Oh, that’s wonderful! I know how much you always wanted to go when you were younger - of course you can go! Here, I think I attached the right documentation? I’m not very good with this kind of thing. Have a good time, Izuku! Oh, and don’t forget to make sure you get your homework done!
Love,
Mom

Hey everybody! I’ll be at Hero Con this year! I’m really looking forward to my first Hero Con. I hope I’ll meet some of you there! Plus Ultra!

Is this for Real‽ This Hero Con is going to be the best! I mean, it was already going to be the best because Class 2-A is going, but now one of my favorite creators is going! Best news ever!

A Defense of All Might’s Recent Actions
Ok, I’ve been getting a lot of questions about why I think it was ok that the general public didn’t know about tiny!Might. So it’s probably time to address that. I don’t know why I have to address this, since @TheHeroOtaku already did, but I will since I keep getting asked about it.
It’s not that I think what he did was necessarily right. But go back to before he was injured — he used that form as a means of being normal, something perfectly normal in heroes. Many have very public personas, but many do not, and both is fine. Heroes are not celebrities in the same way movie stars and such are. If they desire privacy, that is their right.
Now, yes, concealing an injury and continuing to fight was dangerous. But what people seem to keep forgetting is why he did it. All Might made it very clear that the reason he kept fighting wasn’t because he wanted to be the hero out of some selfish need, but because he knew his role in society as the Symbol of Peace. All of you benefited from how he protected us, emotionally and mentally, from his crisis. And he’s not the first hero to do this. I mean, granted, those heroes weren’t quite as famous and popular as All Might, but the same idea stands.
The other thing is All Might wasn’t ignoring his injury. He knew he had to be careful. Recovery Girl has gone on record to say that she and a board of other medical professionals were monitoring his health. He was fighting while heavily injured, yes, but she explicitly said that they cleared him for hero work in the short term future. In the short term future. This was never the end goal. All heroes retire. This was a means for him to continue to promote the future of heroics, which he is also doing as a teacher at UA.
We didn’t need to know because this wasn’t a spur of the moment “macho” action. It was a calculated way for him to continue to push heroics forward and to continue to hold society together as the Symbol of Peace. It was deceptive, but it was a deception that kept us safe by making the villains believe he was just as strong as ever. In truth, this is not a national risk that he didn’t make the public aware, its a national risk because the villains know he isn’t now. He was keeping us safe. Ignorance can be a method of protection too.
Us knowing now puts us in danger. That’s a legitimate reason to not tell us. Heroes can’t just disclose everything to the general public — for the same reason Underground Heroes deserve their privacy and we have to let raids be conducted secretly. All Might is still a hero and he’s still my hero. This secret doesn’t change that.

Drawing Day 128: Tiny!Might
[Image: It’s a drawing of All Might in his skinny form, wearing his Prime Hero costume loosely (with its blue and magenta cape as well as his grey knee armor hanging off him slightly). He’s smiling at the viewer, with his thumbs up in a classic All Might pose.]
Tiny!Might needs more love! He’s still a hero to me, so I drew him as one. I’m going to go see his panel at Hero Con this year!

Ochaco watched Deku pace around his room. His hair was puffed up more than usual, in that way that always indicated he was stressed but his eyes gleamed with slightly manic excitement. He was muttering to himself. Ochaco picked up a few phrases, such as “cosplay”, something-“Otaku” and “All Might” but she missed the sentences he was saying. When he created a mumble storm, one of his defining traits, that was to be expected though.
“Deku!” She finally cut in, bouncing up from her seat on his bed. Iida had been with them earlier, but he had run off for a bit, so that had left them totally platonically hanging out. Totally. But she ignored that because someone had to stop the mumble storm or it would continue all night. And cute as that sounded, she was curious as to what he was planning.
After a few seconds, he responded. “Yeah?” And she has to take a few minutes to compose a response because that expression made her brain short circuit.
“What are you planning?” She asked. Probably could have less blunt, but curiosity won out.
“Something for Hero Con! It’s my first time going, so I want to make it extra special! There’s a hero I want to cosplay as, but…” he trailed off awkwardly. He looked kind of worried.
Ochaco grinned. While she wasn’t a hero otaku like Deku, she knew her fair bit about the legendary Hero Con and knew it promised to be quite the show. “But what? Let’s do it! Plus Utra style!”
Deku nodded, worry vanishing slowly. “Sure. Plus Ultra Style! Just, let me call someone first. I think I should ask for permission.” He grabbed his phone and dialed someone. Ochaco pulled out her phone to look up Hero Con for the umpteenth time. She wanted to try and give Deku some bit of privacy. Plus, she still didn’t believe she was going to Hero Con, even if she was footing the bill herself thanks to her latest work study program. Besides, one day of fun with everyone would always be worth the discounted ticket price. She couldn't not go.
She picked up bits of the conversation, something about “night” and “All Might”. She tried to ignore it, since privacy and all. Still, she could tell he probably called All Might. She couldn't guess the reason. Maybe he wants to cosplay as All Might? It would make sense. He will always be the biggest fan of All Might, retirement or not. Sure enough, a few minutes later, she heard All Might’s trademark laugh, which confirmed her suspicions. And then, before she knew it, Deku finished his conversation.
“So?” She asked. His expression made it look like whatever he had heard was good news, but she wasn’t entirely sure.
Deku grinned. “I know exactly who I’m going to cosplay as! It will even be pretty easy! Which is good because Hero Con is only two days away!” Pretty easy? So it was probably not All Might then. Right? Oh well, she’d probably find out soon enough. Especially if she helped him. Speaking of which…
“Alright! Can I help?” Ochaco asked. She may or may not have finished her homework early specifically to help Deku. But really, who could say no to him?
Deku nodded rapidly. “Sure! Er, i-if you want to that is, I know you get busy and I don’t want to be a bother and…” And suddenly he’s descending into mumbling again.
“I’d love to!” Ochaco smiled. This was going to be so much fun! She could totally spend hours alone. With Deku. Her platonic friend Deku. Right?

UA’s Class 2-A: The Rising Stars
Shimizu Tomomi, Heroics Reporter for Musutafa Gazette
[Image: A group picture of Class 2-A, standing in front of their dorm, in more or less three rows. They are all dressed in varying levels of casual attire. Most of them are smiling at the camera.
In front of the first row, Aoyama lays sideways with his ever present sparkly sunglasses. On the far left, Ashido stands in the first row, just in front of Kirishima, Kaminari and Bakugo, all of whom straddle the nebulous line between the second and third row on that side of the picture. Bakugo appears to be trying to get out of Kirishima’s hold of his shoulders, though careful observation shows he’s not trying that hard.
The middle is occupied by Midoriya and Uraraka in the first row, with Iida carrying Sero via piggy-back in the third row. Todoroki awkwardly hovers next to Iida, straddling the line between the second and third rows towards the right side. Momo stands in front of him in the first row, with Asui crouching next to her like a frog. Behind them stands Sato and Shoji in the second row, the latter of which is holding up Jiro on his left arms and Haguakure on his right arms.
Ojiro stands in front of Shoji’s massive frame in the first row. Tokoyami stands in the second row just behind and to the right of Ojirio, while Koda has slipped back behind him in roughly the third row. Shinso is just in frame, furthest on the right, though he does not stand too far away from the rest of the class. All together, the picture seems to have to caught the class in a moment of planned spontaneity and there’s evidence that, given more time, they would be in a completely different configuration.]
UA High School is perhaps one of the most, if not the most, famous Heroics Preparatory School. It’s known for its famous alumni, including the ever famous All Might, as well as notables Gang Orca, Endeavor, Ectoplasm and even up and coming heroes like Kamui Woods. With such famous alumnus, not including the multitude of heroes that simply couldn’t be recounted without turning this whole article into a list of heroes, the fame of UA is neither surprising nor unwarranted. Other schools may often make the valid argument that UA gets all the attention, but UA has won that attention rightfully.
Still, most heroic classes, UA’s included, usually pass under the radar until the end of their second year or, more likely, their third year. That’s because third year is the usual time for students to gain prestigious work study opportunities and get the coveted provisional license. But UA’s Class 2-A (formerly Class 1-A) is breaking all the molds. Of course, no one can forget the attack on UA’s Unforeseen Simulation Joint (USF) Facility which was the first known sighting of the League of Villains, though we only learned the details a few months ago. Still, with the knowledge that these kids had fought in a real villain attack, we knew their first Sport’s Festival was going to be explosive.
No one could have predicted how explosive, though. From the first race where the winner won without the use of any quirk, a new record at a UA Festival, to the calvary battle being fought right up to the last second, it was clear this group of students was different. That was cemented by the one-on-one battles, each of which were explosive and powerful. It was such a close race that there were many claiming that if things had gone slightly differently that day, an entirely different set of kids could have been on that podium.
Then the Summer Camp happened. No one could have expected the kidnapping of a UA student by the League of Villains, nor the explosive showdown at Kamino Ward that led to All Might’s retirement. Still, we recently got word that things did not calm down for Class 2-A after that, as they enrolled in the Provisional License Exam. And that was only their first year! From there, it seems things keep happening for Class 2-A. With all the attention that’s been put on them, we thought it only fair that we refresh your memory on some of heroics brightest rising stars.
First up is the one who’s had his Hero name recently revealed: Ground Zero (aka Katsuki Bakugo)! He’s the one who came first in the Sport’s Festival though he is also rumored to be the one who got captured by the League of Villains. Known for his explosive temper, he is pictured in the far left, being held by one of classmates.
Next is the new number one’s son, Shoto Todoroki! He’s the one who made an icy entrance to the Sport’s Festival during the race as well as the giant ice structure that had him demolishing his competition! He’s in the center of the picture, and easy to notice with his distinctive red and white hair.
Deku (aka Izuku Midoriya) is up next — he’s the one in the center with green hair next to the girl with brown hair (and we’ll get to her in a second). This boy has already done some crazy stuff. He’s most famous for winning the opening race at the Sport’s Festival without using his quirk and for his fight with Shoto Todoroki in which he broke his own fingers to win. Many people speculate that he could have won that matchup, but that something prevented him. Whatever the case, this boy is incredibly powerful.
Igenium (aka Tenya Iida) also deserves a mention for carrying on a legacy name and for being Class President. He is the one behind Deku. Other notable mentions include Red Riot (aka Eijiro Kirishima), the boy holding Ground Zero in the picture, Tail-man (aka Mashirao Ojiro), the one with a tail and the often overlooked Cellophane (aka Hanta Sero), the one on Ingenium’s shoulders.
And of course, where would Class 2-A be without its wonderful ladies? Most impressive is Uravity (aka Ochaco Uraraka), who faced off against Ground Zero in the Sport Festival One-on-One battles and displayed an impressive use of environment, even though she lost. We don’t know a lot about her yet, but she will definitely be one to watch!
Then there is Creati, otherwise known as Momo Yaoyorozu. Not only is this girl Class Vice President, but she is also played a role in helping the pro-heroes locate the villains during the Kamino Ward Incident. She was eliminated fairly early during the One-on-One battles, but that doesn’t mean we won’t see more of her soon!
The rest of the girls of Class 2-A have not made quite as large of an impact, but time will only tell. From the number of hard-hitting, nearly-pros already in this group that we know of, they are more than likely just as strong as their relatively more famous peers. Class 2-A of UA has clearly show itself to be a leap ahead of any of its rivals, currently or when compared to previous years. Keep an eye out for these kids, especially at Hero Con, because they are going places!
Snipe was pretty proud of his ability to control a class’ attention. He had rightly earned a reputation as the teacher everyone wanted to impress. Of course, he couldn’t claim all the credit for their attention. Part of it boiled down to subject matter — he taught Heroic Techniques, a second year class focused on refining special techniques and expanding heroic powers. To say that no one wanted to miss his instruction would be an understatement.
But he still had to admit he’d probably met his match in Class 2-A. Those kids took Plus Ultra to a whole new level. There were the obvious outspoken ones, like Bakugo and Ashido, but also some more unexpected ones, such as Uraraka and Kirishima. But all of them were all very passionate about heroics, and it showed in the way they reacted to his teaching.
Oh there were quiet ones as well, no class was complete without any, but Koda and Shinso were the exception rather than the rule. The much welcomed exception.
Still, Snipe was pretty good at wrangling students at this point. He still usually managed to keep what was soon becoming UA’s most famous class in line. Which was good, because Heroics Techniques was no joke — it was a strenuous class even when it hadn’t been compressed into one semester. He had protested the motion to compress his class, but couldn’t deny its potential necessity. These poor kids could be thrust right into danger at any moment. They attracted danger like no class before them had. Who knew if they would made it to graduation?
At the very least, it was looking more and more likely their third year would include a significant amount of hands on experience. With that in mind, Principle Nedzu had decided their education would have to be compressed.
They handled it well, all things considered. The stress had pushed them closer together though Snipe knew that was also due to shared trauma. Somehow they managed to be cheerful and bright in spite of everything that had happened to them. And loud. They really were a rowdy class.
Hero Con had managed to make said rowdiness worse. Oh, they were still a great example of resilience in the face of adversity, and he knew they deserved the break. But really, this was ridiculous. The sheer amount of times they were interrupting his teaching was getting absurd.
“Katsuki Bakugo, sit back down and stop threatening your fellow classmates! Uraraka Ochaco, stop poking to Midoriya! Kaminari Denki, you’d better not be using your quirk to shock Ashido! Hagakure Toru, being invisible does not mean I cannot hear you whispering!” Snipe grunted. It was near the end of period, and with only one day until Hero Con, Class 2-A was even more fired up than usual. He sighed, before turning back to his lecture.
“Now, as I was saying, a mobile rescue action should be fairly familiar—” Snipe stopped, internally groaning when he saw Kirishima hand quietly held up. “Yes, Kirishima?”
“Snipe-sensei, can I get a drink?” Kirishima asked.
He wanted to groan really badly right now, but that would be unprofessional. “Yes, Kirishima. Go. Now, as I was saying…” It was going to be a long semester. He could only hope Hero Con would cool their excitement a bit.
Yeah. Because that was likely.
All Might to Speak at Hero Con
Kinnosuke Kamoto, Reporter for Hero Gawker
[Image: Half of the image is All Might in his buffed out form in his Golden Age Costume. It’s a picture from the day he debuted the changed costume and his eyes are still visible in the photo. The other half is a more blurry photo of All Might’s true form after the Kamino Incident. He looks worn, but still victorious.]
Who wasn’t surprised by the revelations caused by Kamino Incident this last summer? It was a shock that radiated out into the last year of heroics — from his subsequent retirement to Endeavor’s placement as the number one hero. Everybody knows about it now.
But we have exclusive insider information that confirms what fans of All Might have wanted for a long time now. All Might will be speaking at Hero Con this year! The notoriously camera shy hero will be appearing to answer fan’s questions for the first time ever. This is big news because All Might has avoided questions from anyone since the beginning of his career. Questions like his name and his quirk have always been avoided. Now, for the first time, he’s opening up to the public.
Now, due to Hero Con’s policy, reporters aren’t allowed to attend the Con in a professional capacity. Nonetheless, expect a lot of eyes to be put on that stage because this is not a common occurrence by any means. We can only hope this new transparency extends to interviews as well. It would be no exaggeration to say that the entire world wants to know more about All Might.
Regardless, this reporter feels optimistic about a new level of transparency from All Might. Answers are coming, one way or another.
[Image: It is an ensemble picture of a bunch of heroes. All Might stands proud at the front, with Best Jeanist and Hawks behind him, to the right and left respectively. Behind them stands an array of other pro heroes, Mount Lady, Kamui Woods and Gang Orca to name a few. The silhouette of a generic city and a crowd is behind them.]
Come to Hero Con!
Three Days celebrating All the Heroes, New and Old! Come to the biggest celebration of Heroes ever!
Special Speakers include former No. 1 ALL MIGHT, Current No. 2 HAWKS, and much much more!

