Jungkook and Jimin have been mates for 2 years. Their relationship went smooth the moment they mated but Jimin became a bit distant when Jungkook didn't knot him the last time they made love which is a big deal to the omega because he badly wants a pup, and his alpha denies him that.
"Love?" Jungkook scoots closer to Jimin and kisses his temple. "I love you." The omega searches for his face and kisses him on the lips, reciprocating Jungkook's words through the kiss.
The alpha spends most of his time in the office, working to provide his mate's necessities and to save up for their future. A part of Jimin is trying to understand that but his omega is stubborn and he demands more attention from Jungkook.
Breakfast has never been this quiet and Jungkook's aware that Jimin is bothered, judging by the distress in his scent.
"Is there something wrong?" He breaks the silence and Jimin just bites his bacon as he shakes his head. "None?"
"Aren't you late for your work?" Jimin mumbles as he looks straight in his eyes.
The alpha smiles. "I have two hours before work." Jungkook kisses his lips once, twice but Jimin leans away from the third one.
"Jungkook, I really want–" The words get stuck in his throat and Jungkook's eyebrows meet.
"Want what?"
"Can we have pups already?" Jungkook's expression softens but Jimin deciphers it as hesitation and his omega gets confused and sad.
Without saying anything, Jungkook wraps an arm around his omega's shoulder and kisses him on the cheek. "Jungkook." Jimin groans, unhappy that his mate didn't respond.
"Soon. Now can't be the right time."
"But why?" Jimin complains.
The omega avoids the kiss that Jungkook's about to give him and Jungkook feels bad. "I want to save money first. I don't want my mate and my pups to starve."
That doesn't convince Jimin at all. His insecurities worsen and he starts overthinking now. What if Jungkook is seeing another person? Or what if he realizes Jimin is ugly and he doesn't want to have pups with him? His anxious mind tells him that Jungkook is making up excuses, thus, making him disappointed.
Jimin gets up and wipes his mouth with a tissue, not making eye contact with his mate, while Jungkook is hoping that Jimin will say something about the topic of having pups.
But he doesn't get one because it's clear that the omega didn't get the response he wanted. Instead, he wordlessly picks his plate and puts it in the sink.
"I'm going to the daycare now." Jimin nonchalantly informs him, making the alpha frown.
"This early? There are no students at this hour yet."
"But I have a lot of things to prepare. I'm a teacher, Jungkook. I should use my extra time for important stuff."
Jungkook presses his lips in a thin line as he stands to wrap his arms around the omega's waist. Lucky for Jungkook, Jimin didn't turn away this time.
"I'm sorry. I understand." Jimin hesitantly nods.
The alpha kisses him, both hands pulling him closer and Jimin tries to stop him by pushing his chest but he settles with kissing him halfheartedly. Then after, Jungkook's kisses trail down from Jimin's lip to his jaw and neck. He presses open-mouthed kisses above his scent gland, scenting him fully until he completely smells like nutmeg.
"I love you, Jimin." Jungkook waits for his answer but Jimin just won't look at him so he hooks his chin to make him face him and speaks, "Look at me and tell me you love me."
The omega bites his lip and stares at him in the eyes. "I love you" said Jimin but the words taste like poison in his tongue. He feels as if he's cheating on Jungkook because he lacked sincerity as he told him those.
"Let me drive you-"
"No. I can manage, besides you have work. Bye."
Jungkook didn't have the chance to hug him one last time because Jimin left him in a haste. His alpha is crying in disappointment because his mate is being elusive.

They have free time at Sundays so Jungkook uses this as an opportunity to take care of his omega, serving him food, massaging him, giving him cuddles and kisses and making love to him.
Both of them are on the bed, feeling each other through their naked bodies. Lip locking in an intimate way and heat coursing through their skin, nutmeg and gardenia mixing in the air as they kiss.
Everything feels good at the moment until Jimin whines,
"I want your knot."
Jungkook halts his movements and shakes his head. "Jimin, not yet."
"Just give it to me." Jimin's being petulant this time around and Jungkook's grip on the sheets tighten because he is controlling his alpha.
"Are you on birth control?"
"No." The omega violently shakes his head.
"Then I can't knot you."
"Want your pups." Jimin is practically begging at this point. "Knot me, Jungkook. Make me pregnant, please. I want it so bad."
"No, Jimin. We're not ready yet."
"We are!"
"Jimin-"
"JUST GIVE IT TO ME!" Jimin scratches Jungkook's chest as he's going wild for a knot.
"Jimin." Jungkook growls with his alpha voice but he regrets it as soon as Jimin starts crying and baring his neck in apology.
