Chapter 1: Noisy Corridors

Chapter Text

There was shouting coming from outside her flat, followed by a heavy thumping.

Are they seriously shouting at each other again? Uraraka thought to herself as she checked her phone. It was 3 AM and her flatmate needed to stop getting into arguments with flat 3.1.

She couldn't even tell what they were arguing about - something about attitude, not that she cared. She heard Midoriya open the door, but that didn't stop the yelling. Except that now they were shouting through the open door. She threw back the covers and grabbed her keys, throwing open her door to see the argument in full swing. Midoriya heard her door open and turned to see her marching towards them.

"Uraraka I-" He started, but Uraraka refused to let him finish.

"Oh no," she spoke as she marched towards them. "You've woken up this entire flat, and now you're gonna stand in the doorway?" She squared up to Midoriya, a twenty-year-old who was built like a brick shit-house. He had scars down both arms. "You two do this every-fucking-week without fail and then pretend as if nothing has happened?" Midoriya looked sheepish. And slightly drunk.

"If it's every fucking week then get some earplugs." The other man stated. He seemed extremely drunk.

Uraraka had seen him around campus. Bakugou Katsuki, who took Art and Design. He was the golden boy who excelled in everything he did - his paintings were hung all over the University, all the girls spoke about how handsome he was, all the boys talked about how he could bench press a girl on each arm

He was a God among men with a temper to match.

And he was keeping her awake.

"It shouldn't be fucking happening." She growled at him. He raised an eyebrow in surprise at her ferocity and smiled.

"Well maybe," He spoke low and leaned down to her level, causing her anger to go through the roof. "You should mind your own fucking business.

Uraraka threw a punch so hard that she floored him.

Everyone from her flat had come out to watch the conversation, and at her punch, Iida exclaimed and ran to stop the fight. The door to the other flat opened up as well, and a redhead came out.

He saw Bakugou laid out on the floor, drunkenly trying to get himself off the floor. He then saw Iida trying to hold Uraraka back from hitting him again. His face split into a grin and he yelled into his apartment.

"Guys! Bakugou got decked by a fucking girl!" The sound of doors opening and running feet was heard from the apartment.

A man with yellow hair popped his head out from behind the redhead and immediately started laughing. A boy with black hair came out and joined him, followed by a girl with pink hair. Uraraka felt very tired and headed back inside to bed, allowing Bakugou's flatmates to pick him up and sort him out.

Her knuckle hurt like a bitch. She ran it under the cold water, and hissed as it rushed over the bruised knuckles. It looked pretty bad, but there wasn't anything she could do about a bruise.

She went to head out when there was a knock at the door. She opened it, assuming it was the postman when instead she found the redhead from the night before.

"Hey!" He said. His hair was gelled upwards and he was wearing a red tank top and black skinny jeans. "I'm Kirishima Ejiro and the man you punched last night was-"

"Bakugou Katsuki." She interrupted. "Yeah, I'm aware." She smiled at Kirishima. "I'm sorry I punched him."

"Oh no," Kirishima said. "He probably had it coming. But I wanted to ask for your name?" He laughed a little. "Bakugou was very drunk last night and when we were making sure you hadn't broken his nose he kept asking about you. So I came over so I could tell him about you when he woke up with a huge hangover."

"Well, I'm heading to uni right now so-"

"Great! I'll walk you!" His smile made it really hard to refuse. Uraraka nodded and he moved to let her through.

"I've heard of you," Uraraka said as she headed down the stairs. "You're Bakugou's sidekick right?" Kirishima laughed.

"A lot of people say that actually and-" he sighed. "I know that Bakugou can be a dick, but he does care. And he is a surprisingly good friend." Uraraka huffed.

"I'll take your word for it."

"Do I get a name then?"

"Uraraka Ochako." She opened the door into the cold autumnal air. "Who were your flatmates?"

"Well, the blonde one with the black streak? That's Kaminari Denki - he's studying mechanics, I think. He'll find any excuse to drink so don't get roped in." They used her key to open the metal gate, and he muttered a quick thank you as she held it open for him.