fanlogic, TheHeroOtaku and CandyHeartArt are made up handles. Shimizu Tomomi and Kinnosuke Kamoto are made up names.
The reason I used otaku as a non-derogatory term is because the setting of BNHA is ambiguously futuristic. I think there would be enough time between now an this ambiguous future, for the term to become less of a derogatory term, similar to how the terms geek and nerd are less derogatory than they once were.

Chapter Text
If he was honest, Eijiro didn’t really know if Katsuki would want to go to Hero Con. Bakugo, despite nominally being his friend, was kind of hard to read. Kamino Ward had established that Katsuki trusted him, but he was still impossible to predict. Sometimes it seemed like he was more of a force of nature than a person because his mood would change so often and he could lash out without any warning.
Eijirio still considered him his friend, obviously. He just, couldn’t predict him. Case in point.
“Of course I’m going, dumbass.” Katsuki said. It sounded like a typical statement from him, but Eijiro noticed Katsuki wouldn’t meet his eye. He was doing that much more now, and it really concerned Eijirio.
Not that he would raise that concern with Katsuki. He knew enough to know that wouldn’t end well. So, instead he grinned. “Cool, man! Why do you join Denki and I? We were going to travel the floor together!”
Katsuki nodded, distractedly. “Sure. Whatever.”
Eijirio didn’t really know if that was an affirmation or not, but Denki, who had snuck up behind them (poorly, Eijirio had noticed Katsuki’s hand twitching and that had given Denki away) took it as one. “Awesome!” He shouted, jumping up and down. “It will be so cool to have you with us, Bakugo!”
Katsuki started to stalk away from both Eijirio and Denki. Eijirio thought he might have nodded, but it was impossible to tell with the angle. Denki looked over at Eijirio and Eijiro saw a rare serious expression on his face. Denki, Eijirio had come to learn, could come off as an idiot, especially because he like pranks and girls perhaps a bit too much to be really manly. But that didn’t make him dumb.
“You see it too, don’t you?” Eijirio said, slowly, a little ashamed to be talking about Katsuki behind his back. That wasn’t particularly manly of him. But it was getting worse every time he saw it and he couldn’t have ignored it any longer. “He’s withdrawing into himself.”
Denki nodded, slowly. “Man, that is so not cool. He’s been like this ever since he got in trouble for fighting with Izuku. You’d think he’d be over it by now!”
“No, I think it started earlier than that. The Provisional License Exam. He didn’t pass the first time, remember?” Eijirio said, frowning. The look on Katsuki’s face then, it was something between anger and sadness. He didn’t know how to describe it. It just seemed bad.
Denki sighed. “I just thought he’d be over it by now! I mean, this is Bakugo we’re talking about!”
And Eijirio was going to respond, but Mina bounced up to them before he got the chance. “Hey slowpokes! Come on! We’re going to be late for training! Last one to Gym Beta has to buy groceries for next week!”
And well, after that, Eijirio didn’t exactly have time to worry about Katsuki. Not with is free time on the line. He would just have to be there for him and hope things worked out in time.
Somehow, that was a cold comfort.
2-A’s Group Chat (DON’T CHANGE THE NAME ANYMORE, THIS MEANS YOU KAMINARI)
-Friday 1:39 AM-
[Uka] changed their name to [ZeroG]
[froppy]: Why are you up so late, Uraraka?
[ZeroG]: oh sorry, didn’t mean to wake you, tsuyu, i’m just so excited i can’t sleep
[ShineAlways!]: ✨Someone you’re thinking about, perhaps?✨
[ZeroG]: what? no, i was thinking about the con
[ShineAlways!]: ✨Are you going with Izuku?✨
[ZeroG]: not really? we might spend some time together, but he’s going to help all might on sunday, so it’s not like we’ll be together the whole time
[froppy]: Do you like Izuku, Uraraka?
[ZeroG]: what?? he’s just my friend, i don’t think of him that way, why do you think that?
[froppy]: You seem to be trying awfully hard to justify your relationship as a friendship.
[froppy]: And you’re the only one he had help him make his costume.
[KINGEXPOLSIONMURDER]: SHUT PU ALL OF YOU! I’M TRYING TO SLEEP!
[KINGEXPOLSIONMURDER]: *UP
[ZeroG]: oh, sorry bakugo
[ZeroG]: anyways, deku’s just a friend
[KINGEXPOLSIONMURDER]: WHAT DID I JUST SAY?
Tsuyu had thought she was used to crowded. Her family wasn’t by any means poor, but they weren’t rich either. And with three kids, it was bound to be a little crowded some of the time. But this was nothing like that. The minute she had entered the convention hall, her senses had been overwhelmed. There were people everywhere, so much so that it seemed less like a mass of individual people and more of a surging ocean.
It was overwhelming. All these people had gathered because they loved heroes and wanted to celebrate that love in the only way they knew how. By meeting similar fans and sharing their excitement. With a bazar of good filled with all kinds of heroics merchandise passing hands. But the biggest thing was panels, by far. Here was a chance to see the top heroes up close and to ask questions. To analyze heroics quirks (which Deku would definitely be doing at some point, Tsuyu suspected). To be fans with other over a common passion that was often derided by outside groups as childish.
And though she was not the most enthusiastic of heroics fans, it was nice to be around people with such passion about her chosen career path. Tsuyu had wanted to be a hero for quite a while, but the reasoning had changed a bit.
Older eyes had perceived what younger eyes could not. Her parents often came back late and were weary. Three children was a burden for a solidly middle class family. They never went hungry, but it was sometimes a bit touchy. To say she wasn’t motivated at all by the money would be a lie. But she had never lost the reason she first picked heroics — to help people in need.
And she couldn’t forget. Once, she had been laughed at when she had said she wanted to be a hero. It wasn’t that she wasn’t strong enough or that her quirk wasn’t flashy enough. It was that wanting to be a hero was considered a childish dream. Everyone wants to be a hero when they were younger, but most people give that up once they began to think they weren’t suited for it. And then they told her she was naive for wanting to become a hero. For idolizing heroes. So to be among those who unabashedly loved heroes was a stark contrast in the best possible way. It was nice to be amongst people who agreed.
“Hey, Tsuyu, Ochaco. Smile!” Mina exclaimed, drawing Tsuyu back to the present. Her mind only had a few seconds to comprehend the request before the flash of Mina’s camera flashed in her face. She blinked rapidly to clear her view.
Apparently it was not enough time. “Ochaco, Tsuyu! I said smile!” Now primed to react, Tsuyu grinned. Again the camera flashed.
“Sorry, ribbit,” Tsuyu said.
“It’s not your fault!” Mina said, grinning. “I’m just so excited! I want to take pictures of everything! There’s so much exciting here!”
Ochaco groaned. “Maybe don’t take pictures of me right now? I’m a total mess.”
“Oh? Do tell me more, Ochaco!” Mina said. She was definitely looking for some gossip material.
Ochaco shrugged. “What’s there to tell? I was just helping Deku with his cosplay for Sunday.”
“Oh.” Mina said, slowly. “Is that all?”
“Yeah? What else would there be to it?” Ochaco said. She was clearly trying to deflect the topic away.
Mina smirked slightly. “Really? Because a certain text conversation would beg to differ…”
Ochaco sputtered, blushing. “I meant what I said! Deku and I are just friends!” And Tsuyu wanted to laugh because she was pretty sure most friendships didn’t involve so much awkward flirting.
So if all of this was any indication, Tsuyu was pretty sure Hero Con was going to be great.

