two songs ago, leaving Jungkook no more reason to stay any longer, that was until he saw the jazz singer approach his table.
He was frozen, Jungkook was not prepared to face Kim Taehyung yet. Even with the alcohol buzzing in his system, he is still having an internal crisis.
The blonde sat opposite from him with a small kind smile, which lead to Jungkook being tongue tied.
“Um, I saw your performance just now. It was good- no I mean it was great. One of the best jazz bar performance I had heard- I mean not in a creepy way.” Jungkook mentally slaps himself.
This is why, he should just keep his mouth shut in front of attractive people.
A giggle snapped him out of his embarrassment.
Taehyung gave him a wide boxy smile, small giggles still escaping from his mouth.
“Thank you, that's very sweet. I noticed how you were staring. Also, Jimin which is the co-owner by the way, had kinda pushed me to talk to you.” He laughed softly.
Jungkook knew that man was up to something. Even though he had never talked to Jimin before, he could tell that he is petty as hell.
“Oh. Well, I stumbled in here by coincidence. It was raining and the train station is too far away.”
Taehyung hummed softly. He was starting to feel more comfortable around the blonde by how soothing Taehyung's presence actually felt. He felt how the tension that was originally on his shoulders are starting to slip away.
“Can we see each other again?” Taehyung suddenly blurted out.
The artist was surprised by the other's sudden request. But the small smile on Taehyung’s lips told him that he was serious.
With a gulp he answered, lips pressed together and trying to hide a small smile.
“Yes. Yes, of course.”

Once Taehyung entered the private staff bathroom, Jimin barged in. A grin plastered on his face.
“So, how was the talk with the pretty boy?” Jimin wiggled his eyebrows at the mirror which displayed both of their reflections.
The singer smiled as he rolled his eyes, hands moving up to remove the earring.
“It was nice. He was kind of surprised when I went over to his table.”
Jimin hummed, staring into the mirror whilst basking in the few seconds of silence when Taehyung bends down to remove his contact lenses.
“Don't forget to thank me when you're riding his dick.”
Taehyung groaned and screwed the lid of his contact lense casing shut.
He adjusted his glasses so it sat properly on the bridge of his nose.
“I don't know what else I had expected you to say.” He sighed.
Jimin giggled before standing straight up from the sinks.
“Yoongi says we'll close early tonight. All the customers had already left, and it looks like it's going to rain again. Go pack your stuff we'll close up.” He patted his shoulder softly before walking out of the bathroom.
Taehyung followed soon after grabbing his bag from the locker and slinging it across his frame.
He walked out to find Yoongi stacking the chairs on top of the rounded black tables. The sleeves of his black button up shirt were rolled up to his elbows, showing off the fine tattoos on his arms.
Jimin switched off the amber lights before moving over to the bar to grab his keys.
“Ready to go?” Jimin asked, gently placing the car keys into Yoongi's palms.
Yoongi smiled softly in response, gently running his palm down the back of Jimin’s neck.
“Let's go Taehyung, or we'll lock you in here.” Yoongi yelled out with a smirk.
“Yeah okay.” Taehyung yelled back before sliding his phone into his back.
Jungkook’s name in his contacts still clear in his mind.

The next time Jungkook and Taehyung saw each other was at a music shop, in the vinyl section.
Taehyung is supposed to pick up a new one for the bistro, specifically the ones by Benny Goodman.
Jungkook saw him first, skimming through rows of vinyl records whilst bobbing his head lightly to the music played through his earphones.
He froze at the isle leading to the other man, not knowing whether or not he should go up to him.
After seconds of debating with his inner courage at the dusty isle of old second hand dvds, he decided to walk up to the blonde.
“Taehyung?” Jungkook called out softly as he stood next to him.
Taehyung, which was previously engrossed in the contents on the shelves jumped when Jungkook tapped on his shoulder.
He looked up quickly to meet Jungkook’s eyes.
The blonde moved his hand up to remove one side of the earbud, smiling slowly.
“Oh, Jungkook. Fancy seeing you here.” He said in a jokingly manner.
Jungkook laughed lightly, no longer feeling nervous with such a lighthearted response.
