Demigods, amarite?

Summary:

Tae is the demigod of love and compassion, one of the sons of Aphrodite. He escapes to the human realm to study humans, where he meets rich, attractive badboy Jeongguk, surrounded by 5 very protective hyungs. Demigod or not, he never failed to make Tae nervous. He never planned on introducing himself however, and he especially never planned on introducing himself by collapsing in his arms.

Notes:

This was originally written on twitter so the first few chapters may be stunted and short. Apologies in advance. PSA I once again forgot how to make this multi chaptered, there will be more. :)

Chapter Text

When Taehyung first woke up, it was to an aching head. Unsure as to why or how his head was aching, he, being the clueless demigod he his, ignored it. Rather than get up straight away however, Taehyung decided to lay around until his alarm clock went off. It still scared him most mornings, even though he’s lived here for almost a year; he’s just not used to all this human technology okay! Taehyung is over 200 years old now, still a baby by Gods standards but you know what? What other 200 year old demigod lives on their own! Take that Mother! Taehyung had ran away when he was 199, off to live in the human realm with other cool and hip young humans and to get away from his stuffy family and dismal future.

Taehyung was absolutely enthralled by the human race, their technological advances and their societies were so different, so new and Taehyung was living for it! So far his favourite piece of technology is the mobile smartphone, he can take photographs! Of himself! Painters were unneeded in this society, but they still had them just for different reasons and he loved it. The culture was brimming and beautiful. Taehyung wanted to learn more about this photography, so when he ran to the human realm the year before (they even have a time construct? What?!) he’d applied for the university he’d been studying back in his home realm. Tae had spent so long studying and researching the human realm he’d felt confident enough to apply.

It was hard to adjust, his potion making didn’t work the same and his flowers didn’t grow as much, but he’d adjusted. Pretending to be human was the most difficult task Taehyung had come across, and because he wasn’t supposed to actually communicate with humans, he’d found it difficult to pick their mannerisms. It’s a curse and a blessing to not be allowed to actually talk with humans.

“Stop it! You shouldn’t call them humans Taehyung, you’re supposed to be one as well!” Taehyung muttered angrily to himself.

He was currently walking to his photography class, at a godawful time in the morning, daydreaming about the human realm again. He really needs to change his schedule, the early mornings aren’t being as kind to him as he’d like. Taehyung had spent the majority of the night before studying new potions to try and help his flowers grow, they weren’t adjusting to the new environment at all, even after a year of trying to convince them to play nice with the soil. It was a work in progress, but it meant he was exhausted 24/7 (see I’m getting the hang of this concept of time!) while trying to balance all of his course work as well.

Taehyung was almost to class when he spotted him leaning on the wall near the lecture hall. Jeon Jeongguk, the most popular boy on campus, and currently the centre of Taes fascination. Jeongguk was cool, rich, the typical ‘badboy’ of the uni, and wherever he is, his 5 hyungs are bound to follow. As if summoned by Taehyungs thoughts, the 5 appeared, smiling brightly at Jeongguk and chatting about whatever popular guys chat about. Taehyung sighs dreamily, before shaking himself awake and continuing to walk to class. Shaking his head hurt, but he wasn’t really paying attention, still set on ignoring it until it went away.

As Taehyung was settling down into his seat, the lecturer entered the room, causing the hall of students to quiet in preparation for the lecture. She stood proud, in the centre of the room and that’s another thing Taehyung was amazed at; how the humans held themselves up so high when in a position as a teacher, as if they’re more superior than the students that could be their age if not older. It was amusing, to say the least, when the professors boasted about their vast knowledge on such a specific topic. Once the room was silent, waiting for the lecturer to start, she cleared her throat as if preparing for an announcement.
“Class, I know that it’s a bit late in the year, but we have a new student joining us and he’s requested that his presence be announced, so that no one was confused as to why he’s joining us during lectures”. Her voice echoed in the near silent room. Whispers immediately piped up and Tae felt the curiosity tugging at his chest. Who would join so late? Who is it? Questions kept bouncing around his head. It’s photography why would someone randomly join half way through?

The whispers only grew louder, until the lecturer coughed to draw their attention back to her. Taehyung had to hold back a giggle, it was ironic how such a small woman has such a large ego, one that he may even say rivals his mothers. Aphrodite wasn’t known for being modest. As his thoughts continued to wonder he almost missed the entrance of the new student, had they not slammed the door open. It startled Taehyung, making him whine a little under his breath for being disturbed from his daydream.
“Everyone, Jeon Jeongguk will be joining us from now on” the lecturer spoke. Taes eyes widened. JEON JEONGGUK?? His head whipped around, making his vision dance a little bit before facing the desk where both the lecturer and he stood. His breath caught short in his chest, blush rising to his cheeks as he gazed upon the only human to have ever caught his eye. “Why must this happen to me” Taehyung whined, “how am I supposed to concentrate now?” He was getting strange looks off the people around him, and he was about to question before he realised. He was speaking out loud. Embarrassment flooded through his veins, making his aching head pound more. See? This wouldn’t be an issue if I could just talk to them would it? ‘Gosh now they think I’m even more weird than before, how will I ever get used to this?’ Taehyung let his head fall to the desk, feeling heavily defeated.

