Work Text:
It wasn't a new occurrence for Phoenix to come to Miles' office in the middle of a workday. Most of the time it was to ensure that Miles wasn't dying of malnutrition, or perhaps to utilize a second mind to figure out a particularly tough case. Maybe even it was to just spend some time together? Today, however, was a work day.
The two had been essentially volleying back-and-forth for the better part of an hour, and it seemed like they'd exhausted every possible avenue this case had. Now, though, they sat in companionable silence, as Miles typed away at his desk and Phoenix was on the nearby sofa, case file and various pieces of evidence strewn about the table before him. He focus was still wholly on the case, elbows balanced on his knees and keen eyes analyzing everything in front of him.
The prosecutor always found it fascinating seeing Phoenix work. The work itself may not always be interesting or pleasant, but whatever the case lacked the attorney made up for in spades. His mannerisms when he focused -- the hand that runs through his spikes or rubs at his clean-shaven chin, the occasional biting of the lip and Phoenix taking off his suit jacket and pulling at his shirt collar in an attempt to cool himself down-- was all so
intriguing
to Miles, though he could never figure out why. Oh well.
Right now, seeing Phoenix as intent as he was on the case at hand, and the hand now coming up to loosen and even untie the crimson tie at his neck was distracting him, and an evil idea which he probably shouldn't indulge in popped into his head.
Quietly he stood up from his chair, and he moved slowly so as not to draw attention to himself. He walked over to where Phoenix was and simply hovered for a moment, gaze flickering to the pen in Phoenix's hand as he wrote something down on the notepad he brought, blue ink (of course) filling line after line in smooth, small print.
His attention didn't stay there for long however. He planted himself on the arm of the sofa, and slowly leaned in closer to Phoenix's space. He wanted to... test the waters, so to speak. Their relationship had already hit every "base," if he was going to use Prosecutor Gavin's term, but this was an opportunity that was fairly rare, with
Phoenix
as the focused one and Miles suffering from restless hands and a wandering mind.
In a move slightly unlike him, he moved to place his head on Phoenix's shoulder, briefly scanning over the contents on the table but not actually
looking.
No reaction.
Miles can't help the slightly devious smirk that plays at his lips. After all, he was allowed a little fun sometimes, no?
He started off with pressing a simple kiss to the attorney's cheek, and when he gets nothing from it he lays even more, ranging from the top of Phoenix's head to his temple, his jaw...
"Miles? What are you doing?" Came the quiet question. Miles pulled back just enough to see Phoenix's expression, a little amused glint in his eyes and a raised brow. Smirk still present, he pressed a kiss to Phoenix's lips, and Miles
almost
grins when he sees Phoenix chase after his lips when he pulls away. "Nothing, Phoenix. Get back to work."
And he does, albeit with another odd look and a fond eyeroll.
Perfect.
So, Miles amped it up, just a little bit for now, though - he wanted to draw this out. He had no meetings today, and Phoenix always locked the door behind him (a practice learned after... a previous interruption). The kisses to the attorney's jaw turn to small sucks and nips, still light enough to not leave a mark. He worked his way up a bit to tug on his earlobe with his teeth, and he heard Phoenix take a sharp inhale next to him.
Miles enjoyed this
far
too much.
He moved his mouth a bit lower again, and when he lovingly sucked at that spot
right
underneath Phoenix's jaw, he absolutely
revelled
in the shake sigh the attorney breathes.
"Miles..." Phoenix whispered, voice still surprisingly steady; Miles had to hand it to him, Phoenix's willpower was a sight to behold, both in the courtroom and out.
"Shh," he whispered back, voice featherlight against the column of Phoenix's neck. "Continue working. It seems like you've got something going... see it through." Phoenix stifled a groan at the light command but again, he did as he was told, his hand and the pen he's held shook lightly in his grasp now.
Why hadn't he done this before? Miles was thorough, meticulous to a fault, and he enjoyed exploring things when he had the time, and
had
to for the sake of his job. Why he never thought to do so with his lover before now was beyond him.
Miles amped it up a bit more.
Just as slowly as before, he moved from his space next to Phoenix to behind him, settling himself between the attorney and the back of the couch, his legs now resting on either side of Phoenix's and he wrapped his arms loosely around his waist.
It seemed this little break allowed Phoenix to steel himself a bit as the shake in his hand had gone away, and his attention was now back onto the coffee table with evidence once more.
Well that just won't do.
Phoenix had fully loosened his tie earlier, allowing Miles to simply loop a finger under his shirt collar and take the tie away with a soft
fwiiip
of the fabric sliding. From this angle, Miles could get to the other side of Phoenix's neck, and he applied the same treatment as he did with the other, while a stray hand wormed its way to the attorney's waistcoat. He felt his way around the smooth and silky material, fingertips digging in lightly to draw invisible marks around Phoenix's torso. Faintly, very faintly, he could feel his abdomen tighten under his fingers, and Miles smiled against Phoenix's skin.
His other hand comes around, and together they work to undo the buttons of the waistcoat. When the fourth and final button is undone, Miles hands are immediately back at his torso, switching from his thumbs running idle circles to his fingertips digging in even harder then they were, leaving warm tracks in their wake, all the while Miles continued to lavish attention to whatever sun-kissed skin he could see.
"Miles, please..."
"Please what?"
"Can you... speed it up? You said to finish my work..."
Miles hummed in thought, his head coming to rest on his shoulder once more as he looked to the notepad. Phoenix had managed to circle something in his blue pen, so Miles figured Phoenix must've figured
something
out.
"I did, but I'm having too much fun right now." He said, voice low and quiet. "So, let's test your resolve."