“You really are an old soul aren't you?” He said as he referred to the selection of vinyls of classical artists in his basket.
There is also the way Taehyung dresses. He indeed dresses vintage, considering the 60s style cream cardigan he wore over his tucked in carnation pink shirt; plus the ribbon he wore around his neck which is the same shade as his shirt.
Jungkook admires how Taehyung’s sense of fashion made him appear classy yet gentle at the same time.
Meanwhile, the artist is wearing his fifth identical black T shirt.
“Yeah you can say that. Got it from my grandma. The only music she plays on her speakers and record players are jazz music, guess that stuck to me.” He chuckled.
Jungkook noticed how Taehyung gaze lowered, no longer meeting the brunettes eyes whilst chewing on his lower lip.
“Do you still see her?” He asked, trying to keep the conversation flowing.
Taehyung looked up at Jungkook and gaped. His expression stayed like this for a few seconds before shaking his head to the ground.
“No. She passed away two years ago. That's why I live alone now.”
Jungkook immediately regretted asking. Taehyung still had a small smile on his face, but it does not quite reach his eyes.
It made Jungkook’s heart ache.
“I'm sorry. I shouldn't have asked.” He apologised, lowering his head slightly.
Taehyung shook his head quickly.
“It's okay. I had Yoongi and Jimin with me when things were particularly rough.”
Jungkook nodded, not wanting to pry on what he meant by ‘particularly rough’, at least not now.
Then Jungkook is reminded of what he had originally wanted to ask Taehyung. He took a deep breath, trying to gather his courage before opening his mouth.
“Can I draw you someday?”
Taehyung stared at him dumbly.
“What?” He laughed as he asked, but Jungkook looked dead serious.
“I want to draw you, you're gorgeous.”
Taehyung was taken aback by his sudden compliment. He flushed deeply.
Jungkook feel a bit proud of himself for making the blonde this flustered.
“I mean, yeah. Of course. You could've texted me about it you know?” He laughed, a boxy smile blooming upon his face.
The brunette shook his head.
“Just thought about it just now. When are you free? Maybe I could go over to your place?” Jungkook suggests.
Taehyung’s head snapped up immediately, eyes wide with panic. It throws Jungkook off guard for a few seconds.
“No! Not my place, please. I'm sorry.” He mumbled, looking down, bubbly demeanor disappearing.
Jungkook shook his head, brows furrowed in confusion.
“No worries. Why are you afraid of me going over?” Confusion laced his voice, making Taehyung feel guilty about his sudden outburst.
A few people were also looking in their direction as a result.
The singer gulped.
“It's just. I want to keep my place private to myself only.”
Taehyung’s home was his private sanctuary, his place of security. The only person which had been in there was his grandmother, not even Jimin had stepped his foot through the door step.
He doesn't want the fragile balance of the peace and self security in his home to be broken so easily.
Jimin and Yoongi just simply drops him off on the way home from work.
He is prepared for Jungkook to give an awkward response, making it obvious that he thinks he's weird as hell.
“I understand. How about my place?” He smiled softly.
Taehyung looked at him with wide eyes. Jungkook held back the urge to just boop his nose.
This was the first time Taehyung found out how truly beautiful Jungkook is inside.
***
The doorbell rang as Jungkook finished boiling the water.
With fast steps, he walked over to the front door of his home.
Taehyung stood there with a smile. He wore a fluffy white sweater with cuffed jeans. From his ears dangled pearls which complimented his sun kissed skin.
“Come on in.” He spoke gently, still admiring the blonde.
Taehyung looked around Jungkook’s home. It was big and cozy with the red brick design. The furniture were in shades of brown and cream. The connected kitchen and dining room lead to a lowered partition where the living area was at.
He was too busy admiring Jungkook’s house, that he didn't realise a giant Alaskan Malamute running into the house from the open compound through the living room.
She stood up on her hind legs pawing at Taehyung’s arms as he giggled.
“Oh my, you're gorgeous. What's it's name?” Taehyung asked Jungkook whilst kneeling down to scratch the behind of the dog's ears.
Jungkook chuckled walking to the counter close by to grab two cups.
“Her name is Freya.”
