“No, Fire, no!” Is the last thing Namjoon hears before being taken down by twenty kilograms of white, fluffy dog. The dog excitedly pins Namjoon to the floor with a paw on each shoulder and licks his face up and down. Namjoon’s own dog, Rapmon, barks happily while circling the two of them, tail swishing happily. At least the little shit didn't took the opportunity to run away.
“Hey, are you dead?” A guy peers at him curiously. He grabs Fire's collar between two fingers and yanks gently and the dog gets off Namjoon obediently. “Bad dog,” He scolds, looking severe. Namjoon and the dog both recoil on themselves.
Autumn leaves are crackling under Namjoon’s back and he's sure his jacket is slowly getting wet because of the morning dew. The guy and his dog are looking down on him, the orange-and-yellow scenery making them look like they’re glowing. Fire. “Am I in heaven?”
“What, because I look like an angel?” The guy asks with an eye roll.
“She does,” Namjoon answers, pointing at Fire who's currently licking Rapmon so vigorously the little dog gets lifted from the ground every so often.
“He,” The guy corrects quickly. “He's a little bit of a demon but the breeder told me he was an excellent judge of character, so. You're dead but you can be honoured he choose to kill you.”
“Flattered,” Namjoon says and the guy laughs. Oh, well. He looks like an angel almost as much as his dog. He extents a hand to lift Namjoon from the ground and laughs again when he plucks a wet orange leaf stuck to Namjoon’s jacket. “A good judge of character, uh?” He asks, looking at the way Fire rolls onto his back in front of Rapmon.
“I think the breeder was just trying to get me to choose him cause he isn’t suited for competitions.” Namjoon tilts his head, questioning. “His tail’s too short, it doesn’t touch his back. A fatal flaw, apparently, and one that justify lying to honest citizens.” The guy rolls his eyes. “Like I’d ever wanted any dog but him.”
“Cute,” Namjoon comments and he promptly blushes when he realises he’d said it out loud. The guy is watching at their dogs, luckily, and he nods slowly.
“Cute,” He confirms. “I don’t think I caught your name, big dude?”
“Namjoon,” The guy turns to him and Namjoon blushes.
“Unusual,” The guy comments with a raised brow. Namjoon blushes harder.
“You were talking to my dog, of course, oh my god. I’m so…” He grabs Rapmon’s leash and tries to tug him away from Fire. The guy reaches for his arm.
“No don’t-”
Rapmon’s take the opportunity to try to slip away from his master’s grasp and runs happily to Fire, tangling his leash in Namjoon’s and the guy’s legs. They both try to regain their balance, Namjoon by flailing around and the guy by both pulling and pushing at Namjoon, but they end up tumbling to the floor, Namjoon flat on his back and the guy on his chest. He looks down at Namjoon, a pretty blush slowly appearing on his cheeks.
“I’m so sorry. I knew I shouldn’t let him watch the 101 dalmatians that often.”
The guy turns his head to watch their dogs enthusiastically licking each other’s faces then smiles at Namjoon. Wow, Namjoon thinks. Pinned down by an angel twice in a day. Not bad.
“I’m not sure about adopting a thousand dogs with you yet,” He says, getting back on his feet and helping Namjoon once again standing up. “But we can start with a date, what about that? I know a nice dog park nearby.”
Rapmon is looking at Namjoon so pleadingly he’d swear his dog understands what’s going on.
“Rapmon and I would be happy to go on a date with you.”
“Rapmon, uh?” The guy says to his dog who answers with an energetic tail swish. “Happy to meet you, Rapmon, I’m Seokjin.” Rapmon barks one and runs off, the leash slipping from Namjoon’s grip once again.
“Oh no,” He groans, smiling apolegectly to Seokjin. “Come on, bad dog,” He yells, running after Rapmon’s small but quick form. He hears Seokjin laughing behind him.
“We’ll meet you there!” He yells after him. Namjoon can’t help but smile, even engaged in a race with his demon dog.
“We’ll wait for you!” He yells back. Seokjin’s laugh follows him all the way to the park.
