Work Text:

Namjoon finally got out from his office building. It was such a tiring day filled with paperwork and more paperwork stacked in a two-hour sitting, it was one of those days where the company is in its peak season. Being able to receive a number of consumers was always a blessing and a curse. While it is good for the pocket of many people, he swears it sometimes sucks the life of them but it's okay…it's cool, Namjoon can be a risk-taker if he has to. Except for the message he received last 3 months ago, he's not gonna reply to that. Not that kind of risky.

He already finished encoding some data in his laptop, print some necessary files and photocopied some, (there are also times where he needed to recheck and re-calculate, it was a nightmare) he still had a little bit of paper he needed to get finished by tomorrow morning and polish some tracks to upload it on music site. So he NEEDED to stop by somewhere to grab his dinner, possibly some snacks, and his doses of caffeine needed for the night.

Brisk walking against the harsh cold wind in the afternoon, trying not to get lost on this part of the city where he still hasn't explored yet near from where he lives and fighting off his tiredness, he already spots the local cozy café that was recommended a lot by Google and his co-workers.

Once entered, his eye caught interest on delicious-looking desserts. Maybe he'll get some of those dasik* later.

"Hello, may I take your order?" voice polite but at the same time unsure.

That voice sounded so familiar and he wasn't wrong when he looks up and found those almond eyes, with plush lips.

It's him. "Abdsjaszzeelfghuuuuh"

"Excuse me?" Seokjin asks with a worry.

"I want the beer." Namjoon finally produce some coherent words to which Seokjin give him an unsure "Okay,"

He goes on "We have Hite, Cass Light, and Lotte –"

"I want Cass red, 2 Cass red beers."

Seokjin looks at him as he punches the product code number "What else do you need, Sir?"

"Nothing else," Namjoon replies. Seokjin sighs "You might need some food, Sir."

"I don't need food," Namjoon says through his teeth despite the grumble of his stomach, Seokjin knows that this is one of those days when Namjoon is incredibly petty and stubborn "Okay, 1 japchae and a dumpling, what else?" punch numbers ignoring the other's sputters.

Seokjin looks at him, one order of japchae isn't enough for Joonie's stressed stomach and inquires "Anything else you want?" hoping to distract or to cut Namjoon from staring at him.

"One caramel macchiato," ah, he really likes that coffee. He wonders if Namjoon liked his version of caramel macchiato using only those cheap instant coffees, a sachet of powdered, and his homemade caramel syrup-

"And you," he spoke softly, he almost cannot hear it if it wasn't for the distance. Namjoon asked voice more audible and determined "When will your shift end?"

Seokjin stammers "30 mins from now." Namjoon nods "Okay, add one more set japchae and dumplings, and dark chocolate cake," "Hey Jinnie, isn't that your favorite cake?" Hobi, his best friend and chef, cues, and winks from kitchen-window, to which Namjoon only smiled. Jin rolls his eyes from hiding the giddiness he felt for any kind of possibilities. "For take-out, dalsik" Namjoon continued "And a homemade coffee from someone, sometime."

Once Namjoon goes to his chosen table to eat and maybe, just maybe because Jin doesn't want to celebrate yet, wait for him once his shift ends, he smiles as he prepares Namjoon's caramel macchiato knowing they are okay.

--

30 minutes after he changed from his uniform to his usual clothes, he went outside from the back door and meet Namjoon inside their café.

"Barista suits you but never thought you'll really gonna take it." Namjoon greets him. "I just wanted to try out my interests first," Jin sheepishly grins. "It was nice to serve other people with coffee, it became such a tiny dream and I was told by my previous employer I made great caramel macchiato," he teased. His previous employer just sits and blushes in front of him, which Jin finds it so endearing. "The employer told you a truth then," Namjoon states, focusing on his japchae "You should eat too, I ordered another set of japchae, dumplings, and your favorite cake for a reason."

Snapping his chopsticks "Man, I do feel so lucky," It is still like what they used to. They are still the same as those people teased as ‘Power Couple' because of their amazing work tandem and undeniable chemistry, the part where Seokjin agrees whole-heartedly because he felt it too.

There are times where Namjoon just goes to his room to check up on him, or maybe sit and to talk to him about random things, or on free times he just gonna invite him to watch a series or movie with him or let him listen to his unpublished tracks as if they weren't really that busy.

There are also time where Seokjin found himself on Namjoon's office's couch just to work even is he wasn't asked to assist, cook for two persons, made him coffee, talk to Namjoon comfortably about anything, and invite his boss (yep, he can do it) to watch animated films with him.

All of these were confirmed when Seokjin slept on his desk only to woke up with Namjoon's thick scarf on his shoulder and they weren't awarded as ‘The Couple of the Night' for nothing.

"Don't get me wrong, Mr. Kim Seokjin. I'm still angry at you."

Seokjin could only look at him with fondness "But Mr. Kim Namjoon, Sir, I texted you."

"You didn't-"

"I messaged you from another number since you told me to only text you related from work." Seokjin blushes.

Namjoon's face turned dusted with a darker shade of red maybe from embarrassment or anger or both "So that was you!" Namjoon exclaimed earning a few looks from the other people inside the café. He lowered his voice "You know I never respond to an unknown number not unless they introduced themselves," he breathes deeply "And I only meant it when you were still my assistant."

They both laugh until Seokjin notices the papers inside Namjoon's paper bag and his messenger bag is bulging. "I can help you with that," he points them to which Namjoon only replied "No need," "I don't think so," Seokjin knows he already took too much of Namjoon's time and Namjoon needs some assistance and continues "It's Thursday, a day where you usually polish some tracks and judging from the amount and color of the papers, it seemed they are due tomorrow." he insists "So allow me to help you." Seokjin finishes.

While the offer is very tempting, which is highly expected from Seokjin, he won't let him. Namjoon only sighs "I don't have extra cash to pay for your services,"

Seokjin pouts "Take it as a help from a friend-"

Namjoon hisses "I still refuse to be friends with you Kim Seokjin, I'm still angry."

"Fine. Then you can pay me by letting me text you with my number as an ‘acquaintance'," he huffs cheeks tinted with the darker shade of tomato "Feed you sometimes with homemade food, or let me take you somewhere."

Namjoon equally red-faced because it seems like he was asked by his crush making his heart go running, he better calm himself, he's not easy "W-what? No."

"Even if I'm going to make caramel macchiato and bibimbap for you?"

Namjoon paused.

Damn.

"Are you sure?" Seokjin smirk, he knows this is a nice offer.

Namjoon leans forward "Okay, I will let you assist me," Seokjin cheers loudly at his answer "But I will be the first one who'll take you somewhere, feed you, and text you."

"Sure," Seokjin beams happily as he shoved another dumpling on his mouth.

They left, took the same train with full stomach, smiles, and hearts.

Finally.

FIN
