Work Text:

The rain is what brought the two boys curled into each other into the land of the living. Battering against the window like thousands of tiny drums, though the wind was rattling the panes in their frames, the two bodies under the covers were safe and cosy wrapped up in each other. Arms and limbs tangled together so much you couldn’t tell who’s was who’s. A cold toe pressed against the neighbouring calf, chests breathing in sync, heartbeats beating as one, skin pressed tightly together flushing it pinks and whites. It was normal for the two to wake up so wound together that if one of them wanted to get up or even more half an inch to the left both of them had to be awake. Now this wasn’t an ideal situation for a couple one of whom was a morning person and the other a person who didn’t see the mornings if he could help it. However both woke because of the rain today and they were alright with that, luckily not caught in the storm like they had been a day previous. The rain had started the afternoon before, just light drizzle but by the time yoongi made it home from the veterinary clinic he looked less like a human and more like a drowned rat. But Hoseok was there right with a towel and a cup of tea knowing his boyfriend had gone out without an umbrella or a coat that morning because the weather hadn’t accounted for the snap storms to roll in. With how humid the air had gotten in the days before, they should’ve known really it was much too humid for April, a storm was bound to be coming in. That or the witch a few streets across had had another fight with her girlfriend over something petty and now the rain was unrelenting because she was sulking. The last time it had happened they got a four day storm which cleared up one afternoon suddenly, literally the rain just stopped the clouds rolled out as fast as they’d rolled in the the next few days the two boys had spent on the balcony appreciating the sudden heat wave. It also occurred that Hoseok knew the storm witches girlfriend, she frequently brought healing plants off Hoseok for what he wasn’t sure but Hoseok said she was lovely and excessively polite, that and she always brought a few cupcakes over for them after a storm as an apology.

Hoseok felt the first signs of yoongi waking up when the elders eyelashes fluttered against his neck and his boyfriend attempting to burrow even closer to Hoseok. In return he tightened his arms around him and pressed a kiss into his sleep ruffled hair.
“Morning baby,” he whispered knowing not to talk too loudly first thing otherwise it gave Yoongi a headache as he switched back on and could subsequently begin to hear all the animals in the surrounding apartments.usually it was something he could control and can decide how far he wants the range of the apartment to go, but as he wakes up it’s a slight sensory overload before he gets a tight grip on the chatter of the animals around him and can quiet it.
“Morning sunshine,” come the muffled response, and Hoseok can feel gentle kisses being placed on his neck “happy anniversary love you.” And the arms around his waist tighten and Hoseok can finally see his boyfriends face puffy from sleep and eyes barely opened but lips already pouted asking for a kiss. Hoseok gives in a fond warm feeling blooms in his heart as he leans down and locks his lips with Yoongi’s, both slightly chapped and mouths lazy against each other, not getting anymore heated but defiantly not close to stopping any time soon. They tended to get wrapped up in a world of their own in the mornings feeling like it’s just them alone in their bedroom, the outside world simply doesn’t exists, just the four walls covered in old photos of them together through their relationship and from their festivals with their friends where they’d stay awake for almost four days basking in the summers sun and gaining energy from the stars in the sky, to pictures of their families and baby pictures with siblings. Their lives pinned up and blu-tacked onto the walls, everything and everyone they could need in their safe haven made it feel like it was a world of their own.

Lips sliding together became a silly game, much like a lot of things for them, yoongi currently had his hands cupping the sides of Hoseok’s neck and was placing pecks all over his face whilst Hoseok couldn’t stop giggling. Until he’d grabbed Yoongi’s was it where he was straddling him and flipped them over began tickling yoongi with his face buried into his neck pressing pecks and little bites there. This continued until the bedroom door pushed open from where hey had left it ajar the night before and Yoongi’s familiar padded into the room and squeezed himself in between yoongi and Hoseok where they were now lying on their sides facing each other. The cat wasn’t small by any means and by the human laws of physics probably says somewhere that the cat shouldn’t have been able to fit in between the two boys, however cats do not care for the limitations of physics. So now between them was the long haired ginger familiar staring straight at yoongi and padding his paws against his chest. Obviously they were having a conversation that Hoseok couldn’t hear but it was most likely about food, it was later than when they usually fed him. They used to let Oscar feed himself until the food incident of 2016 when summer came and he lost his thick winter coat only for them to realise Oscar was getting pretty fat. Since then they’ve fed him routinely. Yoongi had said that Oscar refused to talk to him for three days when it had first happened, however now he used it as an excuse to come and annoy the couple in the morning (and by annoy Hoseok means cuddle because as cold as he wants to seem he’s really quite affectionate).

