Work Header

your love planted a seed, i let it grow into a tree

Summary:

“Love you,” Jimin says because there’s too much he wants to say but he doesn’t understand most of it yet, isn’t sure if what he’s feeling right now is what he really wants, what he really needs, or if it’s just the result of wine and too much love. But those two words are enough for now; they’re the basis of it all.

-or-

Namjoon and Seokjin adopt kids and it sends Jimin into an existential crisis, sort of.

Notes:

so yesterday i got an anon on cc that asked me about vmin + kids and then today on GMA Jimin and Taehyung were in presence of kids and so this was born. Been dying to write kid fic for these two forever so i'm glad it happened! I hope you enjoy it too! As usual, unbeta'ed!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Jimin makes his way down the upstairs hallway, feeling content down to his bones. He drank a little wine during dinner but nothing to make him feel too loose. No, the soft cotton candy warmth he’s feeling right now comes from spending a day with the people he loves most and watching them be happy.

He can’t get Namjoon and Seokjin’s smiles out of his mind.

They’ve waited so long for this happiness, worked so hard for it and watching it all unfold has left Jimin feeling tipsy on love. His heart feels so light, so full, Jimin feels like he’s floating. It’s gratifying to see good people get what they want. It gives him hope.

As he gets closer, he can already hear Taehyung’s deep voice coming from Jaehwa’s room so he lightens his footsteps and perks his ears up.

“Tigers can’t fall in love,” the little girl says. She sounds curious despite her flat tone.

“This tiger did,” Taehyung replies softly. Jimin is right by Jaehwa’s door now and he can peek inside the room. Taehyung is lying on the floor in the middle of the room with his feet flat on the floor, knees bend while Jaehwa leans sideways on his legs, her chin resting on his knees. Scattered around them, there are crayons, papers, some plush toys, toy cars and a discarded, unfinished puzzle. Jaehwa is already wearing her rabbit onesie (a gift from Uncle Jungkook) and Taehyung is holding a small plush tiger in one hand and Jaehwa’s bedside lamp which is shaped like a full moon in the other.

Jaehwa tilts her head and narrows her eyes at her uncle. “The tiger fell in love with the moon?”

Taehyung grins at her, big, boxy, and warm. Jimin melts at the sight.

“Well, you see, the tiger loved his family and his friends a lot but the moon had been his longest companion. He had trouble sleeping sometimes and the moon would always keep him company, sooth his fears,” Taehyung says bringing the plush tiger to Jaehwa’s cheek and making it kiss her. The little girl giggles as she gives a kiss back. Taehyung’s deep chuckle makes her laugh harder.

Jimin’s heart constricts in his chest. He comes into full view and leans against the door frame. Taehyung catch his eyes and throws him a quick wink before turning back to the little girl.

“Tigers can’t be scared,” Jaehwa counters when she stops giggling.

“Everyone, every creature on Earth, is scared of something. It’s alright, there’s nothing wrong with fears,” Taehyung tells her.

Jaehwa bites her bottom lip and lays her cheek on his knees.

“Are you scared of something, oppa?”

Taehyung rakes his long fingers in her hair reassuringly. “I’m scared of heights. I’m scared of being lonely. Sometimes, I’m afraid that I’m not doing my best,” he smiles at her a bit sadly. Jaehwa looks at him for a long moment before shuffling on her knees and then lying beside him, with her head on his shoulder.

Jimin would be surprised at how easily Taehyung managed to win her over when even Namjoon and Seokjin say she’s still a little wary of them but then again, Jimin knows Taehyung better than anyone.

He knows how easy it is to love him.

“You don’t have to be scared,” she says and pats his chest with her small hand. At the sight, a seed is planted inside Jimin’s chest. “You’re not alone. You have all your friends. You have Jimin-oppa, he loves you very much,” she continues.

Taehyung smiles at Jimin over her head. “You noticed that, huh?”

“It’s kind of hard not to, he keeps kissing you,” she says making a face. Taehyung laughs and Jimin claps a hand over his mouth to keep his own laughter at bay.

“I like it when he kisses me,” Taehyung replies, his voice still shaking with mirth.

