Work Text:
It was just another hotel. One more. Jimin couldn’t take the pressure anymore. He needed a few days off. Maybe not days off, but at least a couple moments. Another empty hotel room wasn’t something Jimin wanted. He wanted to let go; even if just for a moment. So he did what he always did when he wanted to be happy, to be relaxed, to be himself: he texted Jungkook.
[You]: Hey gguk, u settled in yet?
[Jeonnie]: just finished unpacking
why?
[You]: wanna come to my room?
bring ur lighter
[Jeonnie]: be right there
Jimin smiled. It was always a great thing to have Jungkook around. Especially when weed was involved.
Honestly, this wasn't the first time Kook had gone to his room before; or spent the night, for that matter. It was common for them to never actually use one of their rooms. Somehow, they always ended up in each other's beds. None of the others seemed to mind whenever that happened. Although nothing ever really happened between the two, it was clear for anyone around them that that was leading somewhere. Once, they actually thought that’d it be a waste of time to actually go to one of the rooms, which left Jimin to unpack and stay in Kook’s room right away. However, it never occurred to them that the staff had left a hidden camera in the room, live streaming the members' arrivals straight away. They couldn’t just be there. They couldn’t be together like that. It was surely quite the surprise, but they made it work.
When Jungkook arrived at Jimin’s door, he was already licking their blunt shut. “Took you long enough." He said, a sarcastic smirk showing on his lips. "Get in and lock the door, will ya?"
"Sorry, took me a while to find the lighter… but I got it” Pulling his baby blue lighter from his pocket as he said so. "I guess I came in at just the right time." Looking down at the freshly rolled blunt in Jimin's hands.
"So are you gonna sit down or am I gonna have to make you?" His daring eyes pulling the youngest closer.
“You’re that eager, huh?” Jungkook sits down at the feet of the bed. “Long day?”
“It’s not like you weren’t there, Kookie.” Jimin chuckles. “You know how it was. Long hours, long flights, long… hard fucking day.” Kook smiles, but doesn’t say anything. Maybe Jimin had more trouble today, but he was fine. It’d take some food and some weed and suddenly Jimin would be back to his normal, silly self.
"Yeah..." He said, bringing what fell off the blunt on the coffee table together and putting it back ih his stash. "Nothing this can't fix, though!" His face lighting up at the thought of what they were about to do.
Smoking alone didn't compare to smoking with Jungkook. Sure being high alone had it's perks, but nothing like seeing Jungkook lay back on the couch and let go. Nothing like laying on top of a flirty, stoned Kookie.
“We ordering room service?” Asked Jungkook, receiving nothing but a frown in response. “What? You suddenly don’t like hotel food anymore?”
“Whenever we smoke you always ask the same question, and I always tell you,” He breathes in, annoyed. “It’s much more fun ordering food when you’re already baked. You ask for stuff you’d never order if you were sober.”
Food wasn’t the only thing both of them couldn’t enjoy while sober. In fact, it was way easier for them to do anything stoned (well, anything but dance -- it was actually quite funny when they did try). Not worrying about what the fans or the press would think of their every move, even if there were no cameras around, made their real nature come out and they could have fun with each other whatever way they wanted. Besides, they always enjoyed the challenge of looking sober in front of others when they took it just a smidge too far. Hoseok and Namjoon usually caught them, not being strangers to weed themselves, but they all just treated it like an inside joke. Taehyung would join in on their silliness, not even realizing they were high. Jimin often wondered if he wasn't secretly the biggest pot-head of them all. Jin would worry about them being caught by the staff, but that never happened so he learned to deal with it, and Yoongi pretended not to care but kinda wanted to try it.
Jimin put the blunt between his lips and stood out his hand for the lighter. It took a couple of moments for Kook to realize what Jimin meant, but did it quickly nonetheless. Jimin lit the blunt and immediately sighed. “God, I’ve missed this.” He took another hit and gave it over to Jungkook, who didn’t hesitate to take it.
“Now I get it…” Jungkook said after the first hit. Jimin didn’t understand. “Why you wanted this.” He pointed at the blunt and smiled, giving it back to Jimin, who struggled to catch it.