His body aches and his head felt stuffy and gosh it just wasn’t his day today.

Taehyung just wants a friend, being the social creature he was it was difficult to be alone for so long. Thankfully his flowers, while still weak and refusing to listen to him most the time, still talk at night, to keep him company during the long hours of work.

Again, the lecturer clears her throat and coughs lightly, demanding everyone’s attention once more.

“Jeongguk, please take a seat and we can get started on the lecture” she said with a slight nod, as if encouraging a doe to walk. Taehyung didn't want to dwell too much on that analogy, because then he'd go spiralling off into how gosh darn cute Jeon Jeongguk is and then they'd get no where.

Taehyung tried to pay no mind to the lecture from then on because he’d studied enough on photography and this lecturers' textbooks to be able to keep up. (He also needs to stop thinking of Jeongguk and concentrate on making his head stop hurting). No one would mind if he took a short nap right? He’s just, so tired he can barely keep his eyes open. Taehyung was so out of it in fact, head buried deep into his arms, that he failed to hear a thump of a butt hitting the chair next to him or the ruffling of papers as someone settled down, ready for the lesson ahead. Nor did he see the small smile adorning the face of the newcomer sitting next to him as he finally drifted off into dreamland.

Taehyung was shaken awake with a gentle hand and his first instinct was to disarm whoever it was because no one touches him and before you could say stop, he had the perpetrators arm twisted behind their back.
“Ow! What the hell man?” Exclaimed a very familiar voice. Oh no, oh no no no he didn’t!! Taehyung's eyes widen and he lets go immediately, “I’m so sorry!! I didn’t mean it” Taehyung cried, as The Jeon Jeongguk turned around with a stunned look on his face. Taehyung felt like crying, his first interaction with the guy he’s in love with and he attacked him. Embarrassment flooded his system. Taehyung felt lightheaded as he stared at jeongguk, his face was on fire and his stomach felt funny. He had no idea what was happening but he couldn’t focus on it, Jeongguk was right in front of his, staring incredulously at him.
“What was that? Why did you react like that? I was just trying to wake you up!” Jeongguk asked, shock and anger evident in his voice.
“I, I’m sorry. It’s a n-natural reaction” Tae replies, his voice weak. Exhaustion pulled at his limbs, his head felt weird and everything was spinning. “What’s happening? Why is everything moving? Why do I feel funny?” Taehyung thought. Well, he thought it was in his head, until Jeongguk responded to him. He looked mildly concerned now.
“Hey man, are you okay?” He asked, reaching out cautiously. Taehyung couldn’t answer however, his tongue felt like lead so he tried to nod, but even that was a task. The rows of seats were empty, and Taehyung tried to use them as a crutch but he could barely move.
“Taehyung? Do you need help?” Jeongguk asked again. It didn’t register in Taehyungs mind that Jeongguk somehow knew his name, he was trying to figure Out what was going on. This never happened before at home, what’s happening? Sometimes he regrets coming here, so many strange things happen. Now this? ‘God it hurts’. His brain gave one last kick to his head before the pain disappeared and Taes world went black. He collapsed.

Chapter 2

Summary:

Jeongguk joins photography class to be closer the the love of his life

Chapter Text

Today was the day, Jeongguk thought. He was finally going to talk to Kim Taehyung, the gorgeous mystery boy of the university. His hyungs constantly tease him for his little infatuation with him, but Jeongguk doesn’t care. Kim Taehyung was a mystery Jeongguk wanted to solve. Just before class was about to start, Jeongguk was with his hyungs outside of the lecture hall when he caught sight of Taehyung in the corner of his eye. He kept talking with his hyungs because he didn’t want to be rude, but he kept an eye on Taehyung just because. When he saw Tae lean against the wall in what looked like pain, his heart jumped and he almost went to him, but his hyungs kept him busy. Jeongguk loves his hyungs to the moon and back but right then he was ready to fight them. Taehyung starting moving again so Jeongguk supposes he’s okay.

He leaves his hyungs when it’s time to join the class, and the lecturer introduces him like he’s some sort of fawn which annoyed him but it’s whatever he guesses. Jeongguk is much more focused on Taehyung anyway. Slowly he made his way to where Taehyung was sitting, but when he got there Taehyung wasn’t even paying attention so he took the chance to sit next to him. Step one of his plan, complete.