Taehyung raised his brow up at the other.
“You know norse mythology don't you.” A smile played on his lips.
Jungkook just shrugged with a smirk, mixing both of their beverage with some fresh milk.
He walked over to Taehyung, to which he offered the cup.
Taehyung took it in both of his palms.
“Thank you, what is this?” Taehyung asked, looking at the pinkish white liquid in his mug.
Jungkook guided him to the living room, allowing him to sit down.
“It's just warm rose milk.”
Taehyung grinned, taking a sip from the slightly sweet yet rosy milk.
“Thanks, I love Rose syrup or honey with my milk.”
Jungkook smiled at that, then proceeding to take out his sketchbook and art supplies from the side of the sofa, after he had placed his mug on the side table.
Taehyung tilted his head.
“What exactly do you do?” He questions.
Jungkook looks up at him from the blank sheet.
“I'm an illustrator. I do logo and advertisement designs most of the time, it's very profitable as many businesses would require someone with the right knowledge to create a persuasive advertisement.”
Taehyung nodded slowly.
“But you still draw other things?” Another question bubbled up.
Jungkook hummed, crossing his legs on the couch, adjusting so that his black jeans won't pull uncomfortably.
“I do commission sometimes, mainly for leisure. Could you stay in this position, please?” Jungkook smiled up at him as he raised his pencil.
Taehyung nodded, sitting comfortably whilst having the mug of warm milk in between his palms.
He noticed the music which were playing softly from the speakers. Money Power Glory by Lana Del Rey lulling the comfortable atmosphere.
“How about you? Is the bistro the only job you have?” Jungkook asked whilst sketching the base for Taehyung’s silhouette.
He shook his head, playing with the mug in his hands as Freya stares at him.
“I have another job as a part time saxophone teacher. I plan on taking up a History course though, since I'm still young. Maybe I could become a history teacher.” He giggled as he said.
Jungkook looked up briefly, fondness gracing his smile as he looked back down to his sketchbook.
An hour goes by like this, with them talking about themselves, getting to know each other.
Taehyung took this opportunity to admire Jungkook. How his hair was parted to show his strong brows, his doe eyes scanning his canvas.
He had learnt that Jungkook grew up in Busan with his parents and older brother. He still contacts them regularly, but he hasn't visited them for awhile.
Taehyung also learnt that he got Freya as a birthday present from his good friend named Kim Namjoon 3 years ago, during his 18th birthday, the year which he entered college.
When he had completed his diploma during his second year, many businesses or new companies took interest in his illustrations online.
So, Jungkook decided to not complete his economics degree despite loving the subject, and went straight to illustration commissions.
They would meet up like this at Jungkook’s house every week.
With Jungkook sitting on the sofa with Taehyung, conjuring up images of the blonde with gentle strokes of his pencil.
Each time was passed with hearts in their eyes, with Taehyung nor Jungkook questioning the reason for this weekly routine.
Jungkook would then give the finished sketches to Taehyung, always complete with a different flower gifted each time along with the art works.
He had drew for Taehyung 10 pictures, he kept all 10 of them close to his heart.
A lot of times, Jungkook would drop by the bistro to watch Taehyung perform.
The singer would wink at him from time to time whilst on stage, smooth honey voice making all customers listening to fall into some sort of trance, especially Jungkook.
Jimin and Yoongi had became good friends with Jungkook as a result of his frequent visits, lovingly accepting him as they'll usually invite the artist to hang out.
The bistro with a vintage theme became Jungkook’s second home.
Despite the good sides of life, his work was stressful as ever. He's exhausted from keeping up with demanding customers, running about to meet with clients and stressing to reach the deadlines while trying to make his work as perfect as possible.
He was so caught up in his work that he didn't even realise Freya eating less and less everyday, losing her usually good appetite.
Until one day, he took a look closely at his dog to realise how poorly her face seems to be and how she wouldn't move when nudged or called.
That evening, Jungkook rushed her to the hospital, the dog panting whilst lying down in the back seat.
His eyes stinged with tears when he saw the state his best friend was in, lively eyes now droopy and unfocused.
He can't lose her, can't lose the dog which had been by his side through thick and thin.
