Jungkook hated losing. Sure, everyone likes to win, but Jungkook took it to a whole new level. To say he was competitive was an understatement. Whatever it was, he would keep trying it again and again until he perfected it. Which is why he was determined to defeat Taehyung. It was a matter of pride.
“Face it, Kook. You’re never gonna defeat me!” Taehyung cackled. Jungkook wanted to wipe that annoying smirk right off his face.
“This isn’t fair! I’m playing this game for the first time. It’s not my fault that you practiced playing it for a week before inviting me!” Jungkook whined.
“Well, it’s not my fault either. You can’t blame me for wanting to be better than you at something for once.”
Jungkook grunted. “You just wait; I bet I can defeat you at least once this night.”
“If you don’t, you’ll have to wear your bunny onesie for an entire day, wherever you go. And keep a carrot in your hands all the time.”
Jungkook’s eyes widened. There was no way in hell he was going to do this. Just as he was about to refuse, he caught sight of Taehyung’s teasing smirk. It was as if his best friend was expecting him to say no. He cleared his throat. “You’re on.”
It lasted for almost half the night. At the end, Jungkook was sleepy to the point where he could sleep even on the road. But at least his dignity was intact. Finally having defeated Taehyung, he was walking back to his apartment. Fortunately it wasn’t far from Taehyung’s, or else he would really have fallen asleep in the middle of the road.
As he opened the door, he was met with complete silence. There was a dim light in the hall which casted eerie shadows all over the room, but Jungkook didn’t care. He just wanted to sleep. It didn’t help that there was a whole day of unpacking ahead of him, as he had moved into the apartment that very day. He had found that a similar university student was willing to share his apartment. It was beneficial for the both of them. It certainly helped to lessen the rent per person, which was why Jungkook readily agreed and moved in. Plus his flatmate, Jimin, seemed really nice.
Jungkook quickly stumbled into his room. Without changing his clothes, he practically fell onto the bed and immediately went to sleep.
When Jungkook opened his eyes, the first thing he noticed was the room. It seemed different. Dismissing the thought, he looked to his side and saw a shocked face staring at him. The said face was of Jimin, his mind supplied him. He frowned. “What are you doing here?”
Jimin looked offended, as if the question was somehow wrong. “You tell me, what the hell are you doing in my bed?”
Jungkook blinked. Maybe he was still in a dream. It would certainly explain why his flatmate was looking so angelic, with his blond hair creating a halo around his head due to the morning sunshine. His eyes were pretty, too.
Jimin cleared his throat. He looked pissed. “So?”
The younger looked around the room. From what he remembered, it certainly wasn’t his bedroom. All of a sudden the earlier night came to his mind. He was sleepy, but there was no chance that he would enter the wrong room, right? But the more he thought about it, the more he was sure that it was exactly what had happened. He felt his face heat up. “Uh, I’m so sorry! I honestly was so sleepy last night that I didn’t even notice the surroundings. I didn’t know that I entered the wrong room. I thought the bed was empty!” he babbled. “I didn’t mean to do it, I swear! Now you probably think I’m weird and careless and-“
He was cut off by the sound of Jimin giggling. The older’s eyes turned into little crescents, and he brought his hand to cover his mouth. “Jungkook, you’re babbling. It’s fine, anyone can make such a mistake. I don’t think you’re weird, in fact you’re simply adorable!”
Jungkook blushed. There was a weird feeling in his stomach, but it was probably relief. Now that he knew that the older wasn’t mad at him, he realized the hilarity of the situation. Soon enough both of them were laughing uncontrollably, and Jungkook was sure that the decision of moving in had been absolutely correct.