Jeongguk knew something was wrong with the angel to his left when he seemed to pass out during class. He was cute, even when sleeping, but his sleep didn’t seem restful, there was a bright red flush on the tops of his cheeks and his breathing sounded irregular. Still, it looked as if his precious Taehyung hadn’t slept in weeks, so he let him be for now. Taehyung stayed asleep throughout the 3 hour lecture, completely dead to the world around him. He’d missed the announcement about there being a group project and that they were to be partners, to the immense delight of Jeongguk. The end of the lecture came far to quickly in Jeongguks opinion and he sighed with disappointment, before realising Tae hasn’t woken up yet. He seemed even more flushed than before and Jeongguk felt the concern and worry build up in his chest.

Truly studying Taehyungs face, the dark circles under his eyes looked deep and his face was thinner than what was considered healthy. Is he eating right? Someone as precious as him deserves to be taken care of. See, Jeongguk has been watching Taehyung since he arrived last year, completely taken by his beauty and grace. No one knows anything about him, but Jeongguk sees him sometimes in the park, talking to the animals and plants as if he can understand them. He’s an enigma, a mystery, and Jeongguk wants him so bad. He wants to get to know him, to love him like he deserves.

Now, he knows he sounded obsessive, but he’s not okay! He just observed Taehyung if he’s around, it’s not his fault he fell in love with Taehyung, he’s just so, amazing. If only he could actually talk to Taehyung, but it seems he has a chance now! Taking photography was the best decision he’s made all year. Except, right now? Taehyung looks sick, and Jeongguk wants nothing more than to take care of him. So he gently shakes Taes shoulder to wake him up, to take him back home and make him eat soup and bundle up in bed.

He doesn’t expect to be man handled to quickly and efficiently that even his expertise in taekwondo couldn’t defend himself from.

“Ow! What the hell man!” Jeongguk yelled, that fckn hurt! He could hear Taehyung gasp, like he hadn’t realised what he was doing, before he was released. There was a stumble and Jeongguk whipped around to see Taehyung fall backwards a bit. He looked confused and unsteady, he looked scared.

“I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean it” Taehyung gasped. Jeongguk was shocked and maybe slightly aroused, but mostly concerned.
“What was that? Why did you react like that?” Jeongguk questioned.
“I’m sorry, it’s a natural reaction” Tae stuttered out. He looks so lost, whispering about why he was feeling sick. Has he never been sick before? That’s impossible, right? He doesn’t care right now, Taehyung is sick and needs help
“Do you need help?” Jeongguk asked, but Taehyung didn’t seem to hear him. He looked ready to pass out.

And pass out he did, his knees buckled and he fell like a bag of bricks. Jeongguk leaped forward to catch him before he hit the ground and only barely getting there in time. It was awkward to hold him, because there wasn’t a lot of space between the rows, and he thanked the gods that there wasn’t anyone else in the room. That wasn’t his main concern right now anyway, he needed to get Taehyung to his dorm so he can look after him. His dear hyungs will have to wait.

Taehyung woke up in his room, surrounded by his dying plants and a pain in his head, but feeling more rested than he has since he came to this realm. He had no idea how he got here, but he could feel the presence of someone in his home, something he can only do through the runes he placed when he was given the apartment. Not only that, but he could hear banging in the kitchen. Taehyung moved to get up, but the near blinding pain in his head and the bone deep ache rolling through his body in waves made it very difficult. His groan echoed through the one bedroom apartment, and the banging stopped, followed by hurried footsteps. Taehyung had no idea who it could be, because he hadn’t made any friends since he came here.

He waited in anticipation for whoever was in his home to barge into his room, a hand under his pillows to secure the silver dagger underneath. He may be the demigod of love and compassion, but everyone was taught in the ways of combat back home, and no matter how he felt, strange as it may be, he can and will defend himself if the situation arises. He is no weakling, especially in this Realm, no matter what the other demigods and elves say. To say he was shocked when the man of his dreams Jeon Jeongguk popped his head through the door was an understatement. He lets go of the dagger in shock, which seems to be evident on his face if the grin on Jeongguks face has anything to say.
“Jeongguk?? W-why? W-what? What happened? Why are you here? How are you here?” The questions tumble from his lips without filters, but Jeongguk didn’t seem to mind. If anything, his smile grew. Taehyung felt dizzy again, with the overwhelming emotions and the state of his body, and Jeongguks face went from happy to concerned again.
“You collapsed in class, and I caught you and brought you home” he exclaims as he rushes over. Tae only lets out a small huff as he reaches him, unable to really process what was happening.

He felt Jeongguk touch his forehead and hiss as he does, before he is gently pushed back down on the bed.
“You’re really sick Taehyung, you need rest. I’ll take good care of you angel” he whispers to Taehyung.