FatgumNo1Fan commented — Yeah, that’s the inside of the Hero Con convention center! I hope I get to meet TheHeroOtaku.
StarryEyedFangirl commented — So do I, @FantgumNo1Fan, so do I. Only, slight problem does anyone know what TheHeroOtaku looks like?
FatgumNo1Fan commented — Nope! But we’re going to find him anyways!
Iida had known being in a group with Midoriya would mean lots of distractions. It was Hero Con after all, and somehow the epitome of hero fans had never been. It was inevitable that they ran off his meticulously planned schedule. He thought he had allotted for that. He knew his friends, after all. Surely they’d still get to follow his schedule a bit, right? Right?
And yet! Out of the twelve possible activities he had meticulously researched, for the morning of the first day, based on what his friends were most likely to enjoy (with a healthy dose of what he found most interesting), they had managed a grand total of zero. Zero!
It had started out innocently enough. Midoriya had decided the first thing they had to do was to go shopping for hero merch — he had forgotten how long it took to cross an inch of the floor of any convention, let alone the entire floor of the famous Hero Con as Midoriya had tried. Key word being tried because after an hour of seemingly buying everything his eyes laid upon, Midoriya was too laden down with merch to continue as he was, and everyone in the party was tired of inching along. But by that point, the group had managed to wander to the middle of the floor and so it took almost another hour to walk out, dragging Midoriya away from even more purchases the entire way.
The group had already missed four of the activities — a panel of Flame-based Quirks, a panel on newly debuted Heroes, a Heroics Photography workshop and most importantly, the welcome ceremony. But Iida had expect that, so it was fine, right? They could still go enjoy some of the other panels — there was still time.
Or rather, there was more time until Izuku decided he wanted to get some of his merch autographed. Iida had been sure somebody would have wanted to go see some of the panels instead, but when asked Sero had just shrugged and said he was there to hang out, Aoyama had said it would be a good chance to ‘ensure his perfect shine’, whatever that meant and Shinso had just sighed. Iida got the feeling he in particular wouldn’t be there if not for Sero and Izuku who were practically dragging him along.
So they missed a few (or five) more activities. That was fine, he didn’t need to see that panel on Media Coverage of Heroics anyways (in hindsight, that was probably a pretty boring panel). And missing the Cosplay Sewing workshop wasn’t really much of a loss for him. He would’ve liked to see the Panel on Legacy Families, but he’d been to similar panels in the past so it wasn’t much of a loss to him. Though admittedly the Cosplay of the Day contest and the ProHero Brawl tournament weren’t huge losses.
Iida had thought that was the end of it. Now with a decent chunk of Midoriya’s merchandise signed, surely they’d get to go to some of the activities he’d planned, right? Except that was when Aoyama had insisted they get something to eat (which was actually somewhat sound advice, though his phrasing…could’ve used work). And when Izuku agreed, Iida knew what they were doing. And so he sighed as they missed another two panels, one on Heroic debuts and one on Fictional Heroes. And they had managed to miss every single planned activity of his.
But, no matter, right? Surely the afternoon would work out better. Surely?

Notes:
Well, when one doesn't have an update schedule... I am now regretting making this thing five chapters. Oh well. I've got more to write anyways.
fanlogic, TheHeroOtaku, Uka, ZeroG, froppy, ShineAlways!, KINGEXPOLSIONMURDER, SirHeroCat, wingsandeverything, StarryEyedFangirl, ArtfulFan, HeroSpam, Stargirl, FatgumFan and Chargebolt are all made up handles, though I cannot claim credit from the ones derived from character names from BNHA.
Takeshi Arai and Haru Hosaka are my own OCs.
I hope Bakugo and Tsuyu aren't too out of character, I tried my best, but I'll freely admit they're not the easiest for me to write.
Let me know if you see any errors in formatting -- it's a bit tricky to set up and I may have messed up some of it by accident.
Thanks for waiting.

Ayato Aburaya
-Saturday 5:31 AM-
[Ayato Aburaya]: Hey, Satoru, we have a problem.
[Satoru Ouga]: it’s 5, ayato, and hero con is goin on, go back to sleep
[Satoru Ouga]: *going
[Ayato Aburaya]: Can’t. Like I said, problem. I was reviewing our inventory and we’re out of Eraserhead merch.
[Satoru Ouga]: that’s a good thing, though, means we sold it all, lots of money
[Ayato Aburaya]: No, you don’t understand. That means we have none for today. As in, if anyone wants Eraserhead merch from the number one fan booth of Eraserhead they’re out of luck.
[Satoru Ouga]: self proclaimed number one fan booth, you mean, and i told you that was too specific
[Satoru Ouga]: i mean, you didn’t think it necessary to dedicete your booth last year to a single hero, who’s also an underground hero
[Satoru Ouga]: *dedicate
[Ayato Aburaya]: Last year I didn’t know about Class 2-A. How’d you sell, like, all my stuff while I was on my bathroom break, by the way?
[Satoru Ouga]: it was pretty easy? these teen boys came by and one of them bought the whole stock? i think he said something about infuriating his father? I must have misherad that though
[Satoru Ouga]: *misheard
[Ayato Aburaya]: So you sold my entire stock to one kid‽ The one for three days‽
[Satoru Ouga]: sure, you made a lot of money off of it
[Ayato Aburaya]: Satoru, you are the worst business partner ever.
[Satoru Ouga]: we have plenty of non-eraserhead stuff, ayato, so we’ll sell that today, now go back to sleep like i’m going to
[Ayato Aburaya]: Fine, but don’t think this means I won’t make you regret this in the future.
[Satoru Ouga]: sure, fine, just go to sleep!
If there was one thing Mina was 100% certain of, it was that Deku and Ochaco would make the cutest couple ever. She’d never really thought of the pairing before, much to her chagrin, but a certain text conversation had made it pretty clear that at least Ochaco thought of Deku as more. Needling her at Hero Con had only confirmed her suspicion. She was super flustered about Deku.
The Deku side of the equation was harder to pin down. He was hardly one to display affection or interest in anyone, something she pinned down to being equal parts lack of experience and lack of interactions with girls in general. Whatever the case, Mina didn’t know. But she wouldn’t be a very good friend to Ochaco if she didn’t find out for her. Totally just for her. Totally not because the pair made so much sense in her mind now that it was literally killing her to not know whether they’d work out.
So, of course, she was delighted to learn that they’d be spending the day together on Day 2 of the con. It just seemed so perfect— the two would finally get some time together outside of school. There was no way they could talk about all the of the boring school stuff so they’d be forced to confront their feelings (hopefully anyways!).
She could only see two problems. One, they were going as a group with some of the other kids from Class 2-A. Which was about the least romantic atmosphere one could possibly get. And two was that she wouldn’t get to see the magic unfold because she couldn’t come up with a feasible reason she’d be tagging along when admittedly she tended to hang out with some other friends more often.
But, that wasn’t going to stop her! She’d just have to figure out a way to make sure those two figured out what she already knew. Getting people together, after all, was a delicate art. And she was going to need every bit of her finesse, honed after years of pushing together just about every conceivable pair she could think of back in Junior High School, to make these two come together. She had, admittedly, been a bit more forceful back in those days. Whatever happened, she would have to make sure she didn’t have a repeat of the Akagi-Mizutani Incident. Four years later and the thought of it still made her cheeks redden. To think that all that time they’d been humoring her! It still made her mad.
No matter. Mina was much better at romance nowadays. She’d make Deku and Ochaco a couple. It’d been so long since she had had a romance to properly case, but years of practice made it easier to remember. For now, she would have to continue the work she’d done yesterday, mapping out the current relationship to figure out where they’d grow. Figuring out how to steer her group into the perfect position to observe the two interacting would be hard, but she’d manage. After, it was a love case she was dealing with.
It was time to crack open the Romance Journal once more. Detective Mina was on the case.

There was really no point to Kota being at Hero Con. He didn't understand why he was there at all. Aunt Shino and her teammates had insisted he would enjoy it. But he couldn't understand why they thought that. Just because he thought Deku was a hero didn't mean he wanted to go to a convention for hero lovers.
Although he did kind of want some Deku merch. But shut up, that wasn't the same thing at all. Deku was a kick butt person. And his room ought to have a poster of such a person. Or something for his backpack. But that didn't mean he wanted to be at this stupid, boring con. Aunt Shino had offered Deku stuff. Plus she'd forced him to come. He'd never be here otherwise.
She'd also told him that after their panel he'd get to pick what they did. Which was usually fun. But she'd limited him to con activities and that had made it less fun. Just because there was one cool hero didn’t mean he suddenly liked heroes or anything. He knew they were mostly trying to make him happy. He’d resigned himself to being dragged around when he heard a familiar voice.
“I know Rock Lock said that his quirk was limited by how much he could stop at once, but I think he could probably use it for more creative tactics than how he’s using it right now. I mean, if he carried around something like marbles around, he could toss them into a large area and stop them all, which would create a pretty effective deterrent easily and it wouldn’t necessarily stop someone from being able to cross the area but it’d certainly make it harder. I guess that would probably be hard to clean up though, so maybe something that could group together when he stopped using his quirk? I wonder what happens when you hit something held in his quirk, does the momentum get transferred, or is it just held in stasis…” Deku said. If that had been Kota, he was sure Aunt Shino would’ve told him to speak up.
“Hey, UA kittens, how you enjoying Hero Con?” Aunt Tomoko said, grinning cheerfully.
Kota didn’t know all the UA kids names (not surprising, most of them were boring and there were too many of them anyways).
One of them spoke up now, moving his hands fast. “Wild, Wild Pussycats! It is good to see all of you!” Kota felt a bit irritated that he was being ignored, but found it funny how the UA student spoke.
“Aw, kitten, you don’t need to be so formal!” Aunt Ryuko said. “We’re off duty after all!”
The student bowed slightly. “My apologies! I will endeavor to be less formal in the future!”
The girl student elbowed Deku. “Hey, Deku, look, it’s your fan Kota!” And he didn’t know what to think about that, because he did think Deku was cool, but he wasn’t a fan or anything. He wasn’t like the hero fans he’d seen here anyways.
Deku snapped out of his mumbling before he could reply. “Oh, hi Kota.” He said. As if he hadn’t saved him, hadn’t fought off Muscular and vowed to save him. And he didn’t know what to say to that. How could one be cool when there were kick butt people around?

