Summary:

Shigaraki Week Day 6: Prompt- AU

Harry Potter AU

Notes:

I always assign my fandom faves quidditch positions so here ya go.

Also I bet the brooms on these teams are amazing because you have rich boys dabi, shouto, iida, and tomura. firebolts for everyone.

Edit (October 2020): Just here to say a big fuck you to J.K. Rowling. I thought for a long time about just taking this story down because I hate her so much and thinking about Harry Potter just hurts so badly but I've decided to leave it. I like the story. I like quidditch. I'll never read the series again but you know...sentiment. So please enjoy the fic but also do all us trans and GNC folks a favor and don't support official Potter merch or books or movies. Or any of her other books which are not good I really don't recommend them anyway. Keep your Harry needs in the fandom and if you need Hogwarts stuff support fan artists and creators when you buy.

Work Text:

The score was 60-50 to Slytherin but the Gryffindor team wasn't about to take that lightly. Hizashi, a Gryffindor himself, was screaming into his commentator's mic as Slytherin chaser, Toga, raced away after scoring her 10 points off Gryffindor keeper, Kirishima.

Tomura glided high about the pitch on his broom, his eyes darting all over the place, looking for a hint of gold. They had been playing forever. This was the Quidditch Cup Final, the best teams of the year, and they were certainly showing that. Both teams had very tight defenses and that made it difficult for the chasers to score. Tomura needed to end this now, everyone was exhausted and since the score was so close that meant no one could back down.

He looked over the pitch, taking in the teams. Gryffindor was in possession of the Quaffle, specifically their captain Iida had it, Tomura wrinkled his nose. Iida was fast and strong, it wasn't that he didn't have faith in Kurogiri, the Slytherin keeper who was probably the best keeper in the school, but he knew Iida could be a challenge.

He heard a whistling on his left and quickly barrel rolled to avoid contact with a bludger.

"Fuck you, you crusty bastard!" he heard Bakugo yell in frustration. Tomura just wiggled his fingers at him. Bakugo was a good beater, maybe a little too good, but Tomura had been flying since he was a toddler and had plenty of tricks up his sleeve. He darted off, making a beeline for Iida who was quickly approaching Kurogiri. Tomura sent a quick thank you to his adoptive dad for his Firebolt Supreme which gave him the speed to overtake Iida and cut in front of him, making him pull up short and drop the quaffle to where Dabi, another Slytherin Chaser, had flown low to catch it. He heard Hizashi calling for a foul but Tomura hadn't touched Iida or caused a collision so the game continued.

Tomura flew off as he saw Toga and Sako come in to guard Dabi as he raced up the field toward Kirishima. Shoji, the other Gryffindor beater, sent a bludger at Dabi from behind but Magne, a Slytherin beater who REFUSED to be known by her dead name, descended from above in the nick of time to fend it off. The crowd of green in the stands screamed in indignation at the attack from behind but again, Magne had caught it, there was no foul, play continued and Jin, Slytherin's second beater, sent the other bludger at Shoji as payback.

Tomura went high as the others battled on. His eyes went to the Gryffindor seeker, Midoriya, who was frantically circling at this height as well, just as desperate as Tomura to end the match.

"You know I'm going to outrun you on that Cleansweep, right?" Tomura taunted, flying up next to the fifth year. The whole Gryffindor team was young, had been for a few years. The Slytherin team had a more diverse age population. Kurogiri and Sako were seventh years, Tomura, Dabi, and Magne were sixth years, Jin was a fifth year, and Toga was the baby in her third year.

"It doesn't matter how fast you are if you're running your mouth and don't see the snitch." Midoriya shot back.

"You're not usually so nasty, Midoriya, are you getting anxious or..." Tomura was cut off by the majority of the stands, the ones in red, screaming. His head whipped around to see that Gryffindor's top scorer Todoroki had just put one past Kurogiri and the score was tied.

"Son of a bitch." He sighed.

"Who's anxious now?" Midoriya asked with a huge grin.

"Shut up." Tomura snapped. "Kirishima is falling off his broom, we'll get it back." he glanced back at the action. Sako had the quaffle and was showing off his superior reflexes as he artfully dodged the players, taking the most crowded route to the goal posts to throw everyone off. It usually worked pretty well for him, until Tomura saw a streak headed toward him.

"SAKO!" he yelled, even though he was too high up and he saw the two players collide and Sako drop the quaffle in an effort to hold onto his broom. A whistle screeched over the pitch.

"Blatching!" the ref called out, her voice magically magnified. "Penalty to Slytherin." The Slytherin supporters cheered and Tomura saw Iida yelling at Bakugo for deliberately trying to knock Sako out of the air. Say what you will about Iida, Tomura thought, but he was all about sportsmanship. Tomura abandoned Midoriya and flew down to check on Sako.

