Work Text:

The sun rose through the slightly parted blinds into the dark apartment, coating a sliver of the bed sheets in a gold stream of light. Posters and picture frames illuminated as it passed them, shadows playing off the glass from small terrariums setting all over the room. A metal wind-chime hanging in the slightly cracked window swung from the summer morning breeze.

Peaceful.

A tired eye cracked open, wincing at the stream of light that oh-so-perfectly landed right over his face. The eye's owner grunted and tried turning his head but to no avail. He'd have to shift his entire body onto its side, and the weight beside him in the bed told him there was no escaping the wake up call.

A jet black hand moved to his forehead and rubbed his eyes before pinching the bridge of his nose. A trip to the store for some better blinds was obviously in order. Maybe he could stop by on his way back from work that evening. He promised he'd get milk, too.

Fingers threading through the white strands that hung loosely over his face, he heaved a sigh then glanced at the small clock on the bedside table; 6 minutes until his alarm went off. A tragedy.

Brown hair shifted over his chest and drew his attention back to the woman beside him. Her cheek remained squished against his t-shirt and a tiny bit of drool had dried next to her slightly parted mouth. She slept in one of his shirts; a dark gray graphic tee with one of his favorite bands scrawled across the front that barely stopped before her knees.

He softly brushed her longer bangs to the side, caressing her face in the process. His favorite part about her were her eyes, though they remained closed as he swept her bangs away. Playful, dangerous, coy, loving; they were always filled with so much emotion, and he thought it a shame that she didn't show them off more.

But if she did then he'd probably get a tiny bit jealous.

Finally, she began to stir awake as he drew his hand away. She was even less of a morning person than he, so a twinge of guilt passed over him as her soft brown eyes peaked up through long lashes.

"Mm, mornin'," she mumbled. Even after all their time together, the feel of her body as she stretched across him made his cheeks flush, though it wasn't visible because of his complexion.

"Morning, love."

His lips pressed against the top of her head as an arm snaked around her shoulder. Half asleep and still wanting to enjoy the quiet morning, Komori rolled on top of Kuroiro with her head beneath his chin.

"Did the alarm not go off?"

"It's about to in a few minutes."

A disappointed sigh left her, and he felt it travel out of her chest. They both had work today, an early shift at that, and Kuroiro knew she was wallowing in not being able to spend their anniversary together.

Despite the summer weather, Kuroiro was known for his cool skin and quickly made the decision to mess with his girlfriend, hoping that it'd lift her spirits. Slipping his hands further down her body, he slid them beneath her shirt and touched the small of her back.

"C-cold!" she shrieked, shaking a bit from the laughing man beneath her. He continued touching her, cool fingertips dragging across her spine, palms flattening against her ribs. Pretty soon the touches became more sensual, and Komori lifted herself above him to look him in the eye.

"Are you trying to make us late?" she smirked, suspicious.

That look. The twinkle in her eye that was akin to an animal stalking its prey. It sent a shiver through him. One of the reasons he found her so attractive was because of that look.

"I may be tempting you," he played along. If they couldn't enjoy their anniversary together, then maybe this was the next best thing.

Her locks of brown hair tickled his collarbone as she lowered her face to his. Lips met and cool skin melted into warm. Black fingers moved to intertwine themselves in her hair, while her nails went to scrape against the hard muscles of his abdomen.

Komori just about had his shirt pushed up to his chin when the alarm blared.

"Goooooood morning listeners! Today looks like it's gonna be A ROCKIN 86 degrees with a strong chance of sun, sun, and more sun! And don't forget about the upcoming Hero Awards! So far the top contenders are-"

Komori's hand ended their old teacher's loud broadcast abruptly. Kuroiro groaned and the girl above him deflated.

"This sucks-shroom."

"Rain check?" he offered hopefully. Her cute pout remained for a second, but then a bright smile took its place.

"I'll hold you to that," she quipped.

Leaning up on his arms, he surprised her with a chaste kiss. "We can cash it in tonight, under the cover of darkness."

"Kinky," she joked. Her arms slipped around his neck as she sat in his lap. He was a whole foot taller than her, but at least he was easier to reach when they were like this.

He flushed, and she giggled at the small change in pallor.

"Don't worry, I'm sure you didn't mean it that way."

His eyes darted away, focusing on the light shining through the window rather than her. "I mean, I'm not opposed to, uh, experimenting.." He scratched his cheek.

Komori suddenly hopped off the bed and stretched her arms high above, toes wiggling in the carpet their parents bought them as a gift. After relaxing, she removed her boyfriend's shirt and sent a smirk over her shoulder at his dumbstruck expression.

"Guess we better start the day then-shroom."

As she closed the door to the bathroom, Kuroiro groaned, falling back into the pillows. Night couldn't come fast enough.
