Work Text:
Caesar walked in through the front door of the house that he shared with his boyfriend, Joseph. Shuddering, he quickly closed the door and took his scarf off, setting it on a rack beside the entrance. In his right hand were grocery bags, one was full of hot chocolate mix and marshmallows, since Joseph had eaten all the marshmallows and they had no mixes left. The other had candy canes and stocking stuffers for Joseph’s stocking. He naturally assumed that Joseph had gotten some stocking stuffers for him, as well. Though he wouldn’t be surprised if Joseph forgot, but that was apart of the joy that was dating a Joestar. Not that he minded, of course.
Wiping his snow encrusted shoes on the carpet, he headed straight for the kitchen where he set the plastic bags on the counter. The sound of a door opening and footsteps alerted him to Joseph’s presence, but he didn’t acknowledge it. He felt muscular arms wrapping around his torso and a very warm body pressing against his back.
“Caesaaarrr,” mumbled Joseph. “what took so you long? I fell asleep waiting for you to come back. . .”
Caesar gave a light huff of amusement, leaning into Joseph’s touch. “Miss me that much to the point where you couldn’t entertain yourself for a few hours? Not surprising. You know how it gets only a day before Christmas, the traffic and amount of people in the store doing last minute shopping was absolutely horrid.”
Caesar balled up the plastic bag and attempted to turn to throw it away. He was stopped by Joseph, who was still clinging onto him.
“Jojo.”
“Hmm?”
“I need to throw away the bag and go get dressed in more comfortable clothes. You can make the cocoa and start up the fireplace and television.”
“Finneee.” Joseph groaned. He reluctantly let go of Caesar, who turned to enter their bedroom to change.
“I want a candy cane in my cocoa, by the way. And please don’t eat all the marshmallows again this time.” He called out to Joseph.
“You never let me have any joy in my life!” Joseph playfully pouted, before turning to make the hot chocolate with a stupid grin on his face.
After changing into more comfortable clothes, which consisted of flannel pajama pants, a white t-shirt, and fuzzy holiday themed socks. Caesar walked into the kitchen and was greeted by the lovely smell of mint and chocolate. Seeing the two cups, one had a sprinkle of marshmallows with a candy cane sticking out, and the other was piled with marshmallows. Caesar didn’t have to guess which one was his. Joseph was nowhere in sight, so Caesar assumed he was in their living room starting a fire--while simultaneously praying Joseph didn't start a house fire by trying to use Hamon--and picking out a holiday movie for them to watch together.
Grabbing both hot cups of cocoa, he saw Joseph laid up on the couch with a blanket over him, his finger continuously pressing a button on the remote, flipping through channels on the television. Above their fireplace were two stockings, both having their names written on them, respectively. The large, colorful Christmas tree with multiple nicely, and poorly, wrapped presents residing under it gave off a nice atmosphere that felt good. It felt like home.
“I brought the cocoa since you seem to have forgotten it. So disappointing.” Caesar shook his head in pretend disappointment.
“Hey!” Joseph exclaimed. “You know what happens when you give me too many tasks to deal with!”
They both glared at each other in a staring contest, before bursting out in laughter. Caesar handed Joseph his cup and gave him a kiss.
“Here’s your cocoa, love. Anything good on?”
Joseph sighed, taking a gulp of his hot chocolate and placing it down on a table beside his corner of the couch. “No, it’s all grossly romantic stuff that looks boring.”
“I’ll show you grossly romantic.” Caesar said, setting his cocoa down and attacking Joseph’s neck, placing kisses and nipping the sensitive skin.
“Caesar!” Joseph laughed, trying to push the gigantic man off of him, but to no avail. “Caesarrrrr, get off!”
Relenting in his attack, Caesar leaned back, his fist full of the collar of Joseph’s shirt. He gazed into Joseph’s eyes before gently kissing him on the lips.
“I love you, Joseph.”
“Tch, whatever. I love you too, I guess.” Joseph mumbled, a blush rising on his face. Caesar gave a light smile and reached for his cocoa again, pulling the candy cane out and licking it before setting it back into the cup and lightly sipping the liquid.
“You’re cute. Now come on, just pick something to watch already. It doesn’t matter if it’s cheesy romance.” He said nonchalantly, as if the assault on Joseph’s neck never happened.
Joseph scoffed, and shook his head, turning his attention back to the television that he had completely forgotten was turned on. So was he, just a little, but that’s besides the point.
Placing an arm around Joseph’s shoulders and pulling him close, Caesar was content. Joseph leaned into Caesar, taking a sip of his warm drink, and eating some marshmallows in the process.
With the warm fire crackling in the background and watching The Polar Express, and cuddling under a blanket, the two were happy. Their cups were drained and television was still going when Caesar and Joseph fell asleep on the couch, lightly snoring and holding each other until they wake up to open presents the next day.