When Freya was brought into the vet's office, Jungkook watched whilst biting his nails as the vet examined his dog.
The lights in the office were too bright for Jungkook, making his headache even worse as he squints to keep an eye on the alaskan malamute.
“You'll be okay buddy.” He whispered in a shaky voice.
Freya seemed to understand what Jungkook is saying, moving her eyes to look up at her owner from where she is lying down with hopeful eyes. He holds back a sob which threatens to wrack his body.
“She may be suspected with either liver issues or heart problems. It could be a liver inflammation, or deadly heart or liver disease which may cause heart or liver failure. These are the reasons why she lost her appetite. Plus the fact she refuses to eat, which is why she has extremely low energy levels now. I will give her a drip for that.” The vet explained.
Jungkook’s heart pounded, the word ‘heart and liver failure’ rang in his ears on repeat. However there is still hope, it could very well be a less harmless disease.
Swallowing the lump in his throat, he ran his shaky fingers through her soft fur, Freya closing her eyes slowly in exhaustion and content. The sight made his heart clench, tears threaten to drip down his cheeks.
“W-When would I know what is it?” He asked shakily, shifting his misty gaze up to the vet.
The vet looked at him with sympathy.
“Tomorrow morning, it will take some time to go through with a full diagnosis to confirm on the problem we are faced with. You can come in at 10 a.m., you'll be free for the weekend I assume?”
Jungkook nodded jerkily, pursing his lips.
“Yes. I will. Thank you so much.” He thanked the vet before bending down in front of the examination table.
Freya opened her eyes to look at her owner.
Two sad eyes meet, causing a stray tear to roll down Jungkook’s cheek. He closed his eyes and leaned in, pressing a soft kiss in between her ears.
The dogs ears flattened and she closed her eyes yet again, as Jungkook stayed there with his face buried in her fur for a few more seconds.
A soft whimper escaped from the alaskan malamute, as if she was pleading for her owner to not leave her.
“I love you so much, you're my good girl. I'll come get you tomorrow morning yeah? I promise.” He gave her a watery smile.
That night, Jungkook could only think of one place to go.
He blindly pulled up in a parking bracket by the street, right in front of a glowing sign which read Serendipity.
With unsteady feet, he got out of the car. His body was numb, he had been panicking for so long that the energy had all left his body.
He knows he should have hope, as Freya has a chance of being okay, and he'll have a chance to see the dog jump happily up and down the sofa once more.
But the more he thought about his dog's sad eyes, the more his heart breaks.
Yoongi, Jimin and Taehyung are already starting to clean up. All the other staff and customers had already left.
When the bell above the door rang, Taehyung was prepared to call out, saying how the bistro is already closed until he looked clearly at who is entering.
Upon seeing Jungkook disheveled hair, red puffy eyes and tear streaked face, he immediately walked over to the brunette and pulled him into a hug.
He pushed Jungkook’s head closer so he had his face buried in the crook of the blonde's neck.
With the soft scent of Taehyung's lingering lavender body lotion, it coaxed out sobs which had previously stopped on the way here.
He clutches onto the fabric of Taehyung’s shirt, tears coming heavily as he gently stroked Jungkook’s dark hair, all the while whispering comforting words.
“You're okay. I'm here for you.” He'll whisper.
It made Jungkook slightly less sad, but he was still nonetheless miserable. The tears were now soaked into Taehyung’s silk dress shirt.
Taehyung looked up to find Yoongi and Jimin gazing at them with worried expressions.
He shook his head.
“I will take him home. You guys go first, I'll lock up.” He spoke lowly.
Yoongi nodded and tugged on Jimin’s sleeve, signalling him that they should go and give the two some privacy.
Eventually, Taehyung managed to guide Jungkook out of the bistro with him by his side.
After he had locked up he reached out his free hand which was not wrapped warmly around Jungkook’s shoulder.
Jungkook sniffles and looks up at him in confusion. Taehyung smiles gently.
“Your car keys. I will drive you.”
It takes a while for Jungkook to register the words before he nods, unlocking the car doors before passing it to the other.
They sat in silence as Taehyung started the car, all the while not asking Jungkook about what happened during the whole drive. Jungkook appreciates that.
