Summary:

I'm trying to work on my writing through short drabbles.. I figured I might as well post it here.

Chapter Text

Honestly, it was all his fault. He was stupid enough to leave it in plain sight. Right where his parents could see it. His phone. With a post-it attached to the back. With someone’s phone number. With a message. Signed with kisses and a man’s name. He shouldn’t have put his phone down. But he did. His parents saw. There’s nothing he could do about it.
It didn’t take long for his mother to start yelling. His father kept silent, just staring at him with a look of disbelief. Not believing that his son could be a sinner.

His mother got a few slaps in before his father finally spoke.
“Leave,” the look of disbelief had long been replaced by one of pure hatred, “leave this house right now.” His father’s voice was calm, the icy tone causing tears to gather in his eyes. He knew he had to leave immediately to escape the anger. To escape the rage. But he couldn’t, he was frozen. By the time he found himself able to move it was already too late. He didn’t feel anything until his father shoved him out the door, his brain not registering the pain until he fell onto the pavement in front of his house. No, his parent’s house. It was no longer his to call home.

He looked around, finding his phone a little further away. It didn’t seem to have suffered a lot of damage, only some scratches around the edges from falling onto the ground. It was late already. He hoped the commotion hadn’t caused his sister to wake up. His sister. He dragged a hand down his face. He probably wouldn’t be able to see her again. Not after being kicked out. His parents won’t change their minds. He knew them well enough to be sure of that.

He started walking down the street, scrolling through his contacts. He didn’t know who to call yet but he needed to find a place to stay. By the time he had decided who to call, he found himself at the edge of the park. He sat down on a nearby bench before dialling the number on his screen. There were a few seconds of silence before someone answered.
“Hello?” He couldn’t say anything. “Anyone there?” Hearing his friend’s voice finally broke him, made the tears he’s been holding back fall down his face. He tried to even out his breathing so he could talk. “Can I stay with you tonight?”

Chapter Text

It was disturbing. The way the lightning bolts were visible through the window, causing the room to be sporadically bathed in white light.
It was disturbing. The way the tree branches keep hitting the window, commanded by the harsh wind, not allowing the figures on the bed to sleep.
It was disturbing. The way they felt each other flinch and stiffen every time thunder rumbled through the air.
It was disturbing, that Saturday night.

---

It’s peaceful. The way the sun is shining through the curtains, illuminating the figures on the bed.
It’s peaceful. The way the chirping birds can be heard through the slightly opened window, rousing the figures from their sleep.
It’s peaceful. The way they stay in bed, in each other’s arms, not bothering to move.
It’s peaceful, this Sunday morning.
