Work Text:
It was 3 centuries after the battle of Hogwarts and the wizarding world has changed a lot for the better ever since. This has caused Yoongi to finally receive his letter of invitation to Hogwarts at the age of 13. His family was beyond ecstatic when they received the letter. His father, half-werewolf, and his mother, a pureblood wizard, were very proud of him. His older brother had enrolled to Hogwarts 2 years earlier and everyone knows how he is having a time of his life so Yoongi is relieved he got his letter as well.
Many things have changed throughout the years, making it possible for a mix of werewolf and human like Yoongi to enroll to Hogwarts. Many potions and spells have been done on Yoongi to seal his werewolf-like tendencies to transform during full moon however some small traits such as preference for almost raw meat and super sensitive sense of smell of other werewolves remained. He is also able to release a smell called pheromones, although only for mating purposes. Yoongi and many other mix werewolf children are now able to live lives just like normal human beings.
The day before the Min brothers’ departure to Hogwarts, the family gathered in Yoongi’s room. Yoongi felt nervous about going away from home for months, staying in a boarding, living with new people. All of them seemed too overwhelming for the youngest. Yoongi was in his bed, arms circling his mother’s waist while his mother’s hand draped over his shoulder. His father sat on the right corner of the bed and his brother did so on the left.
“What are you nervous about, son?” His father asked while smiling.
“Everything?” Yoongi quietly whispered.
“You are going to be alright, bro. Look at me. Still in one piece.” His brother tried.
Yoongi nodded. “It’s just.. I’m afraid I will not be able to adapt well, you know? Me being an introvert and an alpha. It seems like every alphas in Hogwarts are extroverted just like both of you!” Yoongi pointed towards his father and older brother. “I’m just.. I don’t know. I might not fit in Gryffindor.”
“Some alphas are also in the three other houses, you should not worry too much. I was a Gryffindor but I do have alpha friends from the other houses. Yoongi, it does not matter which House you are in. We are proud of you and we will always be. You just need to try your very best.”
His mother gently stroked his hair, “You are going to be alright, honey. Believe in yourself. Your brother is with you as well, you can always ask for his help, you know. On a side note, you might be a Slytherin, just like me.” Yoongi’s tense shoulders relaxed a little after hearing his parents’ words.
“But I do hope you will enter Gryffindor.” His brother replied.
“Just like me!” His father responded jokingly while tapping his chest twice.
“Yoongi takes after me so he will be in Slytherin!” His mother then hugged Yoongi.
His parents continued to bicker for a while to ease the tension in Yoongi. Yoongi laughed at his parents’ actions and finally told them he was feeling better.
On the next day, both of his parents accompanied him and his brother to the train station before departing for Hogwarts. Yoongi remembered bringing a small suitcase which was jinxed by his mother to be able to contain a whole load of stuff that petite-bodied and rather skinny Yoongi was able to carry. Yoongi also remembered bringing a small electronic piano that he used to play with when he was bored. His parents brought him to the Diagon Alley a week before and Yoongi got to adopt a black-furred cat with piercing green eyes as a pet. The cat called Charcoal was purring softly on Yoongi’s free hand.
It is still fresh in Yoongi’s memory his first dinner in the grand dining hall of Hogwarts. He was mesmerised by all the decorations and candles floating at the ceiling with the help of magic. He was wearing his first year black cloak without the indication of his house just yet. He remembered he sat at the first year tables with all the other freshmen. Yoongi made his first friend there, a boy sitting next to him at the corner front of the table. His name is Namjoon. In Yoongi’s mind appeared an image of a boy with an oversized cloak which hung over his shoulder loosely and a pair of circle glasses on the bridge of his nose.
“Are you nervous for the sorting?” the boy who sat next to him asked.
“A little bit,” Yoongi answered while playing with the cloak using his long fingers.
“Me too. My name is Namjoon.” the boy offered his right hand to Yoongi.
“I’m Yoongi.”
There and then, the two boys started talking, exchanging their stories. Yoongi found out how Namjoon was enrolled early despite of his young age due to his intelligence and Namjoon too found out about Yoongi being half-werewolf. They both enjoyed their dinner and forgot about their nervousness of being sort to their houses for awhile. It is kind of a big deal, after all. After a hearty dinner, the principal of Hogwarts at the time, stood up in front of the hall and hit a spoon to his glass. The hall went quite almost immediately. She cleared her throats and smiled towards the newly enrolled students.