However, Jungkook panics when Taehyung pulls up in an unfamiliar neighbourhood. He sat up abruptly and looked out the window.
“What? W-Where are we? This is not my pla-”
“Hey, it's okay. This is my place.” He explains softly.
Jungkook’s eyes widened.
“But, your house is your private sanctuary. Y-you don't allow anyone else to enter.”
Taehyung shushes him softly, gliding his palm down Jungkook’s arm.
“And you'll be the first. C’mon.” He coaxed gently.
The way Jungkook shivers and nods, made Taehyung’s heart ache. He had never seen Jungkook so vulnerable before, the first time Taehyung had saw him so fragile.
They entered Taehyung’s townhouse, and Jungkook was surprised by the beautiful interior.
Rustic furniture decorated the house, alongside with many different plants. Some sat onto the tables, some were hanging beautifully by the large glass doors which leads to the balcony.
Most of the house was made out of wood, giving it feel super cozy and homely.
It's a simple house, yet it felt as if entering this home had blocked out the outside world.
Taehyung pushed slightly on his lower back, encouraging Jungkook to sit down on the pull out couch.
“I'll be right back.” Taehyung whispers as he up to his bedroom, leaving Jungkook curled up on the cream coloured couch.
When the blonde came back, he was holding a light blue fuzzy blanket.
Jungkook’s heart fluttered as Taehyung sat down next to him, so he could wrap the big blanket around both of their bodies.
He tucks the blanket up to Jungkook’s chin before pulling him in.
Jungkook leaned against Taehyung chest, listening to his heartbeat as a protective arm wrapped around the brunette.
With his eyes closed, Jungkook started to speak.
“It's Freya. S-She's suspected for liver or heart disease. It may or may not be fatal, I would only know by tomorrow morning. What if she dies before I can say goodbye? I can't-” He spoke softly, a loud sob cutting him off as he nuzzled into Taehyung’s chest.
The blonde sighed and stroked Jungkook’s hair gently, playing with the dark brown strands.
“Oh Jungkookie.” He whispers whilst closing his eyes.
He knew how much the dog meant to Jungkook, how he loves her as if she was his own child.
Jungkook sniffles from time to time while being wrapped up in Taehyung arms, feeling beyond tired but still unable to sleep.
“Do you want to hear a story about my grandmother? I know it'll be on different context but maybe it'll keep your mind off things. ” He asked all of the sudden.
Jungkook shifted his head so he's looking up at the blonde, moonlight streaming in from the window making his wide teary eyes glisten even more.
Taehyung took a deep breath, preparing to share a deep part of his soul that no one had ever seen or heard.
“When I was young, about 8 years old; My grandfather passed away from suicide. It was hard on my grandmother since she had lost her muse, the one who had sparked joy in her life and taught her to love herself before he could even love himself.”
He lazily played with Jungkook’s hands, watching how perfectly their hands fit when intertwined.
“A week after he had passed on, my grandmother came into my room one night with her eyes red with tears. She told me ‘Dear, you may still be young to truly understand this but there is no feeling such as losing the one you love. ”
Taehyung paused, in need to take in a shaky breath before continuing. Jungkook tightened the hold on his hand.
“-But believe me when I say the ones that had truly loved in their lifetime, never goes away. They live on as words and memories. The conversations they had, the lessons they had thought you, stays alive right here.” Taehyung points at Jungkook’s chest, right where his heart is beating.
Tears now rolled freely down Taehyung’s cheeks, but he has to finish this story.
“She told me, ‘Appreciate everything you have now, no matter how mundane it may be. Any day may be your last day being able to get up from the bed to enjoy your favourite breakfast dish. Any day may be your last day of being able to hold a conversation with your loved ones.
She said, forgive yourself and forgive others. Forgiveness makes you let go of the burden within your heart, and in turn you'll become a better person.” He paused to look at Jungkook with misty eyes.
Light trails of fresh tears also stained Jungkook’s cheeks as he listened. Taehyung moved one of his shaky hands up to caress his right cheek.
