I used their English names because I am trash and it's too early to rethink this story.

Made at 1 am when I sleep normally at 8 pm.

Work Text:

Jay was always in the background.

Sitting near the window all by himself, blonde bangs covering his eyes as he stared off out into the sky, thinking nothing in particular.

That was his daily routine at least until that transfer student came.

At first Jay thought he was just another pretty face, a pretty face that would bully kids like Jiho but no instead he took Jiho in.

Granted Jay could actually tell that Jiho didn't see him as a friend, just a pedestal for fame and attention which was petty already in it's own right.

But the transfer student, Daniel Park, didn't seem to notice.

Jay watched over him more, how easily won against Zack and shook off Vasco's grip with ease.

This intrigued Jay, where did this wonder boy come from? Was he human? Well judging by how he lacked confidence and hesitated in conversations, Jay noticed that Daniel Park was definitely unique. He had secrets that he hid.

He barely talked about his past or his family in public and Jay noticed he only had about two pairs of shoes that he alternated each day and limited clothing judging by how much he wore his uniform the same way everyday.

"See ya, Jay." a voice single-handedly derailed Jay's thoughts as he stood up about to go home.

It surprised him when he saw Daniel smile and wave at him, not wanting to upset Daniel Jay waved awkwardly and slowly back.

Unintentionally Jay listened to Daniel's conversation to his mom, now knowing that Daniel's birthday was tomorrow and judging by their conversation and tone he used when addressing her they seemed quite close.

While Daniel was still on the phone, Jay heard grumblings coming from the girls who admired Daniel and the jealous brand-treasuring losers.

A few kids that only treasured brand names were going to start the rumor that Daniel was poor.

Normally Jay would let this slide since bullying was common and he was just a background character to others that only made his formerly invisible presence known when he stopped Zack from punching Daniel, but this irked him.

Daniel was an innocent transfer student now going to get thrown some shade because people were shallow enough to care if he wore brand names to show his worth in society instead of his personality and actions. Which as far as Jay could tell, Daniel's personality was one of the kindest yet most innocent he's ever witnessed in the years he's been in high school.

Maybe that's what drew him in to be interested in Daniel. He had the innocence that made him adorable and charming.

Jay knew this feeling wouldn't let him go, even as he was relaxed at home staring at the ceiling on the floor with a neat stack of papers and a pen by his side.

He was in a state of undress as he sat up and began scrawling words onto the paper thinking of how he should introduce himself and to say happy birthday but they all seemed to say too much. Too much words for a letter written from him to someone as innocent as Daniel.

Jay lied back down as he slightly tilted his head to the stack of duffel bags lying in the corner that were filled with clothes he either wore once or never at all.

At least the gift part was finished, just not the birthday greeting.

Jay let out a noise of frustration as he got back up and scrawled a simple 'Happy B-Day' on a clean piece of paper, he was getting overworked for someone who had just caught his interest but as he stuck the paper on a blue duffel bag he couldn't help but smile slightly when he thought of what would Daniel's reactions would be.

'Would he smile at me? Would he cry? Would he run away from me once I give this to him or get near him? Or would he toss the gifts back with a look of disgust saying that he doesn't want pity gifts for his birthday?' Jay thought as he looked over the bags before realizing he was once again overthinking it.

Jay went back to lying on the floor which he knew his butler if he were watching him now, would send him a look of disapproval and tell him to get up but for now Jay like the view staring at his ceiling and thinking of Daniel.

Daniel the boy who held innocence and mystery within.

------

Jay listened quietly as he silently sat at his desk as usual, no one able to tell his inner excitement the next day.

He decided to go smoke away some of the excitement so he went off to a secluded place to smoke and not get caught.

He overheard Burn Knuckles members discussing an attack on Daniel, the discussion once again irking something within him.

What was wrong with these people and picking on Daniel? Or anyone for that matter? Don't they have a life?

Apparently they didn't, once school ended Jay followed after them and beat them up.

He hoped that the blows he delivered to their persons would knock sense into them. If not they'd see him more frequently, especially if they threaten the angel known as Daniel.

Jay walked out the alley, unscathed as he noticed that his butler had helped place the bags in their designated place that he assigned. Choosing the blue one that he had stuck the note on out of the pile and slinging both the yellow straps over one shoulder he stood and waited.

He had asked for a little intel on Daniel's route home in case the Burn Knuckles crew were wrong and possibly miscalculated because they're human, They make mistakes.

Jay saw Daniel coming so he approached, he felt his heart beat a tad quicker as he noticed the innocent aura Daniel gave off.

Daniel seemed surprised as he proceeded to ask Jay about him living in the area and such but Jay remained silent as usual.

He dropped the bag onto the ground, backing up a bit as Daniel crouched down to look at it.

Jay wasn't disappointed as he let a small smile grow on his face as he saw Daniel's flustered but grateful face as he looked at the clothes within.

Was it weird to question that every time Daniel looked at him Jay could feel his heart about to burst either in excitement or nervousness?

Daniel tried to give them back but Jay's nods of convincing that Daniel understood delivered something that made Jay feel like he was shot by an arrow in his heart.

Daniel's smile.

He was happy, the aura around him seemed to glow.

Jay backed up, he felt like the aura was blinding him.

Daniel didn't seem to notice Jay retreat somewhere beyond until he went to ask Jay when his birthday was to give a gift in return.

But Jay saw Daniel's shock from where ever he was once he saw the stack of bags nearby, the smile never leaving his face as he chose to walk home.

He had a feeling that he was going to be drawn more and more to Daniel.

It was obvious but he accepted it.

The combination of innocence and mystery was a killer combo.