“Good evening everyone. As we all know, we are here to welcome and celebrate our newly enrolled students to Hogwarts. It is now the time we all have been waiting for.” She then nodded towards one of the teachers and the teacher took out the Sorting Hat.
All of the students from the four different houses cheered and clapped. At that moment, Yoongi looked at Namjoon and grinned nervously. Deep down Yoongi knew he would not be in the same house as Namjoon. He guessed Namjoon would be in Ravenclaw, the house famous for their intelligence and knowledge.
“Mr. Min Yoongi.” The teacher who took out the Sorting Hat called his name. Yoongi nodded and walked to the front of the hall after Namjoon wished him the best of luck. Yoongi sat on the stoll provided and the teacher put the Sorting Hat on him after making sure he was ready.
“Oh, another half-werewolf from the Mins family.” The Sorting Hat started to talk to him.
Yoongi mentally said yes to the Sorting Hat. He was nervous and started searching for his brother in the Gryffindors table. When his orbs finally found the familiar face, his older brother was already looking at him and nodding knowingly to let Yoongi know that everything was alright. Despite him wanting Yoongi to be in Gryffindor, deep down Yoongi knows his brother will support him all the same despite of his house.
“I see ambition. Seems to run in the family blood, eh?” The Sorting Hat chuckled. “Bravery and chivalry are also in you, Min.” Yoongi remembered his brother clasping hands, seemingly assured that Yoongi will be in Gryffindor. “Are you a Gryffindor, Min?” The Sorting Hat asked him while humming, thinking hard of where to put Yoongi. “Interesting, you sure have the qualities of a Gryffindor however lacking a tiny bit of your father or your brother’s recklessness. Calm and calculated, clever. Just like your mom.” the Sorting Hat moved on Yoongi’s head and announced, “SLYTHERIN!”
The House of Slytherin cheered and welcomed Yoongi in their table. Yoongi turned his head towards his brother, afraid of disappointment which may be apparent on his face. However, he only found his brother smiling so hard from ear-to-ear and mouthed a message towards him. “You are always mom’s child!” Yoongi smiled at his brother teasing and finally involved himself in his housemates’ conversation. Yoongi felt relieved.
Yoongi's first two years in Hogwarts went well. He did a great job in his exams and even created a small music club with Namjoon from Ravenclaw, Seokjin from Gryffindor and Hoseok from Hufflepuff. He was excited to start his 3rd year as well as maybe meet the new students. Slytherin has been good to him, but it is definitely getting lonely without the year 6s (who had just graduated). Although Yoongi loved occupying the common room alone, but he now missed the noisy surrounding he was used to.
Yoongi entered the dining hall on the first night of his 3rd year with his roommates, only to be greeted with a strong smell of vanilla mixed with cinnamon. Yoongi was ecstatic. ‘Today’s dessert must be nice.’ He thought to himself. His sense of smell is rarely inaccurate, considering his werewolf hereditance, however today’s dessert contained nothing vanilla nor cinnamon. The smell remained as strong even after the dinner ended. Yoongi tried to brush it off and focused himself on the sorting of the year 1s. Yoongi shifted from his seats to leave a few empty seats for hopefully, new Slytherins students.
Yoongi shifted his gaze towards the Sorting Hat in front of the dining hall when the Principal cleared her voice. However, Yoongi’s attention averted from her to the first boy who was called in front. Yoongi saw a small boy trotting to the Sorting Hat with black cloak tailing behind him. The boy has plump pink lips and cute chubby cheeks with hints of pink. Some wavy black locks shown on his forehead made him looked very adorable and all Yoongi wanted to do right there and then was to take care of him and Yoongi did not even know why.
The Sorting Hat then shouted out, “Slytherin!” which made Yoongi let go of the breath that he did not even realise he had hold the whole time. When the cute boy was making his way to the Slytherin’ table, Yoongi’s heart was hammering, threatening to make its way out of Yoongi’s chest. The boy sat just beside Yoongi, vanilla and cinnamon invading Yoongi’s space. Yoongi could feel his stomach twisted and he suddenly became jittery, unsure of what to do around the boy. In his entire life, never ever Yoongi had been so affected by a smell, it overwhelmed him. The younger looked excited to be in Slytherin and had his gaze on Yoongi the whole time, making whatever Yoongi was experiencing ten times worse.