“However one of the most important lessons my grandmother had taught me was when she was during her last days as she laid comfortably in her bed with tubes around her body. She told me if I had found my true meaning in life, I would not want to go back in time to change anything despite being so weak and sick.
Why would you want to go back and change when you could change other's lives. Everything she had taught me made me realise what is my meaning in life Jungkook.” A sob escaped Taehyung’s lips.
The brunette sat up straight just to pull the man into a tight embrace, his arms snaked around his neck as Taehyung’s wrapped itself securely around his waist.
He leaned his head heavily against the other.
“My meaning in life is acceptance and compassion. I had accepted that the past is the past, and we could only move forward from it. I learnt that compassion is the most important thing of making us human. Devote ourselves to others, listen carefully when people are speaking to you. Devote yourself to something that gives your life purpose and meaning.” He whispers through the tears as he nuzzled his nose into Jungkook’s dark hair.
All his emotions came crashing down on him all at once, but this time he doesn't shy away from it.
This time, Taehyung embraces everything. He embraces the feeling grief, the gap in his heart and the boy in his arms.
He's ready to move on, Taehyung tells himself. A thought so sad, yet so refreshing to him.
‘I'm ready to move on grandma.’ He thought to himself as he removed one hand from Jungkook’s waist, so he could press to fingers to his lips.
He then blows a kiss to the sky, eyes filled with serenity and the shine of a healing man.
“Are you proud of me?”
Before Jungkook could respond, he realised that the question was not meant for him. Instead it is meant for the lady in the sky, keeping watch on her beloved grandson through the pale moonlight.
***
Freya is okay.
The call came in, the vet had told Jungkook that she has a case of liver inflammation.
She was lucky that she was brought to the vet before anything serious can happen. Freya just needs to take her medication which would be offered by the vet later.
He had also told Jungkook that he could come pick her up immediately.
He bursts into tears of relief, curling in on himself as Taehyung ran his palm down the expanse of Jungkook’s back.
“She's okay Tae, She's okay.” He whispers, smiling so wide that his cheeks hurt.
Taehyung returned the smile, pulling him into a big hug. They shared the feelings of happiness and relief as they both laughed breathlessly into each other's hair.
The next move was made by Jungkook, fueled with a surge of gratefulness as he pulled Taehyung in for a crashing kiss.
For a few seconds, Taehyung didn't respond. He just stood still as if he were electrocuted.
Jungkook was overcome with embarrassment for that particular moment, ready to pull away and apologise profusely until Taehyung pulled him back in, returning the kiss with just as much love and passion.
They were breathless as they pulled apart, standing there panting in the middle of the small living room surrounded with plants.
When the two had arrived at the pet's clinic, the vet was waiting by the door with an excited alaskan malamute.
Jungkook immediately ran towards his dog, peppering her fur with many small kisses as he mumbles incoherent words of affection.
Freya was just as excited, immediately jumping up to rest her giant front paws against Jungkook’s shoulders while licking his face.
The blonde watched fondly as the dog nearly pushes her owner down, making Jungkook giggle so hard that his eyes close.
That day was the day where Taehyung realised that he had finally found love once more.
***
Since the night when Jungkook came over, Taehyung no long kept his home privately to himself.
He had allowed Jimin to come over for the first time last week.
As he walked past the front door, Taehyung immediately turned to him with a serene smile.
“I have moved on, Jimin.” He had said.
That day marks the first time he had saw Jimin crying so hard.
But instead of sadness which clouds his eyes, it was shining with pride. He was proud for his best friend and his soul mate.
Taehyung felt as if a weight had been lifted off from his heart.
That day was also a special day for Jungkook and Taehyung.
“Jungkookie.” Taehyung called out suddenly from the front passenger seat.
The brunette snapped his head up from his steering wheel, the car parked in place in front of Taehyung’s townhouse.
“I love you.” He suddenly declared.
Jungkook was surprised at the sudden confession, but his expression softened right after into pure adoration for the beautiful jazz singer.
“I love you too.” Jungkook said with a small smile.
The radio was still softly playing in the background, the first song Jungkook had heard Taehyung sang, La Vie En Rose.
It luls them into a comfortable atmosphere, and all Taehyung could think of is how perfect this moment was.
