"Move your ass Ei. We're gonna be late." Katsuki called out from the genkan, where he was already slipping into his black loafers. He knew there was still time, but he liked to arrive early when possible. Eijiro almost never made that easy.
"Yeah, yeah. I'm coming!" Eijiro yelled as he came into view. "The reservation isn't until 7, we've got time."
Looking at the beautiful man in front of him, Katsuki couldn't stop the quiet gasp that escaped his lips. Eijiro was adjusting his scarlet tie. The only piece of his ensemble baring color. The crisp button down shirt and the tailored slacks were black, topped by a blazer that was more charcoal gray in color. Katsuki's eyes raking over the other man, the muscles barely hidden by the clean lines of the suit. He looked great. But as his eyes continued their path up, what and caught the air in his lungs, was Eijiro's head of soft looking red hair. Instead of his typical spiked up look, he'd left his hair down to lay against his shoulders the way Katsuki loved it. Two small braids on either side of his face swept back to keep his bangs out of his eyes. Even after three years, this man could still take Katsuki's breath away.
Katsuki realized he must've been staring when Eijiro flashed that cheeky smirk that showed just a glimpse of those sharp white teeth. "See something you like? 'Sides, I thought you said we were gonna be late." Eijiro teased.
"Tch. Let's go." Katsuki huffed, turning his back to Eijiro hoping he hadn't seen the blush Katsuki could feel creeping onto his cheeks. 'Gorgeous bastard, who's he think he is, messing with me like that.'
"Alright, Katsu." Eijiro chuckled behind him, in a tone that Katsuki knew meant he had that ear-to-ear grin on his face.

The restaurant's red brick exterior belied the sleek modern aesthetic of the inside. Crisp lines in blacks and grays; supple leather seating and dark wooden tables. Soft jazz playing quietly from some hidden source, and warm lights over the tables gave the modern setting a subtle warmth that would have been missing completely without. Katsuki had made the reservations months ago; the place having such exclusivity that even pro heroes and government officials weren't typically granted exemption from the waiting list. However, the part that Katsuki had chosen this restaurant for, was the VIP private rooms on the second floor for those individuals. They'd have a private space to dine and talk in peace, away from prying eyes. As up and coming pro heroes, their faces were becoming more and more recognized, and Katsuki didn't want to have to deal with all the interruptions tonight.
The two of them enjoyed their meals in peace, Eijiro chatting about just about everything. Katsuki smiled and laughed as he listened to Eijiro talk about the "fluffiest pupper he's ever seen" while on patrol the day before, the kids he'd talked to, and a myriad of topics between hero work and even his latest trip to the market. Finally settling on his latest phone call with his moms and 'baby' sister. Katsuki chuckled to himself at Eijiro calling her that, the girl was already twelve, hardly a baby anymore, but he figured her protective big brother would always call her that.
Katsuki smiled at Eijiro's animated retelling of his sister's latest adventure. The kid loved the outdoors and often liked to go camping and take walks through the woods. She'd asked to go on their hiking trips with them several times already, but Katsuki had always worried about her being too young and how safe it would be for her. Now that she was older, Katsuki had agreed to take her for her birthday closer to fall, once the weather wasn't quite so unbearably hot.
"-to be expensive." Eijiro was asking something, but Katsuki had been lost in his own head again.
"What?" Katsuki blinked, trying to reorient himself to the conversation Eijiro is singlehandly maintaining.
"Hmm?" Eijiro chuckled lightly, an amused smile on his face. "I was just asking you about the tickets for the play. We got such awesome seats, I was just thinking they must have been expensive."
"Tch. Yeah, typically the tickets are thousands of yen per seat, but the Hag and the old man were the head designers on the costumes, so the troupe gave my folks a pretty hefty discount for the trouble. Since they didn't wanna go, the hag offered them to me."
"OH! That's so cool, Katsu! Your Parents are so awesome!"
"No, they're fucking not! They're fucking pushy and annoying." What Katsuki hadn't told the redhead yet, was that in order to get the hag to actually give him the voucher for the dicounted tickets, he'd had to agree to model their next fall line for a magazine shoot in August. 'The shit I do for love...' he thought to himself.

Their seats had been in the roped off VIP section of the venue. Situated up off the ground floor, right at center stage. They had each been offered a glass of wine, which they'd hadn't expected ('Mustv'e been part of the perks from the hag', Katsuki had thought) but contentedly accepted. The play had been a loud, soulful affair; the music upbeat and full of life. Colors upon colors making up the vivid costumes and striking backdrops. Katsuki had enjoyed it, suprisingly, and even though it was well past his usual bedtime, he wouldn't have changed a thing. He could see it clearly on Eijiro's face throughout the entire show, just how much he too had been awestruck by it.
The moon was high as they walked down the sidewalk. There were few other people out by this point, and even those, Katsuki judged, had also been at the play if the attire was anything to go by.
"Oh man! And that girl in the pink kimono. Man, Masaru's designs were beautiful! Wow! And the songs... That was so amazing! Right Katsu?"
Katsuki turned his head to his boyfriend. Eijiro was smiling, his ridiculous sharp teeth on full display, and his eyes crinkled at the corners. Katsuki loved that smile, always wanted to protect it, and the man that wore it.
"It was good." He was actually really impressed, and his old man really had pulled out all the stops of the costumes. Even from his seat up in the box he could tell the care that went into them.
As they walked toward home, Katsuki reached for Eijiro's hand and intertwined their fingers. Lifting their joined hands to his lips, he placed a kiss on the back of Eijiro's hand. With his smile still in place Eijiro mirrored Katsuki's actions, holding Katsuki's hand to his lips and returning the kiss, a wordless "I love you" only they could hear.
A peaceful quiet stretched between them, both content in it, and unwilling to break the peace the rest of the way home.