“My…my dads don’t kiss as much you two do,” she says, stumbling on the word dads . Jimin and Taehyung exchange a long look before Taehyung turns back to Jaehwa, wrapping one arm around her and bringing her a bit closer.

Namjoon and Seokjin brought Jaehwa and her baby brother, Haneul, home over three months ago. When they started the adoption process, they only had one kid in mind but they came across these two kids who had recently lost their parents and it felt like fate.

Haneul took to Namjoon and Seokjin very fast but Jaehwa is older, almost six years old, and  still grieving her parents. It’s taking longer for her to adjust to her new life.

“Namjoon-hyung is very shy and Seokjin-hyung isn’t very big on public displays of affection,” Taehyung explains calmly, his deep voice soothing.

“They love hugging me,” Jaehwa counters, a tad defensively.

Taehyung smiles. “You’re very huggable,” he says before pulling her fully on top of him and tickling her. Jaehwa flails and shrieks, trying to tickle back but laughing too hard to be able to manage.

Jimin watches them, feeling his heart hammer against his chest as the thing that was planted a moment ago starts to take root.

“Come on, you rascal. Time for bed,” Taehyung says and hoists her into his arms before bringing her to her bed. He bundles her into her covers and leans over her to kiss her forehead.

“Did the moon fall in love, too?” she asks, hugging the plush tiger close to her.

Taehyung looks over his shoulder at Jimin. His eyes are glinting with so much affection, Jimin almost keels over. He manages to stay upright and blows Taehyung a kiss.

His husband turns back to their friends’ daughter and smiles warmly down at her.

“Yeah, it did,” he says.

“I’m glad,” Jaehwa whispers, nuzzling the tiger.

“Me too, kid” Taehyung replies before leaning down and kissing her forehead again. “Your fathers will be up in a moment to read you a story, okay?”

She nods and Taehyung straightens up to walk toward Jimin.

“Oppa?” Jaehwa calls. Taehyung whirls around and waits for her to continue. “You don’t have to be afraid. You’re doing great already.” Taehyung takes in a shuddery breath and extends one of his hands back towards Jimin.

Jimin grabs it and intertwines their fingers.

“You think so?” Taehyung asks, voice shaky.

“You’re the best uncle,” she replies and Taehyung squeezes Jimin’s hand.

“You’re the best niece,” he replies. Jaehwa preens at him. “Oh, hi Jimin-oppa,” she says with a shy smile when she finally notices him at the door.

“Hi, sweetheart,” he waves with his free hand. He pulls Taehyung closer with the other and plasters his frame to his husband’s back. “Did you like the story of the tiger and the moon?” he asks, hooking his chin over Taehyung’s shoulder.

“Yes. It was weird,” she says and both men laugh.

“All magical stories are a bit weird,” Jimin says, his heart feeling too tender. Taehyung leans back against him, making their heads rest against each other. Jimin wraps an arm around his waist, pulling him just a bit closer.

They’ve been together for seven years, married for more than two and Jimin still feels like there’s always too much space between them.

“Weird is good,” Taehyung says and Jaehwa smiles at him.

“If you say so. Good night,” she says with a cute little scrunch of her nose, her missing front tooth winking at them.

“Night, peach,” Taehyung says. He switches off the main light, letting the moon bedside lamp be her only source of light until her fathers come to tuck her in for good. Jimin pulls Taehyung back until they’re walking towards the staircase.

Taehyung is smiling quietly to himself and Jimin’s heart is beating too fast, the roots have now expanded, seeping into the core of him, covering  his inside and making him yearn for something he doesn’t quite understand yet.

When they get to the top of the stairs, he squeezes Taehyung’s hand to stop him. His husband turns to look at him curiously and Jimin pulls until Taehyung wraps his arms around him. Jimin pushes to his tiptoes and buries his face in Taehyung’s neck; breathing him in deeply.

Ever since he met him, there’s been something so soothing about Taehyung’s scent. Something that helped Jimin settle and sooth his frayed nerves.

“You okay?” Taehyung asks, rubbing circles on his back. Jimin burrows closer and kisses his neck.