The younger tried to introduce himself .“My name is J-” But Yoongi could not take it anymore. His smell, his chubby cheeks, his plump lips, his voice. Yoongi dashed out of the dining hall without saying anything to the younger.
After the incident, Yoongi tried his best to avoid the younger. Yoongi was genuinely afraid of the effect the younger’s smell has on him as well as guilty because he just ran out on the younger. Avoiding him during school time was fairly easy, compared to avoiding him in Slytherin dungeon. The younger seemed to be always hanging out in the common room ( Yoongi’s favourite place ) so it was out of bound for Yoongi in the time being. Yoongi now spent his time mostly in the library or his tiny music studio or just in his room. The younger seemed to avoid Yoongi as well, going to his room right away whenever Yoongi was in the common room, or getting help from the other seniors even though Yoongi was around. There would always be tension whenever they were together however the two were not planning to solve whatever was going on between them.
Until one Friday, Yoongi went out of his room at night, trying to find a music score that he might have left in the common room. Going down the stairs from his room, Yoongi could already smell subtle vanilla and cinnamon. Yoongi groaned mentally. He almost went back to his room but he really wanted to continue on the music he was creating. The boy held his breath and grit his teeth while making his way downstairs. In the common room, he found the younger boy was scrutinising on bunch of papers on the table and many papers were scattering at the floor and at the sofa. The younger was so focused on his papers so that he did not realise Yoongi was around. Yoongi saw the mess and cursed in his head because there would be no way he would find his music score without alerting the younger. Yoongi sighed.
“Hi. Excuse me.” Yoongi blurted out. The younger was startled when he heard Yoongi’s voice and his eyes widen when he saw Yoongi. Yoongi scratched his nape. “I need to find a page of my paper that I might accidentally leave behind here. If you don’t mind-”
“Yes, sure. Go ahead, I’m sorry I’m such a mess-” The younger frantically tried to tidy up the space a little, although his actions did not really have much impact.
“No, no, it’s fine-” Yoongi tried to assured the younger.
The younger smiled apologetically and continued to focus on the paper in front of him and quill in his hand. Yoongi then searched for his music score quickly however the younger’s papers were literally everywhere. Yoongi, trying to be a kind senior at least once after dashing out on his junior’s first day, gathered all of the younger’s papers scattered around, in hope of finding his music score. Yoongi read off the papers and saw ‘Park Jimin’ written on every paper. Yoongi got a little glimpse of what subject could make the ever cheerful Jimin frowned and seemed to be hating his whole life, turned out it was Potion, subject Yoongi is excellent at. After much organising, Yoongi finally managed to find his music score but Jimin did not seem to be doing good on his Potion’s assignment. Yoongi did not know how did he find the courage to but he managed out to say, “You need help?”
The younger looked up from his papers, seemingly as surprised as Yoongi. “Y-yes, please."
“Which part are you on?”
“I’m currently on this part,” Jimin pointed out to Yoongi. Yoongi then sat right beside Jimin which caused the younger to squirm a little. Jimin covered up his nose with his hand and leaned towards Yoongi, showing some more of his papers. Yoongi then read the part Jimin pointed out. Yoongi found the mistakes right away and he turned to his right, only to realise how close Jimin’s face was to his. Yoongi then realised how vanilla and cinnamon was filling his lungs. His cheeks turned flushed. Yoongi cleared his throat, “You noted this part wrong, it should have been only a teaspoon of honey instead of two. If you add two, the potion will turn bad as the other ingredients will react with it.”
“Oh! That makes sense.” The younger answered. “Thank you so much,” Jimin said without looking once at Yoongi, still focusing on his papers.
“Ugh, Jimin?” Yoongi called the younger. The younger looked up to see Yoongi’s face, finally realising how close he was to the older. Jimin’s cheeks turned shade of pink and he sat up straight. “Sorry, I do not realise how close I-”
“No, no, it’s fine- It’s just that I want to apologize.” Jimin gave him a questioning look.
“What for?”
“At that time, in the dining hall, I ran out and just left you there without even a proper introduction and things become awkward between us.” Yoongi played with his fingers, trying his best to not look nervous. “I’m so sorry. It’s not your fault at all, it’s just..” Yoongi sighed.
“Just?”