Yoongi placed a gentle kiss on the cats head and rolled out of bed, quickly moved across the room in just his boxers to grab a hoodie and fluffy socks to protect himself from the cold that always settled in their apartment in the morning as Hoseok wolf whistled from the bed with Oscar now curled up on his lap getting a good belly rub from Hoseok.
“Oh shut up you animal,” Yoongi muttered padding out of their bedroom and further into their apartment presumably to make tea for them. After a few more moments Hoseok gently removed the lump of fur from his lap and got up to follow the elder into the kitchen.

Their kitchen was bathed in a muted light due to the clouds hanging heavy around them but Hoseok still stood in the doorway and admired how Yoongi looked making them tea. He admired how the sweatshirt he was wearing fell down to his thighs and how the sleeves were too long so Yoongi had rolled them up to his elbows and how his currently dyed red hair was fluffy and sticking up in random tufts , partly Hoseok’s own doing as he ran his fingers through it and partly just from sleep, how his tattoos moved across the skin he could see, the set of paws gently moving up and down his right thigh dipping underneath the hem of his jumper and back out as if his magic was pacing. And how the flowers on his forearm were blooming and closing back up with the slow breaths he took. He honestly thought he could stand in that doorway all day and admire his boy but he’d much rather have him in his arms, and so that’s exactly what he did. Winding his arms around his waist and putting his hands in his boyfriend kangaroo pocket at the front of the hoodie he placed a kiss on Yoongi’s cheek
“What’s cookin’ good lookin’” The suffered sigh Hoseok got in response brought out the heart shaped smile easily, Hoseok knew Yoongi loved his cheesy lines even if he pretended he didn’t. He’d confessed one night where summer seemed to be dragging on forever and they’d drank too much wine and their bodies were drunk off- alcohol reacted different for witches in comparison to humans the mix of alcohol and their magic made the affects tenfold and witches could easily get drunk off a glass of wine. Yoongi had admitted his love for them with his face buried in Hoseok neck as he sat on his lap not wanting to move ( or he just physically couldn’t) despite their friends catcalling them from the other side of the circle they were sat in.

Hoseok being able to magic flowers practically out of thin air removed his hands from Yoongi’s pockets with a small bouquet of sunflowers, Yoongi’s favourite.
“Happy anniversary I know no presents but I thought this was okay,” He said handing them over and wrapping back around his boyfriend.
“Thank you Hobi, love them as always, love you too.” He replies spinning around and leaning up for a kiss. Once they broke away Hoseok was left to finish off the tea and start on the eggs for their breakfast whilst yoongi went and put the flowers in a vase that Taehyung had gifted them a few years ago when they’d first moved in as a house warming present, it changed colour gently so much so that if you watched it you wouldn’t really notice it, but if you looked at it the away one second it’d be yellow and when you turned back around it’d be blue. The boys loved the charm he’d put on it so much so that now they also had been gifted mugs that were charmed in the same way for birthdays and Christmas.

When they’d settled at their island counter with plates full of breakfast and steaming tea mugs the boys realised the picnic they’d had planned in the park by the river wouldn’t be able to happen now because of the storm. However they knew nothing was stopping them having the picnic in their living room, and as soon as breakfast was done they started setting up the blanket fort that they’d perfected over the years, in their apartment this blanket fort was a common place. Most of the time it wasn’t even them building it, it was the kids or Jin and Joon crashing in it rather than the spare room as the witches preferred enclosed spaces why Hoseok couldn’t figure out but he never question it after the first few times it happened. They all lived in the same apartment block and that’s how they’d met over the years, and now they were as close to what would’ve been a coven as you could get. Covens weren’t a common thing witches found themselves in anymore especially in the city but the seven of them were basically family at this point they may as well be a coven, each had keys to everyone’s apartments and they had dinners all seven of them at least once a week. However today there was a little sign on Yoongi and Hoseok’s apartment door telling everyone to leave them alone because it was their anniversary, five years together and they wanted to celebrate it alone.