“Love you,” he says because there’s too much he wants to say but he doesn’t understand most of it yet, isn’t sure if what he’s feeling right now is what he really wants, what he really needs, or if it’s just the result of wine and too much love. But those two words are enough for now; they’re the basis of it all.

Taehyung kisses Jimin’s neck and holds him a bit tighter. “That’s always nice to hear.”

“Do you love me?” Jimin asks because he knows that will make Taehyung laugh. It does.

“You’re the best,” he says and Jimin hums happily. He pulls back to kiss him swiftly.

When they get downstairs, Namjoon is pacing around the living room with a fussy Haneul in his arms.

“Seokjin is in the kitchen preparing his last bottle of the day,” he informs them. Taehyung makes a beeline for them and Namjoon hands over the baby easily. Taehyung knows exactly how to place his hands, holding the baby just the right way and pulling him closer to start humming in his ear. When Jimin gets closer, he recognizes Little Star.

Low blow, Jimin thinks as he watches Taehyung sways from side to side and Haneul starts to quiet down. He looks at Taehyung in wonder, bringing one of his pudgy hands to Taehyung’s nose. Taehyung grins before putting the baby’s little fist into his mouth.

The baby screeches in delight and Jimin has to look away before his heart explodes inside his chest.

Taehyung releases him just as Seokjin arrives with the bottle.

“Here,” Jimin offers, taking the bottle from Seokjin. “Your daughter is waiting for you upstairs,” he says as he pulls Taehyung and his precious cargo to the couch. Once seated and Namjoon and Seokjin have gone upstairs, Taehyung settles Haneul in Jimin’s arms and Jimin readjust his position, leaning back against the couch cushion until he’s comfortable. He brings the bottle to Haneul’s mouth. The baby latches onto it and curls his tiny hands around it. He’s not yet big enough to hold it on his own but he’s getting there.

Taehyung leans over Jimin’s shoulder to coo at the baby and make faces at him.

And sitting there, on his friends’ couch, feeding their baby and with his husband’s warmth all over him and his heart, Jimin feels a sprout blossom inside his heart.

-*-

“I’m home!” Jimin yells as he closes the door and takes off his dress shoes. He loves his job, really he does, but he hates having to dress up for clients. He sighs in relief as the smell of tteokbokki reaches his nose.

One of the greatest things about domestic life with Taehyung is that Taehyung meant it when he said that he wanted to be the best partner for Jimin. He used to be terrible in the kitchen. A disaster, really. But he applied himself, taught himself to cook by watching youtube tutorials, cooking shows and even managed to make Seokjin teach him some of his most secret recipes..

These days, he cooks even better than Jimin.

Jimin rounds the corner just as something – someone – collides with his legs.

“Chim-oppa,” Jaehwa grins up at him. Jimin’s heart jumps in his chest and he bends down to pick her up.

“Well, this is just about the best welcome home I’ve ever gotten,” he says and she grins at him. There’s a couple of new gaps in her smile and it’s turning Jimin’s heart to mush. “Where’s Tae-oppa?” he asks.

“In here,” Taehyung yells from the kitchen as Jaehwa points to it. Jimin hoists Jaehwa higher up and secures her on his hip. She lays her head on his shoulder as they make their way to the kitchen.

“Did you have a good day, sweetheart?”

“We went to the zoo. I got to pet a goat. It was awesome,” she says with a big smile. Jimin kisses the crown of her head.

“Tae loves the zoo,” he says as they enter the kitchen.

“I do!” Taehyung singsongs, not looking up from where he’s feeding Haneul. He looks a bit funny with his eyes narrowed in concentration, his mouth slack and a little of what appears to be mashed peas smeared on his cheek.

Cute. Something warm and very good rushes inside Jimin.

He puts Jaehwa down and she hurries back to her seat across the table from Taehyung. Jimin rounds the table to kiss the top of Haneul’s head and when he turns to greet his husband, Taehyung’s already waiting for him, chin tilted up and mouth inviting.

“Husband of mine,” Jimin smiles before swooping in for a short peck. He pulls back only to find Taehyung pouting so he leans over again to kiss him a little more firmly. This time, when he leans away, Taehyung grins.