“Your smell overwhelms me.” Yoongi scratched his nape, unsure of where to look at. Jimin’s mouth formed an O. “I do not mean it in a bad way,” Yoongi waved both of his hands, trying to convince Jimin. “Y-you smell good.”
“O-oh. I-it’s alright. No need to apologize. T-thank you for clarifying and y-you smell good too.” Jimin muttered out sheepishly. His face was as red as the Gryffindor’s flag.
“If you want, we can have a proper introduction now. You know, to compensate the first one.” Yoongi smiled and offered his hand. “Min Yoongi. Alpha.”
Jimin gladly accepted his hand before answering, “Park Jimin. Omega.”
When the issue between the two is resolved, somehow, the two become inseparable. Jimin is now a part of Yoongi’s music club who has additional 2 members, Jimin and his friend, Taehyung from Gryffindor. They also unintentionally hog the common room for themselves most of the time (probably because no one feel comfortable to be third-wheeling the two, oh well.). Yoongi often helps Jimin with his homework and Jimin helps Yoongi with his music. Sometimes, they read novels together or play with Charcoal. They have a lot of fun in their own world. Whenever the two are asked if they are dating, the answer will always be a firm no and they will try their best to avoid the topic. The situation goes on for years, even the whole school knows they both like each other, well, except them.
Until the revelation comes unto Jimin. It is Yoongi’s sixth year in Hogwarts and it is almost the time for Yoongi to leave. Jimin suddenly feel scared and uneasy. He is too used to having Yoongi’s presence around him, his intense peppermint with slight musk undertone, his voice, his laugh, even his silence. Jimin does not want Yoongi to leave him. Jimin already forgets his life before Yoongi, and the next two years in Hogwarts without Yoongi will just be so different compared to the last four.
Yoongi can sense the change of mood in Jimin. Jimin smells a little bit different, acts a little bit different as well. Yoongi now feels restless as well. Yoongi then asks Jimin in the Slytherin common room when there are only the two of them. Yoongi sits right next to Jimin and sighs.
“Hey, does anything happen without me knowing?” Yoongi pops the question.
“No, why?” Jimin answers, curiosity lingers in his eyes.
“It’s just that, you change? I don’t know how to explain it. You seem a little bit restless as well.” The elder looks into the younger’s eyes, making sure the younger really mean his answer.
“Oh. Exam is coming so I do feel a little bit stressed.” Jimin does tell the truth, although just partly, Yoongi does not need to know about Jimin’s fear of losing him.
Yoongi then nods. “ You are going to do just fine, Min. You have a great tutor aka me and you are smart as well. Believe in yourself.” Jimin smiles at him, nodding.
On the next day, Jimin meets Yoongi when he is walking to his exam hall. Yoongi wishes him luck before continuing his journey to the next class with Namjoon. Just when Jimin is about to run down the stairs, Yoongi calls his name and approaches Jimin.
“Hey, remember to stay calm, alright?” Yoongi says while taking off his Slytherin scarf and putting it around Jimin’s bare neck. “Just take it as a practice that you’ve done with me.” He pats the younger’s head twice before going back to Namjoon who is waiting upstair. Jimin breathes in and Yoongi’s smell immediately fills his lungs, Jimin does feel a lot calmer now. ‘Oh God, how am I going to survive without Yoongi?’ he mutters in his heart before heading towards the exam hall.
After the exam, Jimin approaches Taehyung, his best friend, who is walking to the library. “Oh God, Taehyung, I’m so screwed.”
“I thought the questions were not difficult?” Taehyung coos.
“It’s not about the exam!” Jimin answers, frustrated.
“You talk about the bloody exam 24/7,” Taehyung rolls his eyes. “I’m genuinely surprised now you are not talking about it. Let me guess, is it about Yoongi?” Taehyung eyes Jimin.
“How do you know?”
“You reek of Yoongi! I could not focus when the whole room smells like someone just poured a bottle of mouthwash in.” Taehyung shakes his head.
“Hey! It’s not that bad.” Jimin protests.
“So, what about Yoongi? Does he finally court you? Please say yes,” Taehyung hold his hands close, wishing whatever he is saying is true.
“No! Yoongi does not court me.” Jimin replies back. Taehyung sighs.
“Oh Lord, have mercy. So, what happened, Mr Park? Care to let me know?” Taehyung stops walking when they arrive in a small garden in the middle of the school block.
