Hailey Anne and Usapyon had just finished a detective case. A Gimmie had apparently stolen Komasan’s furoshiki. However, the detective duo were able to help locate and retrieve the stolen item.
“Thanks ya’ll! You two really are the best swirly detectives. This is for you Hailey.”. Komasan held out his hand and in it was his medal.
Hailey’s face lit up with excitement as she picked it up. “Oh my gosh!! I get to have your medal?! Best day ever!”. She slipped the medal into her medallium for safe keeping.
Komasan then brought out his kaipad and logged onto Kainet. “Usapyon? Mind if we swap kainet info? That way I can more easily get a hold of ya’ll if I need help again.”.
Usapyon smiled as he pulled out his own kaipad. “I don’ mind at all Komasan. Anythang to help out a friend.”. The two exchanged usernames and the lion-dog waved goodbye as he left.
That night Usapyon lay awake, watching some funny videos on Kai-Tube, when he got a message notification. It was Komasan.
Komasan: Howdy! I was wondering if you’d like to hang out tomorrow around 2pm? I wanna have a picnic out by the lake near the museum but ever since my brother Komajiro became a DJ, he’s been too busy to do things with me much anymore.
Usapyon: I would love to Komasan! It sounds like fun. Hailey can git on mah nerves sometimes so it would be nice to git away from her fer a bit.
Komasan: Great! See ya then!
So it was settled, the otter would sneak out of the detective agency undetected tomorrow to go hang out with his new pal. He was nervous but also quite excited. Good thing it was a Friday and Hailey would still be at school during that time.
The next day at about 1:50pm, Usapyon snuck out and headed to Gourd Pond Museum. There, by the lake, Komasan was sitting on a blanket. He had a small basket next to him. The lion-dog smiled happily as the other yokai approached him.
“Usapyon! I’m so glad you could make it.”. Komasan patted the empty spot on the blanket next to him, offering the other to sit beside him. Usapyon sat down, crossing his legs.
Komasan opened up the basket reveling some sandwiches and juice. “I didn’t know what kind of sandwich you like so I just brought ham and cheese ones”. He picked one up and held it out to the other.
“It’s ah’ite. Can’t go wrong wit ham n’ cheese. Thank ya kindly.”. Usapyon took the sandwich and began to eat it. His tail wagged happily behind him. Komasan started to eat his sandwich as well, a small blush forming on his face.
Usapyon swallowed his food and looked up into the sky. “It sure is a mighty beautiful day out ‘ere.”. He then took another bite of his sandwich.
Komasan looked at the sky then at Usapyon. “Not as beautiful as you are.” He meant to say those words in his head but they kinda just slipped out.
“W-Whut did ya jus say?”. Usapyon blushed and stopped eating, looking over at Komasan.
“Oh swirls! I didn’t mean to say that out loud. How embarrassing!”. Komasan set his sandwich aside and hid face, blushing deeply.
“W-Well, I think ya be mighty…c-cute Komasan.” The otter yokai admitted. After he said that, Komasan removed his hands from his face. “You really mean that?”.
Usapyon nodded. “Darn tootin’. I jus didn’t say anythang befer cause Hailey was right there and I don’ want her teasin’ me.”.
Komasan couldn’t help but smile and gave Usapyon a big hug, the aforementioned yokai returning the gesture before pulling away.
“Oh my swirls. Does this mean we’re boyfriends?”. The lion-dog questioned, sounding rather excited.
Usapyon smiled, holding Komasan’s hand in his. “It sure does.”.
Hailey Anne got out of school early and went home to drop her stuff off. She noticed that Usapyon wasn’t in her room but she just figured he was at the detective agency. She used the Mirapo on the balcony to warp there.
She walked in to discover that he wasn’t there either. The only one at the agency was Whapir.
“Whappykins! Have you seen Usapyon by chance?”. She questioned the elephant like yokai.
Whapir nodded. “I saw him sneak out this afternoon so I secretly followed him. He’s with Komasan at the lake near Gourd Pond Museum.”.
Hailey’s curiosity got the best of her and she told Whapir that she was gonna see what they were up to. She thought it was rather suspicious. When she arrived, she spotted the two yokai sitting near the lake,holding hands with one another.
“Welp, I hate to go but if I don’ Hailey might worry ‘bout where I am.”. Usapyon frowned, not wanting to leave his new found lover behind.
“I understand. Same time tomorrow?”. Komasan asked.
“You betcha pardner. I look forward to it. Till then, I’ll be thinkin’ ‘bout you.”. Usapyon leaned forward and pressed his lips against the other’s. Komasan was a bit surprised but soon returned the affection.
The two parted and Usapyon helped Komasan pack up his picnic supplies before hugging him goodbye. At this point, Hailey quickly headed back to the agency to await the yokai’s return.
Usapyon soon arrived at the agency and was surprised to see Hailey already there. “Shouldn’t ya still be at school?”.
“I got out early today but more importantly, where were you at?”. She didn’t waste time in questioning him.
“Oh I jus went out by the lake by mahself to enjoy the beautiful day.”. The yokai technically wasn’t lying to her. He was at the lake but he wasn’t alone.
Hailey smirked “Usapyon, I saw you and Komasan kiss.”.
That made Usapyon instantly blush. He looked at the ground, not wanting to look Hailey in the face. “Y-Yeah, we did. We’re…dating now. I didn’t want ya to find out cause I was worried that ya wouldn’t approve o’ it.”.
At that point, Hailey knelt down to his level. “And why wouldn’t I? You two love each other right? There’s nothing wrong with that at all. You don’t have to hide it from me. Why don’t you invite Komasan over for dinner tonight? I’ll sneak an extra plate of food for you guys to share.”.
Usapyon smiled up at her, nodding. “I’d like that very much Hailey.”.