“How do, you know my name?” Taehyung mumbles his words, and despite him being horribly ill, Jeongguk can’t help but find Tae adorable, attractive and jaw droppingly handsome. He smiles gently as Taehyung drifts back off into the haze his fever has brought on, and shuffled back to the kitchen to continue his chicken soup.

Chapter 3

Summary:

Taehyung and Jeongguk bond a little more

Chapter Text

Jeongguk had just gotten done preparing the chicken soup recipe he got off his hyung Jin when he actually took the time to study Taes apartment. It was beautiful, large open space with floor to ceiling windows and plants everywhere, though they could do with some water. The apartment was well loved and well lived in. It made Jeongguk smile sadly as he realised how much time Taehyung must spend in here, alone. Everyone knows he has no friends, keeps to himself and himself only. A beautiful, gentle boy like him, all alone, makes Jeongguks heart ache painfully. He wonders when he should wake Taehyung up for food. It would be great if one of his hyungs was here to help, but Jeongguk hadn’t wanted to invite more people into Taehyungs apartment without his consent.

He worried at his bottom lip and watched the large grandfather clock in the living room. Time ticked on, trickling slowly into afternoon and Taehyung had yet to stir. During their brief encounter before he had initially collapsed, Taehyung had seemed confused, which was only worsened when he woke not too long ago. ‘Has he ever been sick?’ Jeongguk wondered. He seems too perfect to be sick, but everyone gets sick sometimes. It's necessary to prevent further sickness, all humans get sick. Jeongguk shook his head to rid himself of these thoughts. Never mind that he told himself. He had to focus on helping Taehyung recover first. His Taehyung hyung. The thought made Jeongguk smile and giggle quietly.

As the clock struck four, Jeongguk decided now was good a time as any to wake Taehyung to feed him and supply medicine for him to take. He stood up off the couch and made his way back into the bright kitchen, picking up the soup and water with the medicine before and placing it all on a tray before heading to the only other room in the apartment (bar the bathroom of course). He’d left the door open slightly to hear if anything else happened while he was away, but Taehyung was sleeping when he returned, seemingly more settled than before. Quietly, he placed the bowl and water on his bedside table, leaving the tray with his medicine on a chair in the corner before gently shaking Taehyung awake again. This time when he woke up, he thankfully didn’t attack him; though he looked just as confused as before.
“What are you doing in my room Jeongguk? What happened?” His deep voice, roughed and gravelly through sleep and sickness, brought shivers down Jeongguks spine. He straightened and cleared his throat.
“You collapsed in class, I caught you and brought you home. You’re very sick, and I couldn’t in good conscience leave you to fend for yourself. I apologise for coming into your home without permission.” Was Jeongguks response. To this Taehyung smiled, the first smile Jeongguk had ever seen from him. It was boxy and bright, his perfectly white teeth on display. He was truly beautiful, even his state. Jeongguk felt the blush rise to his cheeks. Damnit he had a reputation to uphold.

“Thank you Jeongguk, I’m glad you stayed. I have no idea how to take care of a sickness. It’s not life threatening is it?” Taehyung asked, wincing as he attempted to sit up. Jeongguk rushed to help him, giggling at the suggestion of the common cold being life threatening.

“Don’t be silly Taehyung, of course not! I’d never let anything happen to you!” Jeongguk giggled again. Well, there goes my filter, guk thinks to himself. Taehyung only smiles at him again, softly.
“Thank you” he said again, whispering this time. He had a look of melancholy on his face that he wasn’t too sure what to do with. Jeongguk didn’t dwell on his slip up too long, instead reaching over to pick up the cooled chicken soup he brought in for Taehyung and motioned for him to take it. It was obvious whatever he had said had made Taehyung reminisce but the look on his face wasn’t happy and his TaeTae deserves to Be happy! His motion knocked Taehyung out of his mind and he looked up at Jeongguk with big questioning eyes, full of cautious hope as he peered down at the bowl and back up at him.
“You made this? For me?” Taehyung asked cautiously. Jeongguk felt his heart clench and he tilted his head slightly, in confusion. Has no one ever made him food before? What about his parents?

“Of course I made it for you! I’m not the ones that’s sick!” Was Jeongguks response. Understanding filled Taeshyungs eyes.
“Ah! Yes, sickness. I’m sick of course it’s for me” there was a questioning tone in Taehyungs voice, as if confused as to what he was saying. It made Jeongguk question again how innocent and sheltered he must have been to not know what to do when sick. Nevertheless, Taehyung reached for the bowl in Jeongguks hands and he smiled at him. It quickly became apparent to Jeongguk that Taehyung wouldn’t be able to hold the bowl without spilling it because his hands were violently shaking. Jeongguk had to internalise his squeal of joy at the idea of feeding Jeongguk.
“Tae, you can’t hold this your hands are shaking too much. Let me feed you okay? Just for now” Jeongguk tells Taehyung. He slumped down a little in disappointment but nodded in acceptance. Jeongguk sympathised with Tae, he really did, but he needed to eat and guk was the only one here to help.
“Why are you helping me? You don’t know me. N-not that I’m not grateful!! I am! I’m just, confused because I didn’t know you knew who I was!” The words tumbled out of Taes mouth, his red cheeks brightening even more, and it made Jeongguk smile at him.
“I know, but I noticed you when you first came to uni. You’re unbelievably pretty Taehyung, and you seem so gentle and sweet. I couldn’t not try to get to know you” Jeongguk responded.