“Ugh, you’re too far. Come closer.” Jungkook smiled and bowed his head, flushing (if asked, he’d say it’s because of the pot), and went over to the sofa, sitting next to Jimin. They were both sitting on this small, two person couch - knees and thighs touching lightly.
Jimin took one, two, three more long hits and there it was: the bliss he was longing for the whole day. He was starting to feel the weight of the lighter on his lap, the sofa cushion pressing against his neck, the warmth of his socks on his feet and Jungkook's leg hesitantly touching his. His muscles relaxed and he looked up, staring at the ceiling and comfortably letting his leg rub against the youngest's.
He closed his eyes, relishing every bit of the feeling. He felt warm throughout his body, the lights from the room dancing behind his closed lids. Oh there very few things he loved more than this.
"So... whatever happened to puff puff pass?" Said Jungkook, a light chuckle followed.
Jimin opened his eyes and looked at the other, enchanted by his low toned voice. "Oh, shit, sorry." He passed the blunt, smiling at his own actions. Damn Jungkook was gorgeous. He watched as the boy put the blunt between his gleaming lips and inhaled deeply, holding the smoke for a few moments before letting out a beautiful dense cloud of smoke that danced it's way to the ceiling until it dissipated completely. Jimin would usually tease him for holding the smoke in but Jungkook still insisted he got higher faster that way. It's not like he had to worry about that though, he had one of the lowest tolerances Jimin had ever seen. The older thought it was adorable how Jungkook would always try to keep a level head and finish the blunt with him in moments like these, even if he was totally out of it.
After his second hit, Jungkook looked at him with eyes that said that tonight wouldn't be any different. Jimin noticed he had been staring at him, his eyes were already fading into red as he too relaxed with a sigh. They both felt their legs tingle, craving for more contact.
Jimin would often blame how he felt around Kook on the weed. It was easier than dealing with the actual consequences of whatever it was that made him want him so badly. He couldn’t be attracted to Jungkook. It just didn’t work like that. If he ever admitted to himself that whatever happened between closed doors and lit blunts was real there was no turning back, but he knew there was a part of him that screamed that he quit his bullshit. There was always going to be a part of him that put Jungkook above anything else. A part of him that didn’t care about anything else.
His legs inched closer and suddenly it wasn’t just that. Jimin’s leg was already on top of Jungkook’s and their faces centimeters away from each other’s. It was always like that. It would end there, too. Faces close and body’s closer.
And that would be it.
Never an inch closer.
No matter how much they wanted it. How much Jimin wanted it.
So, Jimin let go. His leg went back to his original place on the other side of the couch and their faces no longer close as Park stole the blunt from Kook’s hand. “What’s with you today?” Jungkook asked, his tone mockingly even though his face seemed serious. “You’re weird.”
“Me?” Jimin chuckled, turning his head to is side as he hit the blunt once more. It was mostly gone. “I’m never the weird one between the two of us.” He pointed at Jungkook.
Jungkook asks for the blunt and it isn't given to him, so he stands up, aiming for the mini fridge. “I meant you’re weird today.” He opens the door of the fridge in hopes of finding anything that could suit his needs, the munchies already getting to him. “Was it training? I know you hate it when they film it.”
Jimin is letting out another puff of smoke when he answers, “I don’t hate it.” He takes in yet another hit. “I just can’t really practice when there’s someone filming,” Kook closes the mini fridge door loudly. “it’s like a performance, I feel as if I can’t get it wrong. What’s the point of practicing if you can’t get it wrong?” Jungkook sits down beside Park again, trying his best to get their legs closer together like before. “And so close to the tour, too. I actually need to practice, y’know?”
“I get it.” Jungkook places his hand on Jimin’s knee and the oldest flinches. “It’s hard being yourself when there’s cameras pointing at you…” With that Kook comes closer, close enough to touch Jimin’s lips if he wanted to. “I always wonder what would be like to not give a shit.” Closer, closer, closer, “to do whatever I want,” His voice is almost a whisper by that point. “Do whoever I want…” Jimin’s breath hitches, something lodged in his throat. He’s about to move in closer and finish what they started years ago but something stops him: Jungkook comes forward and wraps his lips around the blunt between his fingers, taking a hit and getting back to his place in the couch. “But maybe it’s not meant to be.”