An Analysis of Edgeshot’s Quirk
This one’s pretty overdue, considering how quickly Edgeshot has been climbing the ranks. At the time of this posting, he’s number 15 on the list, but given the way he has been climbing, I think he’ll be in the top 5 in the next four years max.
Foldabody, Edgeshot’s quirk, is one of the most versatile quirks out there. While it doesn’t match All Might’s quirk in terms of raw strength, it gives Edgeshot incredible mobility. Along with the mobility, Edgeshot has used in on occasion to launch precise attacks. He often avoids using those attack due to its more lethal nature. But I think it would be possible for him to learn how to use it non-lethally, given the number of areas of the body that have exposed nerves or important veins. It would take a bit of time given that he doesn’t seem particularly well versed in anatomy as of right now, but working with Recovery Girl or similar heroes with medical experience would give him the edge there that he needs.
There is an upper limit to Edgeshot’s speed— roughly around the speed of sound from my observations. He also appears to be limited by the size he can fold down to. I would estimate that he could squeeze down to roughly one to three millimeters in all dimensions. With clever applications of his quirk, however, these limits should easily be surpassed. As far as the speed goes, that is actually one of his main strengths. He is one of the fastest heroes, surpassed only by a few heroes, such as All Might. However, that does not mean it couldn’t be exploited by a particularly bad matchup with a villain quirk. One of the main things I’ve noticed is that he seems to move in relatively straight forward motions. It’s not the most predictable, but he takes time to reach his top speed, so he tends not to turn once he’s started moving. If he learned how to maintain his speed through a tight curve, he could minimize the impact of his upper speed limit.
The size limitation is harder to mitigate. Sometimes there isn’t going to be a space he can slip through— walls for instance. He should probably start carrying some sort of device to create the gaps he needs. Explosives are probably too much for his needs in most cases. While he should carry one or two for reinforced villain bunkers, most villains tend to have hidden, rather than protected, hideouts. Therefore, a small knife would probably be enough for his needs. It would have to be pretty sharp. It would also probably need something to make sure he isn’t going to cut into anything besides the wall, but I’m sure that wouldn’t be too hard. The harder thing would be ensuring that whatever equipment he carries also folds with him. I’m not exactly sure how his uniform works, but it might be possible to use the same kind of technology.
One thing I really want to know is if he can fold into shapes beyond flat and sharp points. At the time of this posting, I haven’t seen any recorded instance of him doing so. However, heroes have been known to keep abilities secret, in case of dire emergencies. Regardless of whether or not that is the case here, it should certainly be a priority for him. I think spinning would allow him to travel straighter. He could also probably fold himself into more aerodynamic shapes. On the more stealth side, he could probably fold himself into something more innocent looking, like a sheet of paper (or origami). Though that would have its own risks.
Overall, I think his quirk definitely makes him a hero to contend with. With a few more skills under his belt, he could become an excellent stealth operative in addition to all the rest of his abilities.
—
Remember when @TheHeroOtaku used to do hero analysis? I wonder what made him stop? He was so good at it. He even (correctly!!) predicted that Edgeshot would be in the top 5 by now! Though Edgeshot did make it two years earlier than he predicted… but still! He even predicted that Edgeshot could fold himself into other shapes!

[H. Himi]: As if. You’re a second-rate who can’t play anyone besides All Might. I saw your entry games.
[D. Kaminari]: Hey, uh? You might not want to tell him that…
[H. Himi]: What? Am I going to hurt his censored feelings or something? I’m tired of opponents who think All Might is the be all and end all character!
[K. Bakugo]: Fine, censored , but you censored asked for it!
[H. Himi]: Bring it on.
[Video: On the main screen, Hoshiko Himi picks Midnight. Katsuki Bakugo hovers over All Might for a second, before picking Best Jeanist. Hoshiko Himi smirks at his choice.]
[H. Himi]: Really? You’re going to go with Best Jeanist‽ You really are an amateur.
[Video: Katsuki Bakugo doesn’t respond, but he smirks. The digital battle commences. Hoshiko Himi starts with a concentrated burst of Somnambuilist, filling her half of the battlefield with sleeping gas and obscuring her character from view. Katsuki Bakugo responds by launching fibers into the cloud.]
[H. Himi]: Really? What was that supposed to do?
[Video: Katsuki Bakugo twists the fibers, revealing that he has easily captured Hoshiko Himi’s. He twists her character off the screen, launching her off for his first KO.]
[K. Bakugo (muttered)]: censored extra.
[Video: Hoshiko Himi’s character re-spawns. Before she even has a chance to launch a single attack, Katsuki Bakugo already has her character in a web and is launching her off screen for the second time in a row. He gets another KO. Hoshiko Himi frowns in frustration.]
[H. Himi (muttered)]: I’ll get you this time…
[Video: All eyes in the room are on the screen. Hoshiko Himi’s character re-spawns once again. This time she manages to hit Katsuki Bakugo’s character with Somnambuilist, forcing his character into animated sleep. Her character grabs his and tosses him over the side. But Katsuki Bakugo manages to wake up his character in time, catching himself on the edge with one of his threads. He throws his character back up, grabs her with a thread, and throws her off the ledge for his third and final KO. ‘Game Over, Player 1 Wins!’ flashes on the screen.]
[H. Himi]: What‽ How‽
[K. Bakugo]: You censored asked for it.
[D. Kaminari]: That’s what I was trying to tell you. You never should’ve insulted All Might around Bakubro.
[K. Bakugo]: Censored Sparky! Stop censored calling me that!
Notes:
acidburn, Romance hero, ZeroG and fanlogic are made up handles, though I cannot claim the ones based upon other medias.
Ayato Aburaya, Satoru Ouga, Hoshiko Himi, Nox Owl, Professor Peculiar and Silvekaidan are my own OCs.
The Akagi-Mizutani Incident is fictional— any relationship to any actual romantic incident is completely coincidental.
InstaSnap and Yap!Tube are fictional social media, though the latter does come from BNHA. Sidenote, that's one of the weirdest things I've learned while writing this story.
Please let me know if you see any errors, spelling, grammatical or formatting.
Thanks for waiting!

TheHeroOtaku’s Identity
So if you’ve been living under a rock, TheHeroOtaku is basically the ultimate hero fan (which fits with the name). But there’s a lot we don’t know about him. I’ve written in the past about what we do know about him but there’s not a lot. We do know he’s never been to a convention before (which is crazy because that probably means he’s done most of his analysis basically by himself!!). But aside from that, there’s not much to go on. Strap in, this is going to be a long one.
I know, no doxxing and all that, but I figure there’s no harm in trying to speculate on what we do know about him. For instance— we know he was in school only a few years ago. Some speculate this means he’s still in school, but I’m of the opinion someone with as much knowledge as he has cannot still be in school. Seriously, that’s ridiculous, even for HeroOtaku levels. Some people speculate he has a mind-enhancing quirk but I just don’t think that’s the case. He seems to shy away from talking about his own quirk, which to me implies it’s something that could dox him.
Obviously, assuming he’s not in school (which seems reasonable), he has to be in some form of heroics adjacent work. Some people think he’s in heroics itself, but I don’t think so. For one thing, heroes are really busy. Even the most low ranked heroes are basically always on-call. I actually covered how despite heroics being one of the most coveted jobs, lacks the numbers it needs here.
But basically the gist of it is that the amount of dedication and training one needs to be a hero, not to mention in many cases quirk reinforcement and training, bar the average person from pursuing heroics. All this to say, while heroics is probably the most aspired for job, there’s still a shortage. Anyways, heroes are busy enough I think also maintaining one of the most prolific heroic analysis blogs is probably a bit of a stretch.
‘What about Best Jeanist?’ I hear you ask. ‘He’s a top tier Hero who runs his own fashion line, surely that more than proves you can be a Hero and do other work.’ To which I say, yes, but also no. Best Jeanist is a well documented exception to the rule— and even he doesn’t do everything by himself. He has a plethora of assistants and sidekicks. And if you compare the output of his fashion line to lead designers (who do nothing else), it quickly becomes apparent that they far outpace him.
This is not comparable to a fan blog. TheHeroOtaku is known for his word-vomit. In short, if you send him a one sentence ask, you will probably get at least three paragraphs minimum, of well thought out, well structured analysis. And while he has stepped back from as much analysis (see here for the last time he did a major analysis), he used to publish an analysis every month, usually two. On top of the three paragraphs he writes for asks.
If you read through his analysis, it’s clear he a) knows what he’s talking about and b) spends a lot of time on them. And besides the analysis, he spends lots of time writing up appreciation posts for obscure heroes and detailed reports on up and coming heroes. And he writes a lot about general heroic topics as well. Recently he’s even started following up coming hero classes (which you can see here on Fanforums).
Actually, speaking of him stepping back from analysis, that’s what inspired me to write this post in the first place. See, I think TheHeroOtaku works in support (read: his encyclopedic like knowledge on quirks). And if he works in support, maybe he realized spreading that much information about the quirks of his clientele was bad for them. There’s no law against quirk analysis of course (there’d be no way to regulate it for one). However, recent events have made it clear that knowledge about quirks (and other general information about heroes, ie. routines) can be used against heroes. Which is probably why TheHeroOtaku stopped.
Anyways, we’ll never know for sure unless TheHeroOtaku reveals himself. I, for one, would sure like to pick his brain on Class 2-A.
—
Ah! This makes total sense. Thanks, @FatgumNo1Fan. You make a really compelling point. Though I disagree about the mind-enhancing quirk. There’s no way TheHeroOtaku’s quirk isn’t related to his analysis.