“That’s more like it,” he says and turns back to Haneul who’s clapping his mashed pea smeared hands together. “How was your day?” he asks Jimin who is now rummaging through the fridge for beer. He finds a can behind Taehyung’s strawberry juice. He pulls it out and closes the fridge door with his socked foot while he uncaps the can.

Jimin smirks over at Taehyung. “I got the Xi deal,” he says.

Taehyung’s head swivels around so fast, Jimin winces in sympathy but Taehyung is beaming at him, pride etched on every line of his face. “Babe!” he shouts startling both Haneul and Jaehwa. “Sorry, loves,” he apologizes immediately, kissing first Haneul and leaning over the table to kiss Jaehwa. He turns back to Jimin and beckons him closer. Jimin obliges and leans over when Taehyung tugs on his tie.

“Husband of mine,” he says, his tone dripping with affection. “Big shot, eh?” he teases before leaning up to brush his lips with Jimin’s.

Jimin leans down further, deepening the kiss just a little, letting Taehyung’s lips shut off the entire world. He’s been buzzing all day with nerves, even after the deal was done, he couldn’t shake off the excess energy. There was something itching just under his skin and it was only put to rest when he got to share the news with Taehyung.

Nothing feels real until he gets to share it with Taehyung.

“Proud of you,” Taehyung whispers when he pulls back. Jimin leans back in for another quick kiss.

“Thank you.”

“You two really kiss too much,” Jaehwa says with a tone that is strangely reminiscent of Namjoon’s. A statement of fact, not really an accusation but more like it’s something to ponder about.

Haneul babbles in what seems to be agreement.

“I love sweets and Jimin’s lips are made of candy,” Taehyung says without missing a beat. Jimin, ridiculously, flushes.

“I don’t believe you,” Jaehwa squints at Taehyung who squints back until she laughs.

“One day you’ll meet someone with lips like candy and then you’ll realize,” Taehyung says pointing a finger at her and Jimin’s smacks his arm in retaliation.

“As long as it’s not a boy,” Jaehwa says pulling a disgusted face.

“Cheers,” Jimin says lifting up his can.

Taehyung sticks out his tongue at him and resumes feeding the baby. Jimin sits besides Jaehwa as she finishes her dinner. He watches Taehyung put aside the mashed peas and then grab the wet wipes to clean Haneul’s face and hands. He’s so gentle about it, making comforting noises and chattering away about how proud he is of Haneul for finishing his supper and how he can’t wait to see him grow into a big and healthy boy. Haneul babbles back, smiling delightedly at Taehyung. When Taehyung is done, the baby takes out a clean wipe from the pack. Taehyung leans over, offering his face for cleaning, like he knew that’s what Haneul wanted. He laughs as the baby less than tender hands wipe away most of his foundation and Haneul shoves the wet wipe inside Taehyung’s mouth. Jaehwa’s laughter burst out of her and she leans sideway into Jimin for support.

Jimin’s heart is full to the brim with love.

Later, after Namjoon and Seokjin have picked the kids up and thanked Taehyung and Jimin over and over again for the help, Taehyung heads to the bathroom for a shower while Jimin sets up the table for their dinner. His hands are shaking a little as he puts the plates on the table. Ever since that dinner party at his hyungs’ place three months ago, he hasn’t been able to stop thinking about… things.

About Taehyung with kids. About how much Taehyung loves children and how much he wants to have children with Jimin. About a family, a bigger home, more people to love.

About the future.

Ever since he met Taehyung, the future has become something less scary. Jimin worries still, he wouldn’t be himself if he didn’t but Taehyung’s presence by his side, his boundless support and love, have helped Jimin relax a little. Ever since he met the other boy, Jimin suddenly found himself looking forward to the future, wanting to see what it had in store for the both of them.

At first it was just being in a relationship with Taehyung, discovering the ebb and flow of loving someone fully, of being loved back just the same way. It was discovering everything about Taehyung and finding out that there were even more amazing things to learn. It was settling into being in love, wrapping himself up in the feeling and carrying it everywhere with him, like a protective shield.