Jimin sits on one of the benches in the garden. “I’m just- I- I feel sad and a little bit scared.” Taehyung nods slightly, letting Jimin knows he can continue.
“Yoongi is leaving this year.” Jimin takes a deep breath, enjoying Yoongi’s scent on him a little bit too much. “What am I going to do?” Jimin looks at Taehyung, looking like he is about to cry.
Taehyung sits next to Jimin. “Jimin, you are going to be alright. You have me. Hoseok is still around as well. Remember when Seokjin graduated last year? We were all a huge crying mess. But we are alright now. You can still send letters to Yoongi, just like we do now with Seokjin.”
“But-” Taehyung gives Jimin an expectant look. “But?”
“It’s different with Yoongi. I spend most of my days with him after school, in the club and in common room. It’s going to be very.. Lonely.” Jimin finally says out.
“Do you like Yoongi?” Taehyung asks him.
“Of course, I do! He is a great senior and a great friend.” Jimin quickly answers.
“I mean, romantically.”
“N-no?” Taehyung sighs at Jimin’s answer.
“Alright, let me ask you. What do you think a person who likes other person, romantically, would feel or do around the person?” Taehyung looks at Jimin in the eyes.
“The person would want not want to be separated with the person that he likes? Be with them all the time, enjoy their presence. Sad when they are not around- Oh, fuck.” Jimin stops mid-sentence. “I like Yoongi.”
“About goddamn time, Park Jimin. About time.” Taehyung suddenly stands up and cheers.
“Oh God, Taehyung. What am I going to do?” Jimin becomes even more worried than before.
“Ask him to be your partner in Yule Ball and prepare some gifts for him. The Yule Ball is on Christmas eve afterall.” Taehyung smiles, looking way too excited than he should be.
“Someone else must have already ask him. On a side note, he will definitely reject me.” Jimin replies. The Yule Ball is in two weeks, afterall.
“Oh my god, Jimin. Where was Yoongi on his first Yule Ball, like two years ago?” Taehyung patiently asks Jimin.
“In the music pit with us because we performed?” Jimin answers, not sure of what Taehyung is trying to prove.
“And how about last year?”
“He missed Yule Ball because I was sick and stayed with me instead.” Taehyung nods aggressively.
“So, can you see the correlation between the two?” Taehyung moves his hands animatedly. “Come on, Jimin, use that smart brain of yours.”
“I don’t understand, Tae. He missed Yule Ball for the past two years, so what?”
“Bloody hell. He was with you, Park Jimin. For the past two Yule Ball, he was with you.” Taehyung pinches the bridge of his nose.
Now, Jimin sees the connection. “O-oh..” he whimpers. “Tae, do you think he likes me? Like romantically?”
“YES JIMIN YES! If not, why would he lent you his scarfs, that smells just like him, to you? Why would he spend so much time with you? I swear both of you drive me crazy.” Taehyung answers aggressively. “Now, you are going to ask him to be your partner to Yule Ball and tell him that you like him, romantically.”
A week passed after his conversation with Taehyung. Jimin can not stop thinking about it and he feels like his stomach is going to flip whenever he sees Yoongi. Jimin now starts noticing things he used to ignore, like how delicate Yoongi’s eyelashes are, how cute Yoongi’s nose is and how he really want to hold Yoongi’s hands and they drive Jimin crazy. He often looks into the distance, seemingly in a daze. He is now hypersensitive of Yoongi’s smell as well. Jimin is now convinced that he will ask Yoongi to be his partner to Yule Ball.
The way the two finally become partners for Yule Ball is very anti-climatic compared to the mutual pining the two unknowingly had been doing for the past years. Despite all the ways Taehyung had suggested Jimin to do like maybe compose a song or write letters, Jimin insists he just want to talk to Yoongi right away. Less hustle, more straightforward. However, Jimin is very nervous around Yoongi now that he has realised his feelings for the older.
It is on a Saturday when Jimin asks Yoongi to accompany him walk around the Great Lake just because. Yoongi looks at him weird before finally agree to Jimin’s request despite the snow falling quite heavily on that day, it was nearing Christmas after all. The two talk about a lot of things, like what Yoongi going to do after leaving Hogwarts and like what Jimin’s plan for the winter break. Jimin has not gathered enough courage to ask Yoongi there just yet. So both of them head back to their dormitories. Jimin knows he needs to ask Yoongi now, if not, Jimin will take too much time to convince himself again. Jimin then follows Yoongi to his room, insisting there is something important that he wants to talk about with Yoongi. When the two enters Yoongi’s room, Jimin just stands near the door while Yoongi sits on his bed.