"A-alpha. So-sorry. Forgive m-m-me." He stutters as he cries pleadingly. "I'm sorry... sorry."
The alpha's knees weaken and his voice trembles as he hugs Jimin in his arms. "No no no, Jimin. No. I'm really really sorry. I should have not used my alpha voice. I'm really sorry." Jungkook releases pheromones that calm Jimin after a minute or two.
They didn't get the release they needed. Jimin slept while he's disappointed about himself. Jungkook couldn't sleep while he's guilty of what he did with Jimin.
This isn't how this day was supposed to end.

Jimin awakes with a heavy heart. He remembers what happened last night and it's making his omega distress. The alpha smells his scent and tightens his hug behind Jimin.
"I'm sorry." Mumbles the alpha against his nape.
"You used your alpha voice on me." He's not ready to forgive Jungkook.
"I know. I regret it."
"But why did you still do it?" There's a hint of anger in Jimin's voice that bothers Jungkook so much. "You promised me never to use your alpha voice. That I may be an omega but you won't take advantage of my status, that we're equal. I thought you're different."
"I didn't mean to control you but," Jimin removes Jungkook's arm around him and turns to him, listening to his explanation. "You became wild last night and I just wanted you to stop."
"Of course, you wanted me to stop!" The omega lets out a humorless laugh. "It's always what Alpha Jeon Jungkook wanted and not, oh never what Omega Park Jimin wanted."
Jungkook feels a pang in his chest when Jimin didn't call himself Jeon Jimin and he pointed out their status when that's the last thing he wanted Jimin to experience in their relationship. He wants to be mad but he wants to be understanding too. Patience is important at times like this.
"Because you're an alpha and you get what you want without troubles and if there are, you use your status and power. But how about me? I want to have pups but my alpha doesn't want it, that means I have no choice but obey him because that's what he wants." Jimin kicks the blanket and rises. "Thank you for reminding me that an omega like me is useless."
"It's not that, Jimin. You're not useless-"
"But why won't you give me what I want?"
"Listen to me–"
"Answer me!" The room falls silent and Jungkook sighs in defeat. He sits up on the bed.
"I told you before. I want to have enough money first before having pups."
"We have enough money-"
"No, we don't."
All emotions, sadness, anger, disappointment and annoyance mixing together as Jimin cries in his palms. Jungkook hugs him loosely, giving Jimin enough space if he doesn't want his hug.
The omega wipes his tears before pushing Jungkook's arms away. "Just say you don't want to have a family with me."
"Jimin–"
"Jungkook, let's take a break."
"What?"
"I'm staying at my parents' house. I don't want to live in this apartment anymore."
"J–"
"I've made my decision." The finality in his tone keeps Jungkook from protesting.

"Mom!" Jimin hugs his omega male mother and kisses him on the cheek. He does the same thing with his father.
"Where is Jihyun, mom?" Jimin asks, looking around for any trace of his younger brother.
"He's on a date, Jimin. He introduced us his omega yesterday." Answers Jimin's dad.
Jimin sits between his parents and thinks deeply of Jungkook. He still can't help but be disappointed at his own mate. With Jungkook denying him the pups, he feels unwanted.
"What's going on, Jimin? We can smell you're conflicted." Jimin's mom starts.
"Is there a problem with you and Jungkook?"
He's about to answer when his phone buzzes so he fishes his phone to see Jungkook calling him. He turns it off before putting his phone back in his pocket.
"I think... I think I don't want to be mates with Jungkook anymore."
"WHAT?!" Both of his parents cannot believe what they just heard.
"I am tired already."
"Jimin, you know what's the process of breaking the mating bond, right?" His mom says. "You burn the skin until it erases the mark and if you do that, Jungkook and you will be both in pain."
"Can you tell us what made you consider that? What happened?" Asks his dad.
Jimin gulps and nods, tears teasing his eyes as they blink them away. "We're mates for two years now and... and I want to have children already but Jungkook doesn't."
"For sure he has reasons." His father says.
"He says he's still saving up money but I don't think that's necessary. Besides, we have enough money to support my pregnancy."
"But having an actual baby costs more than what you think." Jimin's mom explains. "Jimin, Jungkook is just being practical. He is doing the right thing."
"But–"
"Jimin," His dad cuts him. "You should be thankful that Jungkook is being smart unlike me. Your mom and I had you when we thought we had enough money to provide your needs, turned out we were wrong. When you and your mom almost had nothing to eat, I got mad at myself. I could have been smarter because that's not the life that I wanted to give my family. It's hard making decisions when you're unprepared."
