Komasan and Usapyon were asleep in their bed, facing each other. Suddenly, the otter yokai began to fidget in his sleep, whimpering slightly. It appeared that he was having a bad dream. “N-No…”. He whined out, stirring more.
Komasan groaned and opened his eyes to see what was going on. He could see Usapyon laying there, shaking, with his face scrunched up as if he was in pain. The lion-dog sat up, curiously watching to see if his lover would calm down.
However, Usapyon did not. He started thrashing about, shaking his head from side to side. “No! Please…wait! Dr. Hughly!!”. It was then that Komasan jumped into action and started shaking the other gently. “Usapyon! Wake up!”.
Usapyon jolted up with a scream but soon realized he was in bed, his boyfriend staring at him in confusion. Komasan spoke up. “Are you alright hon? Was it a bad dream?”.
The other nodded. “Y-Yeah. I was in the rocket a’gain. It…exploded n’ I tried to git to Dr. Hughly but…he couldn’t hear me.”. Tears began to form in his eyes. “I was…so scared n’ alone.”.
Komasan pulled him into a hug, holding him close. “It’s alright bumpkin. It was just a dream. I’ve got you.”. He told Usapyon while gently stroking the back of the aforementioned yokai’s head.
Usapyon held onto him tightly, sniffling some as he let his tears fall. He soon calmed down a bit and pulled away to wipe the tears from his eyes. “Thank ya kindly Komasan. I don’ know what I’d do wit’out ya.”.
Komasan gave him a kiss on the cheek. “You’re so sweet. Now, let’s get back to bed. It is still pretty late.”. He laid back down, the other following his lead. It was then that the lion-dog pulled Usapyon close to him again. “If you have another nightmare, I’ve already got you in my arms.”.
Usapyon snuggled up against Komasan, letting out a contented sigh. “Good night darlin’.”. And the two soon fell back asleep in each other’s arms.
