Summary:
My hands tremble, and I clench them into shaking fists as my wrists and ankles begin to burn. I ignore the pain and concentrate hard.
He's frozen seven, maybe eight metres away, but it feels like miles and miles away. I drag my feet towards him, my skin burning and every cell of my body screaming in protest. The absence of my heartbeat in my ear would be disconcerting if I wasn't so used to this.
I pull myself forward, breath escaping in puffs of cloudy air. The battle around me is so still I feel as though I am the only one left alive here.
I come to a quiet stop before him. I keep my hold for just one more moment, reaching out and gently placing a ghost of a kiss on his lips.
"Peppermint Prince... I let you go."