He couldn’t stop smiling, despite the situation that brought the two together. Jeongguk brought the spoon to Taes lips, and his delicate hand wrapped around guks wrist to guide him better. Jeongguks heart stopped. ‘CUTE’ Jeongguk squealed internally. Taehyung had not once let go of his wrist as he fed him, and when he was done he’d drifted off again, still not really believing Jeongguk was here helping him. But he’s a logical person and the wrist he held was real, it was there and he knew that in this realm you can’t Astral Project.

When he woke up again it was morning and the birds were tweeting in the distance. He felt tremendously better, his head was clear and he no longer felt awful. Sickness, Jeongguk had called it. He must remember to write that down in his journal. This thought lead to Taehyung remembering that ‘wow Jeongguk was in his home’, and his plants were whispering in the background about the strange man sleeping on the couch.

Taes eyes widened. The COUCH? He shot up, ignoring the lingering feeling of dizziness and leapt out of bed, clumsily stumbling his way to his living room and low and behold, Jeongguk lay on the couch with a blanket strewn on his prone form. His cute bunny teeth were on display as his mouth hung open, with small snores emitting from the back of his throat. Taehyung held back his squeal, and instead focused on how Jeongguk knew where he lived and how he got into his apartment. He didn’t want to wake Jeongguk up to ask because he must have spent all day taking care of him and for that Taehyung was so grateful. The questions can wait, he supposed, it’s the least he can do. With that thought, Taehyung headed to the kitchen to prepare a breakfast for them both. He pointedly ignored the roses cooing and jarring at him and listened to his cacti’s very interesting conversation on Jeongguks voice as he cooked, a small smile gracing his face.

Half way through cooking the eggs (he’s still learning how to cook traditional korean breakfasts because he’s not that good at cooking!) Taehyung heard a loud thump from behind him and the resounding snickers of all his plants as they laughed at whatever had happened. Quickly turning off the oven, Tae turned around to hear Jeongguk groan from the floor. It seems he’d fallen off in the midst of waking up. He held back his giggle and bit his lips to stop his smile, and rushed to the couch.
“Are you okay?” Taehyung asked curiously, peering over the back of the couch to see Jeongguk. He was rubbing his head with one hand and his hair was a mess, the rubbing not doing anything to help. He couldn’t help it, Tae had let out a tiny giggle and Jeongguks red eyes shot up in surprise.
“Taehyung? You’re sick! You shouldn’t be up!” Jeongguk looked frantic, scrambling up and around the couch to get to Taehyung. Up close Tae could study Jeongguks face even more and as he got into his space to feel his forehead, Tae felt his cheeks warm as he blushed again.
“I’m okay now Jeongguk, you helped me a lot!” Jeongguk didn’t seem to listen however, seemingly determined to feel his head (for what reason he has no idea but it might have something to do with being sick?) nevertheless, Tae gently pushed his hand away and gripped his wrist delicately.
“I promise I’m okay” Tae repeated. He stared into Jeongguks eyes before he sighed and nodded his head, accepting Taehyungs reassurance.
“Soo, this is awkward” Jeongguk said, though there was a hint of humour in his voice.
“Not at all! Jeonggukie, can I call you that?” At his nod, Tae continued,

“Jeonggukie helped me when I wasn’t okay and that was really nice of you so it’s not awkward! Are we friends now? I’ve never had a friend!” Taehyung rambles. He’s excited! He wanted a friend so bad, and it’s not like his parents can see him. Jeongguk looked a bit shocked, though Tae hasn’t really spoken so seeing him talk so much must be shocking. He was about to take it all back when Jeongguk smiled at him with his little bunny teeth poking out.
“Of course we’re friends! I don’t mind helping you Tae, you needed it!” Was his response. Tae couldn’t help the excited squeal he let out and grabbed at Jeongguk to bring him in for a hug. He had immediately hugged back, much to Taes pleasure. He was holding him so tight, Taehyung felt so safe and warm he didn’t want to let go, but he had food to make to thank Jeongguk! Taehyung let go and held Jeongguks shoulders. They were still standing behind the couch, only inches apart. As Tae went to tell Jeongguk about breakfast a phone rang, the shrill noise echoing slightly.

