To say that Jotaro had been protective after the events of Egypt would have been, quite frankly, a gross understatement.
You knew why, of course - after all that he had lost along the way, he felt like he had truly lucked out that you’d been knocked unconscious before the battle with DIO had truly begun. The vampire had avoided you entirely, by some strange stretch of fate, and so you’d missed the entire battle, stumbling onto the scene only after Jotaro had finished calling the Speedwagon foundation. He hadn’t spoken a word to you until his grandfather was safe, but to learn how many of you had fallen along the way... it was disheartening.
He had hardly separated from you afterwards, in fact.
He was clingy, almost unbearably so.
It was as though the two of you were joined at the hip (despite the height difference, you supposed) and it had become infuriating. Nearly every little thing that could pose a threat to your safety had been avoided, from going out to eat to being near construction equipment. Though, to be fair, you understood why he’d given that road roller a wide berth.
However, even after the two of you had returned home to Japan, he’d continued. He would show up at your door every morning to walk with you, or spend time with you, even being so bold as to show up right after he knew you’d wake up. That way there nearly wasn’t a single moment he was without you - it was bordering on creepy at this point. You couldn’t take it anymore, even if you knew that he was protective.
“Jotaro, that’s enough!” You hissed, pushing his hands away from the strings of your jacket - which he had been attempting to remove. “You have to stop!”
Seeing as he gave no immediate answer to your demand, other than for his hands to go deathly still, you decided to continue.
“I haven’t had hardly a single second to myself since we got back!” You began, hands clutching tight in your hair. “I understand that you want to spend time with me, but I’m sick of us being joined to the hip! I need time to myself! So just... leave me alone!”
Without another word, you stormed off down the road, taking a corner right as you heard Jotaro call your name. Considering the fact that you were angry, not paying attention, and slightly wanted to be petty, you took the first turn down an alley so that you could take a lesser known shortcut home. Or, well, you’d probably just find a cafe and get a seat away from window view, so that you could brood for a few hours and spend time to yourself. You weren’t really sure but-
“Heh, found you.”
There was no time to think, let alone time to use your stand as a hand wrapped around the back of your coat, and yanked you sideways against a wall. The enemy’s stand had four arms, and was pinning you quite effectively, though the knife to your throat was quite overkill.
“I’m going to cut you up for what you and your little boyfriend did to master Dio.” The man grinned, eyes wide but empty, like a puppet without strings. “You’ll pay for- ungh!”
The man’s words cut off with a choke as Star Platinum wrapped a large fist around his neck. His hands jerked, leaving a small nick on your throat before the knife fell to the ground with a clang. Your hands immediately leapt to your throat, pressing against the small trickle of blood as Jotaro dealt with your attacker.
Relief surged through you, and it was over as soon as it had begun.
“Jotaro I-”
“Are you okay?” He breathed, immediately pressing close and moving your hands away, replacing them with his own. It was only then that you noticed them shake, even as they checked over your wound with delicacy you didn’t know he possessed. “Are you hurt?”
“No.” You mumbled, the fight draining out of your body. “Just the scratch, I’m okay.”
“Thank god.” He sighed, hands on your shoulders as he pulled you close. Like a lifeline. “I won’t lose you too.”