“So?” Yoongi looks at Jimin.
“WillyoubemypartnertoYuleBall?” Jimin mutters the sentence quickly, causing Yoongi to be unable to catch his words. Jimin can feel his cheeks growing hot.
“Can you repeat the sentence one more time?” Yoongi stands up from his bed, approaching Jimin.
“No, no. Just sit there, please.” Jimin requests. Yoongi looks even more confused than before. Jimin takes a deep breath, letting Yoongi’s scent calm his nerves a little bit. “W-will you be my partner to Yule Ball?” Jimin finally able to ask the question he had been meaning to.
Yoongi is a little bit taken aback. He lifts his eyebrows and shade of pink painted his cheeks. “Wow.” Yoongi mutters while looking at Jimin. Yoongi is silent for awhile, his eyes never leave Jimin’s face. Jimin feels a little bit flustered under Yoongi’s gaze but he stands still, waiting for Yoongi’s answer. “Yes, of course, Min. I will never reject you.”
A smiles creeps on Jimin’s face. “Thank you.” Jimin chirps. “A-and one more thing.” Yoongi looks at Jimin expectantly. “I like you, Yoon. Like in a romantic way.” There and then, Jimin dashes out of Yoongi’s room, face as red as a boiled crab. Jimin runs until he arrives at his room and screams to his pillow. Meanwhile in Yoongi’s room, Yoongi still cannot believe what just happened. His mouth is agape, and he pinches his hand, making sure he is not daydreaming. Yoongi lies down on his bed and smiles like a fool until his cheeks hurt.
On the day of the Yule Ball, Jimin waits for Yoongi in the Slytherin’s common room. Jimin has dressed up a little bit, with the help of Taehyung of course, he is wearing his white silk dress shirt, accented with gold harness, with tight black pants and a black fitting coat. Taehyung also helped him did his hair, pushing some of his locks to the side and the back, leaving his forehead exposed. He is reading a book which someone left on the table when he notices the scent of peppermint that he likes and quiet footsteps that follow. Yoongi looks wonderful, as always. He is wearing all black, turtleneck and pants with matching colour, a long black coat with slightly different shade of black and a belt with a serpent in the middle.
“Let’s go, shall we?” Yoongi approaches Jimin with a smile on his face. Yoongi offers his right arm for Jimin and Jimin gladly rests his left hand on it. Both of them stroll towards the hall, excitement bubbling inside of them. When they enter the hall, both of them are stunned with the decoration that had been done. Snows falling on top of the christmas trees, fountains made up of ice at the corner and the feast of food at both sides of the hall. Yoongi and Jimin approaches their group of friends. Namjoon, Hoseok, Taehyung and the Gryffindor’s seeker, a guy Jimin believed called Jungkook are taking their share of dinner when Yoongi and Jimin join in. Laughter erupts from their circle and good food accompanies them, all of them are having a time of their lives.
After the feast, the mood of the music suddenly changes from festive to something more romantic. The master of ceremony announces that it is time for slow dance. Yoongi shots a knowing look towards Jimin and offers his hand for Jimin. Jimin smiles as he takes Yoongi’s hand and walk to the middle of the hall. Yoongi leads Jimin during the dance and Jimin seems impressed.
“Didn’t know you can dance.” Jimin shots a smile at Yoongi, seemingly proud of his partner.
“Practiced with Namjoon or Hoseok for days and it was painful. At least it’s worth it now.” Yoongi chuckles while bringing Jimin a little bit closer than before. Both of their cheeks are blushed, never been this close towards one another before. Jimin is grateful the lights there are dim. During their dance, many of their friends cheer for them, happy that finally the most oblivious pair are in each other’s arm, even though it took them years.
When the second round of the dance ends, Yoongi asks Jimin if he wants to get some air outside. Jimin is more than happy to do so, people’s attention on them kind of drains him out. On their way out, Yoongi holds Jimin’s hand, saying he does not want to lose Jimin in the crowd. Jimin just laughs at Yoongi’s reason, seeing right through it and teasing him because of his lame reason.
