Her Inspiration

Summary:

Sick or not, she just had to finish these. After all, these were for her knights in shining armour, right? [Written for the Phoenix Wright Kink Meme.]

Notes:

Written for the PWKM, for a prompt that asked for pairings and scarves, so I decided to do an OT3 of mine, Junithenapollo! This is pretty short, and mostly just fluff, so yeah. This has real potential as a pairing, more people should do things for it!

Work Text:

She’d been cooped up in bed due to a nasty cold for almost a week now, and it seemed that all she’d done since then was knit.

Juniper wiped some sweat off her brow as she worked fast and furiously, her needles moving like wildfire. The light of the lamp by her bedside was dim, but she was concentrating hard, and didn’t seem to mind. Neatly folded by the end of her bed was her first, already completed project- a lovely scarf, pink with carefully done hearts all over it, that was perhaps a little too long. By the looks of things, what she was currently working on was similar in nature, but blue, and the hearts were yellow as the sun instead. Her eyes didn’t dare move from her needles, and then—

"Juniper!"

The girl almost jumped out of her bed at the sound of an elderly’s woman voice and the creak of the door.

"G-Grandma! Y-You…scared me…"

"I’m sorry, pet. I just thought you could use with some soup…oh, Juniper, are you still working on those scarves? You’re sick!”

"I’m sorry, Grandma, b-but! I…really need to finish these, alright? They’re important, and I’m…inspired…”

"Even the best of knitters know when to take a rest, you know."

"I know…but these really are very important. I’ll take a rest when I’m finished, I promise."

"I believe you. Don’t push yourself too hard, Juniper. You deserve a bit of a break."

"Y-Yes, Grandma. Thank you for the soup. I love you!"

As soon as her grandmother gently closed the door, she was back at it again. Gosh, were her hands tired…but no, she was almost done, she needed to get to the end! It was for…them. Apollo and Athena…they were so brave, weren’t they? They were always there for her, it seemed. Her knights in shining armour, the moon and the sun, working in tandem to protect her…she would always be grateful to them for that.

A few more minutes, just a few more minutes of working on it, and then— and then she was done! …And it looked just like she wanted it to, as well…she hoped they would love them. They really were such great inspirations, weren’t they?

She finally lay down on her bed, satisfied with her work. She closed her eyes, an all too dreamy look on her face, as she was lost to reveries of her knights in lawyerly armour, perhaps giving her a kiss or two…