Hero Con was the most amazing experience, rivaled only by perhaps the Sport’s Festival. But, Ochaco had kissed him on the cheek at Hero Con. His face burned just remembering it. The Sport’s Festival had been different anyways— more nerve inducing because he’d been expected to perform. Granted, the cosplay did make him feel pretty nervous.
He was pretty sure Sir Nighteye would have been okay with it. It seemed the only proper thing to do, given how much he owed the man. Things might’ve been rocky, but Izuku really did respect the man— he was a great hero and he had mentored Mirio-senpai as well as himself. He’d even asked All Might about it. Still, since there was no way he could ask Sir Nighteye, it made him feel a bit awkward.
But he’d push through it because that was the Plus Ultra thing to do. Sir Nighteye deserved recognition Izuku knew the Heroics fandom didn’t tend to give him. He wasn’t an underground hero, but rather an underrated one. Probably because he worked with All Might he tended to get over looked. Which made sense, but was still wrong. And well, his costume was easier to put together than any of All Might’s, much as he loved all the different designs.
Still, he was somewhat regretting wearing it today of all days. He had known All Might had wanted his help with his panel (All Might wanted his help!) but had figured it would be backstage. Not standing a few feet behind him on the stage, freaking out because that was a lot of people he was looking out at. All Might had him right there to keep things in control. And he was wearing a Sir Nighteye cosplay.
But he had it handled. Totally. And then someone asked about the Incident at Kureito and Izuku noticed All Might didn’t seem to recognize the name. Which made sense, given that was over fifteen years ago and pretty much over the minute he got there. It was an excellent example of All Might at his best, but also definitely didn’t make that much of an impression on the man himself.
Izuku racked his brain on how to get All Might to remember it. Anything that would make it stand out from the hundreds of battles he’d fought. The quirks of his opponents, maybe?
But no, Kureito had involved a fire quirk (or actually, a gasoline quirk, but with support gear it was basically a fire quirk), a blade quirk (the guy could make certain parts of his body turn into blades) and a copper manipulation quirk. None of which were as complex to deal with as say, Toxic Chainsaw. So not anything that would make an impression.
The setting too was rather ordinary. It was a mall in the downtown area. All Might had been in the area before the incident as well. Actually, that had made it one of his quickest villain defeats. Not the quickest, of course, but probably in the top ten. But it’s not like that would’ve made an impression.
“Hey kid!” Someone said, and oh. It was the person who asked the question about Kureito. “What are you mumbling about?”
Izuku felt his face burning. How much of what he was thinking did he say out loud? Normally he was used to his mumbling being weird, but this was Hero Con. And moreover it was All Might’s panel! He wanted to make a good impression! He turned to look at All Might. He looked like he also wanted to know what Izuku was thinking.
“Oh, I was just trying to think of a way to remind All Might about Kureito.” Izuku said, smiling nervously. “The footage is pretty interesting, even if its just a standard fire, blade and material quirk combo. Or well, actually, it was a gasoline quirk, not a fire quirk.”
He could feel everyone staring at him.
The Baku-Squad(tm) are here to storm HeroCon!

-Sunday 12:41 PM-
[pikach-uwish]’s name was changed by an admin to [jamming-yay]
Miyako Hakurei did not expect the most interesting thing about the All Might panel to be his somewhat shy panel assistant. All Might himself had simply said that he was here to help keep him on track lest he ramble on for ages (with a laugh that still somehow promised safety even without the muscles to back it up). And he was rather plain looking, elaborate Sir Nighteye cosplay aside.
Which well, that was a good cosplay. Clearly the kid was a fan, which was somewhat impressive. Sir Nighteye wasn’t often cosplayed because on the surface his costume seemed so simple. But the kid had clearly taken the time to get every little detail right. The loss of Sir Nighteye had shaken had shaken quite a few hero fans, herself included. So it was nice to see him getting his dues. At a highly popular All Might panel, which was all sorts of appropriate, really.
Except now all eyes were on the assistant for a completely different reason. Somebody had asked a question about an incident at Kureito. Miyako considered herself a fairly hardcore All Might fan, but even she could barely recall any facts about the incident. More than likely the person asking had experienced it some way, and that’s why they had asked. Except the kid on the stage had just dropped multiple facts about the incident, with a knowledgeable air.
Which of course, prompted about half the crowd to start frantically searching online to see if what the kid had said was true. Miyako sighed.
“C’mon, load already.” She muttered in frustration. The convention’s wifi really was crap. Miyako knew she shouldn’t be surprised since it was a running joke that Hero Con was really just an elaborate way to destroy wifi networks. And it was hardly the first time she’d contented with the crappy wifi. But she had to know if assistant kid was correct.
Finally it loaded. The first source she could find that was more than two sentences on Kureito was a three year old analysis by TheHeroOtaku. Which really wasn’t that surprising. The opening lines confirmed her suspicions. Kureito was really obscure. So much so that only TheHeroOtaku would have bothered to write a whole article on it. Satisfied that she wasn’t somehow forgetting some major All Might battle, she tune back into the panel. She had already missed too much as it was.
“…All Might only had to be there for a minute! Of course it’s not like Marukane, which only took a punch. Which is actually pretty common among many of the smaller incidents in All Might’s career. But it was three opponents in a minute’s time, with three complementary and different quirks! It’s another example of how All Might really is in a league of his own.” The kid was clearly geeking out. The man himself seemed to not mind at all that his panel had just basically been hijacked by his assistant. In fact, Miyako would say he looked proud.
But something about what he was saying felt somewhat familiar. “It really gets overlooked because obviously everyone wants to talk about villains like Toxic Chainsaw, but it’s a shame, because it’s incidents like Kureito which really made All Might the Symbol of Peace.” The kid continued.
It finally clicked in Miyako’s mind. That was eerily similar to the first lines of TheHeroOtaku’s article. Not surprising then. The kid who was cosplaying Sir Nighteye, was enough of a hero fan that he knew TheHeroOtaku. Though that wasn’t that much of an achievement— TheHeroOtaku was known across the entire hero fandom for his extensive knowledge of heroes. Though to know an obscure incident, even one covered by TheHeroOtaku was still quite impressive.
Unless. No, that was impossible. No way could one of the pillars of the hero fandom be a kid who looked like he was still in school. Miyako shook her head. That was a ridiculous thought. Clearly she had pushed her sleep schedule a bit too much. (She had a good excuse! It was Hero Con!)
“So it’s really not surprising All Might doesn’t remember. But I still think it’s a good example of All Might in action. In fact, um, I’m pretty sure I wrote an analysis on it a few years ago.” The kid said, and Miyako’s thoughts screeched to a halt.
“What’s your username, kid?” Someone shouted. The hall was silent, and it easily carried.
And Miyako somehow knew what he was going to say before he did. “Oh, um, TheHeroOtaku.” The kid answered. As if he had no idea the bombshell he’d dropped on the entire hero fandom.

fanlogic is best logic, now at #HeroCon
[Video: Footage of fanlogic’s feet as he walks. He monologues, and the camera stays roughly steady, but with bobbing that indicates he is gesturing.
He says, “I’m still not convinced we’ll find TheHeroOtaku at Hero Con, by the way. I know a lot of people online are taking it as a given, but you’re talking about a needle in a thousand bale haystack. Like there are literally hundreds of thousands of people who come to Hero Con. And basically all of them are giant hero nerds. I know we all want to know his identity, but if we don’t find out, I wouldn’t be too surprised.” ]
[Image: It’s a picture of a fan-made Deku pin, which is his signature face guard with bunny ears. It looks like it was made with shrinky dinks. Three caption are laid across the screen, one above the pin, two below. The topmost caption reads ‘It’s my favorite class 2-A hero student, I had to pick it up!’. Underneath the pin, the first caption read, ’He was so cool in the sports festival!’ . The second reads, ’I hope he isn’t breaking his bones anymore!']
[Image: It’s line of people waiting for access to a conference hall. There are around fifty people in line. The caption reads, ‘An hour early to the #AllMight panel, so of course there’s already a line.’]
[Video: A video pan over of the line, which now extends behind fanlogic a good hundred or so people, minimum. There are a few people milling around, looking at the line.
He says, “I know an All Might panel is historic, but this is ridiculous, there’s still a good 25-30 minutes before they even open the door, let alone start the panel. So of course I’m one of the suckers in line. Good thing we brought snacks.” He holds a bag of chips in front of the camera before the video stops.]
[Video: Footage of fanlogic’s feet, outside this time. By the lighting, it appears to be roughly twilight. The camera is bobbing wildly as he gestures.
He says, “We just got out of the All Might panel and it was insane! First TheHeroOtaku was there! And he was All Might’s assistant and we were all confused! And then! Then All Might called him young Midoriya! As in Deku, the broken bone sport’s festival kid! He’s not even graduated yet! He’s still a student! Man, if you were there, you know— I was screaming, my friends were all screaming. I am definitely a fan of that kid. Now that was a panel to remember.”]

TheHeroOtaku posted
Hello everyone! As some of you know by now, I’m Izuku Midoriya, otherwise known as Deku! I’m currently a heroics student. It was lovely to meet so many of you! Hero Con was truly the best. I can’t wait for next year! And I am truly humbled by everyone who came up and asked for my photo! I’m not even a pro hero yet!
A few of you asked if I was okay with pictures. As long as I’m out in public, my answer is mostly yes! Generally I would love to take a photo and I don’t mind if you post it! But please use your best judgement. I’m honored that is something many of you want!
I know many of you are wondering where my analysis went and I still plan to post some! I’m just looking for a few people to start reviewing them before I post so that I don’t accidentally reveal sensitive information. Now that I actually have some insider information, I’m going to have to take more time reviewing what I post. That and I want to make sure my analysis is used to make heroes’ lives better.
Anyways, if you have any questions, feel free to put them in the comments or in my asks. I can’t promise I’ll answer them right away, but I’ll do my best.
#Hero Con, #my first!!, #personal, #I’m still working on the analysis, sorry!!, #but it was lovely to meet you all!

StarryEyedFangirl commented — What’s it like to know All Might so personally? I can’t believe you know him so well!
TheHeroOtaku commented — @StarryEyedFangirl Amazing! Honestly I can’t believe it half the time either! But he is just as amazing as all the videos show.
FatgumNo1Fan commented — Now that you’ve done a face reveal, are you thinking of changing your handle?
TheHeroOtaku commented — @FatgumNo1Fan I thought about it way back when I picked my hero name, but this has been my handle since I was six, so I can’t see myself changing it now.
HeroSpam commented — That’s so cool! Any idea when you’re going to post the next analysis? They’re amazing!
TheHeroOtaku commented — @HeroSpam no, unfortunately I think this one is going to take awhile. But I’m glad you enjoy them!
fanlogic commented — How did you pick your hero name?
TheHeroOtaku commented — @fanlogic It’s a way to read my name— it was originally used as an insult when I was younger. But a friend of mine convinced me to reclaim it. She said it felt a bit like ‘I can do it’!

Miyako Hakurei is my own OC. The Incident at Kureito is also of my own creation. Kureito is based upon Crait, which is the salt planet from Star Wars The Last Jedi. So hopefully it's not a complete butchery. As before, InstaSnap is a fictional social media.
Here it is. The most nerve-wracking chapter of this entire story. I don't even think the next chapter will top this one. Sorry about the whole chapter a year thing by the way! I was looking back and... I've basically posted a chapter a year. I didn't mean to, but alas, real life is indeed a thing.
Also I'm not 100% caught up to the anime or manga right now, so hopefully I didn't make any errors with the plot!
Please let me know if you see any errors, spelling, grammatical or formatting.
Thank you for waiting, here's to hoping the next (and final) chapter won't take a year! With my luck it'll take two now.