Yoongi leads the way to the Astronomy Tower, knowing probably no one in their right mind would climb to the top in the middle of winter night. But Yoongi is crazy and so is Jimin, crazily in love. They just want a private space for them. Yoongi is grateful that the weather is nice so the stars are noticeable, not because he likes observing the constellations or whatnot, more of because he knows Jimin loves it and he just want the younger to be happy. Both of them sits down at the open pavilion which protrudes out of the tower.
“I never imagine you will ask me to be your partner to Yule Ball. Let alone, you saying you like me, romantically .” Yoongi breaks the silence between the two, emphasising the word romantically on purpose just to tease the younger.
“Shut up. I was panicking when I realised you are graduating this year.” The younger giggles as he answers. He leans on Yoongi’s shoulder before continuing, “Taehyung was being extremely patient, trying to make me realise that I like you this whole time.”
“I guess I owe him.” Yoongi rests his head on top of the younger’s. “Took you very long, Min.” Jimin can feel Yoongi is smiling. “I thought you would catch hint of my feelings for you when I lent you my scarf.” Yoongi puts his hand across Jimin’s back and hold his shoulder. “Thought it was a smooth way for me to court you.”
“No, I was dumb. W-wait. Since when do you start liking me? Like, romantically .” Jimin asks while giggling at their inside jokes.
Yoongi laughs in response to Jimin’s question. “I liked you since the first time we met, I guess. I have never been so overwhelmed by a smell before. I immediately sent a letter for my mom, asking her what should I do, am I going to die whenever you are around. She just laughed at my misery and told me that you might be my mate, in short, I’m having a crush.”
Jimin smiles while reminiscing his memories with Yoongi in the past years. He never thought this would happen between the two of them. Hell, why would he? However, he is glad things turn out this way for them.
“Oh! You do not forget, do you?” Jimin rustles through his coat pocket.
“Forget about what?” Yoongi asks, his expression blank.
“We promise to exchange Christmas gift!” Jimin pouts.
Yoongi giggles seeing the younger’s reaction. “Of course, I don’t, sweetheart. You first.”
Jimin nudges Yoongi’s ribs using his elbow, letting the older know he is a little bit irritated. The younger then takes out a bracelet made out of silver and leather with the letter ‘M’ in the middle. The leather twines the silver, looking like a serpent’s body entangling the metal. The older smiles when he sees his gift.
“It’s beautiful, Min-ah.” Yoongi awes.
“I got mine too!” Jimin shows his identical bracelet, circling his right wrist. “The ‘M’ stands for the Min in both of our names and the leather represents a serpent, you know, Slytherin.” Jimin explains animatedly and Yoongi is just so fond. “I get you this so you will always remember me during the 2 years we are apart.”
Yoongi snorts at Jimin’s reasoning. “Oh, come on. I will always remember you and miss you, Min. You know it. But, thank you. It is very thoughtful of you.”
“I know, Yoon. Enough about your gift, how about mine?”
Suddenly, Yoongi takes something out from his coat pocket. It was a plant, of some sort.
“What is that?” Jimin asks out of curiosity.
“Namjoon told me, this is called a mistletoe. In muggle tradition, if a couple is around a mistletoe, they must kiss.” Yoongi tells the story.
“Cute.” Jimin replies.
“So, Jimin, since we both like each other, romantically, would you be my boyfriend?” Yoongi looks at Jimin with a smile. The slightly flushed cheeks and plump lips, oh, Yoongi is so fond.
Jimin laughs, realising what Yoongi is doing. “Yes, yes, of course.”
“Oh!” Yoongi gasps fakingly. “We are around the mistletoe so we should ki-”
Jimin stops Yoongi mid-sentence as their lips meet. Yoongi is surprised by Jimin’s action but he closes his eyes, in reflex. Yoongi feels Jimin’s lips on his and Yoongi thinks to himself of how much he had wanted to do this. Yoongi puts his hand on Jimin’s cheek, slowly caressing it with his thumb. Jimin circles his hands around Yoongi’s neck. Jimin cannot help but smile in between their kiss because Jimin have never feel this happy before, he feels a little bit euphoric. Yoongi breaks the kiss just to see the smile on Jimin’s face after they kissed.
“Just tell me if you want to kiss me, Yoon.” Jimin giggles while pulling Yoongi into another kiss. The kiss (and many more kisses that follows after) is the best Christmas’ gift Jimin has ever gotten.