Jeongguks eyes widened before he was rushing to his bag, where Tae saw his currently ringing phone on charge.
“The hyungs!! They didn’t know I wouldn’t be home! Oh no they’re gonna be so mad!” Jeongguk wailed. Taehyung felt the guilt claw at his chest. Did he get Jeongguk in trouble? He was about to apologise when Jeongguk had answered the phone and walked off to talk with them. He hung his head and his shoulders dropped. Shuffling back to the kitchen, Tae sullenly continued with the food, and by the time that he was done and it was all on the table, Jeongguk had made his way back to the kitchen dining table, looking thoroughly shamed.
“I’m sorry for getting you in trouble Jeonggukie” Taehyung mumbled, tugging on his sleeve to get his attention.
“Oh Taehyungie hyung it’s not your fault! they’re all just worried about us. Don’t worry! I’ve been told to ask if they can come over! They’d like to meet you and help you!” Taes eyes widened.
“You’re not mad? They want to be my friends too?!” Taehyung felt the excitement return. More friends?! Feeling completely renewed Tae flopped down onto his chair to eat. Jeongguk had followed, eating slower than Tae with a small private smile on his face. He watched as Tae listed everything he needed to do to prepare for more people coming over, and after he’d finished he was off, getting changed and then tidying up. Not that his home wasn’t already spotless.

Jeongguk just sat back and let Tae bustle around him. He’d texted Jimin hyung earlier to bring him some spare clothes when they made their way over, so he wouldn't look bad. He relaxed into the couch, smiling.

Chapter Text

There was a loud, rapid knock at the door and Tae jumped up, back ramrod straight and eyes wide. “Deep breaths Tae you got this, they’re just normal people” Tae muttered. Jeongguk had begun to find his little muttering endearingly cute and he didn’t stop the smile that had once again spread across his face. He’d been smiling a lot since Tae woke up, and Tae was beginning to wonder if that was just his state of being, because he couldn’t possibly be smiling at whatever he’s doing. This is the Jeon Jeongguk, badass extraordinaire with rich friends and even richer family. He was the cool cucumber of the university.

Tae had been so lost in thought that he almost forgot about his guests that were waiting to be let in, if it hadn’t been for Jeongguk clearing his throat.

“The door!” He screeched. Jeongguk had let out a full belly laugh as he watched Tae scramble over the couch and to the door, panting heavily as he got there.

“Tae please be careful! You’re still recovering!” Jeongguk yelled, still trying to hold back his laugh. He only received a very put out looking Tae before he’d opened the door.

Once the door had swung open, he was faced with 5 pairs of curious eyes. He felt the blush rise in his cheeks again. It seems that ever since falling sick, all Tae had been doing was blushing. (It was a concept he learnt about when joining this realm, it’s truly fascinating).

“H-hi there! I’m T-Taehyung! Would you like to come in? Jeongguk is waiting for you” he stammered out. He was nervous damnit he’s never been around this many people and had to talk to them! What if he messes up? A chorus of hellos brings Tae back out of his mind and he jumps slightly, before giving them all a wide smile and opening the door more, to allow everyone in. All at once, they all seemed to move, causing them to get stuck in the doorway and Tae forced his giggle down. He watched in amusement as they all looked confused, and then the arguments started. For only 5 guys? They made one hell of a ruckus.

“Uhm, guys? You’re embarrassing me in front of Taehyung, can you not?” Came Jeongguks voice. There was a grin on his face but his eyes looked pained to see his hyungs acting like children. He couldn’t hold his laughter in any longer and Tae bent in half as he laughed. It wasn’t his cute delicate giggles that Jeongguk has had the wonderful pleasure of hearing all day, but a full body laugh, and seeing him so happy made Jeongguks heart feel full.

“Alright then boys, one at a time and don’t forget to take your shoes off!” One of the boys instructed. Tae didn’t see their face, but seeing as everyone paid attention and did as they were told, he’d assume that it was Kim Seokjin, the oldest member of their little group. Like troopers, they all filed in and placed their shoes on the guest shoe rack, before following Jeongguk back to the living room and Tae had just stood there in slight awe, his chest still feeling tight from the sickness he had but heart feeling light.

“Taehyung! Hi, I’m Seokjin, call me hyung okay? Sorry for intruding and thank you for having us over! We brought food to compensate” once again Tae was shaken out of his head, coming face to face with the Kim Seokjin. He was holding his hand out, and it was only Taes quick thinking that remembered that when humans greet each other they sometimes shake hands. Silently, he thanks his mother that he watched so many of those weird drama things on the contraption humans call a TV.

Shaking Seokjins hand gently, they smiled at each other.