"Are you alright?" He asked as he pulled up next to him. He was sporting a bloody nose.

"I'm fine, captain." He said, waving the hand that wasn't pinching his nose. "Bakugo is losing it if he's intentionally fouling us."

"You going to make the shot with that?" Tomura asked, gesturing to his nose.

"Oh, I'm going to make the shot," Sako said grinning, the blood running into his teeth made him look crazy. Tomura laughed and clapped him on the shoulder.

"Good, I'll try and end this after."

"We're counting on you!" Sako called as Tomura flew back to let him get into position to take his penalty.

It was hard to Tomura not to watch Sako take his penalty but the snitch was in play at all times so he had to go back to his search because he knew Midoriya wouldn't let up just to watch a penalty. But the cheer of the wall of green and the disappointed voice of Hizashi let him know his teammate had been successful. They were in the lead again.

It just kept going on. Tokoyami scored twice in a row for Gryffindor only to have Dabi take the quaffle back and outfly his little brother to score for Slytherin. The score was too close. The teams were too good. It came down to the seekers and the snitch was just not appearing.

Suddenly, Tomura saw it glinting over the Gryffindor scoring area. He glanced to his left where Midoriya was patrolling above him, he hadn't seen it yet, but Midoriya was closer than he was. Tomura was faster but Midoriya would get there first. In a split second, he made his decision. Midoriya was a talented flyer but this was his first year as a starter and, while Midoriya was a very analytical person, he was also very reactive. Tomura dived, he knew Midoriya would follow him.

Tomura hurtled toward the ground on the Gryffindor side, glancing back just long enough to make sure the younger seeker was tailing him, he was, fantastic. He didn't pull up until the last possible second, if the wind hadn't been rushing his ears he would have heard Hizashi's panicked voice yelling about how they were going to crash. But Tomura was the Slytherin captain, the best flyer on his team with the most advanced broom available. If he couldn't execute a proper Wronski Feint then what kind of seeker was he? He pulled up on a dime with pinpoint accuracy thanks to years of training and his superior broom. Midoriya crashed into the ground behind him, unable to right himself with his Cleensweep. Tomura zipped up in a blur toward the tiny glint of gold and his long fingers wrapped soundly around the tiny ball.

Confusion reigned. Hizashi was calling for a penalty, not realizing Tomura had caught the snitch. Iida and Todoroki were diving to see if Midoriya was okay. Bakugo roared and raced toward Tomura who simply sat on his broom and held up the ball struggling against his hand, making Bakugo stop. The match was over. He'd get detention for knocking Tomura out of the air now.

The Slytherin supporters were screaming as Hizashi tried to figure out what had happened. The Slytherin team were all careening toward their captain, shouting excitedly. Dabi reached him first, crashing into him and pulling him into a bear hug to keep him in the air. The rest of the team flew up and they all drifted in a happy pile of yelling, slapping, and hugging to the ground.

As they got off their brooms Tomura extracted himself from the mess to go check on Midoriya. He seemed okay, a little dazed but okay. Todoroki stepped in front of the seeker as Tomura walked up.

"If you're here to gloat at him just go away." He said harshly, crossing his arms. Tomura rolled his eyes at him.

"I'm not an asshole I wanted to make sure he was okay." He said.

"I'm okay Shigaraki," Midoriya said from where he was sitting on the ground. "Just disappointed in myself." Todoroki glared at Tomura when he said this.

"You shouldn't be," Tomura said. "You've got great reflexes and good instincts. It's your first year on the team and you got Gryffindor to the finals. You should be proud of yourself. Take what you learned and beat us next year." Midoriya looked up at him looking like he might cry. Todoroki stepped in and pushed Tomura back.

"Go away. And tell my brother I don't want to see his face for a week." he huffed.

"And I thought Bakugo was competitive." Tomura rolled his eyes but he turned to go. "Don't beat yourselves up." He said waving and then walking back to his team.

There was a party in the Slytherin common room that night. The middle Todoroki brother, Natsuo, had procured a keg of the extra sweet butterbeer from the Three Broomsticks and Taishiro, who was always sneaking into the kitchens and was friends with the house-elves, had brought as much food as they needed.

The team was loving it, basking in the glory, with this win they would also be in the lead for the House Cup, it was a good year for Slytherin house. Tomura lifted the Quidditch Cup high above his head amidst cheers and Sako pulled it out of his hands and kissed it like the dramatic bastard he was. Toga was riding on Dabi's shoulders, telling anyone who would listen about her favorite sneak attacks. Jin and Magne were surrounded by girls lavishing them with compliments about how strong they were, Jin was embarrassed but Magne was eating it up. Kurogiri, always the quiet one, was sipping his butterbeer and watching everyone with a dopey smile at Tomura's side. And Tomura, well...

Tomura felt invincible with his team at his back.