Jungkook couldn’t sleep. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to sleep, he simply couldn’t. It was all because of Namjoon.
Jungkook’s friend, Namjoon, had needed a place to crash that night. Jungkook, being ever so helpful, had offered his place, specifically his room. He knew that Jimin wouldn’t mind. They weren’t super close friends yet, but they got along well. However, Jungkook was seriously regretting his helpful nature. Namjoon, to put it in simple words, was snoring. A lot.
Finally deciding that simply staring at the ceiling wouldn’t help, he made his way to the kitchen. He was greeted with the sight of a sleepy Jimin drinking a glass of water. When the blond caught sight of Jungkook, he almost choked. Coughing once or twice, he looked at Jungkook. “Jungkook? What are you doing here at this hour?”
Jungkook smiled. It was more like a grimace. “Joonie-hyung’s snoring and I can’t sleep. I want to sleep. I need sleep.”
Jimin looked at him sympathetically and thought for a moment. “You can sleep with me,” he mused. “My bed’s large enough for both of us, as it was kindly proved by you some weeks ago.”
Jungkook looked at him uncertainly. “You sure? I can sleep on the couch if it’s an inconvenience.”
Jimin ushered him into his room. “Of course I’m sure. Besides, you have a test tomorrow, don’t you?” Jungkook nodded. “You need to sleep.”
Jungkook pulled the older into a quick hug. “Thanks, hyung. You’re my savior!”
Jimin smiled and ruffled the younger’s hair. “Now go to sleep.”

“Why did I let you convince me, you brat?” Jimin groaned, putting his head into his hands. Currently, both of them were on Jimin’s bed, having their Friday night movie tradition. It was an unspoken agreement between them that on each Friday night, they would watch movies together.
“Because you can’t resist my charms,” Jungkook grinned. He had convinced Jimin to watch a horror movie, despite the older refusing profusely. Jungkook personally found the movie boring and not scary at all, but Jimin apparently didn’t think so, if the way he gripped Jungkook’s hand was any indication.
“I swear if something happens to me tonight and I’m killed, I will haunt you forever as a ghost and take my revenge.”
Jungkook laughed, but something about the blond’s expression made him pause. He’s serious, he realized. “You’re actually scared, aren’t you?”
“Congrats, how did you find out? I absolutely haven’t been telling you this for about an hour,” Jimin deadpanned. “It’s your fault that I’m going to sleep with the lights on.”
Jungkook would be lying if he said he wasn’t feeling at least a little bit guilty. After all, it was kind of his fault; he had practically forced Jimin to watch the movie. “I…. I’ll sleep with you if you want,” he suggested.
Jimin looked surprised, but there was a glimmer of hope in his eyes. “Really?” He cleared his throat. Then, in a more firm voice he continued,” I mean, you ought to. It’s the least you can do for me.”
As they got under the blanket, Jungkook turned to face Jimin. In a deep voice, he said, “Don’t you worry now, my lord. I will protect you from evil with all of my heart.”
Jimin giggled and hit Jungkook’s shoulder weakly. “Shut up and sleep.”

Jungkook woke up suddenly, covered in sweat. His heart was racing so fast that he was sure it would burst. He was terrified. Without thinking, he hurriedly walked towards Jimin’s room.
It was dark, except for the dim light that Jimin never slept without. Jungkook loved to tease Jimin about it, and Jimin would always reply that ‘it a gift from his mother so he used it’ and that ‘it had nothing to do with his fear of darkness or ghosts.’ As if Jungkook was going to believe that.
By now, a few stray tears had rolled down his face. He was practically shaking. He quickly woke Jimin up, only feeling a bit guilty for disturbing his peaceful sleep. Jimin woke up with a start. As soon as he saw Jungkook, his shocked eyes turned into concern. “Kookie? What happened? Are you okay?”
“Nightmare.”
Jimin immediately pulled Jungkook into his bed and wrapped his arms around him. He gently rocked him back and forth, until Jungkook’s shaking subsided. “You want to talk about it?”
The younger shook his head fervently. “Not-not now. I-I just-“
Jimin shushed him. “It’s okay, we can talk about this tomorrow. Don’t worry about it right now. I’m here, aren’t I?” He lay back on the bed along with Jungkook and pulled him closer.
They fell asleep like that for the first time, legs tangled and both wrapped up in each other.