“I’m glad you brought food, I kinda, can’t cook? I mean I tried and all but things kept burning and there was a weird smell and lots of noise and Jeongguk pulled me out of the kitchen and told me not to worry about it because his Seokjin hyung would have it covered and” Taes ramble was cut short

“Hey it’s okay, relax. No need to be nervous! We’re all easy going here” Seokjin soothed. Tae took the chance to take him in, his easy posture and soft smile. His eyes held concern and once again there was a hand on his forehead and he still doesn’t know why. Whatever the reason, Seokjin only looked more concerned with the result.

“Come on, you need to sit down” was all Tae got before being guided to the living room (shouldn’t it be the other way around? It was Taehyungs house after all. The rest of the boys had made themselves comfy on the excessive amount of couches he had, and he could see the food they had all brought over on his coffee table (he still doesn’t understand why it’s called that). The noise they were making quieted down as both Tae and Seokjin made their way to the spare space on the couch in the middle, next to Jeongguk to be precise.

“Hoseok, be a darling and get taehyung a glass of water would you?” Seokjin asked in a sickly sweet voice. Said boy jumped up, rushing to the fridge with an “you got it hyung!” without a question. With all the attention now on him, Taehyung could feel the tension in the room. It made him uncomfortable.

Before he could say anything though, Jeongguk stood up. “Guys, maybe we should introduce ourselves to Tae, Yeah? He knows who I am of course, so instead of staring at him like he’s some alien, tell him your names” he stated.

“Jeongguk! There’s no need to be rude!” Seokjin gasped. Tae intervened before an argument could break out.

“Yes! Introductions! My name is Kim Taehyung and I’m a photography major! I’m 22 years old and I’m new to the city, relatively.” He smiled hopefully, big doe eyes looking around the boys with that hope sparkling brightly. ‘Hoseok’ walked up to him with a water bottle in his hands “hi! I’m Jung Hoseok, 24, And I’m a dance major, nice to meet you!” he said cheerily. And so they went down the line from there, starting with -

“Hi Taehyungie! Can I call you that? My name is Park Jimin, im 22 and I’m also a dance major! But I also have a minor in music with a focus on vocals! Nice to meet you” the pink haired Jimin said. Tae thought that if humans could speak emoji, it would be Jimin. He’s all hearts and flowers and wow cute much? And then

“My name is Min Yoongi, I’m 25 and I’m a music production major” his voice was deep, but the smile he gave Tae had his heart beating fast. Gosh they’re so cute! And last but not least, the tall blonde haired beauty “my name is Kim Namjoon! I also major in music production but I have a minor in philosophy! I’m 23 years old” by gosh his dimples were the cutest things Tae had ever seen since being blessed with Jeongguk. Now that they had all been introduced, they were all settling in nicely and had started chatting comfortablely with taehyung. Being as tired and put out as he was, Tae didn’t realise he was snuggling happily into Jeongguks side, gently drifting off to the sound of laughter.

Tae was only vaguely aware of being moved from his comfortable position on the couch, having exhausted himself trying to keep his home clean. When he woke again, he was in his bed. Confusion clouded his already muddled brain and he sat up slowly, trying to sort through his memories of the day before. He has friends now. Tae couldn’t stop the grin from attempting to split his face open, confusion was replaced with joy and he bolted out of bed. Did they stay? Or go home? Gosh he was such a bad host, falling asleep on his guests like that, that’s not what happens in the dramas he watched! Oh dear what if they hate him? He ran to the living room not really knowing what to look for but knowing he needed to at least check anyway.

When he arrived, the room was as spotless as it was when he cleaned for everyone’s arrival and for a second Tae was shocked. They cleaned his living room and kitchen for him? That was the second nicest thing someone has ever done for him and he could feel his eyes sting with tears. His plants were unusually silent as he took everything in, and then he heard a loud snore coming from the couch and they all burst into laughter. He held back his giggle again and made his way to the couch. Who would’ve stayed? Jeongguk maybe? He has been the sweetest since Tae had fallen sick after all, it would make sense; but when Tae peered over the edge, he didn’t find Jeongguk there, but Jimin, the adorable boy he had taken a liking too when they first met. He reminded Tae of when he was young and still happy at home.

Across the room on the other couch lay Yoongi, curled up into a small ball with one of his throw blankets over him. Yoongi had interested him, he was quieter than the rest of the group but still spoke a lot with his actions and facial expressions and it spoke to Taes heart. He got it, feeling unable to verbally express his feelings. Something bittersweet tugged at his heart for a second, before he shook himself off and told himself he better start on breakfast. Tae repeated the same process as yesterday, making eggs and toast and was in the process of making bacon when there was noise coming from the living room again. It was like time repeated itself for a second, and Tae had heard another thud on the floor but decided that he’d better stay with the bacon lest he burn it again.

As Tae focused on the bacon again, his Hyacinths were chattering playfully with each other about who knows what and there was a shuffling across the floor.