The Latest Hero Ranking Report is Out (What You Need to Know)
Ai Amachi, Heroics Reporter for Juzo News
[Image: It’s a silhouette of a group of heroes, the shapes of the costumes making clear the figures despite them being backlit. From left to right the five Heroes are the gravity hero Uravity, the explosive hero Dynamight, the Symbol of Hope Deku, the hurricane hero Gale Force and the waveform hero Nejire Chan. They stand outside in some vague metropolitan area. The keen observer would know that this photo was not part of a photoshoot (it’s subjects being from a wide variety of agencies, with interagency publicity photos still being somewhat rare)— rather, this image was taken after a minor rescue operation handled by these heroes and just so happened to be well taken.]
Ever since 20XX, the Hero Ranking Report has been mired by controversy. While the Report has always been respected as the way to distinguish which Heroes are doing the most, in 20XX, it came under fire for making Hero work a competition and shutting out Rescue Heroes. In the years afterwards, it quietly faded into the background and many a Heroics fan was left wondering what would replace it. Then, four years ago, the Report suddenly exploded back onto the scene with an extensive overhaul.
Much of the new parts of the Report came from the extensive changes the Heroics Commission, the publishers of the Report, were forced to undergo by lead figures in Heroics. Most of these lead figures came into fame through the Month of Terror and need no introduction. Still, the amount of changes were extensive— entire new categories for Rescue Heroes, Sidekicks and Hero Teams. Special awards for The Most Effective Team-up and Minimizing Property Damage. Analysis of Charities Funded and Founded by Heroes. And, of course, a completely new metric for the final Rankings which take into account Heroic performance in all categories.
At a staggering fifty-seven pages, this year’s Heroics Report contains many anticipated rankings but also some interesting upsets. This article could not possibly cover everything in the Report. But as of four years ago, the Report is now offered for free to the public. If you want to know all the in-depth detail, the report is available on the Hero Commission’s website. That being said, here are some key highlights.
5. The Rescue Heroes List Continues to Highlight Lesser Known Heroes
So, Uravity, the number one Rescue Hero for this year is no unknown. Neither is number three, Deku. But the number two, Kiriga, is. She’s not a new Hero, having started nearly a decade before the latest generation of Heroes emerged. However, ranking number two is quite impressive as her last rank was number fifteen on this very list. Her quirk Vaporize makes her ideal for Rescue work, allowing her to vaporize everything she touches. This pattern continues throughout the rest of the Rescue Hero list. Many of the Heroes made famous from the Month of Terror are interspersed with less well known Heroes who are finally getting their well deserved spotlight.
4. Dynamight Takes the Award for Minimizing Property Damage
Given that Dynamight is often compared to Endeavor by detractors, this award may come to many as a shock. Endeavor, of course, is infamous for inflicting large amounts of property damage. However, despite his reputation, Dynamight has always shown a Plus Ultra! attitude towards minimizing property damage. This is probably due in part to the fact that his Quirk could be used in very destructive manners. With the introduction of his latest special move, Flashbang, Dynamight has added a powerful non-lethal method of takedown to his arsenal. So while he has always excelled in this category, this year marks a new high point in his career. For those who expected Deku to sweep the top spots, this was quite the surprise. But the statistics don’t lie— in this category, Dynamight barely edges out Deku.
3. The Support Hero Category Remains Fiercely Contested
Few could forget the drama from last year with the public argument between then number seven Support Hero, Hoshi Koide and number six Support Hero Akito Asano. The two were caught on multiple observers’ cameras loudly arguing over their heroic ranks. Their argument quickly spread across the entire field of Support Heroes as it brought up questions about how Support Heroes should be ranked and categorized, or even if they should be at all. The Support Hero category has become one of the most fiercely competitive, arguably even over the top Hero spot. While many factors have influenced this shift, a key one is the prevalent belief that higher ranked Support Heroes bring in more traffic to their agencies. Unfortunately the drama shows no sign of stopping as this year, Hoshi Koide is ranked number four and Akito Asano is ranked number five. Mei Hatsume remains constant at rank number two, which is quite the feat given just about every other rank has shuffled around this year.
2. New Temporary Team-up Category Blazes onto the Scene
To the delight of many a heroics fan, a new category was introduced this year— Temporary Team-ups. Have no fear, the Official Hero Team rankings remain. For those curious, the dynamic duo of Nejire Chan and Suneater remains dominant, rank number one for the third year in a row. Though if the whispers about a permanent UA Class 3-A team are true, that may not remain for long. For now, the famous class will have to settle for absolutely dominating the Temporary Team-up category. Unsurprisingly, the trio of Deku, Dynamight and Gale Force take number one in this category for their work protecting Fukuoka during the 20XX tsunami.
1. Deku Takes the Number One Spot
At this point it probably comes as no surprise that Deku, the Symbol of Hope, is number one Overall Hero again. With high ranks in just about every category he could qualify for, he was the clear winner from the beginning. Though this hardly comes as a surprise given he has dominated the top spot ever since the report’s restructure four years ago. No, what is a surprise this year is just how much Deku dominated the top spot. He appears in the top ten for just about anything he could qualify for, and has three number one spots besides the overall. Given he shows no sign of stopping, it seems clear now the true fight is for second place— and that second place to Deku is nothing to be ashamed of.

ProHero Brawl Ultimate Rematch’s Big Balancing Issue Aka Deku
Thanks @fanlogic for suggesting this topic of analysis, because it is a fascinating one. For those of you who are new here, I’m ultimatehero_fan, I do all sorts of analysis and breakdown of ProHero Brawl. In pervious analysis I’ve covered All Might across his various ProHero appearances, Endeavor and the inclusion of controversial ‘Heroes’, and much, much more. Feel free to check out my archives for more. I’ve covered Deku before but that was only theorizing as at the time he wasn’t in any ProHero Brawl games. However, as of ProHero Brawl Ultimate Rematch, Deku is now in ProHero Brawl. So without further ado, let’s talk ProHero Brawl Ultimate Rematch and the Symbol of Hope, Deku.
Part I: How Do You Balance Heroes from Real Life?
When approaching the new ProHero Brawl game, the developers had a big problem. Deku, the Symbol of Hope, followed in his mentor’s footsteps in being very OP when scaled against other heroes. This was true of All Might as well, but to a lesser degree. And the issue with All Might was already pushing it a bit, to the point where All Might is often banned from usage in certain ProHero Brawl tournaments (the one which is least likely to have All Might banned, by the way? ProHero Brawl 2 which introduced All Might, about a year after his debut).
One of the big appeals of ProHero Brawl is that it gives everyone the chance to play as their favorite heroes (major heroes anyways, the roster can’t be infinite). Which means the heroes have to feel like themselves. Uravity wouldn’t be Uravity without her gravity powers. And Deku wouldn’t feel like Deku if he didn’t have a good sampling of everything he can do. Which is a lot.
First, there’s his kick-based smashes, all twenty-four of them. Then there’s his fist-based smashes. Admittedly there’s only six of those, but that’s still a lot on top. Then there’s his specialty moves— and there’s probably like thirty or forty of those? Honestly you have to be a real heroics nerd to know how many of those he has, Deku always seems to be tinker and changing that lineup. None of that even touches his mobility options— Deku can almost fly, can grapple around with dark tentacles and can bounce around tight spaces. Or his regular non-named attacks. That’s way too much for any fighting game, even the sophisticated system of ProHero Brawl. And yet, the more one takes off this list, the less it feels like Deku.
Some elements are easier than others— Deku has to retain a few of his kick based smashes and at least one of his fist based. His black tentacles have to show up in some form or another. He has to have high mobility and excellent tanking abilities. But see, already as I’ve listed all these elements, that sounds OP. In ProHero Brawl, Deku needed weakness, lest he be used by everyone to the detriment of all other heroes. All Might was pushing it, but his moveset was confined to kicks and punches for the most part.
Part II: The Solutions
Deku, current number one, is very powerful. So, how to balance the latest ProHero Brawl? I want to quickly note that this isn’t just true of Deku— they have to work with this issue whenever they add Heroes. Quirks can do a lot of interesting things. But Deku is an extreme case.
Before we go over how they actually solved this issue, let’s cover some of the ways they didn’t solve it. Some of this comes from leaked internal documents, but most of this is my own conjecture. The options left on the table are fascinating.
What we do know was proposed was to make Deku a timed event— basically players would only get to play as Deku at certain times. It seems like this didn’t make it very far before getting shot down. Similarly, it was proposed that Deku be a special mode. Basically it would be a team-up against the Deku playing player. This seems to be the basis of Team-Up mode, a new addition in ProHero Brawl Ultimate Rematch where up to three players team up against a fourth player who was an “Empowered” Hero (a hero with a greater, more powerful move-set).
Moving into the unsubstantiated theories, it seems possible Deku might’ve originally be planned to reflect his historical strength, either based upon his early Class 3-A days or just post-Month of Terror. It also seems possible the developers could’ve simply given Deku incredibly long cooldowns.
Instead, what the developers of ProHero Brawl chose to do was to make Deku one of the most tricky heroes to handle. His move-set combos requires more precise inputs than any other hero. Playing Deku is incredibly punishing with missed and incorrect inputs. In addition, Deku in Pro-Hero Brawl automatically chooses the smash he uses when performing a kick and punch special attacks. He has three punch options and five kick options. These options are randomly chosen when an attack is made and do different amounts of damage. This combined with the move-set combos precision makes Deku powerful in the right hands, but not OP.
Part III: Community Reaction
When ProHero Brawl Ultimate Rematch was announced, everyone wondered if Deku would be included and if so, how. When he was finally announced for the roster, there was much excitement, but also more than a few worried about his implementation, which was then unknown. Reactions to how ultimately worked out continue to be mixed to this day.
There is a quite vocal subsection of those who play ProHero Brawl who find Deku’s implementation unsatisfactory. Deku’s special attack randomization in particular is divisive. Many believe that it undermines what makes ProHero Brawl fun. There are others who think it doesn’t do enough to make Deku balanced.
Deku’s inclusion in tournaments remains mixed, like All Might before him. To the credit of the ProHero Brawl developers, Deku is more often allowed in tournament play. The precise inputs required along with the randomization of moves makes Deku a niche character at higher levels of play. Those who do chose to use Deku at high levels of play often specialize in multiple Heroes.
But many have praised Deku as incredibly fun to play casually. The randomization of his special moves can lead to incredibly cool moments. In casual play, a failed combo or two is less of an issue and makes successes feel all the more rewarding. And, most crucially of all, few claim Deku in ProHero Brawl doesn’t feel like Deku.
—
Whoa, this was really in depth! Though I disagree that Deku’s combos are too hard. I mean, they’re tricky for ProHero Brawl standards, but they’re not that bad.