Then it was leaving university and finding a bigger place and living together. The rhythm didn’t speed up or slow down but it did change, bringing them into a new song, something mellower and somehow deeper. It was waking up every morning to Taehyung’s ridiculous bed head and feeling so at peace it was hard to leave the bed. It was small and big fights, learning each other’s habits anew and falling in love differently. It was going home every night after a long, terrible day at work and finding Taehyung, exhausted but so happy to see Jimin. It was making love in a bed that hasn’t been made for a week after fighting for that very same reason.

Later it was being a husband. It was looking down at their joined hands, with the their wedding bands kissing and feeling like he could take on the world as long as Taehyung was by his side. It was watching his husband flourish in the studio Jimin built for him. It was making love on the studio floor after Taehyung painted a galaxy across his body. It was staying up late to finish a report and having Taehyung stay with him, making him coffee and helping him untangle himself when he got in too deep. It was preparing brunches just for the two of them, feeding each other and fucking on the kitchen floor, their bodies sticky with whipped cream and chocolate syrup. It was having joined Christmas with both their families at the Kim’s farm and watching Jimin’s mother teaching Taehyung’s father how to knit.

It was happiness so real, so intense, that Jimin had to remind himself every day that he wasn’t dreaming.

Ever since he met Taehyung, all Jimin has done is build a future worth living for. For three months now, the future sounded like children’s laughter.

Jimin is putting the final glass on the table when he feels Taehyung wrapping himself around him from behind, effectively putting his musings to a stop.

“Hi,” he says against Jimin’s neck, his smiling mouth brushes the skin there. Jimin leans back into him and tilts his head sideways, offering more skin to kiss. Taehyung is more than happy to oblige it seems as he peepers about a million little kisses on Jimin.

“Hi. I’m hungry,” Jimin says, shuddering as Taehyung’s tongue comes out to tease him.

“Me too,” Taehyung says before nibbling on Jimin’s skin.

Jimin moans. “For food,” he amends but his resolve is crumbling rather fast. It’s just… well, Taehyung’s mouth is quite the incentive.

“Can’t it wait?” Taehyung asks turning him around and then kissing him deeply. Jimin pushes to his tiptoes and wraps his arms around his husband’s neck, bringing them closer.

He wants to forget everything and melts into Taehyung. He wants to wrap himself around Taehyung completely and let the world fade away but the tiny sprout that appeared in his heart three months ago has only grown, its roots digging deeper and deeper into Jimin. There’s a tree inside him now; big, vibrant and full of vitality. He’s tried to ignore it, tried to focus on what they have now but it’s a heavy tree and Jimin feels like the only way for it go away is to talk about it with Taehyung.

That always makes everything better.

So he pulls back from the kiss and look at his husband seriously. “There’s something we need to talk about,” he admits; feeling nervous and shy.

Taehyung’s eyes cloud over with concern. “Everything okay?”

“I’m fine, don’t worry,” Jimin reassures him with a soft kiss. “Come,” he says lacing their fingers together and leading Taehyung to his chair. Taehyung settles down and Jimin kisses the crown of his head. Taehyung tilts his head back and Jimin kisses his mouth. He walks around the table to settle across Taehyung. Taehyung watches him, his big brown eyes taking in everything. Jimin tries to smile reassuringly at him but there are nerves dancing a furious jig down his veins. He feels vulnerable in a way he hasn’t been in a while. Not with Taehyung at least.

Taehyung takes charge, like he always does when he knows Jimin has something on his mind. He gives Jimin time to find the words. He starts serving dinner and tells his husband about his outing with the kids. He gets this light in his eyes as he talks about it, something bright and warm, something that Jimin has always known was there but that has recently become something vital.

He listens to his husband talks about going to the zoo with Jaehwa and Haneul and all Jimin can think is: I want to go to the zoo with you and our kids .

“I want to have a kid,” Jimin blurts out suddenly. It slips out of his mouth abruptly, the words feeling too much like a confession.

Taehyung’s mouth falls open.