“Y-yeah…” Jimin struggles to speak. “Not meant to be.”
Jungkook smirks, he knows exactly what he’s done. “Let’s order some food, I’m starving.” He quickly gets up from the couch but loses his balance. He laughs to himself over how stoned he is but Jimin is still too stunned to react. Sure they had had almost kisses before, flirted recklessly before, but the oldest had never seen the other so confident with him before. His heart is racing and feels like it's gonna pop out of his chest at any moment, his own stoned mind not comprehending everything that happened fully. This was too much for him, but he wanted more.
“You still want this, Chim?” He nodded at the blunt, standing his hand out to give it to him.
“You really think you're gonna be the one to put it out this time?” He scoffed, setting aside the turmoil inside him and taking it from Jungkook's hand. Maybe if he kept smoking this would all make more sense.
Kook made his way over to the table where the room service menu was sitting. He couldn't really focus on what was written, so he kept bringing it closer and farther to his face; maybe he should have brought his glasses along with him.
In the background Jimin laughed over his silliness as he was reminded of that side of Jungkook. He kept hitting what was left of their blunt, which was a little more than he expected, as he watched the other (finally) read the menu out loud, often mispronouncing the words. They both busted out laughing when they realized the youngest was reading the salads for the 3rd time.
“Oh wow they sure have a lot of salads, don't they?” Said the oldest, blowing the ash that had fallen on his lap to the floor.
“Yeah! It's like… all they have. I was hoping for some pizza but I guess the italian salad will have to do.” Confused, he was counting how many items there were, but something wasn't adding up. “Wait… I-”
“Gguk, did you turn the page?” Jimin interrupted him, asking what Jungkook had just realized himself. They looked at each other knowingly, as the youngest puckers his lips in a playful, guilty expression:
“...Maybe?”
Jimin threw his head back, almost hitting his head against the wall behind the couch as he could no longer really see anything and his body was overtaken by laughter. The roach he was still holding started burning his fingers, and he shrieked in pain, instinctively throwing it on the floor. One second later and Jimin found himself sliding off the couch to the floor.
He sat there, looking down, just trying to get his head to stop spinning as suddenly someone, Jungkook, grabbed his hands. He looked up, the youngest was crouching, looking straight into his eyes, as he kissed the tip of his burnt fingers.
No coherent thoughts crossed Jimin's head, but Jungkook didn't give him any time, as he started to tickle his tummy mercilessly. He tried to fight back, to curl up in a ball, but the other easily overpowered him and suddenly Jimin found himself stuck under Jungkook, his wrists held firmly above his head as Jungkook straddled his thighs.
Didn't take Jimin long to focus this time. He looked deep into the other's red eyes, a strain of slightly sweaty brown hair in the middle of his face. They both breathed heavily, they both knew what was meant to happen.
Jungkook licked his lips and started to come closer. When he was just close enough to kiss him, to finally taste what he wanted for so long, Jungkook hid his face on Jimin's neck as they heard a knock on the door.
“Ya! Do you guys at least have a window open? I can smell your stuff from my room!” It was Namjoon, or was it Hoseok? Neither of them could really tell.
“Maybe if we ignore them they'll just go away?” Whispered Jungkook, his hold on Jimin's wrists getting looser. The exact opposite of what Jimin wanted.
“Knowing them, do you really think that’d work?” He sighed. “There’s no way they’re going away until we do something.” At this point Jimin can’t even look straight into Kook’s eyes, no matter how confident he gets whenever he smokes. There’s something weird about today, about Jungkook.
And just as soon as Jimin got used to the weight of Jungkook on top of his thighs it vanished. Jungkook was quickly up and running to the door, almost falling a couple of times and surely hitting his hip on the dresser. It took a couple of moments for Jimin to bring his hands back down, almost like there was still something holding his wrists over his head. As soon as he did they came to rest over his face, feeling the heat of his cheeks. What is going on?
Kook open the door to reveal a somewhat pissed Namjoon leaning against the doorframe, about to knock once more. “Seriously, open a window.”
"I'm sorry we didn't call you to hang out with us. You don't have to-" His sentence was interrupted by an unusually scary censoring look. "Yeah… we get it, sorry." Jungkook mumbled.