"But I feel like he doesn't want me anymore." Jimin bites his cheek.
"I don't think that's true." His mom disagrees.
"No way, Jiminie." His dad pets his hair. "When you were on dating stage, Jungkook would talk to us about you. Did you know, Jungkook told us his whole plan for you and your future family? He said he wants to be the best mate and father and he promised us that he will work hard for you. He's one step close to making a powerpoint presentation that day."
His mom chuckles. "Yes. He's sincere with the intention of taking care of you, Jimin. He loves you so much and we see that. I hope you don't misunderstand his purposes."
Jimin cries and again, he's confused. He's disappointed to Jungkook, mad at himself and a part of him tells him that he's the one being unfair with his mate.
"Though if you really don't want him as a mate anymore, it will be hard for you both." His mom kisses him on the temple.
His father gets up and leaves the living room then he comes back with a notebook and a pencil. "This will help you decide."
Jimin looks at the materials weirdly. How's that suppose to help someone's falling relationship?
"List down all the things you love about him on a page. On another one, list down the things you hate about him." His father explains.
The omega takes it and walks to his old room. His parents kept the room in case Jimin pays a visit sometimes. They really love him.
He places the notebook on the desk and starts writing. He writes the things he hates about him first.
Jimin writes down: doesn't want pups, stubborn, cocky, idiot, tease.
When he doesn't know what else to add, he goes for the things he loves about Jungkook. He almost filled the paper as he writes all Jungkook's traits and attitude that he grew fond of. He even erased stubborn, cocky, idiot and tease from the other list because he realized he learned to love those over time.
Dropping his pencil, Jimin flips the page and reads the only thing he listed on the 'dislikes': doesn't want pups. Then he starts crying and he's never felt this stupid before.
There are many reasons why he loves Jungkook and the only reason why he doesn't want this relationship anymore is just because he doesn't want pups yet. Jimin feels stupid for being selfish, for letting one reason break his faith in their love. He realizes he's being unfair to Jungkook because Jungkook gives him everything and when he's asking one favor, Jimin doesn't grant him.
He regrets thinking that they should stop being mates. He regrets every painful word he told Jungkook. He regrets everything that went against his love for him. There's no reason for Jimin to even doubt Jungkook's intentions.
And he is here on his desk, crying, longing for his mate. He feels Jungkook's frustration through their mating bond and his omega needs to tell him that everything will be okay. Jimin and his omega will never want Jungkook away from them.
Jimin gets up and leaves the room with a notebook in his hand. He's met with two pairs of eyes as he walks closer to his parents.
"Have you made your decision?" His dad asks.
Meanwhile, his mother takes the notebook and takes a look of what Jimin has written on the things he hates about his mate. "You hate him because he doesn't want pups?"
He violently shakes his head. "I don't want to lose him just because of one reason, mom. We can make it work."
"Of course, you can, honey." His mom hugs him. "So you change your mind?" Jimin nods.
His dad hugs them both and speaks, "Jungkook loves you so much, Jimin."
"That's the first thing he listed in why he loves Jungkook: because Jungkook loves him." Jimin's mom smiles.
"I'm glad you realized that."
"I'm gonna go to him, mom, dad. Thank you for everything." They break the hug and kiss him one last time before leaving the house.
He feels positive and hopeful now and he's not going anywhere away from his mate because while Jimin loves Jungkook and while Jungkook loves him, there is no reason to let go.

The door opens and he sees his alpha crying, his omega releases pheromones to calm him down. Jungkook senses his presence and his eyes twinkle before Jimin runs to him and hugs him tight.
Jimin kisses Jungkook like he missed him for months and Jungkook does the same as he holds him in his arms.
"Jimin, love, I'm reall-"
The omega shushes him with a finger on his lips. "No, love. There's nothing to be sorry for."
"No really. I'm sorry I can't give you pups just right now. Believe me when I say I want a family with you but we need stability once the baby is there. I want to give you both a good life."
"I know. I understand that now. I'm sorry for being selfish."
"Love–"
"You're patient with me. You respected my decision when I told you we couldn't mate just yet. You waited for years until I was ready to settle down and for you, I can wait too. I can wait, Jungkook."
"Jimin." His mate smiles with Jimin's words.
"I love you so much. You're the best alpha and mate in the world."
"You're the best mate!"
"I'm your only mate, love." Jimin giggles as he cups Jungkook's face with his smol hands.
"My one and only mate that I will never stop loving." Jungkook blows a kiss to his mate, making him chuckle.
"Since we can't have pups yet, let me baby you, alpha."
"Anything you want, love."
