Fleeting

Summary:

Have a short fluff blurb about Josuke and Oldseph.

Happy Thanksgiving...? I guess?

Chapter Text

"Mr. Joestaaaaar!" He lost his old, senile dad. This was terrible. He already sucked at finding people, but finding old people? They had no sense of restraint! They could fall down a well and either climb out or just silently accept their fate! He sprinted through the park, looking around frantically. He had asked everyone in the park if they had seen an old English man, with varying degrees of success. Mainly a 'iunno, probably'. He ran around for another while, and considered calling Okuyasu and Koichi. Koichi's stand had a better range, maybe he could--

Josuke paused, looking at one of the hills over in the distance.

A figure sat at the top of the hill. Legs crossed, cane set firmly in his lap. His eyes were tired, plaintive as he stared down at some unknown object. Every so often a shaky hand would rise, and then fall, and then repeat all over again. Josuke slowed his pace, jogging up the hill and next to his father. He slowed down as he approached the older man's back, listening to his soft ramblings.

"Ah… I almost had you that time..." Another shaky hand rose up, and the teen squinted to fully identify the floating object.

A... bubble? He had lost the old man over some bubbles?

He wandered up beside Joseph, sitting down and getting a full view of the situation. It was the park, like always, and a kid had been playing with bubbles. Blowing them into the air and watching them float away. At some point the kid must have seen Joseph enjoying them, because he had started blowing them more in the older man's direction.

Josuke cleared his throat. "Hey. Everyone was, uh, worried. You can't walk off like that."

Joseph sighed. "You keep floating away..." His eyes glazed over, before Josuke cleared his throat again. The older man quickly craned his neck towards his son, before chuckling. "Oh, Josuke… how long were you here? Don't you have school?" He wrapped a hand around the cane, shaking his head. "Damn kids... well, I wasn't much of a studier either." A brief laugh, which turned into a short coughing fit.

The delinquents lips pursed, not entirely sure how to feel about that. Sure, he wasn't a genius, but he didn't skip school. Much. "No, school just got out. I got a call from Jotaro..."

Joseph chuckled. "Whoops... didn't realize I needed babysitting. I used to babysit Jotaro when he was in diapers." He smiled, fingers tapping the edge of the cane. "...Did you know how expensive diapers have gotten...? Holly had called me on the telephone, and we were talking about that baby..."

"So, what are you doing up here?" Josuke intervened, quickly.

"Ah... well, I wanted some fresh air, and then... ah, there's another one... did I ever tell you about when I fought a sex-god?"

Josuke looked... mortified. Intrigued, but mortified. "Uh, let's talk about it as we walk. Okay?" He pushed himself up to his feet, reaching out towards Joseph. A moment passed, before the old man got the hint and took Josuke's hand, pulling himself up to his feet slowly before the two of them began to walk off, Joseph beginning his obviously falsified bizarre tales of grandeur and excitement.

"...And he couldn't sit in a damn chair right... loved pasta though... I think. He was Italian... that means he loved pasta, right?"

"Sure, old man..."