Tonight was another one of their Friday movie nights. This time, though, it was a cheesy rom-com, much to Jimin’s insistence. Today they were propped up on Jungkook’s bed, with Jimin’s head on the younger’s shoulder. It was little things like this that made Jungkook feel a different kind of feeling, one he couldn’t describe. It was as if you were on a rollercoaster, just before the big drop. It was scary, but a thrilling kind of scary, one you anticipated.
Nevertheless, he certainly liked it.
While he was lost in these thoughts, he didn’t notice that the movie had ended, and that Jimin was talking to him. “-right, Jungkook?”
The younger quickly snapped back into reality and sheepishly said,” Uh, I wasn’t paying attention, hyung. Sorry.”
Jimin pouted, and Jungkook had an urge to coo at how cute he looked. “You don’t pay enough attention to me, Kookie. I’m sad.” He suddenly yawned. “Well, I’ll head over to my room now. Good night, Kook.”
Just as he was about to get off the bed, Jungkook acted impulsively. Without thinking, he grabbed Jimin’s hand and stopped him from going. Jimin looked at him curiously.
“Sleep with me, hyung.” He didn’t know where this burst of confidence had come from, and realized that if Jimin asked him the reason, he wouldn’t be able to tell him. Curse his impulsiveness. “I mean-“
“Okay.” A single word shut Jungkook up. The older had a faint blush on his cheeks, but at least he didn’t question him.
Jungkook felt that indescribable feeling again, stronger this time. “Okay.”

Jungkook was curled up on his bed, arms wrapped around himself. He cursed his stupidity. How could he even think that Jimin might like him back?
But even as he thought so, Jungkook had his answer. Recently, he and Jimin had developed a different kind of bond. They were still close friends, but the air was charged with something more, or at least Jungkook had thought so. He could even say with conviction that they had lightly flirted a few times. But he supposed that it was just harmless flirting for Jimin.
After all, Jimin liked another guy. The said guy was Yoongi, a genius rapper who was older than both of them. He was dead smart, and had an aura that intimidated anyone who was talking to him. Of course Jimin would like him; they were good friends, and Jimin always talked about how he knew him better than anyone.
Curse Jungkook’s stupidity.
Suddenly, the door of his bedroom opened slowly. Jungkook closed his eyes, knowing that there was only one person who could enter his room at such an hour.
Jimin poked his head inside, then walked until he was right beside Jungkook. “Kookie, I know you’re awake. There’s no point in pretending.”
Damn it.
Jungkook opened his eyes and sighed. “What do you want?”
Jimin sat down next to the younger. “You know what. Why have you been ignoring me? Did I do something wrong?”
Jungkook didn’t answer. How could he tell Jimin the truth? The answer was: he couldn’t.
“Speak up, Jungkook.” Jimin’s voice had lost its softness and had become cold. “You can’t just start ignoring someone all of a sudden! If you don’t want to be friends, fine. At least tell me the reason,” he pleaded.
Jungkook couldn’t stand the way Jimin looked so broken and sad. After all, he liked him and cared for him. “Alright. But hyung, you have to promise that you’ll not hate me.”
“Nothing can make me hate you, Kook. I promise.”
Jungkook took a deep breath. “I like you. As more than friends.” He saw Jimin widen his eyes and open his mouth to say something, but Jungkook motioned for him to stay quiet and listen first. “I know that you like Yoongi-hyung-”Jimin furrowed his eyebrows”-and I’m not saying that you should reciprocate my feelings. I just, I can’t bear the thought of you two dating, so I decided to keep my distance and get over you. It didn’t work, but I’m sure it will in a few days, or months, or.... What I’m saying is, just give me some time and I promise I’ll be back to normal.” He slowly looked up to see Jimin’s reaction.
Jimin was in a state of shock and confusion. He held up a hand. “Wait a second. First tell me, how the hell did you decide that I like Yoongi-hyung?”
Jungkook frowned. “Well, you both are really close. And yesterday as soon as he came into our flat you hugged him and he lifted you- or tried to- and I realized that you like him.”
“You idiot, I was so happy because he had just told me that he had passed the audition of a big entertainment company. Why wouldn’t I be happy?”
“Oh, give him my congrats then,” Jungkook said offhandedly. “But why am I an idiot?”
“You want to know why?”
Jungkook nodded.
All of a sudden, Jimin pulled him close, so close. Jungkook could kiss him if he decided to.
Jimin’s gaze travelled from his eyes to somewhere downwards, then back to his eyes again. “This is why,” he whispered.
And then he kissed him.
Jungkook froze for a second, then he responded eagerly. Their lips moved in sync, as if they had done this a thousand times. Jimin slid his hand into Jungkook’s hair and the younger pulled Jimin, until he was lying on the bed and the blond was on top of him. Jimin smiled against his lips.
When they finally parted for air, Jimin moved so that he was lying beside Jungkook. He laughed. “I guess we won’t need one bed now.”
“I call dibs, my bed is more comfortable!”
Needless to say, they didn’t sleep in different rooms again.