"Just a warning, as long as it doesn't happen again..." Namjoon tried to peek inside their room. He didn't seem angry anymore.
"You mean the window or not calling you over?" He asked jokingly, evoking a playful smile out of Namjoon as he closed the door behind him.
"You already know." He left.
Namjoon was weird, or maybe he was weird? He didn't know. What he did know was that he was hungry. Just as that thought hit him, he heard Jimin, who was still lying on the ground, ask about the food they were gonna order when they got… distracted.
Jungkook took the menu over to Jimin and sat right next to him on the cold floor. Jimin still had his hands covering his face, but Jungkook couldn’t tell if it was shame or just Jimin being high off his mind. He wondered if he should do something, but before he could think of something, Jimin sat up and took the menu from his hands, not even looking at the youngest. He flipped the salad page over and they read in silence, they were really focused on the food.
They decided on ordering some rice balls, fries and this odd squid soup that sounded interesting. As Jimin got up and ordered their food, Jungkook's mind wandered off, but it always found a way back to Jimin. He thought about how fun it would be being high on a roller coaster, being high on a roller coaster with Jimin, just being in a roller coaster with Jimin. He smiled at the idea of a theme park date with Jimin, and his smile got wider as the oldest hung up the hotel phone and gave him an excited thumbs up.
"So, what's our sentence?" The youngest inquired, after staring at his giggly partner for a while.
"...Our sentence?...What?" Jimin didn't understand. He turned his head slightly in confusion, making Jungkook's heart clench. He felt the need to smother Jimin in hugs and kisses.
"Like how long are we gonna have to wait?" It took him all the strength he had to not tackle Jimin right there.
"They said the food will take around 30 minutes.” Jimin laughs and pouts exaggeratedly, “Aish I'm not sure I can wait that long, Jungkookie!" he laughs.
"Ah that's it, you punk!" Jungkook got up and charged at the other's direction. Before Jimin could even ask what was happening his face was already being smothered into Kook's chest and hugged tightly.
Jungkook smelled so good. Jimin instinctively hugged him even tighter. They began trying to push each other down and it started to look like a lovey-dovey sumo fight or something. The smaller held up a good fight but soon enough he was thrown over the bed. Jimin hid his face in his hands and shut his legs, ready to be "attacked" again but was dubiously left alone. He peeked through his fingers to find Jungkook staring at him, wide eyed, like he’d realized something. Jimin knew that feeling all so well, and couldn’t tell if it was good or not. He took the fingers off his face and sat up on the bed, his legs spread out, “Kookie?” Jungkook didn’t answer, instead, he crouched down into the bed, in all fours, like he was about to jump at Jimin. “Everything okay?” Jungkook again said nothing, just started to slowly walk up to Jimin in the bed, coming through the space in between his thighs. “You’re acting weird.”
“No, Jimin.” He sounded so serious. It was the complete opposite of the funny, high off his ass, Jungkook Jimin got used to hearing. “I think I’m actually acting like I want to for a change.” He slowly but surely crawled his way up Jimin once more, not once taking his eyes off the oldest. Jimin couldn’t breathe. His heart was beating so fast and so loud he could feel his hands tremble. “Jimin…” He was so close. How did it come to this? They were fine a few minutes ago. They were playing and joking and just normal high Jimin and Jungkook a few minutes ago. Why was it always like this with them? From 6 to 60m/h all the time? Not even weed could calm them down.
Actually, sometimes Jimin wondered if it just made things even more intense.
“Jungkook.” Jimin tried to sound serious but his voice was breaking apart. “Y-You’re-” He was too close now. Close enough Jimin could feel his breath over his lips.
“I’m what?” Jungkook looked down to Jimin’s lips and then again to his eyes. “What am I, Jimin?”
It took every single ounce of bravery he had, but Jimin managed to let out a single, “You’re-” and became quiet. A hand coming to cover his mouth as he turned his head to the side. “You’re acting weird.” Was not at all what he wanted to say.
Jungkook laughed. It wasn’t a heartfelt laugh at all. It felt so fake and cold Jimin could feel it, shivers down his entire back. The youngest looked again at his lips and in one quick move he was off the bed and turned around. Jimin knew he’d fucked up.
