Summary:

Namjoon's whining to Yoongi finally pays off

Notes:

This is for another giveaway i did! This is for @ActualRM who requested one of MY ideas which i was so shocked about! It was just a general idea of "THIS Yoongi with THIS Namjoon where Namjoon is a hard working businessman and he goes to a cafe every morning to whine about his job to cute barista Yoongi UWU"
Its short and cute <33333

Work Text:

“I don’t understand how they expect me to run the files over while doing case management at the same time,” Namjoon complained, coffee swirling in his hand at every movement he made, Yoongi watching carefully to see if he’d spill anything while he wiped up an empty table, “Like who can even do that?” Yoongi remained quiet even though he knew Namjoon was waiting for an answer, most likely an agreement to his exclamation. When he realized he wasn’t going to get any acknowledgement, he sighed, “Can’t you at least try to pretend you care hyung?”

“You still making the same an hour?” Yoongi quipped, taking the empty pastry wrappers the previous customers didn’t bother throwing away.

“Yeah.” Namjoon raised an eyebrow, not knowing where this was going.

Yoongi made his way behind the counter again, Namjoon turning in his circle seat to follow, arm resting on the counter top, “Then I’m not listening to someone who makes a load of money whine about their job.” He smiled sweetly at him, contradicting his words, and moved to finish cleaning up.

“If an angel like you told me I could do it, it would motivate me so much.” Namjoon grumbled, using the red stick to stir his coffee that was cold by now. He wasn’t even a that big of a fan of coffee, but he preferred it over tea or anything else the cafe had. Plus it was Yoongi’s speciality one, so he didn’t mind ordering it every time he came, which was everyday Yoongi was working, during his lunch break.

“Not an angel.” Yoongi shot back, shaking his head as he grabbed the mop from where he leaned it against the wall earlier and brought it with him back behind the counter.

“You are to me.” Namjoon smiled, all big and dimply and Yoongi would’ve found it cute if this man wasn’t such a big joke.

Yoongi rolled his eyes, “Are you done?” He asked, pointing to Namjoon’s uneaten, untouched treat he always ordered, and rarely finished. Yoongi would like to think he was a good person, but karma had to be fraud if this is what he was stuck with after being kind to Namjoon the first time they met. He was walking over to his shift when the younger, but taller, man stumbled around the corner, swaying in his steps like he hadn’t slept or eaten in days. Everything in him screamed to ignore him and keep walking, but his conscious reminded him he was going to a coffee shop, and this stranger definitely needed some coffee in him. He had stopped Namjoon with a hand to his chest and dragged him to the cafe without any argument, not that Namjoon had any energy to put up a fight. He had served the other his best coffee cup and gave him two pastries from the glass compartment, all on the house.

Of course he found out the next day Namjoon wasn’t some poor, tired soul, no, he was a worker for a multimillion dollar company and no office temp, a higher up. He made more in an hour Yoongi made in a week of pay. He didn’t deserve that free coffee or treats Yoongi offered him, even if he was stupidly tall and cute, it didn’t matter. Yoongi had huffed when Namjoon thanked him, hair no longer a mess and suit on perfectly, saying Yoongi’s kindness helped him overbare his work. He hadn’t left him alone for months after that.

“I just got here.” Namjoon’s plump lips twitched down, Yoongi saw the movement and quickly turned around.

“If you’re not going to eat or drink the coffee I worked so hard on for you, then you can go.” He mumbled, unable to look at the others, no doubt, hurt stricken face. Luckily, Namjoon was the only customer in the place since his lunch was at a weird time, and Yoongi had some time to do diligent work to keep him distracted. He went through the swinging door, to the back, putting the mop he took out earlier in place. When he was about to walk out, Namjoon appeared. He gasped in surprise, and then frowned, “Customers aren’t allowed here.”

“Hyung,” Namjoon stared down at him with a face of absolute melancholy, “You still haven’t let me make it up to you for your help. When are you going to give me that chance?”

Yoongi’s hands twisted in his uniform apron, “There’s no need to, I already told you that.”

Namjoon’s expression turned soft, how it always did around Yoongi, “But I want to. Let’s get dinner after you’re done with work, my treat.”

Yoongi stiffened, trying to hold his brave stance and not drop to his knees right then and there, “I don’t want you to pay things for me.” He grumbled.

“So your treat,” Namjoon shrugged and Yoongi loosened his hold but pouted up to him, seeing the youngers amused face, “It’s my treat just this one time, I promise not to go around offering you any dates again.”

Yoongi paused before he could quickly agree to this one time dinner, “D-Date?” He stuttered.

“Yeah,” Namjoon spoke like it was obvious, “You’ll let me right?” He took a small step forward, getting more into his space. Yoongi would back up but his feet kept him rooted in his spot, only ability was peering up cutely with wide, confused filled eyes. Namjoon wanted to go on a date with him? Well that much was there , wasn’t it? That clearly explained all the constant visitations and whining, like he depended on Yoongi. “Right?” Namjoon repeated when he zoned out, outstretching slowly, testing the waters, and linking his hand with Yoongi's, “You’ll let me take you on a date?” He questioned, and Yoongi couldn’t look away or pull his grip out.

He could only pathetically tremble with damn near excitement and mumble out a, “Yes.”

Namjoon’s already big smile got wider, making the olders heart race faster, “I knew you liked me.” He said cockily, giving Yoongi’s hands a squeeze.

His arrogance immediately made him shove Namjoon away, “Date cancelled.” He pushed past him, back out the employee door since he had a job to do.

“Then I’ll just have to come back tomorrow.” Namjoon followed him out, finding it entertaining when Yoongi realized what his words meant.

“Be here at six, don’t be late.” Yoongi mumbled without turning to him, going behind the counter and mentally thanking the empty cafe.

“You get off at six?” Namjoon asked, going around to his seat and cold, undrinkable coffee at this point, “I thought you got off later than me, I’m not done until eight.”

Yoongi shot him an unimpressed look, “Then quit.”

Namjoon seemed taken a back from the order but easily let his lips stretch into a smile, “Okay, I’ll do that, you’ll just have to take care of me from now on.”

Yoongi slammed a hand on the table top, “As if I’d ever let you quit that job of yours. I should be the one getting taken care of, you tall, rich, ass.”

“I know you wouldn’t actually quit, but you could if you wanted to,” The younger placed a gentle hand over Yoongi’s pale one, “I’ll take care of you.”

Yoongi blinked in silence at him, feeling his face heat up from the care, “J-Just be here at six, I don’t care how you do it.”

Namjoon nodded eagerly, like he wouldn’t miss this date for anything in the world.