Jimin feels strung too tight, like he might explode if he doesn’t say everything he has to say. Now that the first words are out, there’s no way to stop the rest of them from bursting out of him. He looks at Taehyung whose expression is between a dead fish and deer caught in headlights.

Jimin nods. “I know, right? I told you that I wanted to be financially secure and that I wanted to wait to be completely ready. I think I’m ready. I’ve been thinking about it,” he takes a deep breath and chuckles a little. “I’ve thought about it so much, Tae. Lost a few nights of sleep over it.” Taehyung puts aside his chopsticks and extends a hand toward Jimin. Jimin looks at his big hand, his slender finger and his wrists with half a dozen silver bracelets wrapped around it. He sees the Gucci bracelet he got him for their fifth anniversary and he feels a lump in his throat.

They’ve shared so much together, he loves Taehyung so much; all he’s ever wanted was to give him the entire world.

He entwines their fingers and gives him a wobbly smile.

“You brought so much light and happiness into my life,” he says.

“You are my light, Jimin-ah,” Taehyung replies pulling Jimin’s palm to his mouth and kissing it.

Jimin nods, swallowing harshly, because he knows, because he feels the same way. “I just want to make you happy,” he says.

Taehyung brings Jimin’s hand to his face, nuzzles into the palm, his own hand over it. “You do. I am happy, every day. I don’t need anything else.”

“I want something else. Is-is that okay?” Jimin asks, voicing his main fear. Because that’s the issue, isn’t it? He wants more than what he already has and that feels greedy.

“What do you mean? Of course it’s alright,” Taehyung says, letting their joined hands fall back on the table.

“I mean that I don’t want you to think that you’re not enough. I could live the rest of my life with you alone, the whole world gone, and I would still be the happiest man on Earth,” Jimin says.

Taehyung grins teasingly. “Well, it’s easy to be the happiest man on Earth if everyone else is gone.”

Jimin pulls a face. “You know what I mean.”

Taehyung nods, bringing Jimin’s hand to his mouth again and kissing his knuckles. “I do, I feel the same way.”

“So, being the happiest man on Earth and all, shouldn’t I content myself with what I have already?”

“You were never the kind of man to content yourself with the bare minimum,” Taehyung counters.

Jimin bristles. “You are not ‘bare minimum’ Kim Taehyung”, he scolds.

Taehyung waves that away with a tiny, happy smile. “You’ve always wanted kids, Jimin. This is not news to me. Wanting to have kids doesn’t make you a monster.”

Jimin nods and worries his bottom lip between his teeth. “We’re not financially ready,” Jimin says.

Taehyung shrugs. “We’re more ready than a lot of couples. My pieces from the last exhibit are selling well enough, and you just scored the Xi contract. We have money saved up. This loft is big enough for at least two more people,” he lists, leaning his torso against the table.

“We could be more ready in a couple of years. We’ve only been married for two and we haven’t traveled as much as we said we would,” Jimin counters.

“I can wait,” Taehyung shrugs again but Jimin feels a pinch at his heart. He doesn’t want to wait.

Taehyung would have waited a lifetime for Jimin to be ready. It’s not just that Taehyung wants Jimin to be happy; it’s that Taehyung is never one to push his own needs on people. When they started dating, one of the first thing that Taehyung told Jimin is that he wanted a big family but that was basically the only time Taehyung talked about it. He says the occasional “when he have kids” in passing but it’s never serious. Jimin has never felt pressured when he’s with Taehyung. He’s always safe and understood. Known and accepted.

Jimin always appreciated that about him even as he worried that he was being selfish. He doesn’t want to be selfish now. Just because he’s ready to have kids now, doesn’t mean it’s what Taehyung wants.

Or so he thought. Apparently he was wrong.

“Do you want to have kids?” he asks, just to be sure.

There’s a smile dancing at the corner of Taehyung’s lips. “Oh, babe. I think that it would be the greatest adventure to have kids with you. I think there’s nobody else in the entire world I’d rather have kids with. I think you’re going to be the most annoyingly perfect dad the world has ever seen and I want front row tickets to the show. I think I can’t wait for the moms at school meetings to ask me how I snagged someone like you,” Taehyung says, eyes shining with love. “I knew when I met you.”