"The one with black hair, the tall one? Well, that's Sero Hanta. He's nice and kind, studying mechanics with Kaminari. The girl with pink hair is Mina Ashido. She's studying Biology and, like Kaminari, will get into any trouble she can."

They strolled down the canal and headed across the bridge. They were mostly silent, apart from talking about their flatmates.

"Iida is studying sport and English, Todoroki is studying Chemistry, Midoriya is studying English, Tsuyu is studying Biology."

"What are you studying then?"

"Astrophysics. You?"

"Fitness."  They approached the gates and Kirishima moved slightly in front of her. "Right, this is where I leave you." He reached out his hand for her to take. "We're gonna have a small get together tomorrow night if you fancy bringing your flat?"

"I'll tell you what they say."

Bakugou woke with a huge headache and a throbbing blooming from his nose all the way to his eyes. He sat up and groaned. There was a glass of water and some painkillers on his nightstand. He grabbed two pills and downed them, along with the entire glass of water.

There was a knock at his door, and he muttered a gruff 'come in'.

Kirishima stood there, sweaty from training and a look of concern mixed with amusement covered his face.

"She really did a number on you, huh?" He said smiling.

"I think that was the alcohol." He muttered, grabbing a bottle of something dark and fizzy from the floor. He took a large swig only to find out that it was coke mixed with copious amounts of rum. He coughed.

"You haven't seen the black eye then."

"The WHAT?!"

He stood up as fast as he could, ignoring his headache and checked in the mirror.

Sure enough over his right eye, a purple, blue and black bruise covering it.

"For fuck's sake." He groaned, resting his head against the cold mirror. Kirishima burst out laughing.

"OI, KAMINARI!" He shouted down the corridor. A door opened and Bakugou could hear footsteps move towards his room. He heard them muttering and he lifted his head to look at him, a scowl covering his face.

Kaminari paused and he then doubled over laughing. Bakugou ignored him and pushed past him to the kitchen. He grabbed a cup of coffee from the machine and he then drank it quickly, as it was nearly cold. He could hear the laughter echoing through the flat.

He couldn't even remember what the argument was about. He remembered her though; the shock at her standing up to him, unlike all the others that fawned on him. He wanted to know her name, what she studied, why. He'd never seen her around campus before, but she must go there, as she lived here.

Kirishima entered the kitchen behind him and grabbed some food from the fridge.

"Uraraka Ochako, if you were wondering." He took a bite of his sandwich and then gestured towards her apartment. "And I invited them all over tomorrow night."

“Why?” He sighed, draining his coffee and pressing buttons to make a fresh pot. The commotion drew in the rest of the flat to the kitchen, where they all began to chuckle till Bakugou glared at them till they stopped.

“Because I’m nice,” Kirishima grabbed his bottle of orange juice from the fridge, “and so Uraraka. Plus we need to put this feud with them to rest.”

“It’s not a feud-” Bakugou started.

“You argue with Midoriya once a week, it’s a feud.” Kaminari butted in.

“Shut up, Dunce-face.” Kaminari stuck his tongue out in response.

“To be fair though,” Mina started, “you two have known each other your whole lives, right? It makes sense that you argue a lot.”

Bakugou couldn’t be bothered arguing, he just needed more coffee. They continued their conversation behind him, but Bakugou ignored them. He was dreading tomorrow already, and he hadn’t even sobered up yet. The coffee finished and Bakugou poured himself a mug. He turned around to see expecting faces looking to him for an answer.

“What?” He asked scowling.

“I told you he wasn’t listening,” Sero said, getting himself a coffee as well. “Mina asked you a question, buddy.”

“What do you want, weirdo?”

“First: rude. Second: I never knew you were into girls that could floor you, Bakugou.”

“I’m not .”

“I mean…” Kirishima started, “you were saying how cool she was last night, bro.”

“Fuck off, Shitty-hair.”

Bakugou headed back to his room and slammed the door behind him. He had to find a way to hide his black eye before tomorrow.