Jimin slowly got off the bed as if not to make a sound. There, on the other side of the room was a struggling Jungkook trying to figure out how to open the blinds from their window. He watched for a few moments, leaving the youngest to his own devices, until he finally managed to make it budge. He didn’t know what to do. Would it become weird again? Would it come back to normal again?
Should he just… go for it?
Silently, Jimin approached Jungkook as he finally opened the sliding window, and wrapped his arms around his neck, making the other flinch then relax almost instantly. The chills the cold breeze had given him didn't compare to the ones Jimin just gave him. The oldest delicately kissed the other's neck and he could swear he saw the hairs on the back of his head rise a little. Maybe he should go for it. He would. He will. He is.
Jungkook turned around and smiled, almost as if he knew how Jimin would react after what he’d done. Fucker knew exactly how he makes Jimin feel (and he’d be lying if he said he didn’t love it). His eyes traveled again to Park’s lips, the oldest arms still around his neck. This time there weren’t any excuses, so, Jungkook placed his hands on his waist, slowly but surely coming closer and closer. Jimin closed his eyes. Just when they were about to meet, Jungkook stops and says: “What am I, Jimin?”
“You’re Jungkook.” Jimin wouldn’t open his eyes.
“And?”
“And-” The doorbell rings and Jungkook almost lets out a scream. Jimin’s breath hitches as the hands on his waist leave to open the door. “Fuck.” He says under his breath as he hears Jungkook thank the hotel staff that brought them their room service.
“Thought you said it’d take half hour.” Jungkook says, kidding.
“Believe me, I wish it did.”
Jimin took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down without much triumph. Something was telling him that they wouldn't just bounce back from this like nothing happened for the sake of some rice balls, but if he was being honest with himself, it was time things changed between them. As Jungkook put down their food on the coffee table that had ash scattered all over it, his stomach spoke louder and he eagerly sat down in front of all the food. The smell of piping hot soup made their bellies growl, so whatever, they could pick up from where they left off later, hopefully.
When the first bite of food made it into their mouths they both groaned in pleasure. Damn that tasted amazing. They tried to slowly savour their food but they couldn't, and a minute into eating they were stuffing themselves with the rice and the fries. The soup was spicy but great, yet they weren't sure if they could trust their palates at that moment. As if weed didn't have enough pros already, being able to eat roughly whatever and enjoying it really made their travels easier sometimes, like when they were stuck on a tour bus a few years back and all they had was stale food.
It also didn't take long for the youngest to start messing around with his food. Jimin was glad he was being playful again. Jungkook bit a rice ball in half and lodged the pieces under his cheeks, making his bunny smile more exaggerated and Jimin's heart melt. He cooed at the sight and couldn't control his laughter as Kook miserably failed in using a couple of fries as chopsticks to throw the last rice ball at him.
"Ya! Don't waste our precious resources like that!" He joked, taunting him to do something else.
"Oh so you wanted this last one? Hmm, I have an idea." Jungkook had the same smile he had whenever they'd compete over anything, so the other knew something was up. "What about whoever finishes their soup first gets to keep it?"
"I don't wanna keep it, i wanna eat it." He paused expecting a laugh, but Jungkook kept staring at him, waiting for his answer. "Yes, ok, I'm in."
Instantly the youngest started to dig in on his soup, one spoonful after the other, and Jimin was already behind. He started to eat as well and oh my god it was spicier than he thought. It wasn't the time to dwell on the pain, he had to win the last rice ball!
He picked up his bowl and attempted to drink it, but a droplet hit his eye and nope, spoon it is. Jimin had never eaten anything so fast, his whole mouth was screaming because of the pepper and he couldn't believe it when, as he put his spoon down, Jungkook still wasn't done, clearly trying to drink the rest of his soup the way Jimin attempted earlier.
"I won!" He shouted, recklessly dropping the spoon on the table. "I won Kookie, stop torturing yourself and give me my prize!” He threw his hands in the air, laughing. “Woah, I can't believe I won over our overachieving Jungkookie!" He was ecstatic, he wasn't even feeling the pain.
