“Hey, are you from Tennessee?”
“Hyung, what-”
Yoongi smirks, leaning across their kitchen counter in what Jimin guesses is an attempt to seem suave, “ ‘Cause you’re the only ten I see.” He winks too, for good measure.
“Uhm.. I’m from Busan, hyung.”
Yoongi rolls his eyes fondly and whispers, “Play along.”
So, Jimin sits back down and folds his hands neatly in his lap, waiting to find out what the actual fuck Yoongi is doing.
“Kiss me if I’m wrong but..”
Giggling, Jimin shoves his hand against his mouth to muffle the noise, but Yoongi’s goofy attempt at flirting makes it hard.
“Dinosaurs still exist right?”
Yoongi bites the inside of his cheek trying to keep a straight face, while Jimin bursts into loud laughter, frame shaking and hand clutching his stomach.
“I was wondering if you have an extra heart, it seems mine has been stolen.”
This time Jimin replies, “I’m afraid not, mine has been stolen as well. A short, grumpy man that tries to act serious but is actually a big goofball on the inside. He’s totally whipped for me, too.”
Yoongi mutters under his breath, “Damn true.”
He leans even further on the counter, legs slipping dangerously under him and Jimin only giggles more.
“Well then, he’s really lucky to have someone like you.”
Yoongi just smiles in that fond way like he’s falling in love all over again. He speaks quietly.
“He is.”
Jimin flushes and reaches for Yoongi’s hand. He admires the contrast of their skin tones, and how small his hand looks in Yoongi’s.
“What brought this about, hyung?”
He’s curious because while he loves it, Yoongi’s rarely like this except for when-
Oh.
Yoongi acts like this when he’s trying to cheer Jimin up. He goes all goofy and silly, just to make Jimin smile again.
It makes Jimin almost feel like crying, because his lover’s so sweet. He must have noticed that Jimin hasn’t been feeling that great these day, that his confidence’s been low ever since he didn’t get into the dance school he wanted.
Jimin thought he was hiding it pretty well, but he should’ve known Yoongi would pick up on it.
Because Yoongi prides himself on being able to read Jimin well, know how to make feel better, to keep him happy.
So really, he shouldn’t be this surprised.
“I have a right to romance my boyfriend, do I not?” He asks, and Jimin knows that it’s not the real reason.
“Of course you do, but..” He pauses, pressing a kiss to his knuckles, “Is there really no other reason?”
Yoongi sighs, but he doesn’t sound upset. “Was I that easy to figure out?”
He leads them over to the couch. They sit like they usually do, Jimin’s legs thrown sideways on over Yoongi’s lap, his head against Yoongi’s chest and Yoongi’s hands supporting his lower back.
“You seemed kinda down these days, Jimin-ah. I just wanted to make you smile again.”
Jimin isn’t sure whether or not to tell him the real reason behind him being sad. After all, Yoongi loves him and would make him feel better, right?
“I.. uhm..” He sighs, trying again. “I haven’t been feeling well recently because I didn’t get into this dance program, hyung. I didn’t tell you, and I’m sorry I didn’t, but I just really wanted to not bother you or uhm..”
Yoongi cups his cheek, “You’re not a bother, Jimin-ah. You can always tell hyung.” He pauses, finger stroking his cheek tenderly, “And I’m sorry you didn’t get in.”
He grumbles, “They must be idiots to pass on you.”
Jimin giggles lightly at Yoongi’s comment, head falling into his shoulder.
He can feel Yoongi smile above him, his hands rubbing against his back.
“I love to see you happy, Jimin-ah, and I want to be there for you when you’re sad, okay? I’m here for you.”
Jimin almost wants to cry at his sweet words, grip tightening around Yoongi’s body. He’s so lucky.
“I’m so lucky to have you.”
“Mm, no. I’m lucky to have you.” Yoongi refutes.
“Incorrect.”
“Ah, but see Jimin-ah, I am older than you so I’m wiser so in fact, I’m the lucky one.”
Jimin snorts, face lighting up with a grin; “I love you.”
“I love you too, Jimin-ah.”
He stops, and that smirk is on his face again and oh god-
“You know, Jimin-ah, penguins mate for life.”
He stifles another laugh and replies, “And?”
“Will you be my penguin love?”
Jimin doesn’t bother to hold back his laughter, his whole body shaking against Yoongi’s.
“Huh? Why are you laughing, I’m just asking you to be my Antarctic lover for life!”
Yoongi’s face is completely serious, as if he’s genuinely confused.
“I’m being serious here, Jiminie. Be my flipper wielding, fish eating, mate for the rest of our penguin lives.”
“O-oh my god, hyung, I can’t breathe holy shit-”
“If we were penguins, Jiminie, I’d give you all of my fish. That’s true love right there.”
“Oh god I think my lung is gonna-”
Yoongi’s face lights up, “I’ll make a big igloo for you.”
Jimin loses it, just at Yoongi’s face. “B-but penguins don't live in igloos.”
“Hmm, but you’re so spoiled, you’d want one.”
Affronted, Jimin gasps and hits Yoongi on the shoulder. “How dare you!”
Yoongi presses kisses along his neck, as a way of apology. “I’d still build you one. I’ll do anything to make you happy, Jimin-ah.”
Jimin feels guilt starting to eat away at his insides, gnawing up everything nice and warm Yoongi gave him. “I.. I’m really sorry I didn’t tell you sooner. It’s not that I don't trust you, I just.. I don't want to be a burden.”
Yoongi shakes his head. “Don't apologize, Jimin-ah. I said it earlier, I’m here for you.”
“Okay but, if you’re sad then you have to tell me too, okay? I’m here.”
Yoongi smiles, pressing a featherlight kiss to his cheek, “See? I told you, I’m lucky.”
‘No’, Jimin wants to argue, ‘I’m lucky. To have such a wonderful soul as yours love mine.’