[Image: It’s a picture of a cosplay of Silver Age All Might and a cosplay of Deku from just after the Month of Terror. The Deku cosplayer is wearing makeup to mimic the famous Deku victory photo. That means she is covered in fake mud splatter and a rainbow of fake bruises and cuts. She even has a prosthesis for a large cut that shows a fake bone on her right arm. The All Might cosplayer seems to lack any makeup at all in comparison. But close inspection would reveal that there seems to be a bit of makeup just above his cheeks.]

fanlogic presents a brief history of #Deku at #HeroCon!
[Video: A short clip of fanlogic, an ordinary looking man save for his cyan octopus tentacles for hair and dark blue, nearly black eyes. He grins at the camera and after a moment speaks.
He says “Hey guys! It’s a week before Hero Con so I thought now would be the perfect time to repost my brief history of Deku at Hero Con, newly updated for this year! Without further ado, let’s get into it!”]
[Image: It’s a picture taken from All Might’s InstaSnap, of a blushing Midoriya who is standing backstage at All Might’s first ever panel at Hero Con. He’s looking down at his phone, the bright screen illuminating his face slightly. He is still in his Sir Nighteye cosplay.
fanlogic speaks over the image. He says “This is the first known appearance of Deku at Hero Con, way back when he was a student at UA. And what a memorable introduction it was! Deku assisted All Might with his panel. Though Deku sort of ended up taking over the panel when it was revealed he was TheHeroOtaku, a well known pillar of heroic fandom to this day!”]
[Image: It’s Deku with fanlogic. fanlogic is wearing a Deku shirt, one of the first ever produced, which was simply a print of the top of Deku’s hero suit at the time. Deku is wearing an Ingenium shirt which has his logo cleanly printed in the front. Avid heroics fans would know this shirt was actually for the first Ingenium, the current Ingenium’s older brother. Deku is also wearing a full cast on his right arm and right leg. It is covered in many multicolored signatures.
fanlogic says “Deku was one of the few heroes to show up to the first Hero Con after the Month of Terror. And he was swarmed with people who wanted to sign his casts. By the end of the Con, every inch had been covered several times over except for where his friends and family had signed it.”]
[Video: It’s a short, shaky clip of Deku charging into a panel, a step away from using his quirk. He looks flustered and is saying something rapidly, though the audio for the clip has been muted. fanlogic speaks over the clip instead.
He says “This is the now infamous ‘caught up in a small debate’ incident wherein Deku was nearly 45 minutes late to his panel because he sparked a five-way debate on the Con floor. Ever since this incident, fans as well as Deku’s friends and family have taken to reminding Deku to go to his panel on time. It’s a bit of an in-joke at this point.”]
[Video: It’s a static security camera shot of Deku, Dynamight and a police officer getting pulled into a fight against several villains. They are just outside a convention hall and Deku is in a cosplay of Lemillion, a hero who’s career was cut short by health issues (though rumors have recently been circulating that he may come back to heroics soon).
Over this clip, fanlogic says “Last year Deku even managed to get pulled into the fifth ever villain attack at Hero Con. Which lead to this footage of Deku fighting in cosplay circulating everywhere. Actually a few people there the day of mistook Deku for Lemillion at first, despite the fact that Lemillion hasn’t been active for many years now. And the fact that Deku’s quirk looks a lot different than Lemillion’s reportedly does.”]
[Video: A longer clip of fanlogic, who immediately jumps into speaking. He gestures excitedly as he speaks. “And now for some quick fun facts about Deku at Hero Con.
First, he always comes in cosplay for at least one day of the con. Many fans, like myself, have started to collect pictures with Deku in cosplay.
StarryEyedFangirl has even complied a list of every Deku cosplay. They include everything from All Might to Mt. Lady to Crimson Riot to Lemillion. When Deku gave an apartment tour, he had a whole closet for cosplays.
And finally he has on occasion bought out whole fanartists’ booths. Even when he doesn’t, Deku will sign fanart of himself while shopping. I’ve heard from more than one fanartist that they’ve been aggressively complimented by Deku. It’s to the point where I’ve heard him visiting called ‘being Deku-ed’.
Anyways, that’s a brief history of Deku, TheHeroOtaku himself, at Hero Con. He is a pillar not only of the heroic community, but the heroic fandom for a reason!”]

Security Camera 34A Footage Log — 12:01 pm
[Video: It’s a close shot of a convention hall’s front facade through a broken camera lens. Much of the hall still stands on the edges of the camera, but the area closest, the front facade, has crumbled. A torn banner hanging off the facade shows that this footage was taken the second day of last year’s Hero Con.
It’s not clear from this angle, but the culprit for the damage to the hall is a group of villains who are offscreen. Occasionally green flashes, flare from offscreen, making the already poor quality worse. Into this scene emerges one Dynamight, at a rapid pace. His back is to the camera as he heads towards the rubble.]
[K. Bakugo]: Just got (indistinct) censored more to go. What I wouldn’t give for some of those censored extras to get censored here already!
[K. Bakugo (quietly)]: It’s a censored victory if someone censored dies.
[Video: Dynamight picks through the rubble with purpose, occasionally using his explosions to literally propel rubble out of the way. The way the rubble has built up, this is clearly not the first time Dynamight has dug through this particular rubble pile and he is clearly making an attempt to keep the pile balanced. A small girl’s voice cries out as he shifts some of the rubble.]
[K. Bakugo]: censored censored! Hold on, m- kid!
[Video: Dynamight visibly slows down, clearly trying to be gentle in removing the rubble.]
[Unknown Girl]: (indistinct) tired.
[K. Bakugo]: No, censored don’t— don’t censored go to sleep! Stay awake, brat!
[Unknown Girl]: (indistinct)
[K. Bakugo]: I censored know it censored hurts, kiddo. But you got to censored stay awake.
[Unknown Girl]: (indistinct) talk funny, (indistinct).
[K. Bakugo]: Oh? How do I censored talk funny?
[Unknown Girl]: (indistinct). censored. That’s funny.
[K. Bakugo]: It is, is it? Well I’m a censored hero, brat. So that’s why I can censored talk funny. Midgets like you censored can’t.
[Unknown Girl (quiet)]: You’re a (indistinct)? Dad and I came (indistinct) to meet heroes! I was going to meet Deku (indistinct). Do you know Deku? I really (indistinct) meet Deku.
[Video: Dynamight laughs, although it is clearly forced. He speeds up picking through the rubble.]
[K. Bakugo]: Do I know censored Deku? Who doesn’t know that censored? Hey brat, I said censored stay awake! Stay awake and I’ll tell you about that censored loser.
[Unknown Girl]: He’s not a loser, he’s Deku!
[K. Bakugo]: That’s it, kiddo. Just like censored that. And yeah, he’s a censored loser nerd. Cries over everything. Which means you can censored cry, brat. I don’t censored judge.
[Unknown Girl]: (indistinct) strong like Deku.
[K. Bakugo]: Midget, you’re stronger than censored Deku. You’d be stronger even if you were censored sobbing. Alright, hold censored still.
[Unknown Girl]: (indistinct) stronger! He can hold up buildings!
[K. Bakugo]: Sure can, kid. But he’s a censored mess when he needs surgery. So you’re stronger. And, just like censored that. C’mon kiddo, you want to go for a censored ride? It’ll be censored fun, I promise.
[Unknown Girl (quietly)]: Okay.
[Video: Dynamight straightens up from his crouched position.]
[K. Bakugo]: Yeah, up we go, just like that.
[Video: Dynamight emerges from the rubble carrying a small girl with pale green hair. She has a tourniquet tied around one leg. Her face is buried in Dynamight’s costume.]
[Unknown Girl (muffled)]: D-do you think I’ll m-meet Deku someday?
[K. Bakugo]: Yeah, you censored will. I’ll make sure of it. Alright, censored hold on tight, little nerd.
[Video: Dynamight casually points the arm not clutching onto the girl behind him and lets out a controlled explosion, rocketing out of frame just barely off the ground.]
DekUravity Ship Docks
-Thursday 1:21 AM-
[acidburn]: i finally finished my comp video 😁
[CandyHeart]: oh nice! link please?
[acidburn]: oh my bad. here!
[StarryEyedFangirl]: Wow, how did you get some of these photos and videos?
[StarryEyedFangirl]: Wait. Please tell me you didn’t use paparazzi photos.
[acidburn]: i promise i didn’t.
[CandyHeart]: I’ve never seen this photo.
[CandyHeart] has sent screenshot_3215.png to the chat
[Image: It’s a screenshot of a private YapTube video. In the freeze frame of the video, a younger Deku is sitting on a couch with Uravity next to him. Both are wearing intense expressions and holding video game controllers though the actual console and game screen is out of shot. Deku is in UA uniform with his tie missing and Uravity is wearing casual clothing.]
[firelight]: Wait how did you get that photo?
[StarryEyedFangirl]: Wait a sec. Acid, weren’t you shipping DekUravity at Deku’s first Hero Con?
[StarryEyedFangirl]: We barely knew about Class 3-A then.
[acidburn]: whoops. i forgot about that one 😫
[acidburn]: i may have taken that photo?
[CandyHeart]: Acid, do you mean you were at UA at the same time as Deku!?
[acidburn]: maybe
[CandyHeart]: Heroics, support, general or business?
[firelight]: Whoa wait guys. acid deserves privacy too.
[acidburn]: no, no it’s ok. i was going to say something eventually. i’m in heroics.
[acidburn]: don’t go spreading it around, but. hi, i’m pinky! 💖
[firelight]: What?!
[StarryEyedFangirl]: You’re joking. What?
Class 3-A Emerged on this Day from the Month of Terror
Kinnosuke Kamoto, Heroics Reporter for the Tokyo Herald
[Image: It is a picture of Class 3-A standing in front of UA’s main building in their school uniforms. A popular photo for new articles about Class 3-A. They stand in a semicircle arc in seating order, with Yuga Aoyama as student no. 1 as the rightmost student and Hitoshi Shinso, a relatively new addition at the time of the photo, as student no. 21 as the leftmost student. The most observant would know that this is actually their group school photo from their second year. The next year, when it came time to take the group photo, it was only a few weeks after the end of the Month of Terror and consequently most of them (but especially Deku) were still injured.]
Class 3-A of UA was propelled to fame by the Month of Terror and needs no introduction. That being noted, the usage of the collective name Class 3-A is misleading. Every class A of UA eventually becomes Class 3-A before graduating. Yet, at the same time, it is an incredibly accurate moniker, for never has there been such a large group of heroes with such well honed synergy in all of Japan, or perhaps even the world.
Perhaps this should come as no surprise. Certainly no UA class has ever faced the dangers that this one has. Indeed, many theorize the famous Class 3-A can effortlessly team up because of the pressures placed upon them. It is a bit of an idealistic notion but it does seem to fit the way the Class seems to completely embody the ‘Plus Ultra’ motto of UA. So perhaps the name ‘Class 3-A’ does fit, as it accurately describes the way the group is.
Many have forgotten by now, but after the Month of Terror was resolved, there was much talk of Class 3-A. Much of it revolved around agencies. Looking back on it now, it seems foolish to wonder. The Rescue Corps, Dynamight’s, Deku’s, all of it barely seems to matter to those in the agencies. Class 3-A might be spread across a dozen agencies, but no one seems to have informed them of that.
Looking back on All Might’s retirement, when all of Japan was left in a limbo state, the emergence of Class 3-A seems obvious. Here was a class who had already been through a villain attack and a kidnapping of one of their fellow classmates. Their performance at the Sport’s Festival should have made it easy to realize this was one of the most powerful classes UA had ever put together. They were, in many ways, already heroes.
Yet much of it was, at the time, unpredictable. All of their raw power was unpolished. Even Deku at that time looked less like the dominant Number One he now is and rather more like a top ten hero at best. To us now, that seems laughable, but it must be remembered that the rapid rush for the top ten Class 3-A has shown is unprecedented. Even with the Hero Rankings’ restructure, Class 3-A have rapidly emerged to fill the top ten spots, a feat that usually requires years.
All Might, their former teacher, was called the Symbol of Peace. It was a marker of how he redefined what Japan thought of as low rates of criminality and villainy. In the early days of Class 3-A, when they first emerged out of the Month of Terror, many tried to attribute titles to some of the more prominent of the class. In fact, to this day, the title Symbol of Hope has stuck for Deku. But he is the rare exception, as most titles thrown around at that time have long been forgotten.
The only other moniker that has stuck around from that time aside from individual Hero names is Class 3-A. It’s been years since Class 3-A has emerged— any other group of Heroes would have long ceased to be referred to by their class name. But Class 3-A has remained. There are many reasons for this, of course.
But perhaps we should propose one more.
I think the reason we still think of Class 3-A as Class 3-A is because they have become Japan’s new Symbol of Peace. It is a burden shared across a new generation of Heroes. On this day, several years ago, Class 3-A emerged onto the national, and even the world, stage. Out of the rubble of the Month of Terror stepped forth new Heroes. They echoed the famous catchphrase of All Might, first said all those years ago at his debut, not in words but deeds. And the message rings true for every appearance of UA’s most famous class.
It’s Going to be Alright, Everyone, Class 3-A is Here!
Eri bounced excitedly on her feet with only a hint of nervousness. Around her, Hero Con was in full swing. All she had to do was figure out where to go first. It was proving to be a more challenging choice than she expected. But it couldn’t dim her excitement. Hero Con only happened once a year, after all!
Her classmate and childhood friend Kota, scoffed from beside her. “Calm down, Eri. It’s just Hero Con. We’ve been here before.”
“But we’re UA students now!” Eri said, grinned at him. “Come on, you know that’s going to make a difference! Zuku and the rest of them always say so.”
“Deku and the rest of Class 3-A are the pillars of the Heroics Community.” Kota said. “I don’t think their experiences are going to be typical.”
“Kota,” Eri whined, “stop being such a spoilsport. I know you’ve been waiting for this as much as I have!”
“Well, duh.” Kota said. “It’s Hero Con! I’m just saying I don’t think it’s going to be any different than last year.”
“Like I said. Spoilsport!” Eri said. “How about this? I bet you 20 yen we’ll find some Water Hose merchandise.”
“No way.” Kota replied, crossing his arms. “When we find some of my parents, you’re going to claim that counts.”
“It’s not my fault you decided your hero name was going to be your parents’ team name, Mr. Unoriginal!” Eri said, throwing up her hands in the air.
“Well at least I have a name, Miss Undecided.” Kota snorted.
“Spoil. Sport.” Eri said. “Fine. 20 yen for merch of you specifically. Happy?”
Kota grinned. “Now that is a bet I’ll take. You’re so going to lose. Come on, let’s go check out the con floor!”
Eri groaned. “No way, you’re going to take a million years! You take after Zuku too much! We’ll miss all the panels!”
“What’s the point of Hero Con if not to get a bunch of limited run merchandise?” Kota asked, already starting to move towards the con floor.
“Oh, I don’t know, maybe the panels and experiences and stuff?” Eri said, running to catch up to him. “Or are you going to tell me you haven’t been waiting for Zuku’s panel as much I have been?”
“Eri, you and I both see Deku all the time. Why would we need to see his panel? I’m fairly certain both of us will know everything he says and then some.” Kota said, groaning. “We’ve both literally grown up around heroes.”
“I- that’s different, Kota!” Eri sputtered. “You honestly just spend all your time with them pestering them with questions about their work?”
“Uh, duh?” Kota said. “I’m a heroics student, aren’t I? Why wouldn’t I take advantage of the fact that I have personal connections to the number one and his high ranking classmates?”
“Kota, that’s rude!” Eri said.
“They love their jobs,” Kota said. “I’ve done far ruder things than pestering the infamous Class 3-A to talk about their heroics work. Besides, do you really think Deku of all people hates talking about heroics?”
“Well no.” Eri said. “But still! It’s the principle of it all!”
“It’s not rude when Deku won’t shut up about it.” Kota scoffed. “Now come on, Eri, Deku’s panel isn’t even until Sunday! And before that I have 20 yen to win!”
“Ugh, fine.” Eri said. “But I think you mean you have 20 yen to lose!”
Kota shouted with a grin as he ran ahead, “In your dreams!”
▷ Yap!Tube
[Video: It’s about an hour into the panel. Izuku Midoriya is sitting on a sofa in the center and has clearly dragged some of his friends onto the panel. They sit on three couches in a u-shaped pattern. Ochaco Uraraka is attempting to aggressively shoving Izuku off their couch. She is failing miserably despite the fact that she has clearly made him weightless. The observant would notice that Midoriya is discretely holding onto the couch with a black tentacle.
On the leftmost couch, the Iida Tenya is sitting properly, but also wildly gesticulating as he cheers on Midoriya. Next to him is Hitoshi Shinso who looks like he’d rather be anywhere else but is putting up with this madness for now. Meanwhile on the rightmost couch, Shoto Todoroki is egging on Uraraka. Next to him, Momo Yaoyorozu is clearly trying to stifle her laughter. She is also failing miserably.
After a moment, Uraraka lets out a large sigh and releases her quirk.]
[O. Uraraka]: I hope that answered your question! So yes, with sufficient warning, Deku here can counteract my quirk. Now, if I had actually managed to catch Deku off guard, then we would’ve had a show!
[Video: Izuku Midoriya frowns a little bit at Uraraka. He is blushing slightly.]
[I. Midoriya]: I-I don’t think the con staff want me exploring the ceiling! But Ochaco is right, most quirks are counter-able with sufficient warning. The hard part is that we, as heroes, sometimes get very little warning. After all, it’s not like we can ask rampaging villains to wait while we figure out how to stop them. Which is why reaction time is so crucial. Anyways, next question?
[Video: The video cuts to a shot of the audience, where a small kid stands. He is maybe eight years old, with cyan-blue hair that stands up in sharp spikes. His hoodie is clearly one of Deku’s merch line, with its forest green color, bunny ears on the hood and white piping.]
[T. Anjo]: Hi! I- I’m T-takehiko Anjo. Y-you’re really c-cool, Deku! I j-just wanted to- to know, what’s the m-most powerful q-quirk you’ve seen?
[I. Midoriya]: Hi Anjo! Most powerful quirk, huh? That’s a hard one actually. It’s true that some quirks are more powerful than others. But most of the time, the power of a quirk comes down to how much a person practices with it. How much a person get’s used to it. Take Ochaco for instance. Manipulating gravity is a powerful quirk, but when I first met her, she could only really use her quirk for a few minutes. Powerful in its own right, but she certainly would’ve struggled if her limit had stayed where it was.
[Video: Izuku Midoriya trails off for a second, descending into muttering. It’s too quiet for the microphone to pickup. But eventually he seemed to realize what has happened (perhaps thanks to a discrete nudge from Uraraka) and straightens up.]
[I. Midoriya]: Whoops. Where was I?
[H. Shinso]: Uravity’s quirk.
[I. Midoriya]: Oh, my bad! As I was saying, often times a powerful quirks comes not from the strength of the quirk itself. So it’s rather hard for me to pick what the strongest quirk I’ve ever seen is. It’s hardly fair to be comparing my fellow heroes to someone who has never had any quirk counseling, therapy or even just training. If I had to pick amongst the current heroes, I’d probably have to say either Kacchan, Gale Force or Shoto here. If we’re talking heroes of all time though, it’s All Might, hands down. But I would say that the power of a quirk matters less than we often think it does. Invisible Girl’s quirk is incredibly hard to use offensively, but she still does. Because she wanted to be a hero, she is. That’s what matters, far more than how powerful a quirk is. I hope that answered your question!

