A Simple Christmas Kiss

Summary:

Aizawa has worked every Christmas since getting his provisional license. This year, however, a certain blonde hero asks him to a Christmas dinner. How could he refuse?

Notes:

This is cheesy and late for Christmas, but I wanted to contribute.

Also, this is written on my phone so all spelling errors are my own.

As always, shout out to the Twitterverse for being constant inspiration -A

Work Text:

Aizawa worked every Christmas. He worked every New Years Eve. In fact, he'd worked those holidays every year since getting his provisional hero license. He reasoned that these holidays always saw an uptick in crime for, while couples and families focused on presents and giving, criminals focused on taking anything and everything they could. He was needed on the streets to keep the public safe. And it wasn't like anyone ever asked him to do anything for those days either.

Well, that was until Yagi personally invited him over to his friends and family Christmas dinner.

"I don't know, Yagi. I am usually swamped with work on Christmas. Loads of thieves running around. Seems only logical to work for a hero like me." Aizawa stated dryly, his right hand starting to scratch at the back of his neck.

Yagi placed a firm hand on his shoulder. "I am not asking you to give up the whole evening. Just a few short hours with a handful of good people." He spoke with such earnestness and Aizawa found himself drowning for a brief moment in those piercing blue eyes. He really knew he should choose work, but Yagi had been weaseling his way into Aizawa's heart bit by bit these past few months and he didn't want to be a reason for Yagi to lose his smile.

With a reluctant sigh, he agreed. Now he found himself sitting beside Yagi at a giant table, surrounded by a few students, fellow faculty members, and other assorted heroes and officers.

Yagi, adorned in a hideous All Might holiday sweater, stood up mid way through the meal, tapping on his glass to capture everyone's attention. Clearing his throat he began his speech.

"Thank you all for coming today. I am honored and humbled any of you would give up your busy evenings to spend time with me." He winked at Aizawa. A faint blush crept up the younger man's neck, hidden only by his scarf.

'Dammit, this asshole got me. What am I, a thirteen year old hormonal child? So irrational to blush at a wink.'

Yagi continued, "This year has been one of the greatest in my life. I neber thouhht that once I retired from hero workz that I would feel surrounded by so much love. From the Midoriyas who have welcomed me as a teacher and mentor to  Izuku," the two flustered green haired guests waved and muttered nervously at the mention, "to all the officers and heroes here who keep our streets safe. But i am particularly grateful to the faculty of U.A. for welcoming this old man so warmly and being patient as I learn the ropes. Aizawa in particular has been immensely helpful with his patient guidance." Blue eyes were staring at him again. Blue eyes full of gratitude and something deeper. Something warm and almost...loving?

Aizawa tried to strip the thought from his head. There is no logical proof of anything more than friendly admiration going on between them.

The rest of the speech was a blur. Aizawa's brain and heart were at war and he needed to get out of here as soon as possible before he did something really illogical. As everyone started to applaud, Aizawa shot up from his seat and made his way to the door. Loud heavy steps followed.

"Aizawa! Leaving so soon?" Yagi called out.

"I really need to get on patrol." Aizawa slipped in his boots and reached for the door knob when he felt Yagi's hand clasp his. Aizawa slowly turned around, his gaze focused on their hands intertwined

"I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable. If i did anything to offend, I apologize, Shouta."

Aizawa shook his head but before he could respond some of the other guests started whistling. Aizawa furrowrd his brow in confusion, looking past the man holding his hand. "What are you whistling for?"

Izuku blushed and stammered out, "Aizawa-sensei....you and All Might are standing under the mistletoe...which...well it means that you two have to kiss."

Aizawa and Yagi both looked up. Indeed, hanging above them was the little sprig. In slow synchronization, their gazes lowered towards one another again.

Aizawa subconsciously licked his lips
Yagi seemed to take that as an invitation amd before he could reason his way out of it, Yagi pulled him by the hand he was clasping into a simple, sweet, chaste kiss.

As they parted, both men stood blushing. An unspoken acknowledgement of feelings passed between them before Yagi let go of Aizawa's hand.

"Be safe out there tonight and Merry Christmas." Yagi smiled softly.

Aizawa nodded. "Merry Christmas to you too, Yagi."