“Taehyung?” Jimin asked softly, and even though Tae knew someone was coming he still jumped slightly in fright. Heartbeat racing, he turned around with a smile

“Yes Jimin? What’s up?” Tae responded. Jimin was leaning against the breakfast island table with his hair a mess, a slightly dazed look on his face and it made Tae smile more. He was so cute!

“Nothing, I sorta wanted to apologise for crashing on your couch but Jeongguk couldn’t miss anymore classes and we didn’t want to leave you alone just yet, in case the sickness came back” even though Jimin still looked tired, the words tumbled out of his mouth quickly like he was scared and Tae would not have any of that. He swiftly moved to Jimin and gathered him up in his arms, like he’d seen in he dramas because this is what you’re supposed to do when someone is distressed, right? It happens in the dramas so of course it is.

“It’s okay Jimin! It means a lot that you wanted to stay and look after me, don’t worry about it! You can stop stressing now” he assured and while Jimin initially had seemed shocked, was now melting into Taes arms and they stood and held each other for a while. The anthurium cooed their approval before there was a screech of BACON!!! And Tae all but leaped back to the oven to turn off the hob. There was a tinkling laughter coming from Jimin and Taes heart only filled more. For a group of ‘bad boys’ they sure are the cutest bunch Tae has ever met.

The day was spent getting to know Yoongi and Jimin, both not letting him do anything other than sit on the couch and go to the bathroom. It was faintly frustrating but more endearing that they were worried for him even though they’ve only just met. He was intrigued by yoongi, who seemed a bit rough due to his tired appearance but is an actual sweetheart; he even asked for instructions on how to care for his plants properly rather than just pouring water on them. His plant friends were very grateful. They’d all taken to Jimin and Yoongi like they had Jeongguk, which made Tae’s heart warm and his chest feel full.

As the day was slowing down and Jimin and Yoongi not seeming to have any intentions of leaving just yet, Tae could only speculate on the potions he planned on making to make sure this ‘sickness’ can be cured immediately. He knew he’d need some herbs and flowers, along with some tree roots and maybe a dash of animal fur? He’s not too sure, he’ll have to check his potions book when he gets the chance. Since it’s a human illness, Tae can only assume all the ingredients he’d need would be in the human realm. As much as he loves the fae and elves, they’re quite hard to bargain with and even harder to leave the realm; they were very clingy, the fae especially. Oh god forbid he’d need ingredients from a realm he hasn’t explored yet, he’s only young! He’s not had the chance to visit the dragons and the dwarves and unicorns okay? It’s not his fault. He had to get out of the realm of gods and fast, he couldn’t stay there, he’s not been able to explore.

“Hey Jiminie hyung?” (In human years he’s technically younger than everyone but Jeongguk, so he’s gotta keep up the pretences ) Jimin makes a noise to show he’s listening, but his head doesn’t turn from where it’s glued to the tv. Tae isn’t sure what drama is on, but it’s hilarious and the girl is adorable, but he isn’t paying too much attention.

“Not that I mind if you guys stay, but are you going to be leaving tonight? I’d feel bad if you slept on the couch again. I heard it’s not good for your back” Tae pouts. Yoongi snorts from his position by the windows, watering his lilies. They’d been complaining about lack of attention so he had sent Yoongi to tend to them for a while. The question had Jimins head turning, an eyebrow raised.

“The boys were hoping to have another movie night and then Seokjin hyung is gonna check up on you and if he clears you, we’ll go home. As comfy as your couches are, my back does actually hurt” there is a hint of mirth in Jimins voice and Tae is getting used to picking up on sarcasm and humour, or so he’d like to think, so he sends him a grin and nod in response.

There’s a low chatter that only Tae can hear, and it’s difficult to get all his flowers to be quiet. He thinks that maybe he should get a ‘familiar’ in a sense, or so the humans call them. Since he’s not a witch, they aren’t the same, but they are. Humans won’t be able to see them if he so wishes, and they control his power more than they channel it; it’s also an easier way of controlling his unruly plants when there’s company around. He mulls it over in his head, weighing up the pros and cons of getting a familiar. It could literally be anything, from any realm, and wouldn’t that be fun? He could have a Phoenix! No, that’s too big and not like him at all, but he could and that’s the point, he could have anything.

His thoughts wonder back to Jeongguk, handsome, kind, cute as a button Jeongguk. A bunny. A strong, handsome bunny. Tae sighed dreamily, completely missing the knowing smirk from Jimin and Yoongi's insufferable sigh in the background. They’d figured out pretty early on about Taes infatuation with Jeongguk, everyone had. Bar Jeongguk that is. Both of them are idiots.

Nothing happened for a while, each boy doing their own thing. Yoongi hasn’t left the plants alone, but was just flirting about them all, murmuring to them about whatever, Jimin was still thoroughly invested in the drama, and Tae was still daydreaming about his life with Jeongguk. It was peaceful, until there was a loud obnoxious knock on the door that gave them all a fright.