[Image: It is a well edited picture of a bunch of heroes standing in a V formation. Deku stands proudly in the center, fist raised to the sky in triumph. Uravity floats slightly to his left. Dynamight next to her grins at the camera, aiming one of his hand canons at the camera. Nejire Chan stands in a bodybuilder pose to the far left. Gale Force stands looms between her and Dynamight, slightly in the background. To Deku’s right is Shoto, creating a fire held in a frost cage. Next to Shoto is the second Ingenium who appears to have just run into frame. Tsukuyomi and his Dark Shadow stand just off to the right and behind Ingenium in a menacing pose. Suneater stands at the far right, a mass of tentacles for his right hand. Behind the group is a silhouette of many more heroes, past and present. Notably, one of the shadows near the front has distinctively v-shaped hair.]

Notes:
It’s done!
When I said each chapter took a year, that did not mean I wanted it to take over two! I even predicted it in a joking manner in my last note… I guess I shouldn’t have said anything! Sorry, real life got in the way. And in case you missed my comments on the last chapter, yes, I did sort of fall out of the BNHA fandom for awhile. Thank you for your patience. I certainly didn’t expect this fanfic to take nearly 5 years.
For this chapter, I deliberately chose not to get caught up in BNHA— the last arc I think I watched was the Overhaul arc. Which was obviously awhile ago. But I didn’t want to get caught up because I thought that would make it so this chapter didn’t fit with the rest. An idea complicated by the fact that this epilogue has a decent timeskip in it which meant I had to make up a lot of future details. Future details which may have been invalidated by BNHA canon moving forward. So if there are any inaccuracies in terms of that, know that this was only written to be canon up to around the Overhaul arc.
Deku’s title of Symbol of Hope was inspired by this post on tumblr by swiftwidget. You should check it out, it’s really awesome. I think that’s also where the idea of Class 1-A becoming the collective symbol of peace loosely came from. Although, I’m pretty sure that was more an invention of my own mind.
fanlogic, ulitimatehero_fan, 5ky1abf0x, HeroSpam, StarryEyedFangirl, CandyHeart, firelight and acidburn are made up handles, though I cannot claim the ones which are based upon other medias.
Kiriga, Ai Amachi, Hoshi Koide, Akito Asano, Kinnosuke Kamoto and Takehiko Anjo are my own OCs, limited as their character development is.
Dynamight is the name I used as Bakugo’s hero name, which came from others in the fandom, but I’m unsure exactly where I picked it up now. When I wrote those parts, it was one of the two most popular names (alongside Ground Zero) so in that sense it’s hardly original. And yes, Todoroki keeps using Shoto as his hero name. At least in this fic anyways.
The Month of Terror is my own creation— it’s what I named the climatic battle against the League of Villains that could end BNHA. As you might expect by the name, in this story it was about a month of relentless fighting. That’s about all I figured out for it. It is loosely based upon something I read in one of aloneintherain’s fics I believe, but I’m not sure. At any rate, aloneintherain has some nice gen fanfics about BNHA.
As before, InstaSnap is a fictional social media, as well as Yap!Tube, the latter of which still comes from BNHA itself. The Tokyo Herald is a made up newspaper, as is Juzo News, although again the latter does show up in BNHA itself (but only in the anime).
Hopefully Eri and Kota don’t feel too OOC— I tried really hard to strike a balance between them having grown up a lot and also still have them feel like the kids we know. Who knows how I did on that front.
If I have missed any attributions anywhere, I’m sorry, there’s a lot of them. Also please let me know if you see any errors, spelling, grammatical and formatting.
And that’s it, that’s the whole fanfic. Honestly I still can’t believe it’s done. If I could change anything going back, I might have removed the twitter bits from previous chapters. But, I’m not going to change that now. It’s done and I am done rambling.