Jungkook put down his bowl with nothing more than a drop of soup left. Unwilling to accept his defeat, he looked down at the plate with the lonely rice ball in it, pulled it closer and said, unwavered:
"Come and take it from me then." Maybe it was just the pain, but he was serious. Jimin laughed and tried to take the rice ball from him but Kook would keep waving it around, mocking him. Park stopped and laughed, trying to go with the joke thinking that maybe it he’d give it up.
“Oh, come on, Kookie!” Jimin laughed. “My lips are killing me. I just want a rice ball to make it better.” He pouted again (it worked last time).
“I said come and take it.” His voice was rough and low and Jimin lost it. “If you want it that bad.” He waved the rice ball in front of Jimin’s face. So the oldest got up and came closer to Jungkook, looking down at him and the damned rice ball. He extended his hand.
“Give it to me, Jungkook. I won it fair and square.” Jimin’s losing his patience and it’s going away quickly.
“I know.” Jungkook looks up and smirks. “And I said come and get it.” That’s it.
Jimin smiles and sits, face to face, on Jungkook’s lap. His lips are red and aching and for the look of Jeon’s he’s in the same situation. So he just made himself comfortable in Kook’s lap, every ounce of shame he had vanished. He brought his face closer to Kook’s, loving the way he was stunned, his lips slightly open and his eyes wide, looking at Jimin but not saying a word. Teasing is fun until you get what you asked for, huh? Park just comes closer, their breaths mingling and becoming even heavier. Jimin arranges himself on the youngest's lap and hears a small, contained moan. So he smiles.
It doesn’t take long before Jimin’s hand is on Jungkook’s neck and even quicker they’re kissing. Their lips hurting and red and raw and everything tastes like pepper. The rice ball falls back onto the plate and Jungkook’s hands wrap around Jimin’s waist, eager for more contact (as if having him on his lap wasn’t enough -- it was never enough). Kook smiles over the oldest’s lips and Jimin knows he won. Actually, he couldn’t care less who’s the winner. Right now it feels like they both did.
When the kiss stops suddenly, Jungkook complains with a small moan, but Jimin just smiles, pushes a little strand of hair off his forehead and says, plain and simple: “Can I have my rice ball back, now?”
Jungkook chuckles, “After all of this?” Jimin arches an eyebrow. “I’d be stupid to ever let you have food again.”
"Give it to me." He was going insane. He gripped Jimin's waist tighter with one hand and used his other one to reach for the prize. “I’m serious, Kookie. I want my rice ball!” Jimin jumped a little up and down on the youngest’s lap and smirked when he got the exact reaction he was hoping for. “I won!” Jungkook, even in this state of mind, still wouldn’t let go. “I’ve got the munchies, c’mon Jungkook!” Jimin got closer to the boy, looking straight into his eyes. “Are you going to make me beg for it?”
Jungkook launched forward, wanting to kiss him again. “Sounds like a deal.” He said against the oldest’s lips, smiling.
Jimin comes forward, watching as Kook closed his eyes in anticipation, and reaches to his back, taking the little rice ball that caused so many things tonight, leaning back with a victory grin. Jungkook finally opens his eyes and sees jimin, not close enough to kiss but definitely close to the rice ball, waving it around. “Unfair.” He says.
“I’m the unfair one?” Jimin acts offended, then slowly reaches for the rice ball and takes a bite, moaning loudly as he does so. “It’s so good.” He takes one last bite and smirks “Delicious.” Voice low and raspy.
Jungkook doesn’t take two seconds to grip Jimin by his waist and stand up, forcing the other to wrap his legs around his waist to keep himself up. Jimin wasn’t expecting it, but sure as hell wasn’t complaining. He just felt the soft bed on his back when Jungkook threw him against it, his lips meeting the youngest’s urgently. Jungkook found his place between Jimin’s legs and slowly came down, chests touching and Park’s legs still around his waist. Kisses slow and steady, little moments here in there. From mouth to neck, from neck to chest, and all of a sudden it was too blurry, too intense to even understand what was actually happening.
Across the room, over the coffee table, a remaining rice ball sat on the plate, both of them still too high to notice they fought over nothing. Too high to think straight.
But it’s not like it didn’t pay off, did it?
Namjoon could hear everything. He didn’t sleep. The next day he bought airpods.