“Knew what?” Jimin asks on the verge of tears.

“Knew that I wanted to build a home with you. I knew that you’d be the perfect partner for me,” Taehyung answers seriously, like he’s speaking a truth he’s lived with forever.

Jimin might be crying, now. Just a little. Nothing worth mentioning, really.

Taehyung kisses the pad of Jimin’s thumb.

“I want a family with you,” he says. ”I want to come home to our screaming children, to find the house a mess and the sound of your laughter ringing around the entire loft. You have the greatest laugh,” he sighs a little as he says that. “Jimin, you’re already my home but there’s always room for more,” Taehyung says, laying their joined hands over his chest.

Jimin is definitely crying now. Taehyung’s eyes are misty, too.

“I want a f-family with you, too,” Jimin kind of wails. In his defense, Taehyung is the worst.

Taehyung pulls on his hand until Jimin gets the hint. He jumps to his feet and rounds the table. Taehyung has already turned his chair and his waiting for him. Jimin falls into his lap and buries his gross, wet face into his neck. He inhales deeply, trying to calm himself down.

Taehyung smells like lavender because he dabs a little bit of stress relief oil on his neck every morning and every night. Maybe that’s what relaxes Jimin.

No, Jimin thinks. That’s just Taehyung.

“You’ve been so good with Jaehwa and Haneul. I’ve seen how happy you were with them and selfishly, all I’ve wanted is to have it for myself. Have kids with you, watch you bloom, watch them grow, build something solid and beautiful and warm. Because you are so good, so good , Taehyungie. Just the fucking best,” he says and starts leaving small kisses all over Taehyung’s face. “You’re so beautiful and kind and patient; you’d make the most wonderful dad. Your heart is good,” he stops kissing him and lays his other hand against Taehyung’s heart. “You heart is made of light. The way you love, Tae,” Jimin shakes his head and swallows back more tears. “It’s just magic. You’re magic because you infuse hope into everyone. You make people want to do better. You made me better.”

“You were already the greatest,” Taehyung counters, voice shaky with his own tears. Jimin wipes them away and gives him a few more kisses.

“Well, then, you made me feel worthy,” Jimin says and Taehyung inhales sharply. He pulls Jimin down for a searing kiss.

“There’s no one more worthy of love than you, Jimin. No one.”

They kiss again, wet and deep and full of devotion. They kiss until Jimin feels light-headed and warm all over. When Taehyung pulls back, his lips are slick and pink. Jimin’s stomach tightens at the sight. But before he can do anything about it, they have to finish what they started.

“I’ve never wanted to share you with anyone. What you and I have, it always felt sacred to me,” Jimin starts.

Taehyung nods. “I know. It’s the same for me, too.”

Jimin cups his face with both hands and kisses him softly. When he pulls back, he brushes his thumb over Taehyung’s cheek, gazing into his eyes.

“I think I’d like to share you with our children,” he says.

Taehyung grins. “Plenty of room,” he repeats with an adorable scrunch of his nose. His husband is adorable. A thought occurs to Jimin and he groans. “What?” Taehyung asks.

“I already had a very hard time saying no to you, there’s no way I’m ever going to have the last words with you holding a baby ,” Jimin laments.

Taehyung bursts out laughing. “I promise to only use my powers for good.”

Jimin rolls his eyes. “I’m doomed, aren’t I?”

Taehyung gives him that impish smile Jimin loves so much; the one that makes him look like he just got away with stealing cookies before dinner. His boxy grin eating half of his face, his cheeks all puffed out and kissable, his eyes having disappeared into crescents.

Jimin’s heart skips a beat as he leans over to kiss the mole on Taehyung’s nose.

“So, we’re having kids, huh?” Taehyung says, stars twinkling in his eyes.

Jimin nods, nerves, the good kind, bubbling inside his chest. “Yes. It would appear so.”

Taehyung wraps his arms tighter around Jimin’s waist and kisses his cheek.

“That’s some good news,” he says against Jimin’s skin.

Yes, Jimin thinks so, too.