They’d met fives years and a month ago today, and really that had been the start. They’d met at the spring festival, their tents pitched next to each other and yoongi swore when he first saw Hoseok stretching outside of his tent in the suns dawn light, the animals around him had started singing a love song, their chirps and squeaks creating a song that yoongi cant recreate to this day no matter how hard he tries, and When Hoseok first saw yoongi flowers bloomed at his feet and out of his palms, keeping him stuck to his spot unable to look away from the witch a tent over talking quietly to a deer and her new born dawn who was s injured caught up in tent linings in the outskirts of the camping ground. Hoseok as good natured as he is had immediately gone over knowing he could help the wounds on the dawn. And so the two boys had helped the mother and her fawn, yoongi translating and helping Hoseok communicate and calm the animal down. Honestly the two boys knew they were gone for each other from that point. But over the week they stuck together at the festival, birds had constantly sung and Hoseok was leaving gardens of flowers everywhere he walked they explored together and learnt of each other and kisses for the first time under the moons light by the creek watching the fireflies create light patterns in the air.

A month later when they were in their respective apartments in the city, having brushed the week at the festival off as a fling that could’ve been more but they’d forgotten they had separate lives outside the festivals grounds. Luckily they bumped into each other on the street. And Hoseok having not stopped thing about Yoongi since he left the festival asked him on a date basically before he’d said hello, and the rest is history for them. Everyone they know have always know them as yoongiandhoseok, and they felt like they weren’t separate anymore they were two parts of a whole and they wouldn’t want it any other way.

Once their blanket fort was secured with a clothes peg, they crawled underneath and set up a film that they’d pretend to watch but would end up becoming background noise whilst they got too wrapped up in each other. Yoongi was sat on a bean bag with Hoseok curled between his legs head resting on the elders thighs as he traced patterns into his hand, howls moving castle playing on the tv.
“You know When we first met I thought you used to be like howl.” Hoseok says quietly
“Oh yeah why?” Yoongi has one eyebrow raised when Hoseok looks up to meet his eyes.
“Mysterious And cool and then as I got to know you you became as dramatic as him too.”
“Um excuse me I am not as dramatic as howl!” Yoongi says affronted.
“Yes you are, are you forgetting the hair incident of Halloween 2017?”
“We said we wouldn’t talk about that again.”
“Sure thing pumpkin.” He receives a smack for that. Which is fair enough. Halloween for the seven boys was nothing less than chaos. Costumes were pulled out of a tombola and you had to participate no matter what your plans were for the day, that year yoongi had gotten a slip of paper that said sexy pumpkin and had almost left the country in an attempt to avoid the day. Jimin’s has convinced him to dye his hair orange temporarily however it wasn’t wash out stuff and had to go to a job interview the next day with bright orange hair, no matter what charms any of the boys put on it or even if they’d tried to bleach it out the morning of the interview it stubbornly reverted back to orange. He still got the job but yoongi has never lived it down, especially the side by side spot the difference games of him curled up in an orange minidress little green hat and bright orange hair next to a picture of his cat with a similar little green hat on- they tended to show up on cards on his birthday quite a lot.
“You’re insufferable Jung Hoseok.”
“But you love me anyway,” He said mirth in his voice as he kissed Yoongi’s palm.
“Most of the time at least.”

They settled down again after that Yoongi’s hands had drifted to Hoseok’s hair and he was running his fingers through it, plaiting small strands and styling it into whatever ridiculous shape he could manage. He managed to fit about fifteen tiny plaits in before Hoseok sat up to move positions, he certainly looked a sight with his half his shoulder length hair in tiny plaits and the other half left in its natural waves. Yoongi fucking loved Hoseok’s hair, it changed constantly, when they’d first met it had been short with and undercut and as they grew to know each other and fall in love it grew down past his chest, and then recently he’d cut it again exclaiming that he couldn’t do another summer with this fucking hair. They sat on a winters morning in the kitchen tied it up and just snipped it off, Hoseok always made sure there was enough to Donte to the cancer charities so they could make wigs from his hair and yoongi melted at it, became a puddle of goo when he learnt it’s what he’d been doing his whole life a growing out his hair and then cutting it off and donating it.

The two left the blanket fort to grab the stuff for the picnic that they were going to have outside but their fort was just as good a place to have it, it reminded Hoseok of one of their first dates. There had been a cold snap in the city making it so unpleasantly cold to even think about going outside, and so they’d rain checked on going ice skating and instead marathoned films all afternoon instead, eating popcorn under a blanket fort faces light up only by the tv screen. In Hoseok’s opinion it was and still is to this day one of his favourite dates they’ve had. Don’t get him wrong he loves when they go out and do fun things together discovering bits of the city that they hadn’t yet explored but staying in wrapped up solely in each other was Hoseok’s idea of bliss. And honestly he wouldn’t want to spend their anniversary any other way.
