Chapter Text
I grabbed another glass of champagne off a passing waiter. It had to have been my fourth or fifth glass. Not enough to get me drunk. It was pretty weak alcohol. Alcohol didn’t really have the desired effect on me anyway, not anymore. Maybe it had something to do with my shitty childhood. As I look around the ballroom for my ‘relatives’, I felt a powerful force of magic pulse through the ballroom. I glanced out the corner of my eye to see a man with dark hair, blue eyes, and a suit that even a Malfoy would envy. He held a dangerous, regal air. This would be trouble. I walk calmly towards Petunia and Vernon grabbing Dudley. He protested, but I hissed under my breath, “For once in your life, Dudders, listen to your dear cousin and follow me to auntie and uncle.” Surprisingly he followed, albeit reluctantly. When Vernon and Petunia saw me pulling their precious Duddley along, they grew furious.
“What do you think you’re doing girl,”
Vernon never got a chance to finish his sentence, interrupted by a crash followed by a scream of terror. I turned towards the sound and saw the man with a slim device attached to an eyeball. Gross. At his feet laid a dead body.
“RUN,” I screamed, gathering my skirts up, charging out the door. My uncle and cousin ran past me. Huh, didn’t think there’d be a day where they could outrun me. Magic was fired all around us, herding us. The man had made a makeshift cage of himself around the crowd. His attire changed to a battle armor of some sort with a helmet adorned with antlers. He held a spear of some sort that seemed to double as a staff.
I heard him say kneel, and the crowd just kept freaking out. Then he screamed, no, ordered us to kneel. Everyone but me kneeled.
“Freak, what do you think you're doing? You're going to get us killed. Get down.” Petunia hissed
“No Aunt Petunia, I have faced the Dark Lord, a Basilisk, a Dragon, and a werewolf on the full moon. This man does not scare me.” I looked for an escape and saw one
He didn’t clone himself. He cast an illusion
“Why do you not kneel girl!” I snapped my head towards him and glared at him with all the defiance I could muster
“I have faced men like you before and defeated them.” I rose my chin in defiance towards this man as I replied.
“There are no men like me, little girl.” He smirked at me, thinking he held the upper hand.
“There are always men like you” I glanced towards the voice of an elder male. He must have been a survivor of the holocaust.
“He’s right it doesn’t matter if you aren’t human; there is always some pompous prick thinking he’s the shit-“
I took my heels off and threw them through his copies
“When in reality, he can’t even cast a proper set of illusions.” I knew this was probably breaking the statue of secrecy, but whomever this jackass was—just destroyed it.
Either way, I made him angry. Angry enough to shoot a blue light at me. I was ready for it, magic surrounding me in an invisible barrier. His spell bounced off, bringing forth shock to his arrogant face.
Unfortunately, he aimed for the elder next, and I was too far away to stop it, but I didn’t have to. A man dressed as Captain America with a shield blocked it. With the way he talked, I knew he was Captain America. He drove the man away from the crowd. Everyone ran from the fight, I ran towards it.
Captain America might have experience in fighting baddies, but not magical baddies. I arrived just in time to block an attack from the strange man. He snarled at me, attracting Cap’s attention.
“YOU!” He snarled, raising his staff to attack.
“Yeah me, don’t you know it's considered rude to attack a man when his back’s turned” I snarked
“Stay out of this witchling.” He glared at me with icy eyes.
“Seriously? You might have scared those people, but I’ve faced worse than some man who obviously is overcompensating with how large your horns and scepter are.” I mocked him
That seemed to be the wrong thing to say as he charged at me with said scepter, which might have landed a hit if it wasn’t for Cap yanking me out of the way.
“Listen civilian, while I appreciate the help you need to leave this to-“
“To what the adults? The professionals? Trust me, I’ve been doing shit like this since I was eleven, and not once have either of them helped me.” I cut him off
He was about to reprimand me if it weren’t for the strange man attempting another attack. He was stopped by missiles from…a jet?
Which in itself was impressive, and then I heard AC/DC blaring and saw the man go down. Iron Man had arrived on the scene. Now it was four against one.
I smirked at him as Iron Man caused him to revert back to his suit. The jet landed, and a woman with scarlet hair came off with a pair of regular cuffs and dragged the man onboard. I would have left if it wasn’t for the fact that the same woman shouted over her shoulder, “You might as well come along. Fury wants to talk to you.”
Not having anything better to do and wanting to avoid the press and my relatives. I followed her, but not before asking if she had any lead or iron cuffs.
“We don’t. Why would you want those anyway.” She looked at me, curiously.
“To repress his magic. Lead or iron helps absorb or negate any magic he might use”
She quirked her eyebrow at me but seemed to talk into her headpiece, recommending they get a set.
“You and I are going to have a talk while we’re in the air, Miss Potter.”
I shrugged, walking onto the plane. If she knew who I was, she was probably someone who was in the know about the magical world.
Little did I know how much would change by me walking onto that jet.
