Chapter Text
The first time you looked at him, a sudden rush of emotions overcame you and you felt your heart fill endlessly.
He smiled at you. You mustered a shy one back.
The morning passed at a snail's pace afterward, his smile replaying in your head over and over again.
-
You had accidentally bumped into a rather intimidating student at the cafeteria during lunch, your tray wobbling haphazardly in your hands. He steadied you swiftly, a warm hand finding its way to your shoulder. You fought back a shiver at the sudden contact.
“Sorry!... Oh! I didn't think I'd see you again.”
“I’m really sorry I wasn’t paying atten-… Wait, me?” Finding the courage to look up, your face lit up with recognition. It's him!
“Yes, you! I didn’t get to say anything earlier, but it’s nice to get the chance to talk to you now! I’m Mirio!”
“Ah… likewise. It’s nice to meet you, Mirio.”
His cheerful face was ingrained in your mind as you laid in bed that night, his sweet laughter occupying your thoughts. It’s a miracle you got any sleep at all. (Your heart was bursting because of him, and he was none the wiser.)
-
It was time for mid-year exams, your patience for anything and everything running dangerously low. You were finishing up on reading a chapter in your textbook, your brain and body spent. Even on the journey to becoming a proper hero, you still had to humble yourself with endless pages of mind-numbing text. Is any of this useful? As you thought tragically about all the fun things you could have done in the time you spent studying, you suddenly felt a large presence facing your table. You carefully lift your head up to see a familiar face looking right at you.
“It's you again! We've been running into each other a lot lately. Studying, huh?” Mirio looms over you, a pondering expression on his face.
You nod, unsure of what else to say. How long has he been standing here?
“Hmm… let’s take a walk to the vending machine! You look like you need a break.” Your face showed immediate relief at the opportunity for a much-needed distraction, Mirio taking notice of it immediately.
“Lemillion, at your service! Always ready to help out with shirking your responsibilities!”
You couldn’t help but let out a giggle at his exclamation, pretending to swoon as he struck a heroic pose. The two of you ended up spending most of your break arguing over which brand of canned coffee is the tastiest, eventually taking note of the time and scrambling back to gather your things before you were both late to your next class.
